Although my bootloader is unlocked I have no way to boot to recovery, flashed Chinese stable from vendor after fastboot check for unlocked bootloader. Is this to be expected or has something changed?
Thanks

Hi,
Recently I updated my EMUI firmware via the official OTA system.
I had the bootloader unlocked prior to installing the update however afterwards the bootloader was locked. I have verified this in Fastboot.
I wish to flash Magisk on my P9 Plus, however, I have a bootloader unlock code (back when Huawei gave them out freely) however I don't want to unlock the bootloader as it will factory reset (I spent a long time setting everything up).
I tried flashing a TWRP image however the bootloader prevents it as it is not unlocked.
The only other method would to boot the custom recovery image however when executing fastboot boot recovery TWRP twrp-3.1.1-1-vie.img it gives FAILED (remote: Command not allowed). I had noticed this inability to boot images even when I had the bootloader unlocked (I did not want to overwrite the stock recovery or eRecovery for easier OTA updates).
I have the Chinese variant of the P9 Plus : VIE-AL10 Full Netcom Edition.
Is anyone else having this problem? Please let me know if or how to fix this.
Thanks
It's been a while since I last used fastboot boot but if i remember correctly the command is "fastboot boot recovey.img, without that" recovery" in between
if the bootloader is locked you cant flash magisk or any other, also you cant boot with any images
Hi all,
I have a Mi 9 europe version and want to get back to stock.
The current status of my device is:
- Bootloader unlocked
- TWRP
- flashed GSI FlokoRom
Can I just put the phone into fastboot mode and flash (10.2.24.0 PFAEUXM from there) with MI flash tool as mentioned there? Is it possible to relock the bootloader after this or will it brick my device?
I recommend you to flash rom WITHOUT LOCKING at first time. Even if something is wrong you should be able to flash twrp and then flash any rom.
But if after flashing your ohone boot up normally, flash it again and tick LOCK BOOTLOADER. Simple and secure way to get stock phone.
Hi XDA.
I was curious to find out is it possible to flash stock rom back on the device and relock the bootloader without bricking the device.
The EDL method seems like a pain..
The model is Raphaelin.
Flashed chinese 10.3.16.0, wiped system, flashed HAVOC, formatted data, wiped, booted. Everything works fine.
My questions are...
If and can i flash the EU rom and lock bootloader? Maybe through MiFlash.
Or
If and how can I flash the indian global rom and lock the bootloader after that?
Thanks guys!
Raphaelin means Indian ROM? If, you cant lock bootloader after flash different region ROM. If you lock bootloader after flash CN MI or RU type ROM, your device will boot lop means brick. You have to flash IN (india) official ROM to relock bootloader.
Download Indian Global Fastboot ROM and flash by XiaoMiFlash software.

You can only lock the bootloader with the ROM from the same region as the phone. In your case you can only lock the bootloader when flashing an official Indian fastboot ROM. If you try to lock the bootloader flashing any other ROM you will hard brick the phone. This can only be done when flashing the official fastboot ROM with the Mi Flash Tool.

Okk.. Thanks a lot!!!
Won't dare try anything stupid..
I have the Chinese version of k20pro and now I'm running the eu version of rom that is saying that my redmi is a 9t pro.
I also tried to lock the bootloader with this rom, but the phone got stuck on bootloop.
I thought that my phone is bricked, as no unlocked bootloader, there is no possibility to install the twrp and mi flash gave me an error. Luckily I put the phone in fastboot mode and run again the process of unlocking the bootloader and worked for me.
I would like to give it another try, but when I will have more time to read what other steps are needed and not to end up with a bricked device, especially that I enjoy this phone a lot.

You can not lock the bootloader again if you have any ROM that is not for the same region as your phone. With a Chinese phone, this means you can only lock the bootloader when installing Chinese MIUI.
You were lucky you had already unlocked the phone before and so had unlock permission on your Mi account. Many others have bought phones with the bootloader already unlocked, then done the same as you. Because they could not then unlock the bootloader, they have ended up with a hard bricked device, which needed flashing with an authorised service account.
How to Re-lock bootloader
Hi... I'm on stock rom Raphaelin v11. 0.4.0 global stable and my bootloader is unlocked. While using mantra RDservice app, it gives an error of rooted device. My device isn't rooted and every payment app runs fine. So I want to try locking bootloader to see if it works.
Is there any way to flash stock ROM with a locked bootloader ?
When i try to unlock bootloader with Mi Unlock, it is asking me to unlock some setting in the Mi app in the phone, which i cannot because the phone is wiped.
:crying:
I'm assuming you're not telling some details regarding this but for your question, you can't normally flash rom with locked bootloader. You'll need authorized account and flash in edl mode.

Do you have TWRP?
If yes, just flash stock rom and flash stock recovery ?
I am pretty sure if your bootloader is locked then you are on stock rom and recovery.
After wiping the system partition when trying to make something work, I got stuck in fastboot mode with no os. I followed the advice given here but I think I flashed an incompatible os, and now my phone is locked, and when I try to boot it it tries to boot into miui then goes into recovery and says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device." Nither miflash nor miunlock can do anything. Any ideas on how I can fix it?

The Phone got locked when I flsahed the wrong rom with the miflash tool, and forgot to change it to clean all. Now I cannot flash a rom as the bootloader is locked.

It doesn't matter whether the bootloader is locked or not with miflash. Give it a go with the correct rom.
As long as it's an official rom.

I tried, it says: error:FAILED (remote: Erase is not allowed in locked state) for clean all and clean all and lock.
For save user data it says: error:"Erase boot error"
Was there a way to flash without erasing, I cannot remember. But it sounds like you need to flash a rom version comparable to the current one (without wiping), boot, unlock bootloader.
