Runkeeper and other running apps are closing - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi there,
My OP is working fine since the update to 4.02 except for 1 thing. The apps I use for recording my running workouts are closing after a while. I have tried different apps (runkeeper, polar beat, Strava) but they are all having the same problem. After a while (not always the same time) they close. All my battery save options are disabled. I tried to lock it in the recents screen.
On 3.x.x roms there was no problem and yes I did a factory reset after the update, my phone is stock no root etc....
I'm thinking about going back to 3.x.x rom if there is no solution for this

Ok.. Thnx.... Haven't tried that... Try it by next workout...but what does it exactly do? Do I've to enable the function? Now I switched it on put the apps in the upper section "allow apps to start automaticly" (translate that because it's in dutch on my phone) and then disabled the function. Is that ok or do I have to leave it on?

Under settings, battery, menu, high power usage apps. Do you have this set to on?

[Q] How to disable popup warning AFTER charging?

Hi,
I recently got a wireless charging receiver for the phone and now I get this annoying popup which says to close the micro usb properly to prevent water damage.
This happens also sometimes during charging in the middle of the night.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the popup? To make it clearer, it is not the flashing text that appears when the phone is connected to the charger. ( this can be disabled via xposed module)
The one I am talking about is more like a text with a white background picture.
"for protection against water damage firmly seal the charging cover before use"
Anyone else with the "problem" ?
I am on NEE-I9295XXUBMK2.
Thanks for the help in advance.

this also happens when I disconnect the device from USB.

I second that!
I have found battery_cover_notice.xml in systemui\res\layout
There is an battery_cover_notice_image and an battery_cover_notice_message
The Pic is help_img_usb.png in folder systemui\res\drawable-hdpi
Now you can try and delete the battery_cover_notice.xml from the SystemUI

I tried and it worked ( at least the popup doesn't appear anymore) but I do not have a notification area at the top anymore. No clock, Signal or anything.
Perhaps it's because of the odex file? Didn't touch that.
I will try it again. Might be, I did something wrong.....
Thanks
okay thanks for feedback...
I will investigate this....
So is there no non-root way of disabling this?

I am.
No solution found so far.
Only I remember - that started after OTA update from Samsung in later 2013.
On original software I didn't have such warning.
Before and after is 4.2.2 Android, I didn't notice any changes, so I am lookiing for old firmware to download...
p.s. I also have wireless charger from "indiegogo"

Cloud it be that this notice is a toast with a custom theme? You could check it with my app EnhancedToast, and hide it if it is a toast. Enable logging in the app and watch it.And yes, root is required for Xposed. Btw, the Google edition don't show it at all

^Mostly what I was going to say, so thanks.
You should check EnhancedToast if you can, and you could always switch ROM's - I'm loving the CM 10.2 ROM, which doesn't have the warning, and offers a lot of other advantages. If a notification comes up in the bar, long-press it and see if comes up with the "app info" button - it could be run through some sort of stock app that you could disable or uninstall altogether.
Hi everyone! I'm new on the forum and in smartphones as well. Rooted GT-i9252 last week. Starting to develop app in future.

Any good source to learn more of ROMs? What do I lose if I dump the original, what do I get with some other ROM?
How should I backup? Meaning there's lot's of data:
- contacts and messaging and that stuff
- pictures, music, videos etc
- OS (?)
- ROM
- Apps (downloaded and system)
Maybe someone could explain the best practice to backup ROM,OS and apps.
Thanks in advance, Kaptah.

What method of rooting your phone did you use? They are not the same thing, but it is possible to do them both at the one time. If everything looks different, then yes, you would have changed your ROM while rooting.

This problem appeared/reappeared when i upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.3 (ML2)
After rooting ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690133 )
and disabling KNOXagent it still gives this warning, which it did not do after the 4.2.2 Active Root.
This is merely an annoyance but if someone figures out a quick way to disable it that would be grand.
i have this issue too. cant wait for a fix for this. just updated to 4.3 a few days ago and having to tap the bubble everytime is just annoying. why the hell would they add these rediculous notifications? its not like att or samsung will stand behind the "waterproof" claim anyway..... water damage weather the door is open or closed means your screwed no matter what.
I've personally tried using the "EnhancedToast" module for xposed and the prompts do not register as toast events. It has to be something else.

