Someone wants to trade my HTC Rezound for a Droid 4...i kinda want something new until my upgarde (in October) and was just wondering if you guys think this is a good trade.
The guy also said he upgraded the battery and he had a pro do it at cellus...i thought that the battery couldn't be removed?

That sounds a little fishy to me. I've never heard of anyone successfully upgrading the battery on a D4.

That's what i was saying..he said he paid 89.99 for it...im supposed to meet him at a Verizon store Sunday to trade so i guess ill get a look at it then.
The battery can be removed with some effort, however I'm not sure if it can be upgraded (as that usually requires a different battery cover).

Tons of glue adheres the glue that is securing the glue to the glue that holds the phone together.

No problems with replacing battery with same original battery. There only 2 screws.
My D4 is nearing 20 months old. Li Ion batteries degrade over time. Is it time to replace it? How do I ensure I get a recently manufactured one rather than a unit that's been on the shelf for 20 months?
Well since the D4 has a built in battery im very doubtful you can replace it. If you are rooted try calibrating the battery. I bought my D4 2 weeks after its release in Feb of 2011......I think. Lol I have had no issues with it once I calibrate it. Here is the link to the app i use that works great for me. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

The battery is very easy to replace - it's simply a matter of opening the back, peeling off the sticker, popping off a little rubber cover, unscrew the terminals, and gently lift the battery out (it's held in with a bit of adhesive tape, but there is a little tab to lift it out with). Literally a 60 second job, honestly.
I'm still puzzled why they made it a "built in" battery. If the connector was a slot type like on the Droid 3, etc, then it would have worked just as well, but for some reason they decided to make it so the terminals were screwed in. Odd.
Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks for the info. Right now calibrating has been working real good considering the length of time I've had it. So since you can replace it. Do you have an idea of when, if at all, I should replace it?

Whenever you don't think it's lasting long enough, I guess. The price of batteries for the D4 seems to have steadily been dropping over recent months. I wonder if it's because the phone is definitely at its end of life, and suppliers are wanting to shift the stock they have? It might be worth buying one if you plan to keep the phone for anything length of time - better that, than try and buy one in 6 months time when there aren't (m)any about, and the price has gone up.
Cheers,
Steve.

Idk how long i will keep it. I have an HTC Rezound with a cracked screen and just havent bought a new lcd digitizer for it. My bf called it a dinosaur a couple weeks ago but i love the 5 row keyboard but alas it part of a dying breed......): I think part of the reason for the price drop is because of all the technology that has ome out and that has become available in the almost 3yrs since the D4 was released.
I'm planning on keeping my D4 for a long time Is there anyone here who's got some inside info on how long the batteries might be available? I'll try and find some friend who's got a trip to the US as long as these are on stock

I've had a few shipped from China via eBay and Alibaba - they seem genuine to me, as far as I can tell, and perform just fine.
So hey all.
I'm coming from S3 and for it, I had a Zerolemon 7000mah battery.
There is no way now to do without external battery, and for N4,there are not plenty of them available.
So, this is my plan:
1x Anker Slim 3 6000mah battery pack
1x matte rugged case so I can glue/attach my Anker to it
Voila, there I have external 6000mah battery pack, easily carried with my N4 cover.
However, the holes beetween battery pack and cover looks doesn't look good, any ideas how to make that thing better?
Problems:
-camera use, the battery covers the whole backplate (need to remove the whole case to take a pic)
-weight, looking
PS. I don't care if it looks ugly, I just care about the mAhs.
What do you think?

First of all thanks for the idea and for sharing with us
Second, each person has to think if it is worth it, depending on the things they need in their phones, for examle, for me the phone look is essential, and this is true till the point that I don't use any case/bumper on it, just a screen protector and a dbrand skin. I personally use the phone to take lots of pics, so this would be an annoying solution for me, but for a person who doesn't take pics or care about the look but the battery life this would be a great invention.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply and pointing out that thing. Yes, I completely understand and respect people who think phones look is important. For me it was too, until I rode over my S3 wit a bike, haha. I don't know will my thoughts change when my N4 arrives, damn it has so nice glass backplate!
Just saw this randomly on reddit...
A guy has swapped his Nexus 5 battery for the battery from G2 to increase 30% battery size and every function seems work just fine...
Does anyone of you guys dare to try this on your Nexus 5?

Why did he choose the batteries compatible with LG G2 D800 and D802.
it seems they are genuine OEM batteries. Will other version batteries work?

This is old news. There was a thread with pics. It's not very feasible and you need to mod round the battery plus other problems with the connections

Actually the new modification just requires you cut an aluminum cross bar and swap the battery cable. To make it fit the plastic shield also needs a little cut but it works properly compared to the old one which either broke features or cut the speaker.
Feel free to try it. I put a new standard one in last week and was looking at the phone out of the case for the first time in a year thinking I'd love the phone twice as thick with the extra space all battery. Phones don't need to be so darn thin at the cost of usability
Hey guys!
Two days ago I've bought myself a Note 5 N920C used. The phone looks good, and it works perfect, but the battery doesn't work as intended.. it drops from 40% to 6% in 2-3 minutes, while updating some Playstore apps.. with the screen turned off.
So.. my question is, where on Amazon (UK preferably), or what model should I order ? Are there genuine batteries, or all of them are fake ?
Thanks!
Anyone, anything ?
I should be able to help you, I once replied to this - but XDA forums is pretty broken for me with Chrome on Android. (~1 minute page load times)
I've had to replace my battery twice.
Have a look at this picture:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1...xy_Note_5_Battery_Pic1_large.jpg?v=1466274913
Please make sure all of these things exist - to increase your chances of a genuine battery.
-Hopefully the listing stays 'genuine'. (say on ebay)
-Note the Samsung logo.
-Note the serial number & date up the top, fakes/replacements don't have this format or it doesn't exist.
-Ensure everything else looks sound.
-And check the MAH (capacity).
There are some things you really need to know before cracking it out. Mind if we voice call? I found out some things the hard way. Those disassembly videos tend to gloss over some things.
(Like just how much you really have to heat up the back, best technique to pull off without breaking, how damn sticky the battery glue is (may pierce battery), etc)

