Disable Wireless Charging Sound - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

This has been driving my nuts, because wireless charging stand and pad receiver I bought have been constantly disconnecting/reconnecting, while the phone is on the charging stand. And each time disconnect/reconnect occurs, the phone makes annoying loud sounds, which cannot be muted, unless you put the phone in the Silent mode, which disables other sounds I dont want to disable. I finally found where those damn audio files are, so I could eradicate them from my phone:
Code:
\system\priv-app\MiuiSystemUI.apk\res\raw\
the two .ogg files inside the apk in that folder are responsible for my and might co-workers, who have to listen to my phone, nightmares. I tried replacing those files with blanks using APK editor. When I did that, the phone just started making a different sound from those 2, identical this time for both connect/disconnect events, but no less annoying and also loud.
Does anybody know of some sort of build.prop hack to disable charger connected/disconnected sounds, or a Xposed module, which can do the job? As far as I've researched, there is no native setting on MIUI phones for that, vanilla marshmallow roms do have it. TIA.

had similar problems early on. solved with xposed module MIUI 8 Tweaks pro version
go to the Power tab
power connection behavior (i use these settings below)
on connection to charger - no system sound, keep sleeping
on disconnect - no system sound, keep sleeping (this one is important as yes, for some reason it disconnects randomly in the night and the phone screen would light up)
additionally, i wanted my led to not flash during certain hours. i used to do this with the xposed gravitybox module, but that is only to work with vanilla android. for some reason it also works to stop the led controls in miui during my quiet hours. now i am happy, when i go to bed i put the phone on the wireless charging stand and it stays completely silent with the display off till i wake up.

Settings>Sounds & Vibration>Charging Sounds
You can disable charging sounds by turning the slider to OFF
This way you dont have to be on silent mode.

As I said in my original post - there is no native setting on MIUI phones for that. The setting you talk about does not exist on MIUI rom for Mi Mix.

What ROM are you on?
I'm running the stock EU ROM by xiaomi.eu, which is basically stock MIUI minus Chinese bloatware and pre-installed GAPPS.

I don't think this is a feature specific to the EU ROM because I have a few other devices running MIUI and this option exists in the stock Global ROM on these devices as well.

Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. Screen not turning on each time charging starts/stops is just a bonus - I was only looking to disable sounds! And it actually doesnt even require the pro version of MIUI 8 Tweaks - regular one can set those settings just fine

If wireless charging keeps disconnecting\reconnecting frequently, you should be more worried about THIS rather than the sounds\notifications as this could potentially strain\wear the battery\charging circuitry.
Its comparable to having an instable circuit\loose connection which could heat up\spark out eventually.

It doesn't exist on stock 8.0.12 MIUI rom. Trust me - I'm not blind, and if it was there I would have found it. if not after hours of googling then after your post for sure. I am aware the option exists in vanilla marshmallow and some other roms - I've said so in my original post. It doesnt really help to know that. Knives of ice's advice did the trick, so I'm good now, but there is no native setting for it.

The 1000+ amazon reviewers for both, the quick wireless charging stand I use, and the wireless charging receiver sticker I use, who gave near 5 star rating to both, don't seem to be worried about it, so at this point neither am I. As far as heating up goes - I use Ampere app and closely monitor phone/battery temperature - it hardly ever gets over 42 C.

I see. I wasn't implying that your information was incorrect. I apologize if you felt so. All I was trying to say was that the feature exists on a few of my other Xiaomi devices that ship with the Official MIUI Global ROM.
I wonder why they removed it on the Mix. Anyway this is new information for me as I haven't tried the Official ROM as I mentioned earlier.
So that's one more reason for me to stay away from the official builds. Happy on EU.
Good to know that your issue is resolved!
Cheers!