Auto-rotate issues

Hi all, hoping to find a solution to an issue I've been having with a new N6. The Auto-rotate feature is refusing to activate when I put the phone on its side. Apps which force landscape mode (eg Netflix) can still function normally, its just rotating when the phone is sideways that doesn't work.
Things I have tried:
reboot
un-check and then re-check autorotate in the swipe down quick access menu
un-check and then re-check "landscape mode on rotate" in settings > display.
verify accelerometer is working ("check my android" and "accelerometer monitor" both show active readings on all three axes)
None of the above have worked. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? All the threads I found by searching the forums were fixed by checking the accelerometer with the above-mentioned apps.
Device info:
Nexus 6, rooted and unlocked, running stock android 5.1 ROM over the latest leankernel.
go into your main settings, accessibility, now enable it. now you can use the iption in the pulldown as well.

Not sure what you are talking about. Home screen does not rotate . That is a hack. If apps not rotating then have a problem. I run stock rooted with LeanKernel and rotation works as it should.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I mean that the Auto-rotate feature is not working in any scenario when I turn the phone over, for example in chrome or on YouTube or any other applicable. The only way I am able to enable landscape mode is to use an all which forces landscape mode (eg Netflix), but this does not fix the Auto-rotate even temporarily, and switching to an app like YouTube afterwards resumes the issue.

Fastboot flash the images separately. Don't flash the userdata.img. Will keep your data. If have Google restore enabled it now restores most everything if you do wipe data. Can use TIBU but have to move the backup to PC if you wipe data as you will lose it. Can actually make a zip file with TIBU to backup that also requires root and a custom recovery such as TWRP. Sucks with no external sd. Lol

Sorry to be a bore but I'm not 100% clear on what you mean by "fastboot flash the images separately". I didn't think it was possible to, for example, flash a fresh copy of a ROM or kernel without deleting data. Are you advising me to flash something else?
Apologies if its a silly question - I'm still relatively new to the game.
Managed to work out what the above poster meant, and reflashed the bootloader, radio, boot and system images successfully. Unfortunately my phone still refuses to autorotate is there anything else I can try or is it time to get a replacement?

For me a workaround was to make sure the app I want notifications from is running, then press the recents button and find the app on the list, then swipe the app down, it will only move a little way then spring back and also obtains a small padlock icon.
You will probably also need to go to the settings menu and find either protected apps or app settings (depends if you are using the Lollipop version or the Marshmallow beta) and enable the setting for the app which makes it stay awake when the phone sleeps.
Thanks so so much. I try this out
You have tomark the app to run in background...
this is no bug it is an energy saving feature.
the device has a stock white list of apps allowed to run in background.
but normally you re asked if an app should be able to run in background or not.
any app that is not allowed to will be closed immediately in standby

Bad experience with the new One UI update

After the update, those 2 useless bars appeared I've tried to find every setting to turn them off but I can't find any (I already looked in the Edge Screen and all those advanced function settings) nothing helps

I dont have the issue, i haven't factor reset too. Few people have it and it was solved by reset. It is highly advisable to factory reset. Those lines are actually a navigation gesture. If you swipe download from the line, it acts as back button and swipe straight horizontally to go to home. Swipe upwards for recent apps.
Make backup using smart switch and use google to sync game progress.

Question Did anyone find a solution against the agressive background killing of apps?

Apps will automatically close within 10-20 seconds after I leave the app through the home gesture. It drives me crazy that literally no app will stay open in my recents. I tried locking the apps in the recents, it did not help. (What's the sense of locking apps there then?!)
Anyone has a solution/workaround?
Just select to not optimize that app in battery settings....
I'm on OOS 13 Open Beta 2 build and haven't encountered this issue at all. Apps stay in background for hours honestly.
Maybe check Battery Optimization for each of those apps and permit Background Activity?

Thats so weird because they won't stay open in the background for like most of us. 10 seconds after I minimize an app like Gmail, then reopen it, I will be greeted with the Spash Screen of Gmail which takes like 1-2 seconds.
Chrome is even more annoying, since the website I was on 10 seconds ago, will have to reload.
It's stupidly annoying and I tried everything to get it fixed. With this behavior of RAM, that Apps close withing literaly seconds, 2 GB RAM could have also made the deal
