I was in the process of fixing another glitch and I wiped cache and delvik cache in TWRP recovery to try and fix it, but now I can't even get my phone to turn on. I can't boot into recovery, power button+vol up button thing won't work either. I made a backup with TWRP on my SD before I did all this but yeah, pretty buggered.
Anyone got any ideas, please?
Try to use Xperia Companion and repair your Z. During my 7.1.1 experiments I must have gone though this many times (at least 5) but always managed to bring it back from the dead.
The repair will wipe the phone but it doesn't touch the SDcard. Having backups via Xperia Companion is always a good start.
Good luck

Yes I fear that is the only solution that has worked...but this brings me to another issue; how can I recover my apps and app data? I made a backup with TWRP but that backup has the Ultra Stamina Mode glitch on it. If I were to completely narrow it down I only want to recover my notes from the Inkpad Notepad app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.workpail.inkpad.notepad.notes&hl=en). I can restore the backup anytime as its on my SD card, how could I grab this app and its data to use after the reset?

My Z is used for experimentation and has no useful information on it. I have never used TWRP to make any backups so I cannot give any further advice, sorry

Hi guys. Yesterday night I was installing a few new apps but the seemed to be stuck installing forever. So I decided to reboot. However, after the reboot, it never goes past the second boot screen.
I know I can just flash to another rom but is there a way to save my data in the instance? I can still get into recovery mode if that helps. Thanks
I've read you can hook up to your pc and mount your sdcard from cwm. Never tried it but if it works you can save your data that way then maybe a master clear/cache or dalvik wipe will help.

You can mount USB in recovery and get all your stuff off of your SD that way. You can also nandroid your current ROM in CWM and re-flash it, then restore from backup. As far as saving texts and all that, Idk if you can, but I'm sure someone else does.
Also, you could try clearing dalvik, cache, and then running the kernel cleaning script. It's gotten me out of a few binds before. It might help you to where you wouldn't have to flash again.
I've had my sgs for almost 1 year , and except for rooting it i didnt rly fiddle with it .
On new years eve night i noticed my phone was closed, and when i tried to open it , it started going in this endless restart loop where it would show me the Galaxy S gt-i9000 start up screen and then restart.I pulled out the battery and the problem got fixed, but now it's happening again and it seems i cant fix it.
I read on the forums that this might indicate an internal sd card failure, and if thats the case is there any way of getting my data back?
Power the phone down then push the on button.
Then hold down the home key, the on key, and the left key in the down position and it will give you a fresh boot and upload the original settings.......
You will lose all your pics and numbers etc so I hope you have it backed up..

that will get you in the download mode...
If you are indeed rooted a last resort can be downloading the 2.3.5 stock rom from Sam mobile.. Put your phone into download mode as that guy said, there are lots of tutorials about this online then use odin to flash. As I say this is a last resort if nothing else works.

Use 3 button combo to recovery (Volume up + Home + Power) and do a factory reset and wipe cache. You will see them from the menu. You will not going to lose your personal data. You will just have to install the apps again.
At first don't make factory reset. Try first to wipe Cache, dalvik Cache and fix permissions (all from the recovery). If it doesn't help try flash new Rom (no wipe) or make factory reset. If this don't help either try flashing a 3 file Rom with pit and repartition.

Doing a factory reset won't wipe your pics and all.. it'll just wipe the 2GB partition that is used for rom and apps.. your pics are stored on the separate 6GB/14GB partition and that is not affected when you do a factory reset.. all your contacts, messages and applications etc will be wiped though..

If you have gone into recovery and cleared cache, dalvik cache and fixed permissions, then the only option available now is to factory reset in recovery. You will NOT lose any pictures or music on your sd card. You will however, lose your installed apps, their data, your phone numbers and messages. Hopefully you have your numbers backed up with google or at least stored on your sim.
If this doesn't work, you will need to flash a new rom with odin. It's a 5 minute job once you've downloaded everything required.

Did as you said and its still not working, because i still have my waranty il take it to the " pros" instead of flasing a new rom.
Only way is to flash a fresh stock rom via Odin since factory reset wouldn't work for you.

First try to turn off the phone, with the phone OFF, press "Vol-" + "Power button" until turn ON.
You should be in Android Recovery Menu, select "wipe data/ factory reset" and press "Power button", next screen go untill the middle and select "yes" and press "Power button". After that just reboot.
If everything went good should be enough, otherwise you need to re-flash.

The OP probably was asking for a way to regain control of his phone without the need to lose any personal data, as the factory reset will surely do. Unfortunately you are right, that is the last step before having to manually re-flash the original firmware and it's the only solution available to him now.
But a bit of advice, in case something similar happens again in the future. Just like with computers it's always advised to take a backup of your important files before tampering/tinkering with the software. And there are many ways right now to do this. We have CWM recovery (thanks to Dexter) which can be used for backup purpose, on the Play Store, there are also apps like Titanium Backup and the new Titanium Media Sync that can accomodate easily and simply all your backup needs. Although the present situation is a bitter pill to shallow, it will come to pass fortunately, so keep in mind the above tips to save yourself from grief and anguish in the future.:fingers-crossed: Best regards

well, im really lucky, yesterday i wanted to use deodex & remove stock apps script, and i made an backup in CWM first, as i havent removed it, and i went to bed, and in bed i started removing some stock apps, if i reflash the phone (hard reset wont work) will the internet storage be removed ? if it doesnt i can just restore the backup right?, then i will backup all the games and other data, and reflash 10G (maybe) or just 10f, as i have deodexed it at backup
If your backup was on the external sdcard, as its always suggested, I dont think it will be deleted, but for the sake of certainty remove the memory card prior to trying anything. If the backup is on the internal sdcard, then it will be deleted (I speak from personal experince since my phone also entered a bootloop and the only solution was to re-flash the official firmware) - quick and painless if you the guide correctly.