Again, was not implying that your chargers are bad. Just saying, you may want to check why it keeps disconnecting\reconnecting frequently and what may be causing this to happen.
It could be a case interfering\a faulty (not poor quality) charger or even a bug in the ROM itself.
If you do find the source of the problem, this would be really helpful.
Even I've ordered a wireless charging receiver + Stand and they are on the way. So any information that you may find on the cause of the problem would be helpful to me and many others.
Cheers!

can anyone confirm that this does or does not work on our phone? I heard it doesn't work for CDMA
Works fine on CDMA however I can't get it to work on this phone. It starts fine and set up goes fine but then it will randomly turn itself off. May be a memory issue I'm not sure.
I've been running the beta, and have had no issues.

ive been running the thing for weeks but i dont necessarily see any difference in batter life so i was doing some web research on what the best settings are and i noticed some ppl saying it doesn't work on cdma so i figured id ask the great minds of xda...

So I had to remove the app this morning. Not sure if it actually did anything, I used the plotter, and it kept it fairly level for a few hours early in the morning (3-4am) but I think whatever processes it runs to save battery also prevented my alarm from going off as well.
Two issues I ran into were my alarm not going off (even though it was set, i double checked it last night and this morning) and my screen refusing to turn off. Ended up rebooting the phone and removing the app and haven't had those issues again.

The app won't affect your alarm, might want to check task killers or memory managers. Not sure about the screen turning off, but it would be helpful to check your logs to find the problem. Sounds like you have something screwy going on.

Could be true, could be false, that's sorta the problem.
Either way, I'll look into it.
I also have a problem with juice defender. I don't know if it is already a setting or not, but when using any program that utilizes 3g when the screen blanks out (screen mute) you loose connectivity even on programs that are running. I know that you can simply go in and disable juice defender, but it seems like the program could be written to allow programs you select to keep the 3g signal open even during screen mute as long as they are running. So in other words allow for another check list to allow only selected programs to use 3g no matter what. Please if this exists already let me know where the setting is cause I want it.

Please check settings before posting. In the paid version you can set specific programs to always have access when running. I believe it is also in the beta for free.

Been running Juice Defender v1.8.8. for 2 days. Before that, I was running the BETA version. It's running on auto config as I wanted to see how it would manage on its own. Neither one seems to make a difference in battery consumption. It eventually stops running for some unknown reason. When running, the JD icon doesn't appear in the status bar but appears in the task manager. After a few hours, it disappears from task manager so I assume it stopped running. A friend of mine turned me onto this and swore that he got 16 hrs on a single charge on his rooted HTC Evo running Froyo (custom ROM), semi-heavy usage. He showed me at work, didn't charge his phone all day and by the time we were going home, he's still at 50% battery life. I'm running stock ROM (rooted - bloatware removed). I don't mind getting a paid version but if the free version is not working for me, I wouldn't even think of buying it.
Uninstalling JD as I type this.

Is the version you stated the beta?
Disregard the question, lol, re-read your post.
I have the paid version and I swear by it. I can go two days with moderate use. The only thing it does is great extends stand by time. You go hours without your battery moving a percentage point. I have the paid version and it is set by default, and you can set it yourself, to not turn off data if it is using the data. I don't know what the settings of the free version are, but when I'm using the data it never shuts it off. The only way it closes itself is when I charge it overnight. No big deal for all it does. Truly an essential, powerful app. I suggest people take a look at the settings and see how it is set up before dismissing it. Also get juice plotter to see what it's doing

