Froyo does not support apk downloads?

When I try to download an apk from a different website, I get an error saying this file is not supported. Yes I have the non market installation checked.

If the website doesn't send the correct headers with the file them the phone doesn't realise it's an APK. Same happened on 2.1 normally on sites with download redirects.

I did that but still does not work :-(

Try using download crutch lite. Lets me download pretty much any type of file.

Is that market application ?

Last I knewit was taken from the market. Just Google it

That sucks I'll just have to wait till tomorrow, no pc.

Hi,
When I try and start the webserver I get an error:
"An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions"
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I used Version 1311 without Webserver (see Post 2).
Install XAP and start Navigon, download Maps...... be Happy

Got the same error, did you find any solution?
Anyway, downloading the 1311 version now.

Found the solution, I had my local web server running, i stopped it and no error message appears anymore.

What tool are you using to install? What error do you get?
I had no problem to install it (v.1321) in BTTF rom. I used TOM XAP Installer 1.2. But double clicking .xap installationn failed, so I ran TOM XAP installer as admin explicitly and add .xap file there to install. It works that way.

Yeah I actually ended up getting 1321 to install fine.. it turns out my whole issue was trying to get the north American maps to work.. which didn't really work out at all so I've given up trying and will just learn to live with Bing.

you must change region in menu to get US maps working...

Which Code must be entered to get german language and maps?

simply install, send content to phone and change language in menu settings...
no other action required with latest version 3.0.0 build 1321

I cant find language in menu settings - only "change region" with die default setting "EU". Do i have to download the "additional data" via wifi first?

Yes - that did the trick - problem solved ;-)

is it possible to have Australian maps?

yes... simple change region to AU in Navigon
1. get AUS and NZ data filesets from Android Navigon V3.6.0 for Aus.
copy data,map,poi,sound from sdcard to your pc. use these files to replace all EU files(of course you also need to download all files of EU firstly).
2. install xap to your WP7, latest version is here, download data from kounadisk web server.

I have got my new RAZR i and I like it very much. But one thing is a little bit frustrating. I've got some apk files which I would like to install,but they don't because of the Intel processor , I think . So my question is, is it possible to transform those files to some, which will be installable on this phone.

Do you get any error message? Normaly they should install fine, as long as the apk is compatible with Android 4.0 x86 (which are most existing).
How do you try to install it?
Have you enabled the option to install apk's from foreign sources?

EDIT: Found the problem. You can't download the apk-files to your phone directly from the net. Instead I sent it via USB from my computer to the phone an it works. Thanks anyway!

There is a problem parsing the package.
(I only translated it from the original german: "Fehler beim Parsen des Paketes")

Wich apps are you tryng to install? Are they in their last versions?

What apk's? Are this usual Apps or maybe an modified like an themed Keyboard or an inverted Play Store?
If it's an modified apk you usual have to put them into the System/App Folder by using an Root Explorer and set the permissions right.

If you download an apk to your Phone and get an. zip, just rename the File to. apk.

Upgraded to official 4.4.2 via OTA (stock GPE), i'm not rooted or whatever, 100% official, the Download App does not open apks if i download them from browser they will not open giving error (screen below).
Unknow Sources are flagged ./

which file explorer you are using?
Goto settings security tick install unknown apps
Some apks have old sdk supports kitkat try them at playstore

I am doing this in an emulator. So no file explorer.

it's available for Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.
yes, it is NOT available by search from the phone (it's really weird...),
BUT it is available by the direct link.
so to download it from phone, you should open in phone web-browser link "https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9wzdncrfhwnl".
you could do i manually, or open link from email, or Skype message, or OneNote document, or whatever you prefer. and after several seconds, you should see a "Store" application open the details of this app.
unfortunately, this app can't be installed on WP8.1
p.s.: i do not have a fully unlocked WP8, so can't repack it.

not shown into store...app is not available...if you have then repack and send to me.

updated the answer. in short, try to open direct link on your phone.

hey, bro . for repack xap its does not need to full unlock you phone.. only you phone is register for side load two app is enough by developer register tool... then deploy custom WPSystem.xap and copy the install directory with folder and send me its zip...

i see... but unfortunately, i do not have it installed.
but i realized why it can not be installed by direct link: the app is most likely marked as "Make product unavailable" by developer. i checked it with my "Market Purchase History" - the situation is exactly the same: it's available by direct link, but can not be installed at all.
so, sorry, can't help you.
