I have no idea what is happening so I hope someone here can help me.
I came home today and realized that my phone didn't automatically connect to the wifi, and it forgot the password. This seemed a little suspicious because I rooted my Note 5 and installed Xposed the night before but didn't do anything major that could affect the phone in such a drastic way. This kept happening so I thought I'd do a factory reset. When that was done and my phone booted, it started lagging and I'm having frequent lag spikes now. I started re-downloading my apps but every time I retried they stopped at 100%. There was also a permanent notification saying that "unauthorized actions have been detected". I tried to flash the stock firmware with odin but odin doesn't recognize my phone and I don't know what to do now.
Thank you in advance.
Try different usb ports and restart pc, try change cable eventually - somehow your device must get recognized by pc

I already tried that, although now I can install applications but the lag spikes still remain and that annoying notification keeps popping up.

Not really. I still get random lag spikes (frequently) and I've been trying to root it for the past 2 hours but for some reason my device is still not rooted. I tried flashing CF Auto Root with TWRP but it comes up with an error message: could not find meta inf/com/google/android/update-binary

Get SAMFIRM for your download and flash firmware - afterwards factory reset in stock recovery then setup your device :fingers-crossed:

Yes after successfully flashing stock firmware using odin your problems will be solved as stock firmware will be installed on your phone without any root access...Though you can root your phone again but no surety that problems your facing now will come again or not after rooting again( Depends upon how successfully you root your device and which type of apps your running on your device) Caution:-flash firmware for your specific phone model with proper country csc, otherwise you will mess up with efs folder and your device...So before flashing search on forum how to flash stock firmware using odin and follow step by step process..*DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK* Just search for process of flashing stock firmware using odin..You need-pc,device,usb cable, odin,Samsung drivers installed on your pc,latest official firmware for your device and country..(http://www.galaxynote5update.com/galaxy-note5-stock-firmware/) Refer this link.If this link shows doesn't support your country, then just go to note 5 stock firmware update section through tab..

Hello xda developers
I am wondering if someone can answer a few questions i have about rooting my samsung note?
I'm in Australia and just got my note with vodafone on Saturday. I have been doing some searching in the dev section and I haven't found my kernel version (2.6.35.7-N7000BDULB3-CL977082) to download from dr.ketan I have also searched for it on sammobile.com with no luck also.
So from the above statement does anyone know where i can get a copy of it from or know how i can backup mine from my phone atm?
I have found a root solution however It is for the GT-N7000 model which is at rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall
If I followed this above method would I end up bricking the phone as the phone version are different? I found nothing on a search when comparing the two
Sorry for an the essay of a post too.
Looks like you're the only guy in the whole wide world with the exotic N7000BDULB3 GB, mate.
https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=N7000BDULB3&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Anyway, you can always flash and root and older Rom, then upgrade to whatever you want whilst keeping your root. Here's a little guide to downgrading and rooting I wrote some time ago, hope it helps.
You'll have a rooted KK9 rom after you're done. Then you can download any new GB version (LC1 is the latest) from here and flash it with Mobile Odin, with Everroot and Inject Superuser options ticked. That will keep your root.
Good luck.

Thanks so much, and your posts are one of the easiest to follow and gives a great head start for noobs! Great Job really!
I used this method and now I see a yellow triangle.
1. Will this yellow triangle during boot up, disappear if I follow your unroot method?
2. Will my phone can be updated to ICS once Samsung officially provides upgrade to ICS for Galaxy Note?
3. I tried SetCPU, the phone became very hot, when I over clocked and it just hang. I brought it back to normal.
4. What are all the other useful, important things we can do after root, other than installing Titanium Backup etc.

With the KKA firmware when extracted I get the 2 files like you said the .tar.md5 and the dll file.
In odin do i just select the .tar.md5 file under the pda option? or do i have to put the dll file in an option as well.

Mum, help us, we're stuck here!
Hey guys,
I have a Samsung SIII 4G LTE that I bought in Dec which was a stock Orange UK phone.
It has come with stock Android 4.1.1 Jellybean to which I haven't been able to update since!
I've tried various drivers, uninstalling, re-installing and all variations of plugging the phone in; Kies (have tried various versions of this too, current latest installed) will notify that it needs to be updated, downloads the update and then it just hangs.
I've also tried all variations of MTP, PTP and USB Debugging.
Argh!!! I'm at my wits end and all I want to do is update it; is there a manual way for me to do so and how do I make sure I have the correct firmware to update to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have tried literally everything and no luck whatsoever.
Thanks,
Beans.
Orange updates not Samsung .
Ask Orange if they have updated the firmware .
OTA or via Kies .
Manual update yes but you need to read and understand the basics first .

Thanks JJEgan,
I've contacted Orange and all they say is "Use Samsung Kies to update".
Also, Orange is now EE so is there an EE firmware I should be updating to? Or do I stick to the stock Orange firmware?

Am I correct in thinking I need the 4.1.2 Stock Odin Package from this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942150
Does it come with Odin, or do I need to install this separately? Where can I find it? Do I need any special drivers? Does it do a clean install or do I need to backup everything and restore it post flash with firmware?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm pretty new to all this.

Flashing ROMs thought Odin is inconvenient, I'd prefer to just root the phone for ease of use.
I think I found the source of the problem:
When I was using vRoot, it said that I didn't have 'root permission' and gave me a how-to in order to solve that problem. However it was in Chinese so I couldn't figure it out. Is it possible that I just need to find a way to get root permission for my phone? How do I get permission?

