Background:
Due to lack of official maintainer for i9300 device for CyanogenMod. I, together with @Moster2 decided that we will work unofficially on i9300 device tree for CM12, to bring Lollipop goodness to our beloved Galaxy S3.
All builds provided in this thread are UNOFFICIAL, which means that:
- There is no official support for i9300
- There are no OTAs available
- There are no automated "nightglies"
At some point, we definitely will try to make proper pull requests, and maybe even support CM12 officially, but at the moment this project is in WIP - Work-In-Progress state, and many things are still broken/unusable. Until we finish, all builds are unofficial, and proper device support is not finished yet.
At the moment, this project is considered: BETA. All core functions should work, ROM shouldn't have any critical issues, but it's still not ready to mark as stable. However, it should work properly as daily driver.
Please refrain from talking about other kernels than stock. We can't track every kernel and it's problems, hence, you're using other kernels at your own risk. Please don't report bugs while you're using custom kernels.
Main developers:

- Moster2

Manifest / Sources
Build instructions:
Follow CM build instructions for i9300. When doing repo init, don't forget to declare CM-12.0 (-b cm-12.0) instead of CM-11.0.
Before "breakfast i9300", you must include our manifest and resync the sources:
Code:
croot
cd .repo
mkdir -p local_manifests
cd local_manifests
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ArchiDroid/manifest/cm-12.0/roomservice.xml
croot
repo sync
Notice: Our manifest already includes proprietary_vendor_samsung, so don't execute ./extract-files.sh. Just repo sync.
Then follow "breakfast i9300" and the rest of the commands in original instructions, while keeping in mind above notice.

For those who are dying to try this out, just install my kernel after this cm-12 installation.
Already so much better than my build lol
I guess @JustArchi and @Moster2 is not done with the kernel-side..

CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
STATUS: DEV STOPPED, check cm-12.1 thread
This is a preview build, do not install it if you want a stable ROM.
This is a preview of what is going down on CM12.0
Rom is in beta state so many bugs are to be expected!
All the source code is available on my Github.
I do this on my free time and unfortunately I don't have much.
Any help is a appreciated!
I don't own N8000 device, so all RIL is untested, some may find it works, other may find it does not.

Since this is a preview build, I suggest you steer clear of it unless you already know what you are doing. I know it's tempting to be the first on your block with Lollipop, but you can seriously damage your device if you don't already know what you're doing.
Its not my first rodeo. I returned the tablet to stock from cm11. I had a note 3 that got me familiar with Odin. Odin is my b*tch lol
Some additions
Here are some things that will help you all get started on this.
1) Make sure you have a relevant gapps package, like this one here: Gapps for CM12
2) If you want root, you're best bet is to use this SuperSU beta here: SuperSU for Lollipop BETA
Also, I have found that using Google Keyboard works better than the default AOSP keyboard, especially when it comes to emoji.
Hope this helps out a little
Thanks. What about the recovery? It took me a good month trying to figure out I needed a kk recovery for cm11 when I first started learning about android and flashing Roms. I was dumb and not reading between the lines lol
I used this recovery: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-gt-n8013.img
not sure what's the big difference between this and n8010 or n8000
So I gave this rom a go and it seems to work fine for the most part (other than the bugs mention in the OP). I hope that this rom will get ironed out soon!
fastest cm ever, great work.
i'll be reporting and trying to look for bugs
@lirokoa i noticed there was some strange files coming, the data stuff,
i need to setup my build env properly
i haven't build since jellybean release
and the performance is highly increased
about graphical glitches i'm sure only we have it
S-pen support seems off. It detects it, but does not pass the right values for pen tip and buttons. Almost like it is using the mouse functions instead.
Now this is awesome can't wait to see the process on this beast thanks again dev good luck!

Gapps link don't work, i will try this ROM with normal CM12 gapps and give you feedback when i have time.. It would be great if you give us what work or don't work in ROM..
Yes, for now i recommend gapps from candy5 thread (did i give a link there?)...
You will have to tell me what's not working aswell...
Problem
I run into a problem, when i tried to flash the .zip file you provide in this post my phone just restarted into recovery without any message and nothing happend. Maybe is something wrong with file, please check it and i will try to download it again, maybe it wous broken download and try it again..
the same is happend when i try to flash gapps from Candy5 ROM...
---------- Post added 6th February 2015 at 12:25 AM ---------- Previous post was 5th February 2015 at 11:59 PM ----------
It appears that my downloaded link is broken, when i downloaded ROM and Candy5 gapps it seams that everything is going well for now, my phone boot up again.
I will get more info about this ROM when i test it.. will be back with feedback soon!!
I dirty flashed this over Candy 5 and the only issue I see so far is ambient display not working. And also thank you for putting CM file manager in the rom
Hello
Can you make rom for d410 too?
Sent from my LG-D410 using XDA Free mobile app
Quick feedback
For few hours that i use this ROM i have noticed that ROM is great, fluid and smooth with great improovments over naked CM 12 but with some minor issues. Lift to wake not work as in CM 12 and sometimes the phone can't see SIM card as in CM12 and it is needed to reboot for the phone to be operatible again, and there is more random reboots, so far 5 reboots. Also only two cores are in function and for other two it have to be forced by third party app as in CM12. Great is that theme chooser is implemented. There is a lot of new things added and it need to be played a little more but this for the past few hours that i noticed.
More feedback is coming..

