My Mi 5 was working just fine (and it is, right now), I've flashed RR for a few months, today I wanted to update it by flashing the latest zip but suddenly touchscreen does not work on twrp recovery (it was fine before. nothing particular happend before)! I let the screen to turn off (on twrp) and then turned it on so it might be fixed but it didn't. So I tried to flash the leatest twrp (it was 3.0.2.0) using adb but my phone turns off after a few seconds on fastboot mode! any idea?
SOLVED, USING OFFICIAL TWRP APP.

Just try flashing it with quick..prepare typing "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" first then get your phone into fastboot mode, connect then enter..
Alternative way is..if your bootloader still at unlocked state..you can try boot into edl mode by command "fastboot oem edl" the flash miui fastboot rom to revert back to the original state again first..then see if fastboot issue stikk there..if not you can continue repeat the step to unlocking BL again (if the boooader already relocked after flashing) if not..just try reboot into fastboot then flash twrp again.

Sorry I haven't been on the site after using TWRP through ADB and taking care of my needs that way. What doesn't work is the same thing that didn't work for me with any TWRP image. Touchscreen does not respond to anything and letting it idle does not make a difference. I tried all of the available TWRP images (at the time) and did not find one that works. Luckily I found a tutorial showing how to use TWRP through ADB and frankly that is more user friendly in some ways since I've worked on Linux for a long time.

Hi,
I have a big issue with my Mi 5 right now. Can anyone help me with this please? The fastboot seems to be broken. These are symptoms:
1. I connected my phone to the computer, with USB debugging turned on, in normal mode, open adb command promp, I typed adb devices, adb recognize the phone, then I type adb reboot bootloader to reboot the phone to bootloader, it works, the phone goes to fastboot mode, and I type adb devices, adb does not recognize the phone. Therefore I can't install TWRP. I fell something not right at this moment.
2. I can't use MiFlash to flash my phone anymore. I plugged the phone in, with USB debugging turned on, in fastboot mode. The latest MiFlash can recognize my phone but when I flash the 7.4 global ROM, it just run something, but does not have any effect on the phone. The phone restarts, nothing changes. I tried the older MiFlash, and this one does not recognize my phone.
3. I can't update the phone through OTA or the xiaomi updater with downloaded ROM from official xiaomi. It says something not right. There's only a circle appear, the phone restart, and nothing changes.
4. I can't reset the phone to factory using the reset function in setting. There's only a circle appear, the phone restart, and nothing changes.
My phone is running global ROM 8.0.2.0 Stable from xiaomi. The previous ROM I flash is Resurrection Remix Rom. I used MiFlash to flash back to the 8.0.2.0 Rom. The phone has never been rooted. Everything is running well on my phone. Except that fastboot. I am using windows 10 anniversary. ADB is installed. I tried on windows 7 on my laptop, it has the same problem.
These are some methods on the internet I did try but nothing changes. Please help me. Thank you so much
On fastboot mode you should use fastboot command, not adb. Did you flash it via edl mode?

Maybe you are on newer firmware where edl mode is locked. You can try update via Chinese mi pc suite or unlock your bootloader then flash via fastboot

I tried to install twrp on my OP3T but everytime i write "fastboot flash recovery trwp.img" it says "error: cannot load 'twrp.img'"
When I type "adb devices" my phone doesn't show up
I unlocked the bootloader
I activated USB debugging
I checked the OEM thing
I have put the twrp.img in the same Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder
What could it be?
Install correct driveres or use another usb port. Device have to be adressed via "fastboot devices" or "adb devices".
It's probably a typing error ..Rename the twrp in whatever you want and then type " fastboot flash recovery " whatever you want".img
Rename file
Did you rename the file? You need to rename it before flashing.
IT WORKED
Everytime I was putting the phone into bootloader mode, the phone was already plugged in. Then I tried to put the phone to bootloader mode and THEN plugging it in my pc... and it worked ^^
Strange, right?

Whenever i flash twrp through fastboot it just gets stuck on the twrp logo and doesn't go beyond it.
I've tried with 3.0.3.1, 3.0.3.0, 3.0.2.0 but still the same

The last parameter has to be the EXACT filename, that you are flashing, which is the TWRP image. It has to be in the same folder as your command prompt is or you need to include the path to the twrp file.
Try the last TWRP release, should work!
Would like to express that I am also having the exact same issue. Any version of TWRP simply fails to load and stays on the TWRP logo.
I am on OxygenOS 3.5.3.
Anybody know a solution? I am currently running with no recovery now and I am quite worried.

After installing the twrp and then you type ... Fastboot boot twrp.img. Probably you are stuck on twrp splash screen...
Try to boot manually.to twrp by pressing power button and volume down button...Then you should be able to boot on twrp....

Did you try to fastboot TWRP after flashing it?
What I mean is, after you enter the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img", proceed with "fastboot boot twrp.img" and it will boot. Doing this you prevent Oxygen OS from overwriting TWRP. You should be able to boot normally after doing that.
Don't be worried and try to boot into recovery as described, that should work, if it doesn't I wonder if you flashed the right version of TWRP.
Try and let us know.

I'm having some difficulty getting past this step.
I've unlocked bootloader, enabled oem unlock and enabled usb debugging. I've added the PATH where my twrp.img file is located.
Whenever I input fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, it says error: cannot load twrp.img: no such file or directory.
I see the file in the correct location so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.
Any ideas?

