is there anyway to root android 7?
finger crossed!
Little question:
I'm on stock MM on my z3plus, with locked bootloader, never unlocked, never rooted (for now).
With my previous Z1C, I've flash recovery without unlock bootloader or flash other kernel, keeping the stock kernel I can use recovery and a custom ROM, I can do this starting from Kit Kat, root with a tool in KK and install recovery from KK. After this, flash KK custom ROM.
Now, with z3plus and MM seems more difficult to do this.
With a locked bootloader, how can I install recovery and root my phone? It's possible?

Already rooted. I'm running the .372 version.
All you need to do is fastboot a TWRP enabled boot image (which will temporarily boot to TWRP). Then flash SuperSu. Flash stock nougat kernel with DRM fix. The steps are in XDA somewhere.
Rooting Process.............

And flash it with TWRP recovery..
Please Use TWRP Version 2.8.1.0 as people reported some problems in latest 2.8.2.0 version.
Downlaload TWRP 2.8.1.0
Please note: if you're having a problem with twrp 2.8.1.0 asking for password..

Hey!
Thanks a lot. Really helped solve my problem!
No problem
This doesn't belong in Development.
Actually i am not sure where should this be.. I'd request modders to please move it to the correct board!
Thanks man!

Since you've probably lost your custom recovery upgrading to 5.0.1, you can grab the TWRP images for Nexus 5 here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hammerhead
I believe you need to use 2.8.1.0 since 2.8.2.0 either doesn't work or is causing problems for many users.

Isn't CF-Auto root adding files from the 5.0 release over the 5.0.1 ? Isn't it safer to wait for a 5.0.1 autoroot?

How did you update from a rooted (with CF-Auto Root) 5.0 to 5.0.1 you just received the OTA and installed it without any problems ?
I like to know because i am on 5.0 stock just rooted with CF_Auto root.
So no more need for CF-Auto?
Just flashing SuperSU zip with TWRP is enough?
I flashed a Custom Rom Using TWRP which doesn't have any root permission...

Guys, i installed the 5.0.1 update by fastboot flashing system, boot and radio. I lost my custom recovery tho (CWR). I now tried to install TWRP, but after flashing the recovery image, the recovery still hasnt changed. Could i just flash CRW or should i use TWRP for this version?

This. I flash with it here since 4.4.4 and it did everything just fine. Not only it is an app to automatically root, but it gives very good hints, and provides lots of others features like installing Apks, getting a adb prompt, and so much more. Greatest third party Android app I have tried. Highly recommended, didn't even had to wait they update it for 5.0.1, as soon I got the 5.0.1 OTA notification, Nexus Root Toolkit was already ready for it.

This is lollipop security, custom recover wouldn't stick, after each reboot it will replaced with stock one, of course there is a way to make it sticky just search the forum.

That's always been enough. You can use Cf's auto root if you don't want to use a custom recovery.

I was on Android 5.0 lollipop when something glitched and my phone wouldn't get out of bootloader mode, so i flash stock android. When it then finished and went back to 4.4.4 i tried flashed the factory images again to lock the bootloader, but it wouldn't let me because it kept saying "downgrading" or something along those lines. Now my phones sysetem version is 21.11.17.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.Us which is the one of 5.0 when im clearly on 4.4.4. I am currently rooted with a custom recovery, any ideas on how i could possibly get back to android L?

Two possible ways:
A. the stock method
Download these files:
RETUAWS_XT1064_4.4.4_KXB21.85-17_cid9_CFC.xml.zip from motofirmware.com
Blur_Version.21.11.17.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US.zip (Lollipop 5.0)
Blur_Version.22.21.16.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US.zip (Lollipop 5.0.1) (both from this forum)
install the first via fastboot, (ignore errors given by gpt.bin and motoboot.img), reboot
install the second via stock-recovery, reboot
install the third via stock-recovery, reboot
B.
flash The Titan Prime ROM, reboot

the A method doesn't work, ive tired it before. It doesn't let me relock the bootloader because it thinks im downgraded the system. I think ill try the B method. In order to instal the custom rom would i have to use a custom recovery? how would i go about doing it (P.S. XT1064 rooted with TWRP)

