I just installed Cm 7 alpha 3 and I am trying to install the latest Skype but it fails when I just run the . apk and when I go into cwm I do not have the install. Apk?
Anyone know how I can install this..?

you dont install apks in cwm, you do it in android.
go to settings-> applications, and check the unknown sources box
then go to the file manager built into android, navigate to the apk, and then click on it. you will be prompted to install the app.
hit install and it will be installed.
Cheers, I will try that tomorrow.

"File Manager" is not built in to the version Sony Ericsson uses. Glad to see it on the TouchPad though. Let me ask: Is there a "notepad" or "notes" app that is supposed to be built in? SE didn't include one of those either.
If you're looking for an amazing file explorer replacement ES File Explorer is AMAZING! It looks great, has gesture support and even skins/themes.

I've actually used it before and I do agree: It's good. I was just curious about the "built in" statement because, to my knowledge, there is no standard one "built in" to Android and it can be a problem.
CM7 has one built it but a pure AOSP build like the SDK doesn't IIRC.

Download one from Play Store. ES should get you started.
I use file manager hd, from rhythm software, available free in the play store. Use the version for tablets, it works great.

Well what Rom have you Flashed? The more information you provide the easier it is to provide an answer, as the gapps will vary depending on your Rom.
I can download and search for the apps fine but once it's actually installing, the package installer is stuck.
Download and install a previous version of Aptoide. The same problem you describe, appeared on me with the latest version of Aptoide.

For Aptoide, not. You must however, enable the "unknown packages" option in the Settings\Security panel.
i have the same problem
this problem is caused by aptoide , in the new versione the file downloaded havent .apk extension and the installer doesn't work
if rename the file EXAMPLE in EXAMPLE.apk the installer works correctly but u have to do this with all the application downloaded :/
i want to try to modify to rename the file with extension
Is there an app that's similar or better than aptoide?

blackmart are similar but i prefer aptoide :/
Aptoide is the best cydia-like app we have in Android. That's the end of it. If anyone else is experiencing installation problems with the latest versions of Aptoide, all he has to do is simply install an older version of Aptoide. It may be simpler in looks, but, most importantly, it WORKS!

Do the apps update themselves when you use aptoide?
Had the same problem on aptoide 4... revert to 2.7.1 and it'll be fine

Do the apps update themselves on aptoide or do you have to install the latest one whenever it comes out?
Does anyone know where to install an old version of aptoide? Whenever I try, it always gives me 4.0
Works fine fir me, after upgrading to 4.0 just delete the .aptoide folder then stop the app and clear data in app settings.
Relaunch let it add the default repo and any updating onstalls fine...

Root or not doesn't matter in this case.

Exactly! Here's location of aptoide apps: "/sdcard/.aptoide/apks" They should be named with long, strange numbers

It appears that for some reason, there are Huawei users out there who don't have the full control Permissions App is their settings.
I've read particularly, that P8 users don't have control of their permissions settings.
Huawei released an App that modifies the system a while ago and put it on Play Store - for some reason I can't find it anymore so I've put up a link here.
It's called PM Plus, it's a very small apk (48kb) but it's excellent and it's the first thing I install on any Huawei I get.

It is best to update the B380, Phone Manager are working well and does not need any changes. In version B370 Phone Manager.apk you must copy it to / data / app /. (Phone Manager application can not be Installed), restart your phone. In case of problems you need to uninstall the Phone Manager.apk update. Root necessary !! Valid for H60-L04.
In this thread I will explain you how to downgrade to snapchat v9.3.1.0 so you can use snapprefs again[ROOT].
Requirements:
- Latest snapchat version installed
- snapchat 9.3.1.0.apk
- Titanium Backup
- Xposed installer
1. Make sure you have logged in to your latest snapchat version.
2. Open up Titanium Backup and go to Backup/Restore > Snapchat > and Click Backup !
3. Now got to your currently installed snapchat APP info and click clear data and then uninstall it.
4. Now install snapchat 9.3.1.0.apkAfter install is complete DO NOT OPEN SNAPCHAT!!!
5. go back to Titanium Backup and go to Backup/Restore > Snapchat > Restore > MAKE SURE YOU CLICK "DATA ONLY"
6. Just download xposed installer and snapprefs and you will be ready to go!
Great
This guide worked great for me! Thanks mate for this.
I dont really understand the backup part. Why då you need to backup? It's just to uninstall and install and done?

Because you can use a older version of snapchat if you are already use it but you can't log in
I kind of do it in reverse. I have a backup of Snapchat 9.3.1.0 in Titanium and using the 9.7.0.0 apk to install snapchat. So...
- Install latest Snapchat from either playstore or grab the apk from apkmirror
- Login to snapchat
- Open titanium and restore ONLY APP for Snapchat 9.3.1.0
Obviously latest xposed unofficial and snapprefs are installed and working properly too. Either method seems to work though.
I did it both ways and cant get it to work
thanks i really needed this!

Are you sure xposed is installed and working properly? What rom and device are you using? I noticed when I flash some roms I tend to have issues with SELinux (enforcing vs permissive) or it seems maybe some roms are so heavily optimized with all these wacky unnecessary toolchains that xposed just doesnt work at all on it.
Lol I was actually about to post again. I got it working. Stock rom BTW

I accidentally deleted my old backup and i cannot log into the old version. Any idea how to work it?
Nvm im dumb
Just download the latest version, log into it and make a back up. Then delete the latest version. And install the old version and restore your made back up.

Or use the Xinstaller Xposed module and just install the 9.3.1.0 apk over the latest after you logged in, no need for Titanium Backup.
Can someone tell me what is so good about the snapprefs 1.4.2 ?
and does anyone know how to share a library pic and make it my story, as when I share a pic from my library i can only individually send it to people

Everything works on 1.4.2, and many don't like what Snapchat has done to the app as far as changes go.
For sharing, the latest 1.4.5 works fine sharing images from your gallery to your story or to individuals.

Hey Guys, im currently trying to get Snapchat working on my Desire HD with MIUI. I have Android 2.3.7.
I want to try this method but i cant download the latest app version because my device doesn't support it.
Could somebody may create a new accound, backup the data with Titanium and maybe upload it somewhere? I don't know what else i could do.
I'm on Miui8. I tried this method. Everything was going good. But at last when I restored the data, snapchat automatically logged me out of it.

It's possible you downloaded the wrong version of the app. If you look at various apps on APKMirror, such as Google Photos, there are many different variants available. You want to use an arm64-v8a version, preferably "nodpi" as that should work with all devices.

For some reason Google made an absurd last minute decision to make 32bit arm apps incompatible with the Pixel 7 at the software level. There is a workaround which I can confirm does work, as I am using it, but to get it to work if you have already rooted your phone with magisk you will have to backup your data and then do a wipe of the device.
The workaround is at this thread

There's a new restriction with Android 13 for sideloaded apps not from Play Store, F-Droid and maybe other stores. I ran into it with an apk from Github. Your error doesn't relate but installing from a file manager is a symptom. In any case, if you think this restriction could be part of your problem search ACCESS_RESTRICTED_SETTINGS for a possible workaround.
@Nnik345 here you can find an answer and imo you should ask related questions better here instead of opening a new thread.