Hi everyone.
I have a OnePlus 3t. It's not rooted and bootloader is locked. The current state of my device is that the screen is completely black and shows no LEDs. I know leaving it for a few hours it will come back on, this is due to me getting into fastboot and turning off the phone. It was stuck in recovery. Everytime it was on it would boot to recovery. I've tried deleted cache, resetting and it was doing nothing. Can anyone help me as to how to fix this? I know it's not a hardware issue. Tried to research on here but I'm at a loose end.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I mean the official Oxygen OS installation file that you can download from https://downloads.oneplus.com/ (if you're using OOS 5.0.8) or from https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...genos-5-0-1-android-8-0-t3728119/post75026505 (if you're using OOS 9.0.3 or 9.0.4)
And I believe you can sideload it via ADB, though I've never actually done that using the stock recovery.

I would try, but i have the feeling, that you have a hardware failer...
You could try this:
unlock bootloader
install twrp
install firmware 9.0.4
install any custom rom
I would take Dirty Unicorns, bacause file is not so big and works definitly without problems on my phone

perhaps is then the problem solved and you can install OxygenOS 9.0.4 again...

Install the adb - platform tools v28.0.1 on your PC.
Turn the phone off. Then boot it into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power. The phone will display "fastboot" text indicating that it has successfully entered fastboot mode.
Plug the phone into your PC, then open a command prompt window on the desktop (Shift + Right Click -> Open Command Window here) and type:
fastboot oem unlock
then
fastboot reboot
After that reboot into fastboot again and install TWRP...

I can't answer for OP, but he looks to have abandoned the thread.
What I can recommend from personal experience is that using latest version of TWRP - I think it's 4.3.3 (can't tell you exactly, as I'm writing this without checking my laptop on which I have the TWRP and ROM files) - will resolve all your problems.
Thanks for your reply I actually just managed to get root/TWRP/Magisk to work. A lot of the TWRP recovery images that I encountered just caused the phone to boot loop or get stuck on fastboot mode.
The TWRP that worked for me was twrp-3.3.1-15-raphael-mauronofrio.img
following:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-15-raphael-mauronofrio.img
For reference I have the global Mi 9T Pro

Hey sorry didn't see your reply... I haven't had time in the last month to look at it so I'm still stuck. How did you fix it using MiFlash? Did you make it force load TWRP onto the phone or something?
I think there is definitely something wrong with the partition, as when I plug it into the computer it no longer comes up in "my computer" - although I do have the MIUI recovery working again.

I think all of my problems will be solved as soon as I can get into it, but each time I load the recovery image on (using command prompt) it says it completes, but when I try to reboot it into recovery mode it never works (if I use command prompt to reboot into recovery it just shuts down but if I hold the button combination it either reboots back into fastboot or the original MIUI recovery mode - and yes, I am using the right button combinations).
I've tried every version of TWRP I could find, so I'm certain its not a problem with the recovery image itself... Have you or anyone else had this happen before? It's so infuriating that it just doesn't work, but I don't know why...
BTW the commands I'm using are
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "recovery.img"
(which works) and then
Code:
fastboot boot "recovery.img"
(which gives 2 OKs, but the phone just turns off).
(this all after setting the directory to my adb folder)

help!
my honor 9 lite bootloader is unlocked and i have installed an unknown kernel and now when i want boot into twrp it will boot into stock recovery and when i flash twrp and boot it will boot into stock
i tried all of twrp versions :|
wtf should i do?
plz help me
Hey guys.
Yesterday, something weird happend.
I wanted to flash an update (kernel) so I powered off my phone and started it as usual to get into recovery. But the only thing it does, was to start up into fastboot mode.
I'm being able to boot the ROM with
"fastboot continue" when connected to th PC.
First, I thought the recovery was broken so I reflashed it. Nothing happend. Only fastboot mode.
Then reflashed magisk, in the hope it will solve my issue. Nothing.
So what could it be? A broken boot.img? How could it be fixed? Still annoying
Hi,
Are you able to boot into recovery using fastboot boot recovery.img?

yes. that did it. After that, I was being able to power on as usual but not being able to start recovery. not via TRWP or via Vol+Up + Power or even Advanced Reboot -> Recovery.
So, could a reinstallation of the ROM solve the issue?

Ugh... Sorry I'm a but confused
So you flashed the recovery, booted into recovery via fastboot, and you could move around in the TWRP. Is my understanding correct?
Well if you don't have any data, nothing hurts to reinstall the ROM I guess

I'm only able to boot into recovery via fastboot boot recovery.img as you mentioned (I guess it's loaded directly from my HD to the phone but doesn't stay there ). Booting into recovery via Vol-Up+Power doesn't work anymore...

Weird. Haven't encountered this in rn10pro. But something similar happened on my previous phone I remember and that time flashing recovery, booting into it, then restarting to recover had worked. You can give it a shot.
If not wait for a better answer or flash the ROM

I already did that but I'm not being able to start recovery (TWRP) with Vol-Up+Power. It always loads my device into fastboot mode..

Are you typing boot instead of flash?

maybe you should try a fastboot flash of the stock rom for your region. Be careful not to lock the bootloader again. And patient, it takes about 5 minutes...

Didn't work. Always starts in fastboot. Already tried to flash twrp via twrp but didn't helped.
So I tried to flash my ROM again and that did the trick .
Phone boots normally and I'm able to boot into recovery via advanced restart and Vol-Up+Power.
Thank you guys, for trying to solve the issue.
