I would suggest OpenGapps.
I don't know how Pixel works, but in shamu(Nexus 6), ROM with OpenGapps works perfectly tome.

Has anyone else had any issues with it? Going to hold off for now, but excited to see this!!
I installed and tried to setup it up - all flashed well - on boot, after connecting to my WiFi network, it said to use my other device to setup the pixel - and wanted me to use the GOOGLE AP to setup the pixel (I assume it would transfer settings and stuff) but I don't have another phone here - and it did not offer any other way to complete setup - at the main screen it goes right from connecting WIFI to setup from nearby devices with no other options - is that the result of the FULL GAPPS that I installed or just how it works with this rom? Never had this issue before....????
NEVER MIND - I went back to recovery - reflashed rom with a different GAPPS and t his time, it allowed me to setup normally - must have been user error....
I take that back - when I tried to setup - there were no GAPPS installed - even though they appeared to be flashed correctly when I flashed them....very strange - still must be user error - just don't know what I did or didn't do???
RELFLASHED the GAPS I had installed intially - and this time I was able to get past the setup ---
again, I blame it on user error .....curious if anyone had a similar experience?

I had the same experience. I flashed ROM, vendor image, TWRP installer. Reboot recovery then installed full dynamic. What did you do? Does it work well?
Installed fine, been texting and on a long call, will continue to set it up and test my other apps.
EDIT - I just noticed that it isn't syncing my Google contacts and it isn't an option under Accounts. And when it finishes booting after every reboot, I don't get the vendor error, but I get a screen that says "Android System There's an internal problem with your device. Contact your manufacturer for details." but nothing seems to be wrong. Tried OpenGapps and it doesn't install any google apps or frameworks.
I give up for now, nothing I've tried with all Google apps packages has installed the framework to sync your contacts etc. It installed Play Store when I use the dynamic apps, but no syncing services for Google.
Does this have substratum support?
substratum works but not included in rom ..you need to install from playstore.
Awesome!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but does this have WIFI calling? I am not quite ready to give this a run yet but I cant wait till its more stable. Ill probably mess around a bit with it this weekend.
Thanks again.

KNOWN ISSUES
1) Google camera doesn't save 30fps videos. Use Snap camera, or record 60fps with Google camera.
2) On all LOS-based ROMs, while the Pixels are recognized as Pixel devices in Photos and it says you have unlimited storage, apparently backing up photos DOES take away from your Drive storage allocation. All I can say is that this is being looked into, but no solution has been found to date.
Aside from that, as far as I can tell there are no longer any bugs! Please report any that you run into, assuming you have tested on a clean install. :good:
Don't expect any support if you:
- are not running the included kernel
- have installed any mods such as Xposed!
- have modified system files
Thanks to:

- AOSPA (Paranoid Android)

- @beanstown106 for his hard work on this device, specifically the gapps without which the PixelXL wouldn't be a PixelXL in Google's eyes.
- @flar2 for his excellent ElementalX kernel, which is used in crDroid for marlin and sailfish.
- @Bdogg718 for his assistance on random Pixel-related stuff (i.e. the Ambient Display fix).

