Removing AT&T branding from MK6 Volkswagen GTI MFD - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When connecting my phone to my car's bluetooth it shows up like
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
. Any way to change this to custom text? I'm running Pure Nexus Rom and thought that changing the lockscreen banner that displays the AT&T banner would change it to my custom text but it hasn't. Anyone know what I can edit to get this changed? Looked around in build.prop but didn't see any reference to AT&T.

The change on Pure Nexus is purely cosmetic. The actual carrier information is broadcast on the network and can only be changed by switching carriers.

In the build.prop... There a line...
ro.carrier=unknown
Try changing that badboy...

[Q] Expanded Notification Bar settings [SOLVED]

I'm new to all this Android stuff, I got my first android phone last Christmas & have (slowly) learned a lot, mainly here at XDA. I'm generally happy with my theme with one exception. My carrier name (Cincinnati Bell) is black on black (see screen shot). Does anyone know where this setting is? I've been searching (& searching) through framework-res.apk for the past week without any luck.

Greyed out signal status icon with Wifi on

Does anyone know why my signal status icon is greyed out when wifi is connected instead of just disappearing? I've got a Rogers XT1058 and when I'm running the Rogers OTA it doesn't happen. But every time I try to flash anything else, I get the greyed out icon. Is this the way it looks for everyone else? Here's what I'm talking about:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Anyone? Just want to know if this is what everyone else is seeing. On every other ROM, phone, etc I've ever used the signal type icon goes away when WiFi is connected.

Help Hiding the VPN Icon

In stock Android previous to 5.0 the VPN icon appears as an annoying persistent key in the top left like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After 5.0 they moved it as a system icon to the right and it can be turned off or adjusted.
It looks like this:
It seems like in Touchwiz they never updated this and the key is still on the left. Even if you're using 5.1.1 (I assume 6.0 will be the same.)
---
2 Questions:
1) Without rooting, is there a way to remove or hide that icon?
2) Is there a way to file a bug or ticket with Samsung to let them know to fix this in the new Touchwiz? Or some other way of contacting them?

[StockROM] Strange preloaded, non-deletable VodafoneWifi SSID

Hi,
on the 8.1 Stock ROM (using latest reteu) there seems to be a preloaded SSID called VodafoneWifi.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It is not available via the regular WiFi menu and only visible through settings search. I first suspected this was some kind of SSID which is added when using Vodafone SIM. But I double checked it on a second Moto Z3 Play (resetted, without SIM).
So I digged a little bit deeper to pinpoint the source of this SSID. I extracted the Stock Image and found the two following APKs:
WpaConfigApp.apk
Settings.apk
Many more than VodafoneWiFi..
Does anybody knows more about such preloaded WiFis?
Thanks!

Question Changing Fonts Affect on Different UI Elements!

So the default font ain't that special so I changed it to sth fancier ALTHOUGH,
the following elements change with no problemo:
icon title, settings and menus, messengers, other texts and whatnot, even the gboard;
font doesn't apply on the goddamn status bar, notifications and toggles!
it changed to the new font for a brief period and reverted over night.
i wiggled every setting i could, alas to no avail.

Any input/info would be appreciated.