currently I BELIEVE if you have flashed MOTOBOOT.img (bootloader) from a 5.0 version you can not go back to a 4.4.4 version, but you can still run a 4.4.4 rom on a 5.0 bootloader. a locked / unlocked bootloader should not stop OTA updates. Having the wrong recovery will stop OTA installing. and mismatched bootloader / recoveries MAY cause problems.
to flash titan prime rom use TWRP (make backup 1st) place zipped tp-rom on sdcard and gapps.zip and following instruction in the rom thread
So, A method (blur versions) will always fail if you have TWRP installed, you need stock recovery that matches your rom on phone now , the 1st from moto firmware should work via mfastboot method.

Hey, I recently got a Nexus 6, and instead of installing CM as I usually do, I'm going to try rooting and using Xposed. The trick is that I use Linux exclusively, so I can't use the one-click installers. It's a Nexus, so unlocking is a piece of cake, and I know how to use adb and fastboot to install a custom recovery.
From there, I'm not totally sure what to do. I downloaded the SuperSU zip from chainfire, which I'll install from twrp... Then... Do I need to install busybox or something? I guess I'll have to side load xposed after that?
Also, not sure what the update path will be after that. I guess rooting will break OTA... So what do I do?
Sorry for being such a newb! Thanks!
to root..
fastboot oem unlock to unlock the bootloader
fastboot flash twrp recovery
flash the latest supersu zip within your new recovery
then just reboot, and you have root.
to update, you can flash any updated stock rooted rom, or you can update via fastboot.
@ninjaaron,
Go to the Xposed thread, there's a lot of info > http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/official-xposed-lollipop-t3030118

http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/unlock-bootloader-downgrade-t3106459
Hi,
How do I root the phone now, after upgrading to 6.0.1
I've tried the method mentioned here: http://www.guruswizard.com/2015/12/root-android-one-devices-on-6-0-1-marshmallow.html to root my karbonn Sparkle V
and it wasn't successful, and I've lost all data after unlocking bootloader [I've got desktop backups though]
When tried to flash that modified boot image mentioned in that page, I am getting this error:
target reported max download size of 134217728 bytes
sending ‘boot’…
OKAY [0.515s]
writing ‘boot’…
FAILED (remote: size too large)
finished. total time: 0.577s
Is it for 2nd Gen devices? Did anyone get root access on their 1st gen sprout4?
So how do I root my phone now?
Thanks.

Cody kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...elopment/kernel-cody-kernel-07062015-t3128888
Supersu: http://download.chainfire.eu/743/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip
Flash both of them, and enjoy root
Or if you want root on stock kernel
Use supersu 2.62 from attachments of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125
It will patch the kernel automatically and root without modifying system
Hope that helps

Custom kernel and Custom Recovery both are different things,
Custom kernel is the device supreme commander which controls all processing, ram, fluidity and many others fact you can tweak it but cant use it to root the device..
On other hand Custom recovery is used to recover phone by flashing ROMS, zips , img etc.
So you can flash supersu from custom recovery and root your device
But if you already have custom kernel installed on device then its clear that your device is rooted, as bcoz. your custom kernel gives you some extra tweaks which is given after root.
So device emulates that you have custom kernel so your device is also rooted..
I think that you have understood....
BEST OF LUCK FOR YOUR FUTURE:good:

You can flash one using fastboot. Or instead of flashing you can even use the command "fastboot boot recovery ......... " (replace..... With name of recovery image file) . Once you are inside the recovery flash supersu zip normally and you'll root your phone without installing a custom recovery.

Go to Supersu app and click the option for full unroot/cleanup. That'll do the trick. Also, if you are rooted, you still receive OTA. In fact I received the Lollipop OTA while I had a custom recovery installed. The only difference that made was that after downloaded when the phone rebooted into the recovery for installation, the OTA zip wasn't installed. So you can unroot, keep the stock recovery and kernel and locked bootloader (you can relock it using fastboot) then you'll receive OTAs. However, I'd suggest, you install a custom recovery and simply flash an OTA when it arrives from the forums. Hope that helped you.
Very helpful indeed! Thanks Bud!