As with any app, different phones play differently with them. I hear from some that things don't work, when they run as intended on my phone. This will always be the case.
I can say absolutely that Juice Defender Beta works without a problem on my device, and I have tested it extensively. It does what it should without issues or problems.
That obviously isn't the case for everyone. I will suggest that before someone blast a well written app publicly and possibly discourage someone who might benefit from it from trying it out, that they contact the developer with their issues and see if there is a known conflict or bug. I have resolved issues with apps like this many times, and almost always it was something on my end that fixed it, not the app itself.
Daswolven, I agree with you completely. Learned that with my Droid1 with the overclock speeds and voodoo with this phone, some things just don't work properly on your particular handset. I took the time to understand what this app does and it is extremely powerful. The best way to find out what's good for you is to try it. On a side note, I have been harassing the makers of Beautiful Widgets about the fc issue with our phones. I think they actually took care of it with the last update because I haven't had one in a while haha.
I've also done research on another app called BatteryFu which is suppose to be a "lean and mean" battery saver, compared to JD. Toby Kurien, the author of BatteryFu, claims that JD is bloated and ended up using memory and battery - against what it's suppose to accomplish. One of the biggest battery drain is mobile connectivity. JD and BatteryFu intelligently and transparently manages this essentially enabling it when you need it and disabling it when you don't. On the Fascinate, other than switching to airplane mode, mobile data connection cannot be disabled according to Toby. So this renders those battery saver apps useless. Perhaps turning off the Background Data would slightly help but it is needed by the Android Market so you'll have to turn it on when you need to access the market. You can also try setting up multiple APN's. I haven't been able to figure out how to do this on the Fascinate. My friend has a Vibrant and you can go to SETTINGS -> MOBILE NETWORKS -> APN. The Fascinate doesn't have APN under MOBILE NETWORKS. Maybe someone here has a workaround.

[4th August 2014] List of all problems for Xperia Z

UPDATED 4th August 2014
UPDATE: ONLY REPORT ISSUES IF YOU ARE ON STOCK ROM
Hey guys, here is a list of all the problems that i have seen on the xperia z forums as i was browsing.
just wanted to share and put it into one place.
Feel free to contribute, i will update post when new problems are discovered
NOTE: these are issues encountered on the 434 firmware
FOR 434 FIRMWARE:
1. weak wifi strength
2. phone does get a bit hot
3. camera takes a long time to load
There is a new 253 firmware that improves performance and the wifi signal strength and possibly other optimisations too
FOR 253 FIRMWARE:
1. Camera still takes a while to load, although it is slightly quicker
2. Wifi is still a bit weak
I feel the phone doesn't get as hot anymore and that the camera quality has improved
FOR 101 FIRMWARE:
1. Memory management seems to be an issue, apps stop multitasking properly after about a week.
2. people reported dialer and messages app being slow, although i haven't had that issue.
3. Camera still takes a while to open, just like on original firmware
TO DO LIST: new .227 or .230 kitkat firmware.
It looks like the wifi is actually strong now too
issues are slowly disappearing. yay
FOR 230 KITKAT FIRMWARE
1. camera still takes a long time to start
2. device has gotten laggier, most noticeably when pulling down the notification shade
3. Sometimes cannot make outgoing calls and cannot receive calls, restarting the device fixes the issue
Had my Z for 2 days now and have not experienced any of those problems. Maybe they are specific to units from certain markets?

2. Stamina Mode sometimes not turning on/working
3.Music stored on SD card jumps for some users
4.Sleep of death where screen refuses to turn on for some users
5. Google services chewing battery for some users, although this isnt a specific xperia z issue..

Are you sure those are all actual problems with the phone and not also due to the software/user? My opinion based on my one week experience with my Z:
1) Thought that my LED wasn't working too but then I found out that it doesn't work in stamina mode only - which makes also sense seen that the stamina mode cuts background apps/connections.
2) Isn't the stamina mode always on once you activated it?
3) seems to be a problem with slow microSD cards. Using a 64gb Samsung pro card with about 32 gb files on it without jumps
4) if you need to reset/reboot a smartphone and then it works fine again, it's not a hardware problem but a software problem. Should be a good idea to check if they use branded Xperia Z or if they bought it from Sony directly. And which country/continent are they from.
5) Has nothing to do with the Xperia z

Nice to have thread which state all issues found in xperia z.
I would be great if we can put solution for that said problem if one exist, it will be great help to the new user like me.
Sony Xperia Z will be my first smart phone,
I faced few problem with my XZ, no sure if some of the apps I've install may cause the problems.
- Camera unable to open and sometimes causing reboot ( even 3rd party app ie FX camera and activating from whatsapp have the same problem)
- phone took 5-10 sec to display contact and shows dialing when I call
- facebook occasionally crash
My just major concern is the camera issue.
Apps running:
smartstay
AVG anti virus pro
Stamina mode on
Edit: found the cause of camera crash issue, it was due to smartstay app.Uninstall and problem solved.