You have to download app named Kernel Tuner 2014 fron the Play Store and there you will see option to wake up other two cores. The main problem in this ROM for me is Random Reboots, so far i had 13 of them and i use this ROM only 12 hours. If this reboots continue i will have to go back to naked CM12 because i use this phone for my work and i can't do this if phone is constantly rebooting.. Maybe someone have some Fix for reboots????
Random reboots are strange thing.... It's really... Random. I have some unreleased test builds and sometimes there is 80 hours without single reboot and sometimes couple of it appears per day... I'm working on some things now. Maybe it make stability better, maybe not
And i have about 4-5 reboots per day at max

Yes, i know that random reboots are strance thing and i'm sorry that my knowledge in Java is so pior, i wish if i could kbow more so i can help you with some things but i'm only in the begining with Java..maybe in future.. Most of the time i had rebiits on Navigator, Facebook and after i install some apps. And one thing also, in CM File Browser when i give full Root privileges to APS and ADB phone freeze and after a few Minutes reboots..
Maybe this will help..
Kind of offtop, but is there possibility to revert to dalvik instead of art in lollipop roms? What if this is the cause of random reboots? What if art on 5.0 can't really play duet with L90? (Yeah, I know, questions as deep as 'who are we?', 'where do we come from?', 'what is our purpose of existance?' - but hey, don't judge )
I don't think it would be possible, but i know nothing on that matter... And I'm not judging you
Where can I activate "Dark Material"?
For me it's just the light theme.

Ok, Thanks I manage to fix the cores problem with no-frills CPU Control. The thing that I do wrong is that I check in CPU-Z if all 4 cores working, but they won't work if the cpu load is low. (Check on my sister L65, 1 core working and after some CPU load the 2nd activate) as this comes to my CM12 Rom this doesn't happend (BUG/Issue) but if I override it with no-frills cpu control it works awsome as it all cores activates when the load% goes up + I do some benchmarks at only 2 cores the score in Antutu was the 16422 and after activating 4 cores score jump to 19555. As I see android for power efficiency turn off the cores automaticly, if they're not needed.
So There is one problem solved, although using third-party software but, someone will fix this and release rom update sooner or later.
The 2nd one is H/W Acceleration in Movies. I use MX-Player and when it comes to HD 720p/1080p .mkv video isn't smooth on Software decoder, and HW decoding will make playback smooth but it isn't working. The question is there any app, tweak or any other way to make it working?

I copypasted feature list from other thread AND didn't correct all that lies apparently i think there is no dark material for now...

Build instructions:
Follow CM build instructions for i9300. When doing repo init, don't forget to declare CM-12.1 branch (-b cm-12.1) instead of the default one.
Before "breakfast i9300", you must include our manifest and resync the sources:
Code:
croot
cd .repo
mkdir -p local_manifests
cd local_manifests
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ArchiDroid/manifest/cm-12.1/roomservice.xml
croot
repo sync
Notice: Our manifest already includes proprietary_vendor_samsung, so don't execute ./extract-files.sh. Just repo sync.
Then follow "breakfast i9300" and the rest of the commands in original instructions, while keeping in mind above notice.

If you want to thank me, Moster2, arter, Dhiru, or anybody else for what you received, consider donating, even small amount such as 1$ shows that you appreciate our time and knowledge put into those things. You're using devices worth 500x more than that, giving that money to companies like Samsung who don't care about you and your S3 anymore, consider supporting things you use and like.
That's it folks, hope you enjoyed our CM. As there is nobody from "my" team working on i9300 anymore, eventual hope for M for i9300 should go directly to Dhiru, perhaps also Haxynox guys, if they know what they're doing. I'll probably use my i9300 for a while longer, then finally change it to something else in future. You can still follow me on twitter for updates.
Good luck in this new project
I will, indeed
Here we go again, back to my favorite alpha stage, brings many good memory hh
Btw using arter97 builds for few hours and no problem, as been said last few days smoothness of the 5.1 can clearly be seen between 5.0.2 vs 5.1 lags is pretty much gone and ram management is way better on 5.1
sent from my 5.1
Great news!

For me yes, listen music starts OK, than audio comes and goes until crash and reboot
After using for a few days this is my simplified report.
1. package installer FCs when installing or updating from third party (app gets installed)
2. Music volume very low and music app gets killed a few minutes after screen off
3. Settings FCs when changing status bar toggles
4. Very smooth. Alot better than 5.0 (Memory leaks fixes by Google kicks in?)
5. App info graphical error (Package name overlaps with version)
Devs @JustArchi @Moster2 @arter97 @dhiru1602 all of you are unstoppable.
Salute go on?