OK folks, by request, here is crDroid for sailfish! It has been installed and seems to work fine; flash away.
Root / Passing SafetyNet Notes
Passing SafetyNet and/or playing PokemonGO with LOS su
This is a note to folks who play (or like me have kid(s) that play) PokemonGO (PoGo) on their devices. Since root is built-in, by default SafetyNet won't pass with crDroid, hence no PoGo. As an added bonus, since the kernel we use on this build is SELinux Enforcing, this will also allow crDroid install to completely pass SafetyNet!
All you have to do is boot to recovery and flash the unsu-los-pixel.zip.
If you want root back, it's as easy as flashing restoresu-los-pixel.zip.
Download both files from AFH here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=158048
SEE IMPORTANT NOTES BELOW!
Note 1) Through no intentional act of my own, this will sometimes trigger TWRP to boot to the wrong slot. If your phone doesn't boot, or boots back to recovery, just go to the Reboot menu, select the opposite slot and reboot system.
Note 2) This will -only- work on the Pixel & the Pixel XL. Pixels are weird and nest parts of the /system/ directory in /system/system/, hence the need for me to make these for Pixels only.
Note 3) I have tested this on crDroid, but in theory it will work on any LOS-based ROM, becuase they all should implement built-in root the same way.
What flashing this actually does
What this mod does could not be any easier. The un-root script takes the two su files required for root - in /system/system/bin/ and /system/system/xbin/ - and renames them to "s_u". The restore root script renames both files back to "su". That's it. You can do this manually by mounting system and using the file explorer in TWRP, but that takes an annoyingly long time relative to just flashing these.
We actually have a developer, @bhb27 , on the crDroid team that has an app that allows you to pass SafetyNet, but we are having trouble actively mounting system while the phone is booted. If we get that sorted, this won't be necessary, but in the mean time this is the quickest way I can come up with.[/hide]

To use Magisk, just flash the remove SU file above, then flash Magisk. Magisk info below.

Arise? I'm guessing typo.
I use Magisk, Arise (with only base+Viper4ARISE+ice Sound) and the Magisk compatibility module and it works great.
See post 3 regarding Magisk.
Awesome, thanks.
crDroid v3.3 is Up!
crDroid v3.3 for Pixel XL (marlin) is live and ready to go! Per our dev, neobuddy89:
v3.3 release will roll out this week. In span of last two-three weeks, we noticed two naughty teams forked our repos directly and branded it as their own work. We do respect open-source but not stealing and rebranding/renaming. Yes, we used parts from other major ROMs with credits while starting ourselves from the scratch - that's how open source should be (and not mere renaming of ROM.) This is message for those who tried to sabotage our work: we invite you to contribute directly to our code base or support us with your resources to build / translate / fix device specific bugs. Together, we can achieve even more heights.
Changelog:
* Donate link under crDroid About (paypal.me/crdroidandroid). Help our team to provide builds faster! <3
* Optional battery info on lock screen while charging
* Optional locking tasks in AOSP recents view
* Weather provider default set to Yahoo.
* New optimized libraries: libpng, ImageMagick, bash, jemalloc and few more.
* Updated substratum resources to date.
* Fixed black of right icon on lock screen
* Jelly (Browser) homepage default set to google.
* Demo mode is back in Settings (For app devs)
* Bug fixes and improvements from google and LOS.
Official devices with v3.0 or later should get OTA notification when build is ready.
Remember, roll out for most devices will happen this week not immediately. Builds needs to be thoroughly tested on device before release to squash common bugs, if any.
Some known common issues:
* Ambient display brightness manual override may not work for all devices. We are working on this.
* Live display tile can crash on boot for few devices. We need LOS to provide proper update since it has major dependencies in framework and CMSDK.
* Any other issue will be device-specific - so check with your device maintainer / LOS team.
Cheers! Have a great day.

Changes specific to our device:
* You need the N2G47O vendor image - DOWNLOAD HERE
The LOS Google Camera bug is still present (where it crashes trying to save 30 FPS videos; 60 FPS works fine) and will be until LOS fixes it. Photos are as they should be.
Gapps still have to be included for now. Required updates should be few.
As always, download link & instructions are in the OP. Dirty flash should be fine, but remember to always clean flash before reporting any problems. Enjoy!

No. Gapps have to be included or full resolution photo backup and ok Google won't work. Probably other things too, but those two come to mind.
Yes I know but I am using no Google stuff. Currently using OctOS and it's great but I thought i ask to try another rom.