If you want to backup a system image, then only CWM can help you. If you want to backup certain files/apps/settings there are a number of ways and programs to help you with that: LG's own backup offering, Titanium Media Sync, App Backup Pro, etc...
Yesterday I was using my phone and it suddenly started rebooting itself. Since my bootloader was locked, my phone was stock rom, no root, no custom recovery and usb debugging off my hopes of doing something through ADB or Fastboot vanished. I think it is fixable but I would like to recover all my data first. I heard that you can try to get your phone into EDL mode in order to recover your data, so I tried to via test point method and my phone is now recognized as Qualcomm 9008. However, afaik this mode wont let me recover any data, and I need to get it to be 9006 instead of 9008. Any help?
Proceed at your risk.
The test point method http://en.miui.com/thread-693884-1-1.html it is using Mi flash tools to flash the ROM so you can opt out for save user data in order to keep internal storage.
in that thread it is mentioned to clean flash but there is one step given to save user data so i don't know what things will be saved and what not. most possibly itll wipe app and its data so messages, call logs, contact will get wiped if there are in internal storage if they haven't backed up to the cloud.
do read carefully and then proceed.

I guess I´ll try that then, I already saw this ''Wipe everything but userdata'' option but was not sure, as it seems a bit strange. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

So I tried this and, after dealing with many versions of Mi Flash (newer ones crashed, older ones had many errors) I was finally able to flash a fastboot rom but unfortunately I'm still stuck in the bootloop. I guess wiping data is an unavoidable fate. Thanks again 4 everything
1.Install twrp.(if you dont have)
2.Turn off phone and click power volup+voldown and when phone turns on release power btn. Recovery will appear wipe data, cache, dalvik, system, vendor then install any rom (i recommend pixelexperience or miui stable). Then wait if there an bootloop i cant help bye.
like the title says I uninstalled the mentioned apps using adb and all of a sudden my camera stopped working so I decided for a simple restart and the device stuck in the loop ever since.
it restarts several times and open realme UI recovery and when I choose language it says " KINDLY REMINDER : system error, after select language, please select Online update(keep data) to recovery system, thanks! " .
So I did what the message said and I connect the wifi but instead of updating it says no updates found.
I also tried to wipe data but I got asked whether to retain contacts/media or format data.
I obviously tried the first one because I need the data but as expected it didn't work.
I am skeptical to clean format because I feel that I can still fix it with retaining the data.
I tried all the key combinations but only the realme UI recovery comes up . Please help me!
thank you
I don't think you'll be able to fix this without a full reflashing of the ROM using SP Tools and a format of the data partition from Recovery. You probably don't have access to full ADB now, if at all, and Fastboot won't help you recover anything. However, you should be able to rescue important files before you do this, as long as you have unlocked your bootloader.
Follow the steps here to install TWRP custom recovery. Once done, you can boot into it from fastboot by running `fastboot reboot recovery`. Once you're in TWRP, you can mount partitions so you can access them over USB from your PC.
Once you've got your important files transferred to your PC, take a full backup to be safe, then flash the stock ROM. This thread can help you do both of those things. Note that flashing the stock ROM using SP Tools will also restore the stock recovery. Once the process is done, boot right into fastboot and use it to reboot back into the stock recovery before letting it actually boot the ROM. Format your data partition (yes the whole thing). Now you can restart, and it should go through first time setup just fine.
I was going to uninstall these apps, but was too lazy. Guess lazyness is not too bad after all.

Unfortunately I had to go for the latter option of complete reset with the loss of data to get my device boot up . It seems the option to recover the device with data seems too complicated and not to mention the fact that this process is not without it's own risks. If you want an easy out from this issue I suggest that you complete format the device and have your important data backed up from now.
And Obviously I had data not backed up which I wanted on my device during this issue but it wasn't too important and I could let go of it cuz rest of my data was backed up.. but being the nerd I am, I tried to recover that data too.. but as I said it wasn't worth the time and risk for me so I chose the latter option.
Hope this helps! Do reply if you need further assistance !

for me the issue was like i just downgraded my device to the a.15 firmware after setting up i uninstalled the bloatware apps and some google apps which were not needed obviously and restarted my device and it got a bootloop, the issue of bootloop wasn't new to me i previoulsy had the same issue when i have downgraded to a.19 firmware. there is a simple fix, if you want to get rid of the bloatware apps now also you can use the disable command like.
(pm uninstall-user --user 0 ----package name---) this will not give any bootloop and can enjoy a part of RAM....
THIS WILL HELP
