Mi 5 Wifi Problem - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, anyone know how to fix the issue whenever i tried to connect into my wifi, my wifi router would die and restarted. this issue started when i flashed rr 5.8.1 rom, and then every rom i tried had same issue. my Mi4c connected to my wifi just fine.
I find the workaround which is to open the file located at root/etc/firmware/ wlan/qca_cld/ and inside there is file called wlan_mac.bin and i had to go to airplane mode, and then open that file, edit the last digit of my current mac into anything, save (but filemanager said failed), and then turn off airplane and turn on wifi, then the wifi started to connect. it's really annoying, and i tried tether wifi, and also have same issue. anyone can help me? thanks in advance

[HELP] Issue with wifi!!!

[Q] Fixing Wi-fi without reformatting?

Hey, in the last few weeks I've run into a very annoying bug on my phone. Wi-fi turns itself off after about 2 minutes. It doesn't actually "turn itself off" in the phone - and by that I mean that the wifi icon is still there, and I can see the signal strength, but the internet won't work.
In order to fix it, I have to turn the wifi off and then on again.
I've tried using the Wifi Fixer application, but it doesn't help. It can't seem to detect when I lose my internet connection.
I've also troubleshooted it, checking that it occurs on different routers/types of networks.
I'm sure it's a problem with my phone, but I dont really want to reformat my phone until Froyo comes (since I don't want to have to install all my apps twice).
Is there any solution to this? ;z
I'm on stock rom, JF3, with OCLF.
I have the same problem with my phone. My Wi-Fi at home works just fine, but when I go to my brother's house, I seem to occasionally lose internet connection even though it shows that it's still connected to the Wi-Fi. I have stock Bell ROM with OCLF by RyanZA. Oh, and to fix it I simply turn Wi-Fi off, and then on, and it starts working again.
Bump :x
Anyone have a solution?

[Q] Router reboots when Captivate reboots?

When I reboot my Captivate, my Rosewill RNX-EasyN4 router reboots also. When the Captivate tries to connect to Wifi that is when the router reboots. This only happens after I reboot the phone. When I just turn off Wifi and then turn it back on, the router is fine. Even if I turn off the Wifi for a while and turn it back later, the router has no problems. Has anyone experienced this problem before? I am running Serendipity 6.3. I think it was happening when I was running stock also, but I am not 100% sure.
Sounds like your router is flakey. Rebooting the Captivate should not cause a reboot of your router. Check the Rosewill website and see if they have updated firmware for your router. That may solve the problem.
I have the latest firmware on the router dated 2010.07.15. I do not think it is a problem with the router because I have multiple notebooks, a PS3, and a wireless printer connected to it. Only the Captivate causes it to reboot.
Turn off wifi before you reboot.

Tried that already. Once I turn Wi-Fi back on, the router reboots.
Ok, try power cycling the router. 2) try the fxr wifi fix from the market.

Tried power cycling already. Installed and ran the FXR Wifi Fix, but that did not help. I went back to try your original suggestion, turn Wi-fi before reboot. Normally I have Flight mode turned on and Wi-fi enabled. When I reboot Wi-fi is disabled. So I assumed that rebooting with Flight mode on was the same as turning Wi-fi off. But I just tried it and they are not the same. When I manually turn off Wi-fi and reboot, it does not cause the router to reboot. The problem seems to be that when I reboot with Wi-fi on the phone is still in the router's WLAN Client Table. And when the phone tries to reconnect while the router thinks the phone is still connected, it causes it to reboot. At least now I can work around it. Thanks for your help.

Are you by any chance using a wireless N router? I've found that my Bionic will reboot my router every time I try to connect, not just on reboots. But if I turn off the wireless N and just use B+G on my router the phone works fine.

[Q] Help on my wifi

I have flashed my X8 with 2.2.1 ROM for X8 | Based on miniCM |
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036335
And I have encountered problem as follow...
Sometimes my X8 are hardly connected to an open network. It just keep connecting and disconnecting when acquiring ip address from the router. And when I turn off the wifi on my phone when it have such problem, the next time I turn the wifi on, it will be connecting to an unknown network without scanning, and without any available network on the list.
It just keep connecting and disconnected a while later, and just stuck on “disconnected” without any further action, even I force it to scan for an available network. The only thing I can do is just turn the wifi off and on to make it move again, but the same problem persist.
I have tried to reboot, but the problem remains.
The only solution for me is to recover the ROM by using xRecovery, but I have done it once, and the problem arise again…
HELP ME PLS!!!

Maybe you have to try disabling the "N" standard in tiwlan.ini file. After this delete all connections in Wi-Fi list, thed disable and enable Wi-Fi. It solved the problem for me.
Thanks for the comment and i really appreciate that...
BUT, how do I turn off the "N" settings?
With root explorer, edit tiwlan.ini (located in /system/etc)
There is a line "ht_enable=1" at abut the middle of the file. Change the 1 to 0. Save&exit, there you go.