First of all thanks for the new rom for mako
I like it 85% but
I found a couple bugs ownrom changelog is blank in settings app
Settings app seLinux set to permissive causes a settings app fc and no change in seLinux status
And clicking gesture in settings app causes a settings app fc
I did a mostly clean install
Wiped all but internal storage
install rom gapps and pixel launcher black zip
I did not install a custom kernel
Then rebooted
This rom passes safety net see screenshots
How I I flashed rom
Rom
Gapps
Pixel launcher black zip
Reboot
Install magisk manager app latest 13 beta
Then reboot to recovery and install magisk zip latest 13 beta
Then reboot
Open magisk manager app and turn on systemless hosts and magisk hide
Reboot
Now rom passes safety net
New builds are now available:

Thanks for the feedback.
Clicking gestures in the settings app no longer causes a FC in the latest build (06/28)
Changelog being blank has a fix in the works
seLinux may or may not have been fixed in the new build (a few things were changed but haven't tested fully yet)

Amazing fast fix :highfive:
Se Linux is not fixed in new build but using kernel auditor mod app I can set selinux to permissive
I'm getting some pretty good sot with this rom and quanta kernel almost 7 hours see screenshot I had airplane mode on and battery saver on and had recently calibrated the battery and didn't have WiFi on till like ten minutes before the screenshot as you can see by the screenshots I didn't partially charge the battery
This is the original battery that came the phone
I was reading a book I had downloaded offline
Navigation buttons in N4 with an inactive touch pad at the bottom of the screen.
I checked and I can confirm that the navigation buttons work very well in OwnROM, for Nexus 4 with an inactive touch pad at the bottom of the screen.
Thank you.
I can add a ROM to the compatibility list.
Option is helpful:
Settings -> OwnSettings -> Buttons -> Portrait height
Will OwnROM be updated with the security patches for August?
Great! perfect rom

FAQ:
1.) What to do if My Phone got bootloop or not booting ??
You have changed vendor, or modified vendor(not stock), OpenKirin vendor will never ever work,, so get Pure stock vendor of your device... it will work for sure... if still not, change you data filesystem...
2.) What to do if my SIMs are not working ??
Go to Extras, disable dual sim, reboot phone,, now read carefully,,
1. Install hex editor app from playstore
2. Make sure you have file explorer with root privileges
3. Open hex editor and find modem,id file on this location root/sys/firmware/devicetree/base/hisi,modem_id and open it.
4. Write down all numbers in first row
5. Then go to root/system/vendor and find phone.prop and open it with text editor.
6. Find your modem id by using search and type 0x3xxxxxx where X is your number from hex reader
7. Then make it look like this:
3.) What to do if my SafetyNet is not passed ??
Update Magisk to latest beta version, tick Magisk Hide and enable usb debugging...

Use opengapps, arm64, version for andrid 7.1 and choose micro package.
Great rom it's very fluid, more fluid than RR that I used so far. I was wondering what are patches for, everything working great whitout them, and is there a way to change size of nav bar and turn off fp vibration.
Unlimited thanks for add the viper4arise......
All are working fine......
hi can you help me i can't find vendor anywhere i had the stock vendor instaled the image, but i have bootloop and can't fix it tried flashing the rom 100times now, my data filesystem is ext 4 to what doi need to change it? tnx in advance for the reply

1st Wipe only Data, Cache, Delvik & System.

Reboot recovery
Reboot system.
yeah i overlooked the f2fs i changed to ext 4 and it works tnx a lot )))
and tnx mirza a great rom, really smooth
Very nice ROM... very nice... just what I needed actually... this is the amount of customization I was looking for... no bugs so far...
Thanks Hassan!
The only thing I don't understand is, why it's not booting after I install Magisk 15.2... :\
Booted up normally with magisk 14.0... but doesn't want to update to 15.2... (not booting with update)
Also, is it possible to bring back some EMUI apps ? I really liked gallery, contacts & dialer... but hated the messages app...
So, yeah... used this ROM for a day so far... works without any bugs... great so far... (haven't tested OTG yet... don't have the cable... LOL)
Only downsides:
*to me it seems like ROM has poor RAM management... (compared to Elite or Stock roms).
*camera app kinda sucks... I'd like to get back EMUI one... maybe as a flashable ZIP or something...
Everything else - cool AF... thanks Hassan...

