Hey
Yep, I did the update yesterday. Also VoLTE is showing.
My work has very bad signal, so I can test if WiFi calling is actually working.
How do you know VoLTE is working?

What version of P9 do you have (single SIM, dual SIM) and what firmware do you have?
I'm on C432B180 and no update to any version of Nougat for me yet (looking via HiCare app and normal update service).

I am on c432b361. I have the single SIM. I used the thread on here to manually update from 182 to 361.
I have no idea if volte works but got Wi-Fi calling if it's enabled you get the word "Wi-Fi" in top left of status bar next to carrier name

Thanks. I'll have a look to see if I can get this.

Good morning all,
Did wifi-calling actually work for the p9 or was it just showing as an option?

VoLTE Support

Does this phone EVA-L09 support voice over LTE? I can't get it working and I can't find any settings for this? Every time I call someone the call gets routed through 3G and sometimes even 2G. I would like to have the supreme in call voice quality back, that I had on my OnePlus One.

No, but I think that my carrier is up to certifying the phone to the network so I'll have VoLTE soon.
With the Nougat B360 Update I can enable VoLTE via settings. I'm on Telekom DE.

Nice to see that, but this is the situation on mine
i am on 432b360 too. Have you activated it with some code or in some other way?
thanks
@africa89
No, I just did the Update and the Settings were there. Maybe VoLTE is something your provider has to enable? AFAIK the older contracts of T-Mobile didn't have VoLTE enabled, it had to be activated by the provider support helpline...
Can anyone or in any rom Volte will be activated ??
Dear Experts

update to 8.1 breaks calling the voicemail number (1233) on tele2/tmobile network

So after the official oreo update , my wife's nokia 8 cannot call the voicemail number any more. Last week it worked. Sim in another phone, it works. Dialing on the updated nokia 8, 'this number is not available'.
Can't find anything on the internet, so checking here if somebody knows what could be the issue here.
Any services that handles this 1233 calling differently then any other number?
Any hint or 'look at this option' will be appreciated as i'm pretty stuck and even tele2 customer service has no clue ofcourse.
I'm on Tele2 nl and have the same issue. I don't know what the solution is. Let's hope for a fast fix.
Edit: a temporary ghettofix is to disable advanced lte mode (geoptimaliseerde 4G LTE modus) in mobile network in the settings menu.
yeah just figured that one too. Fiddled first with 4g/3g/2g settings which made it work too. Turning off VoLTE indeed made it also work on the 4G preferred network mode

It seems that Tele2 switched to full LTE since last week, whereas before it only used VoLTE in some cases.
It could be that they forgot to register their number. I assume that the other phone you used to test does not use VoLTE?

Can you post screenshot while making a phone call if it shows LTE or drops to H+??
Does wifi calling work?
An update on this matter...
As far as I can tell Huawei has been fixing one of their shortcomings and allowing VoLTE support on many more carriers despite the phone being the wrong reason.
I've heard from a reliable source that, although I didn't think it was true, indeed VoLTE works on T-Mobile US.
Note that this may or may not depend on the version/branding of the P20 Pro.
Wifi calling does not and has never worked on T-Mobile US with Huawei phones unfortunately.
This guy gets VOLTE on tmobile:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIqKuE1Dx40
as best I can tell it works.. I make a call and band 12 stays connected throughout the call when VOLTE is enabled in settings.
Does 4G symbol remain while on call

Can you try this please?
1. Turn WiFi off.
2. Make sure 4G symbol is showing on your cellular bars at the top of the screen.
3. Make a phone call. You can even call 611 for T-MO customer service, and make sure that 4G symbol still remains while on the call and that it does not change to 3G or anything else? And if you can post a screenshot, it would be much appreciated.
Are you using the CLT-L29 and what region? European or Latin American version?