Hey dude, thanks for the reply!
Yes.. not having XDA forum on Tapatalk.. is really a hard thing to browse around!
I will take the phone to a GSM shop, so that they will mount the battery inside.. I am afraid to mess with it.. because I'm pretty sure I will crack the back glass, haha!
Thank you very much for all the details!
P.S. What model of Note 5 you have, and what model of battery you bought ?
How much is a shop going to change it for? I think you should do it yourself imo, $16 for battery, $4 for tools, $15 for heatgun - if you break the back, it's only $9. Imo, you should get the experience, as you may need to replace the screen next time.
I have a 920c, all of the Samsung variants have compatible batteries for this device.
As your old battery is no good. It should be quite easy to heat it up and get in with the tool kits which provide guitar picks.

Oh.. you have the 920C like I do! What battery code did you had inside your phone ?
Keeping in mind I don't live in the US, here the prices are a bit bigger for a heatgun, and for the tools..
A gsm shop that has a lot of good reviews, charges around 55$ for everything.
I surely hope that I will not need to replace the screen anytime soon.. haha! That is the most expensive part of this phone!

I think you'll be quite surprised at the prices, you're in Europe. I'm in New Zealand for one. There is often free shipping for such items.
Here is what SCAM/FAKE batteries can look like:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-G...606736?hash=item3aed41aa10:g:kgMAAOSwqXZZwSZI
https://www.amazon.com/Quality-3000...89&sr=1-8&keywords=note+5+replacement+battery
Here is what seems to be a legitimate: (Note Samsung logo, position of QR code, black seal edging, 'CELL MADE IN KOREA, ASSEMBLED IN CHINA')
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-EB...443227?hash=item4d63a81b5b:g:upkAAOSwufpZwIPS
Here's why I don't trust a shop:
-They may put in a fake battery.
-They may leave the seal damaged, and you won't know.
-They may damage the backplate rather than replace, and still charge you the same.
-They may put the back on and leave dust in the camera.
Here's why it's good to know:
-You have the tools for good.
-You can replace parts in the future, you may need to replace the battery or display or camera or usb port.
-Could work out cheaper - despite buying tools.
As someone who's replaced the screen twice and battery twice. (Samsung support sucks when you're on holiday) I can honestly say Samsung has cheap build quality. The battery is much easier than say - a screen replacement. All you can break is the back and the old battery.

Thanks for the link. Repairing this phone is really not difficult. Using the right amount of heat the back comes off without breaking in about 7 minutes and removing the battery requires some more heat and a little bit more prying. Replacing the digitizer requires heat and some patience.
I know this is an old thread, but has anyone bought one of these batteries recently? I want to replace the battery on my N920P, but have no idea which battery is good to buy. I don't want to spend the time and money only to waste my time. I looked for the craftman batteries above, but don't seem to see them online either.

Hi - did you have to replace the adhesive during battery replacement process?
Or re-use the existing one?
I am expecting mine battery to arrive in couple of days just wanna be sure I have everything before I start the procedure.
Thank you
So I took the plunge and bought a battery someone else suggested from Fry's electronics. It was only 15 bucks and I picked it up in person. It was EXTREMELY hard to remove the back cover, even after heating it a lot. I ended up basically destroying the back cover to get into the phone. So far the battery seems to be running OK, but I'll be able to report back on its performance in a few days.
In case anyone is still monitoring this thread. I went ahead and found a battery at Fry's electronics for 15 bucks and went through with the replacement. I completely shattered the back glass in the process so I had to get a replacement. So far it's been very good. I went from 3 hours screen on time to about 4.5 hours. Basically, I'm getting 50% more battery life overall and don't have to charge the battery in the middle of the day any more. Accubattery showed that I had 1800mAh of life left in the previous one and this one shows about 2700-2850 depending on the reading.
Here's the battery I got. It was only 15 bucks and I picked it up in store too.

I had to replace the back glass, but I can tell you that the glue should still be plenty strong to hold the glass on if you don't break the glass in the process. I put the broken one in its place for a week while the replacement came. Although it was in a case, It was still held on firm by the glue that's there, and that's with me having peeled off most of the glue since I had screwed it up so badly anyway.

Quick charging works perfectly fine. I don't really use NFC so I can't test that out, but as far as I know the NFC capability is not built into our batteries in the Note 5. If you have an easy way of me testing it out then I can try it out for you.
I believe you are correct about how the NFC is not built into the battery itself. I will go ahead and order this battery and give it a try.
Thanks again!

How is that battery working out? I want to replace mine as well and am looking for a reliable aftermarket one that won't last only 2 months or blow up my phone.