Yup it is working....
Only problem is when I seek the video to any other position then it already is in, the video gets stuck......(only happens when streaming online though)....
---------- Post added at 12:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
Camera stops working frequently due to 'can't to connect to camera' error.....A reboot fixes it though...
And the phone overheats frequently....
Waiting for the next build
Edit:- MTP and mobile hotspot are not working.......
How to install (How it works for me):
- starting with 12.0 weekly 7
- Recovery
- wipe everything (Data/dalvik/chache/system)
- install 12.1
- wipe dalvik
- reboot
- skip all settings then reboot into recovery
- flash 5.1 minimal gapp and reboot
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...ition-t2943330) link does not work...search for minimal gapps 5.1
(my Version was : gapps-5.1.x-20150324-minimal-edition-signed.zip)
-installed the bloatware removal script
(https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934545546)

Troubleshooting
- Some apps are crashing for a reason what's wrong?
- if you use Magisk root some apps are crashing for a reason, to solve this change Mount NameSpace Mode to Global and disable Magisk Hide and reboot (you cn re-enable it later if you want/need it),
I discovered this solution when I used older RR N 5.8.2 and the apps will not crash anymore, another way is to set ro.debuggable to 1 using MagiskHide Props Config module and reboot. But now the custom kernel is not causing this bug anymore, but in case you will meed it.
- SafetyNet fails what to do?
- If you fail Only CTSProfile, you can use this module
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228
This will help you to Pass CTSProfile using custom build fingerprint from other certified devices.
If you use xposed and want to pass CTSProfile, you can use an xposed module called "No Device Check", but as far I know its impossible to pass BasicIntegrity with xposed installed, but using this module is pretty enough to log in via snapchat and using some apps but not for Pokemon GO
Edit: SafetyNet was failing due of kernel, the kernel source from Micode (or from mine upstreamed) passes it.
-what's MicroG?
- MicroG is an lightweight and opensource re-implementation of Gapps
- how do I install it?
- same as Gapps + you will need to wipe cache/dalvik and grant for signature spoofing
- In self check I see that Phonesky/Play Store has not correct signature, why does it happen?
- you need to grant for signature spoofing manually you can do it by going to Settings->Apps->Gear(in top right corner)->App Permissions-> Spoof package signature/(or signature spoofing, depends on the rom) and giving permissions to spoof signature, you can do the same to GMSCore too in case you did still haven't granted for it before
- I have problems with sign in with my account, what to do?
- this happens mostly when you are Replacing Gapps with MicroG or reinstalling MicroG without sign out, if this happened just go and delete using root explorer this files:
/data/system_ce/0/accounts_ce.db
/data/system_de/0/accounts_de.db
/data/system/sync/accounts.xml and reboot, and now you should have sign in to your account successfully

Hi @Azizb750
First I read your post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77463249&postcount=1312
Coming from current RR Nougat ROM for hermes by Dinolek year ago, then I downloaded and clean installed RR-20180829 build and ended with bootloop
After you updated OP, I installed RR-20180828 build > opengapps (armv7, 7.1, pico) > reboot and system booted as it should be! :good:
So far so good, better than older ROM and it satisfied my requirement for daily driver.
Many thanks bro for keeping old Redmi Note 2 alive, even with Nougat. You;re the man. It will be perfect if Security Patch upgraded at least August 5, 2018.
Current security patch December 5, 2017 is too old!
Again, many thanks Azizb750.
Have a great day!
God bless you!
/***********
Now, current ROM is RR-5.8.5 20180828 build.
Launcher: Microsoft, Poco
Google Assistant, Google Photos, works just fine!
Rooted by Magisk 16.7 (1671). SafetyNet: invalid response.
Theme: Substratum, DNA Dark Project.

+1
Security patch level February 5, 2018! Newer than RR! :good:
However, I preferred RR 5.8.5 good: D
Thanks Azizb750! Thanks devs!
Have a great day!
Just tried crDroid 20180825 build. I like it so much as it's highly customizable as RR. Apart from that, it applied Security patch level July 5, 2018. :good:
It's most likely I prefer to use it as my daily driver.
However, wait until I give a try the other two hermes ROMs, LineageOS and Viper.
Again, thanks a lot Azizb750 for providing N ROMs for our obsolete device!
Have a great day!
Gave a try LineageOS 14.1 for hermes 20180828 build. Everything works just fine, according to my requirements. Sure, you may vary.
Feeling secured as Security patch from August 5, 2018! :good:
Many thanks to @Azizb750 and other devs! ?
Hope, you keep the security patch updated!
Have a great day!
I did try to install ViperOS 20180825, everything works just fine as described on OP.
Security patch of July 5, 2018.
After tried all available N ROMs as provided by OP, I decided to choose crDroid as my daily driver, based on:
1.Highly and easily customizable
2. Not so old security patch (July 5, 2018). Hopefully, Azizb750 will keep updated!
Have a great day!

Tried latest updated LineageOS 14.1 20180901 and RR 5.8.5 20180901 build.
Security patch August 5, 2018 and December 5, 2017, respectively.
Workings and bugs as described on OP. However, Contacts can't sync, using both methods.
Reverted to crDroid
Anyway, thanks Azizb750 for keeping ROMs for hermes updated!
