Advice to change original rom

Hi,
I recently bought an Redmi 2 4G model 2014817 in HK for a friend.
I would like to put the phone in french using an update of MIUI or a new ROM (stable). Currently only chinese and english are available.
I've read a lot of messages and it seems a bit complex.
What is your advice?

Thanks I saw I've seen that except it's almost impossible to register.
In case I don't succeed to install multilingual pack, could I install another rom like cyanogen or a "clean" android (like on nexus) ?
Maybe I should wait a bit as the phone is quite new.

If you want to have MIUI with french, you have to use this ROM (specific for your device). It's the MIUI 6 Kit Kat Multilanguage.
If you want other ROMs, there's something Unofficial for now, the device is new. There's an Unofficial CyanogenMod 11.

On this link it's for MIUI V5, but for MIUI 6 is almost the same.

It has worked! in something like 5 minutes, very easy.
Just you need to install the driver before (on Win 8.1) to have better access to the internal memory.

Simple questions on Chinese Rom K20 PRO

Hi guys,
im thinking to buy the phone and as i use my phone in english my questions are:
1) once i load the google apps on the redmi k20 pro there are problems with notifications in chinese rom or others issues that are not there with global version?
2) can i uninstall ALL chinese based application without root etc?
3) Overall you consider it usable globally the Chinese rom if english is the user main language ? (i know about missing b20 i don't care)

1. I have no issues with notifications. The problem with miui is that you have to spend time customizing the notifications as some don't even show up on the lockscreen for example by default. Once you customized it to your liking it's pretty alright.
2. I've removed almost all the bloat I can just by uninstalling them. The only ones leftover are the Chinese MI apps like wallet, ai, appstore. Everything seems to be fully in English for me.
3. Yes it's considered a usable ROM to use in English. I would say the appstore is a little annoying because any links to apps won't open in play store but will open in the appstore by default.
There's also a custom version of Miui provided on xiaomi.eu that has everything in English and is pretty good as it removes even system apps that aren't needed. You'll need an unlocked bootloader for that though

When you use the Chinese Rom will you receive all official updates from Redmi via OTA no matter where you are located in the world ?

Yes, i live in indonesia. And ive received 2 ota updates so far

Before buy red magic 3! Gapps? Chinese rom? Tpwr?

hi i'm going to buy a 8/128 red magic 3 from official website. im from italy and most probably it will ship with global rom
i really like the chinese rom especcially theme engine and gestures.
if i buy a global rm3 i want to have chinese rom with working tpwr root and pico gapps ( i read there are some problems with gmail and screen freezes)
any tutorial without brick the devices
what must i do?
i dont want to waste money

Hi,
It is really easy to from the Global ROM to the Chinese ROM or to go from Chinese ROM to Global ROM.
You should pay attention to some things :
- the Chinese ROM offers several languages (probably italian) but only a rare and few items are translated ; you mostly will have english settings and apps ;
- the Chinese ROM comes with a lot of useless crappy apps taht you can uninstall easily for most of them ;
- the themes aren't that great in the Theme Store... and the best ones are paid ones ;
- it is difficult to change the default launcher in the Chinses ROM...
It is really a pain to decide which ROM to use.
My advice is pretty simple : wait a bit and get yourself a OnePlus 7 or a OnePlus 7 Pro when it's price will have lowered a little...
This device is brilliant from the HW point of view.
But the software is so crippled you will only get mad at it...
I use it now only as a dedicated GPS. All other stuff : I do it on a device that has real software support (Rooted Mate 20x with Resurrection Remix installed).

I saved this phone and forgot for 3 years in the wardrobe, today I call and find version 4.4.4 in it, finally I will use it because I have no cell phone and want to make it as current as possible, I like 4.4.4 but several apps on playstore doesn't work, like banking apps. Can you help me what I need to leave him in nougat?

the latest official android version for our device is android 6.0.1 which is recent enough to support 99% of apps and i recommend you to go for it but there is a note fe port by anar to android 7.0 which has a few bugs but stable enough and android 9.0 versions which are not samsung ports but they are very close to real android versions like on google pixel

you failed to mention what model you have
and there are 2 huge forums to explore and learn about your Snapdragon and/or Exynos models
for either of them the note 4 has android variants up to pie (9)
if you are in unofficial, custom roms

Thank you so much guys. I found a port version of note 7 and it's perfect. Obviously without finger unlocking but everything is ok with the apps I need to use. I searched the forum for the Windows application "samfir" I put my model n910c and installed the current firmware 6.01 ZTO and then looked for the TWRP and so the update was actually completed. Call recording in Xiaomi redmi 9 EEA

Hi! I have a xiaomi redmi 9 bought from Romania, with eea version miui 11.0.4.0. It seems I cannot record calls because this system app doesn't exist here. I tried with another Google play apps, but it cannot record calls but a hiss, the ambiental sounds or a silent audio. Do you think there is any chance to make possible on this phone to have a working call recording app? I read some forums saying that the China or India roms should have this built-in app.
So... Can you help me, please?

ALso when i install miui dialer, it crashes. There is any way to install original miui dialer, and making it work?

1st Of All You Have To Unlock The Bootloader (Official Bootloader Unlocking Timing From Xiaomi Is 07 Days). After That You Can Flash Redmi 9 Prime ROM & China ROM. These ROMs Have Builtin Call Recording Feature And Its Very Good.

Redmi 9 Is Released In India With The Name Of Redmi 9 Prime. So You Can Flash Indian ROM To Your Mobile.

There Is One Thing Which I Want To Bring It To Your Knowledge. China ROM Is Available In MIUI 12 With No Google Apps (But You Can Install GAPPS) While Indian ROM Has MIUI 11 With Google Apps, So Decision Is Yours.
In Addition To That, Never Lock The Bootloader Till You Have A Serious Problem

Thanks for saying! Now, i am using an old xiaomi redmi note 3, very good phone, and I don t need google play, i use my phone detached from google services, and i am so happy about that. I also use adaway and root, then debloater, so I use my phones very customized. Thank you all, guys!
