i found this too much annoying to popup the google app (search screen) by only keep press the home button for 1 second only?
because I keep accidentally bringing up this damn Google search page instead of the home screen
how can i disable this without disabling google app ?
Menu -> Settings -> Apps -> Settings -> Default App settings -> Assistance & Voice input and change Assist App to none

Root your phone and flash CM7
This is asn app that works really well and does not need you to have a rooted phone...about as close as you can get without rooting. Used it for a while with my Nexus s until the nightlies starting running. Not quite as good as CM7 but a really good alternative!
'Power Control Plus' on AppBrain: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.siriusapplications.eclairwidgets

I prefer to use Quick Settings, search for it on appbrain (I can't post links as newish account, but long time android user)
I like it because it can be configured to look like a dialogue box on top of the app that is currently open (menu -> preferences -> appearance -> Dialog). Also you can hide the notification bar icon so it doesn't clutter the bar up (menu -> preferences -> Status bar shortcut -> Add & hide icon).
I prefer it over Power Control Plus because its free, and you can access it anywhere, and not just from the home screen. for custom Power widgets i also prefer Widgestsoid 2.X (again search on appbrain for same reasons)
but that requires more set up to make a "power" widget.
Hope you like more choices!

thanks ill definitely look into it!
I flashed into CM7 and its working great so far.
So far I've found myself using two settings very often,
settings -> about phone -> battery use
settings -> applications -> manage applications
I'd like these to be buttons on my homescreen if that is possible.
Is that possible?
Does the fact that I'm using syndicate rom 1.1.0 and launcher pro plus change the answer at all?

Most stock roms will pull task manager up if you long press the home key. As for battery use, well settings is on your left soft key, that's as good as it gets

Sorry, somehow I put this in s-9000's forum instead of epic 4g.
For application manager I meant, at least for the epic, the stock location that can be used to install and uninstall programs.
You can use launcher pro for this purpose I believe.
Long press on desktop -> Actions (or something similar, don't remember) -> Find the battery info text
Yeah actions should do the trick. Takes a while to locate what you want though.
After installing a custom ROM on my Nexus One and upgrading from Gingerbread (2.3.6) I was confused when I wasn't able to find the "Hide Caller ID" setting in JellyBean. However, to my fortune and your benefit, I have found this setting hidden away in the phone app!
You simply go to your Phone app --> hit the capacitive menu button --> hit Settings --> Additional Settings --> Caller ID --> Hide number
and there you go!
Thank you, this helped a lot
Pretty straightforward, thank you!
Great!
I was looking for it at the phone settings under "Wireless & Networks" where it normally is without finding it. So thanks for the hint.:good:
Not working to me

I am running 4.1.2, and I only see the folowing:
I hit the App menu button, then hit the capacitive menu button, which displays these 2 options only:
Manage apps
System settings,
There is no "Additional Settings" under "System Settings".
Please help!!!
Is it possible to enable menu button like it was by default in older phones? I use few old apps which require this functionalty.
In MIUI 7 it could be set in Settings -> Additional Settings -> Buttons but I cannot find it in my EVA-L09C432B170 with EMUI 4.1.
I have problem with Xiaomi 12 PRO Dimensity, MIUI 14.0.4.0.TLGCNXM , and 70MAI app + Dashcam PRO.
The app 70mai keeps saying that i need to connect to the wifi of the dashcam, but i am!
I have same error on WiFi(connect to wifi network) is with Philips WIZ app when connect new device....(but phone is connected to WiFi).
Permission for that apps is granted - full, from Setting.
The phone was reset to default settings, twice....
Maybe someone have the solution....
With MI 11 global version + MIUI 13, the 70MAI and Philips WIZ is working, all it's ok.
me too. cant connect 70mai dashcam . miui 14 ANDROID 13
For me the solution was:
1) Settings -> Privacy protection -> Protection tab -> Privacy protection lab -> enable "Approximate location".
2) Long-tap app icon -> App info -> Permissions -> Get location info -> tap "Approximate location is on" to turn it off
Thanks to community Xiaomi for help.

I'm on latest stable but I don't have Approximate location in privacy tab, could be a different SecurityCenter app version?