1. from what i have read, some people were having issues with the LED even with stamina mode off, which may be related to the next point.

Had my Z for four days, first day i played it with wi-fi, no problems at all.
Day after i shuted it down (and waited for a min) and install my sim and new 32G sdcard, i switched it on and just had a second of vibration and then had no reponse.
I tried to connect the charge station, charged with USB connection, push the button for over ten seconds.... no LED or boot image.
At last i connected to computer with USB connection + VOL up + power button, then the charging battery image came out, then i could power it up again. That's wierd.

I tried to connect the charge station, charged with USB connection, push the button for over ten seconds.... no LED or boot image.

that happened pretty often for my on my G-Nexus, but it had about a year of use on it before it actually started doing that. I remember cause I would freak out at first when it wouldn't turn on but after a couple of minutes if trying different things it came on.
I'm having problem with gmail and current apps.
For gmail, when I open some mails it just close the app every time. (Can open just fine on my tablet)
For current, when I open feeds with other languages news. It just go back on the topic after I pressed to read (only English works)
And my device is pretty damn hot after using it for a while.
But overall I still love it more than my previous S3 lol.

i agree with the device getting hot.
i was using it and just setting up my phone through settings,
and the top part was almost too hot to touch...
but it does cool down pretty quickly, i left it alone for about a minute and it was cool

[Q] Has anyone figured out the "mobile radio active" bug?

I know we've had some discussions on the "mobile radio active" found on some apps causing battery drain. Has anyone seen a fix for this yet? It is still driving me crazy.
huh? mobile radio active? whats that, a wakelock?

I was wondering why my battery life was horrible since updating.

I had this issue on 5.0, 5.01, and now 5.1. Been with it the whole time. I've tried different radios and clean flashes and wipes. Nothing is getting rid of it. When you search google there are some people with the same issue but nothing major which leads me to believe some things wrong with my phone and/or there's something causing this and it isn't normal.

That was mine too and what I did when I flashed 5.1
One issue I have is with the Facebook app and I believe that is causing a lot of my battery drain when not on WiFi. In a recent update Facebook removed the option to not automatically update news feed. Now I believe it refreshes very often causing massive drain.

This is NOT an Android bug. This is *possibly* a BAD SOFTWARE issue, or PERFECTLY NORMAL.
Every application that transfers ANYTHING over the network, will cause mobile data activity, which REQUIRES activity on the radio, and DOES draw battery power.
If an application transfers too much, or too often, or too slow, or anything else that will cause the radio to activate frequently or for longer periods of time, then you will see this mobile radio active timer increase.
And the MORE applications you have doing this, again, the more battery it will suck down.
Edit: Your example of pushbullet.... in order for that program to work, it needs to maintain persistent connections between each device you are using that program on, and the vendor's server. In order to maintain a persistent connection, packets have to be transferred across the route on a timed basis, where the time is less than the timeout on all of the routers along the route.
Conclusion: everything is working correctly as intended.

really? thats normal? then how come noone else is really seeing this "issue" other people say they dont have this so how would it be "normal" ? not saying it isnt because I dont know enough to know, but i would imagine if it was normal behavior then it would be on everyone's phone.
No way it's normal. I use chrome beta and it clocked over 3 hours of Mobile Radio Active today. I still got great battery life, but when Chrome Beta takes 20% and your screen takes 10%, something is wrong. It's not continuously updating as someone above suggested. It's a bug. The mobile radio is being kept active for no reason by seemingly random apps. I really hope someone figures out how to fix this.
Any update on this?
I've tried 5.1 e, l and now I builds and they're all doing the same thing.
I've tried chroma ROM as well, along with stock, lean, Franco and code blue kernels.
I've never been able to shake this problem.
Anyone know what its about?