Nice!
Working well so far but I am getting a strict mode violation when using lawnchair. Let me know if I can supply any other info.
Any chance we can get a video tutorial for the Pixel?
I'm new to custom ROMing and this appears to have a different process than all the other tutorials I seen. I'm gonna downgrade to Android 9 so I can install this ROM, but not sure what to do after it because the instructions are in a different order than what I'm used to seeing.
Had a couple incidents where pixel launcher and lawnchair were fighting and there was residual icons and previous screens stuck. System seemed to soft reboot and then it was fine. Also is there a clear all setting for recent apps? When I scroll all the way nothing shows and I cannot swipe down to clear all. I searched in setting and lawnchair but could not find anything. Only thing I am really missing. Google Pay does not like this Rom with Magisk. Tried the fixes listed in the Magisk threads but no luck, just information to pass on to others not complaining about this wonderful Rom.
Will have to see about flashing this since Google stopped updates for the Pixel this month.
Does this ROM fix any of the battery issues like not getting the correct percentage left, and fast draining?
Does this get security updates?

Yes, it has encrypted storage
What are the features that differentiate it from other ROMs, other then having Gapps included?
Will security patches be pushed or need to be flashed?
I am looking for low maintenance ROM to replace Stock ROM, I just need it to be stable and get patches.

Fixed my Google Pay issue.
I have noticed that when I check for OTA update using the ROM updater , it says there's a new version and the version is 2.3
beside that, ROM is fluid , nothing I could find so far that doesn't work. During first installation the device was sluggish which makes sense. After rebooting after the initial installation everything is running smooth so far.
Are you able to install the update, or is just reporting it?
I may go thru unlocking the bootloader and flashing the ROM this weekend. I only have this phone, don't want to have it out of use for long.

Nice , thanks
Thank You, looks good, but i can't install MicroG and/or Magisk. It always ends in Bootloop. I tried all Variants (Format Data, MicroG as Magisk Modul), but nothing works.
for now i found :
-anx108 and selfie is 2mp
-anx other avatar sticker don't work
-anx slow motion don't slow nothing (only ANX, with gcam work)
-missing some good tiles (example sound panel and reboot)
-assistant don't work (tried bitgapps and fgapps, assistant is always not installed)
-double tap to unlock don't work (only if AOD is enabled)
-in lockscreen AOD clock is not in center (sometimes random)
-can't change system color (monet), only custom or default
Thanks, shame it aint encrypted as work profile will not work on it now

you must flash magisk canary and twrp3.6.0
Very nice rom. Twrp can even read/write from internal storage. Thank you very much.
When installing the ROM through TWRP it gives me the error "Unable to find partition for path '/system_mount'.

I didn't reboot into TWRP after wiping the data, that was my bad. Replying to this in case someone does the same as me

Hi guys,
I´m comming from 7.12, when installing should I format everything?
1. Davik
2. System
3. Cache
4. Data
5. Internal Storage
a) Should I format all of those 5 or just some of them?
b) Need to update TWRP to 3.6.0? (I´m on 3.5.X)
Thanks!

update to twrp 3.6.0 first.. for format use format function and not separate wipe

Hey, thanks for the reply. So, should I use the slider the says factory reset or use the format data button? Or both?
Is it possible to change the preference switch styles in this build? or is this something that is coming later?
I find the A12 toggles silly large.

tx for update, but for now change nothing of bug founded
-anx108 and selfie is 2mp
-anx other avatar sticker don't work
-anx slow motion don't slow nothing (only ANX, with gcam work)
-assistant don't work (hey google is greyed)
-double tap to unlock don't work (only if AOD is enabled)
-in lockscreen AOD clock is not in center (sometimes yes, is random)
Will there be support for installing ringtones on each SIM card separately? Now only the general melody. Or I didn't find how to install.
