[SOLVED] Question about firmware found with Firmware Finder - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

My P9 Plus is a VIE-L09C25B100 and I downloaded the app Firmware Finder to check if there was any update for my phone since I couldn't find any OTA update. The app found the firmware of the screenshots and I'd like to know if it's a safe FW.

Hey man, and no, nothing, zero. I guess I will stay with B100 for a while.
Just a quick question, do you know the actual page to unlock the bootloader? I have tried with a couple of links posted here and they take me to EMUI 5 web page and I know the other way is to pay to get the unlock code.
Thank you for helping me again lol

A possible method for ANY P9 to update to Android 7.0

I have tried it and it works perfectly for my Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636B190. I think this method will work on ANY model of P9, any region.
I'm now on EVA-L09C636B320. With everything normal. No development version. I think it is offical. Now im trying to update to B361 with the same method.
Here's what you need:
Huawei Hisuit
Huawei firmware finder
Huawei updater
First, make sure your P9 is updated to the latest EMUI 4.1.1, then use the firmware finder, simply choose the 'common database', and enter your model number, such as 'EVA-L09C636', then click 'update' of the first version of B3xx, but dont download it.
Try to copy the download link 'http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1/full/update.zip'
And delete everything after 'f1' make it like this ''http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1'
Then you can use the method in this thread

And enjoy your new Android.

Hello there, I did every step mentioned by OP here and did the steps detailed in the linked post. Everything is going fine, firmware is downloading and if I'm lucky it will finish doing it in about 3 or 4 hours (yes, ****ty conection). Anyways, Firmware Finder found this EVA-L09C605B360 and I'm currently on EVA-L09C605B135 I can clearly see that it may work and have Nougat by the end of this day that but I'm concerned about this method and its safety; is it safe, can I trust in FF? Am I doing any damage or restricting this phone's future capability to receive OTAs? Like I said I got plenty of time to stop the update process if in any case my phone is going to be bricked or dead by flashing lol
I'm expecting your answers or experiences
Cheers.

Hi, thanks for reply
Unfortunately I'm not sure if OTA works or not. Because there's still no official update through OTA.
But the update for me works fine, no bugs found currently.

So that means if OTAs don't work we will have to update following the same procedure we followed here to update to a more recent compilation/version of the ROM? Thanks for answering!
im on l09c34b140 and with the method theres no update apart from the one i have (my one seems to be the latest). Would it work if i just used a c636 version or sth like that?

Wow thats old Firmware, u should use Firmware Finder and update manually.
I have the same phone and never recived any OTA to my phone so i have always updated manually. Problem is that i live in Sweden and C636 is a Asian cust and if u don have a simcard from Asia u wont recive OTA.

Here is a guide, the latest firmware is B202 for EMUI 4.1 i think u can go direct to B202 from B103.
What you need?
1. Charged phone
2. Enabled installing unknown apps
3. Download Firmware Finder from Google Store (the free version)
what next?
1. Run Firmware Finder
2. Go to settings and Enable Installation via system update.
3. Tool will prompt to download Firmware Finder Proxy - do it then install it
4. Go back to the tool and select firmware of your choice - make sure you select FULL (not OTA)
5. Firmware Finder Proxy window will open - do as described - go to Wifi, advanced add manual proxy as local host with 8080 port
6. Go to phone Settings - System update, DO NOT CLICK ON UPDATE, just click on Menu and choose to "Download latest full package" and then click on Update the phone
7. It will attempt to download it but it may fail (as in my case) with message about unstable internet connection - go back to wifi settings and disable proxy, go back to update and resume it - update should start to download then follow as on screen instructions.

hey can you dail *#*#2846579#*#* and see in network information query, vendor info if its hw spcseas
I would recommend you to flash B180 first and only after it the Nougat ROM, just to be on the safer side.
Don't use any other ROM than VIE-L29C636!

VIE-L09C900 manual update

Hi all, how can I manually update my p9 plus VIE-L09C900 without unlocking bootloader?
I read about the *#*#2846578#*#* menu, it will work? Which firmware I have to download?
Thank you
use firmware finder

I tried with firmware finder but i cannot find a firmware for VIE-L09C900
When i search VIE-L09C652 this came up: "C652 (Custom software for demonstration)"
Where did you get this phone?
One thing you can do, is to debrand to for exemple C432
You find guides here on XDA.

Hi m8,
You can't install ANY files from Firmware Finder. That site/app for us, P30/P30 Pro users is just to see when the new firmware for us is released. You can check for HiSuite or eRecovery to see if it's available for your device. If not, you will need to wait for a whille untill your device got whitelisted o Huawei update servers