No one has even confirmed it is a problem yet. Unlikely anyone is working on it.
At first, I was thinking this was app related, but after looking at all my background and running apps, it seems they all have this "bug". However, mine don't seem to be running that as long, which in turn isn't showing a big battery drain. Hence the fact that I never noticed it.
I am guessing that it is some wakelock that is set by the app, but all apps that connect to the internet are using it. However, I looked on my flo which is running BrokenOs 5.0.1 and it doesn't have this mobile radio active process. I will be updating it to BrokenOs 5.1.0 here in a bit to see if it appears. If not, then we can limit it to just the shamu. If that is the case, then we just need to locate it, probably in the kernel, and decide what to do with it...
I'll follow up with my findings later...
I hope there is a solution!
For me it is the problem with Android 5 or the nexus 6. although i dont think it is a problem with the nexus 6. After my recognition are different models (nexus 4, 5, some Samsung devices, moto x...) affected after updating to lollipop.
I have also test different (stock-)roms/ different kernels/ disabled some services/ tested different radios/ factory resets and freezed some system- or deinstalled all 3rd Party apps/ changed the messenger...
No problem in wlan but with 4g/3g is the value of mobile radio active to high that some "apps" (gpservices, android os, hangouts, telegram, sometimes chrome) now are on top of the battery stats. With bbs or wld i cant find the reason.

It *IS* on everyones phone.
Nobody is 'seeing' this, because there is nothing *TO* see. There is nothing *TO* see, because it is PERFECTLY NORMAL.
You can't seriously expect mobile data transfer to be done free of battery consumption, can you? It takes electricity to produce the electrical impulses that generate the radio waves that carry data to the remote cell tower. It takes electricity to run the radio processor cpu to receive and interpret the electrical impulses in the receiving antenna that are generated by the radio waves sent by the remote cell tower.

There is nothing to see when some apps on top of the battery stats (with 3g/4g) because of the high mobile radio active? Why are this value not so high on other devices with KitKat and then higher with lollipop?
Being connected to wifi for a period of time may help reveal more info.
Also, try using a whitelist firewall to only allow apps that you need to allow data. Or even block all traffic for a while and see what happens.
You could even block traffic on only cellular, and let only wifi pass traffic.
Another thing to verify would be whether airplane mode (wifi could be on) indeed causes the issue to completely go away as one would expect.

Galaxy S5 Androidâ„¢ version 6.0.1, Marshmallow feature discussion, plus and minus

I do not see any thread discussing features on GS5 marshmallow updates, so I am starting one.
Good Stuff
-- Wifi calling. When enabled, always tries to use wifi to call. Not sure how it works if wifi signal is fading. Does it revert to cell signal in real time?
Unlike T-mobile, airplane mode needs to be off to use wifi calling.
Not So Good Stuff
-- Less control in power saving mode. No more individual tweak for CPU power and display (gray scale). Only choices are power saving mode
and ultra power saving mode. Does it mean MM is more power efficient so we do not need those extra modes anymore?
Stock automatic brightness sucks in Marshmallow
Automatic brightness sucks now in Marshmallow. It is changed from static automatic from range bound. This is a Marshmallow change from Google. It suppose to work like this: you set a brightness point, and Android use ambient light sensor to adjust around the brightness point you set. I have a Nexus 5 phone and it works flawlessly.
With GS5, it never works right. This is always too dark in low light environment or too bright otherwise. Most of the time moving slider does not change anything when auto brightness is checked. Even if it responds once a while. Turning off the screen and on would reset it.
I did some research and downloaded Velis. It works surprisingly well. Will see if it drains battery.
I'm seeing huge improvements in battery life. I usually leave my phone in power saving mode on a desk during working hours and when I was in Lollipop, by the time I got out of work my battery would be at 42%. Today, my battery was at 91% after a 9 hour day. So far it's been on battery for almost 16 hours and is currently at 71%.
I will wait a few days and see if it settles down. My past experience is that the battery life gets worst after a fresh update for a few days and then goes back to normal.
I am missing the mobile hot spot though, it came in handy.