Correct it's the dual sim CLT-L29 Build Number is clt l29 8.1.0.106(c636)
That method of testing would be a step backward. I have already confirmed I am calling over Band 12. VOLTE is working, atleast for me on T-Mobile. I wasn't expecting it to from reviews but it was a nice surprise.
Thanks

A workaround to get WiFi calling is to download T-Mobile Digits from play store and you can use the app to make wifi calls. You may need to sign up for T-MOBILE Digits. I'm not sure. I was a beta tester for Digits and they since let me keep the service for free on 3 devices.

I've been using google voice / hangouts dialer (or whatever they want to call it this month) for a few years now. I hardly ever use T-mobile for calls, works out well when you want an international phone. Less reliance on the network features.
Out of curiosity do you remember if T-Mobile digits worked for incoming calls as well?

Yes it does work. And the fact that you can mimic one number or multiple numbers as many times as you'd like on multiple devices is pretty cool.
brother phone NEO-L29 Mate RS dual sim with sim t-mobile.pl i have options to VoLTE and WIFI calling
VoLTE definitely works and Wificalling menu is hidden. Don't think it works, yet but that might change at some point. Use a program like quickshortcutmaker and search for calling. The last option seems to be for att and the second from bottom is TMobile.

I believe that's because you are using an international phone in an international country on an international version of T-MO.

Go to your network provider shop and ask them if they have enabled it for you .. You MAY BE need different packs .. or deals from Your OP
I just put EE-uk into Mate 9 (right) and it automatically showed option wifi-calling.. If I would remove EE sim it will goes away..
And there is calling over WiFi or 4G.. It is little bit weird that 4g network is packed in to wifi calling.. Which clearly is not
It should be separated option.. But it is just the way how wronlgy EE operator did it..
On the left it is P9 but I did it force way as it was patch applied because I was rebranding P9 to China and flashing oreo so patched VoLTE option.. It wasn't there previously in android 7

ok i just quickly checked several utube videos and i see “global” device have VoLtE icon.
So I guess with global rom it will be fix bro
I have the Chinese variant of the Mi 11 Ultra and by default, I was unable to see the options to enable VoLTE and VoWifi.
If you enter the following codes into the dialer, it should work:
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWiFi/WLAN *#*#869434#*#*
These codes disable/enable carrier compatibility check. Then go into Sim Card and enable VoLTE or VoWifi.
Since VoLTE is required for RCS in Google Messages to work, enabling this also allowed for 'Chat Features' to be ready on my phone.
Quick note: I am in Canada on the Virgin Mobile Canada network.
I did this but the icons never came up.
I'm in australia using telstra and got the china version

Even I face same problem I'm using boost sim ,I've enquares the Carrier but they said they support vote , I'm not able to get volte working in my device
Same issue. Got the Chinese variant of the Mi 11 Ultra, running 12.5.12 EU ROM and I'm on Boost (Australia). I've done all the dialler codes and still no VoLTE icon. Calls drop to 3G.
i've done a deep search regarding VOLTE on Telstra in Australia as I am facing this issue too, and I found out the following result:
This issue happened because Telstra did not share its network settings with a few companies, Xiaomi, Oneplus, and others.
On a different thread on Oneplus section, there is a way to fix it that requires root, so we add Telstra settings manually, but whenever a tiny update shows up, then we'll need to repeat it. a restart won't affect it, just an update because it replaces modified network settings file with original one.
so to summarise it, unless a software update with the new settings come up, then it won't work.
And btw, the VOLTE is working on MIUI first version of 12, and MIUI 11. but after the update, settings lost. and this is not an issue with MI 11 ultra, it is with all xiaomi and oneplus devices and a few others.
Do not waste your time on it, and just cope with what we got and be patient.

Thanks for this information, sincerely appreciated. My only concern is Telstra turning off their 3G network by June 2024. Let's hope the issue is solved before then. Fortunately my call quality is completely fine without VoLTE at the moment as reception is good. I'm sure other providers will start turning off 3G too. A very odd issue and I'm really surprised it hasn't been fixed.
Did any one manage to find a solution ?
Any solution yet to make volte and vowifi work on Telstra and boost Australia? Thanks