I just got the notification on my stock g900a a couple hours ago, and was looking for info on the update but have not found much yet, could you please clarify: does the update totally remove any option to use mobile hotspot? Just disable it, etc.?
I use this feature often while away from home and secure WiFi is not available for homework and other tasks where a keyboard is essential or a mobile device is not supported. I am hoping that there is some chance that the update just breaks it or something and the loss may not be permanent before I look in to blocking the update. I don't like 5.1.1, but loss of mobile hotspot would be a deal breaker; it was a major consideration into my initial choice to purchase.
Mobile hotspot works fine for me. Is it because it's unlocked and on another carrier? But that of course also means no wifi calling for me.
Automatic brightness control sucks. I get weird flickering instead of dimming when the screen starts to time out. Turn off auto brightness and it's fine. PG3 had the same problem for me.
I'm a big fan now of the update for the default Samsung Music Player (couldn't get it w/o MM)
You can't turn off the charger flap warning or disable the max volume warning...but you can at least disable the charger sound now.
Battery life is good...and I dare say (on both the official and unofficial official builds) consistent.
Wifi hotspot and tethering works for me.
Call quality is good. Call quality is REALLY nice when the other caller has a VOLTE capable phone.
In low signal areas...haven't had an issue with dropped calls or using mobile data.
Here are my thoughts.
1. I am getting some lag in the device. seems it does not hibernate apps well or just doesnt manage memory well. maybe I was just too used to a rooted device with greenify. I have tried greenify with no root but it just isnt the same. Pisses me of sometimes cause It gets REALLY laggy.
2. I cannot get mobile hot spot to work on ATT. It is supposedly enabled on my line (company device on company plan PER our ATT rep). but I get the attached error when I try it.
3. SMS fail to go through alot when on a Microcell. this issue stated with MM un-official and now Official.
4. I did get the battey cover and charge cover killed by using a debloater app. I just put phone in developer mode and enabled USB debug. then fired up this windows app and plugged computer in. it reads the apps and let me disable all the bloat crapola and the popupuiReceiver_m.apk app. Debloater by gatesJunior. Simple and easy to use.

5. Battery Life has been pretty decent once it settled in. I did just get new batteries though.
6. I do second the audio qualty. I have noticed that some people are MUCH louder and easier to understand. Especially on my Wife's new S7Active.
Good stuff:
Better hearing quality in calls
New icons
Being able to hide system notifications in the lock screen (such as airplane mode or power saving)
Bad stuff:
I'm probably nitpicking but when you turn power saving mode on it turns the notification trail from transparent to this opaque gray, which I know it's in order to save battery but it looks bad.

Also now the power saving notification is huge
Also when you turn off the device and turn it on again or restart you can't unlock with fingerprints the first time with a messasge saying: ''Unable to use fingerprints after restarting device. Enter password.'' I know it's a MM security policy but it's annoying
There is a choice to whether turn off all background data in power saving mode. If you did not turn on that one, you will get a much smaller notification msg. Mine only says "Device performance limited".
Yes, the gray notification bar for power saving mode is ugly. :cyclops:
What brand are the batteries that you got? and where did you purchase them from?

My phone was originally from AT&T and I moved to Cricket. When I was in Lollipop my phone was rooted and I flashed the Wifi_Hotspot update to enable it. Now I can't use it. I get the same error as pickupman66 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68464559&postcount=7
Battery life is not better. its either at par with lolipop or worse. If you think you are getting better battery life.. that is just a placebo effect. i.e. this is new stuff so must be because of it I am getting better battery. It could simply be 10 other things.
Overall zero value. not sure why I needed to update.
I read somewhere that MM doze mode would turn off a lot of services to save battery if the phone is stationary for a while. This could be the reason this guy sees a huge battery life improvement. He did state that he left the phone on the table.
I like it.
I am always a fan of updating, except when it cost money. My battery life actually improved. It came from 1/2 of a day to 3/4 to 3/4 of a day to whole day. I like the new icon pack. Still had a lot of bloat ware. My speed improved. Yes I like it. Sad thing is. It came out after 7.0 came out .
Check out this verbiage from greenify. The white list goes to apps that are not optimized.

I highly recommend using Package Disabler Pro v6.3b47. You can get it from Mobilism Market if you search for it. There are a lot of similar named apps but don't work nearly as well. Make sure you get v6.3b47.
Also, I just started experiencing the screen flickering issue on MM PG3. Eventually screen wouldn't even turn on. After a few days, I noticed it only happened at night and in the morning, not as bad during the day. I Googled the issue and basically, yes it is an auto-brightness issue and also related to the AMOLED screens the S5 has. This article, as well as others, give great detail and information as to why it happens and what is going on as well as practical solutions. Fwiw, none of the solutions for screen flickering worked for me EXCEPT: simply turning up the brightness on my phone. I had it set around 30% with auto brightness off. At that level, screen was always flickered when dimming, and when turning back on. But simply sliding the brightness up to about 60% solved the issue. Kind of annoying, because I like to have the brightness down to extend the battery life a bit. But whatever.
That is very interesting. If I recall correctly I purchased my S5 soon after it was released. I have not had any screen flickering at all.

For now it didnt consume too much battery i would say that even none
But what i ask for help is if anyone could check the privacy of this and if we can debate which one is the best for this
Thanks in advance to all,

If you want to be sure this app doesn't send your data to an external server, you can install NetGuard No-root firewall and block this app.

I have an A40 coming and I think this is the only gripe I have with it compared to my old phone (well, maybe lack of ROMs too). Are you sure it doesn't affect battery? Have you actually checked battery drain over hours to prove it?
Maybe I will check it for us when mine arrives.

4PDA have AOD working too using Samsung's own apps.
Edit: Installed an app called Notify Buddy which does the job well, no battery issues overnight. Two gripes:
1. Screen blink for a millisecond as it wakes and then displays a black screen with LED in corner.
2. Since screen is now technically on, fingerprint doesn't wake the phone as you would expect from a lock screen.
Official Samsung One UI AOD on Samsung Galaxy A40
Hello,
is there a way to get the official Samsung One UI AOD on the Samsung Galaxy A40 with or without root access? I'm just wondering because I already had AOD on some other Samsung devices which had Android 8.0 Oreo.
thanks
How it works after some times?
If let always on (like the native one) use a lot of battery?
If used not like an aod but only for notification "led" have it less consume? The blink continues until you read the notification or always for a limited time?

The problem isn't the android version, it's a senseless choice of Samsung.
Maybe some of good lock apps can add it you should try always on display and edge light

No, I haven't tried that. I don't use Google Play (I refuse to have a Google account on my phone) but if it is in apkpure I will try it.
I still have the Notify Buddy installed. By default it notifies for 30 minutes but this is adjustable. The screen blink is only annoying when I am asleep, so I think I will try to get a scheduler to turn the whole app off at night and back on in the morning. I've gotten used to the screen actually being "on" when it looks off, but I would prefer if Notify Buddy could access the fingerprint sensor and open the screen from it.

well it is quite a lot , the phone is not goin into deep sleep along as the led is active , for an example if you get a notification for 30 mins it wont enter deep sleep if you get more the phone will keep staying awake , its litteraly like you have your phone awake displaying a black image
Yeah, this is what I said. When notifying of something the screen is on, so you cannot "unlock" it as it is already unlocked. Therefore you need to swipe up and press home, not use the fingerprint.
Change clock format
hi, is it possible to change the clock to 24h format?

Mmm you're right. And if I use the always on display like the stock one: clock and symbols of the notifications but no blinking. Is it the same thing (no deep sleep) ?
Also, double tap to wake still works?

from my understanding our device is lacking a small physical storage chip witch should be a part a of the display called display memory. so as long as the display is on displaying anything the cpu wont go to deep sleep
im assuming that cause aod wont allow deep sleep even in gsi roms so that must be it
Can someone make always on display working on galaxy a40
Please someone make original always on display working on a40