The English version is a little broken, not all of it is in English. I'm talking about the app they have for the phone. I downloaded it and it said it couldn't root my phone (at least that's what I think it said it was all Chinese) and it gave me a list of instructions I couldn't understand. I already tried the English vRoot and it didn't work.
IMHO best way how to root your phone is by flashing custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) via Odin and then by flashing root binaries from recovery.

I've updated my previous post. Download some custom recovery and flash it as pda, then reboot into it by pressing vol. up + home + power and finally flash zip with root from recovery.
and after you have custom recovery it's also super easy to flash .zip files with recovery only (not odin) so then you can flash custom roms .zip's

Try using Unified Android Toolkit and simply following the on screen instructions.
I am having the same issue with my wife's phone. Rooted once with Kingo but she accidentally accepted an OTA update and we lost root. Now Kingo just says "Root failed."
Verizon has locked the bootloader on these phones so that it is, AFAIK, not possible at all to flash a custom recovery. I have plenty of experience with CWM and TWRP from my own two previous sammys (Epic 4G and Galaxy S4, both on Sprint). If someone here (with a VZW model) has experience otherwise, I'd love to hear about it and how you got around the lock.
Downloading Unified Android Toolkit now and we'll see how it goes, but it is not looking good.

Well, that lead me nowhere. It comes up with a list of S3 Mini model numbers that does not include Verizon's. On top of that, AVG said one of the executables was infected with a virus (a warning which I bypassed in order to test).
Any other suggestions?

Trying now, but it doesn't look good. It's been stuck on "Testing adb usability" for ten minutes or so.
So I am now noticing that any time I plug this phone in, during the "Found new hardware" for the ADB interface it is telling me that my new hardware "might not work." This does not happen when I plug in my S4. I'm wondering if VZW has done something to block ADB access...
I've backed the phone up with Kies and now I am thinking about a factory reset before trying again. I just don't want to make things any worse, knowing I can't simply Odin the stock image on this phone.
Any other recommendations?

Update: on retry, I got past this spot, but ultimately the root failed and it told me the model was not supported.
Kingo gets further than anything else I've tried, but eventually fails with the error "NeedRoot." Ironically.
I'm going to try a factory reset. I am wondering if the fact that SuperSu is still in ROM is what's tripping Kingo up. I can force stop it and "turn it off" but, of course, without root I can't actually remove it from the ROM.

That sounds plausible, factory reset might help avoid the issue, but if SuperSu is installed as system app (normally the case), it might in some cases still be there after a factory reset.
I'm having the same issues. I have tried with three different cables, using three different programs. Do you think it's because I don't have three original cable I only have moto ones? I can reset using kries so it's not like the computer doesn't see it

In attempt to flash a custom recovery to my AT&T Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A), odin failed to flash it. After a while, I tried to root my phone after other forums/threads said I needed to. I tried towelroot, didn't work for $#!t. And the point of no return came when another forum said to flash a custom firmware to help TR, so I did. It failed. Then I decided to give up, but it got stuck in a bootloop, well, if you consider attempting to boot, giving up, and rebooting itself into bootloader a bootloop. And that was followed by attempting to flash stock firmware, which odin couldn't do anything. So, I've tried everything:
Kies won't detect my phone, or it will say it's unsupported
Odin must be broken or my phone is f***ed, because almost immediately, odin will say FAIL
Anti-Virus has been disabled this whole time
So if anyone reading this knows what they're doing, please help me out with this.

First off you need to give more info about your phone. What build are you on 5.0, 4.4.4 etc. How did you get on that build. Ota update or custom update. We can't really help you unless we know what your running.

if you can go into download mode then don't worry you can download another official firmware & flash it.
The firmware you tried & failed may be corrupt file so download new one & try.
Make sure your battery is more than 50%.if not know the battery level do not flash go to repair centre.

You can try this. Make sure you are using Odin 3.09. You will need the OC4 stock partitions located at the bottom of the first post. That might work.
I just thought of this, does it matter what cable I use?
(Galaxy S5 USB 3.0 cable or standard micro USB)
Because I just used a regular cable and it worked!

Because your running 5.0 ota. You can't root that version yet plus they only custom recovery that we have on the AT&T S5 is either safestrap or Flashfire which is still in testing faze. You'll need to wait til you can root the ota 5.0 since it has different bootloader.
Ok, thanks, so I can stop messing up my phone.

What firmware were you on originally? Sounds like you we're on 5.0 or above . If so you will have to flash a pure stock rom of the same back to it . And no rooting for any thing above 4.4.4

So i purchased a Note 4 SM-N910T about a year ago. It worked fine but last month shortly after the 5.1.1 update I did it started randomly restarting for no reason. First i taught it was Snapchat because I red somewhere that there are camera problems, so I stopped using it. But it kept restarting even after that. From then I have made a factory and a master reset, rooted the phone and even installed CM 12. No mater what i do it keeps on restarting. The only way to get it out of the boot loop is to connect it to a charger that is not a fast charger. Then it starts charging and works normally and you can do everything normally. After you remove it from the charger it works as long as you do not use it. When you start using it and want to do something with it it starts restarting again. I hope somebody can help me fix this issue. I have noticed that connecting it to WIFI makes it 100% sure that it will restart any moment. If you leave it without WIFI as long as you do not do anything big it will not restart. For example I watched series on my phone I downloaded beforehand. I was able to go to the CM 12 file manager and change series for the duration of my bus drive and it has not reset yet and it has not been connected to a charger for around 12 hours already.
My last resort is to wait 3 hours for the stupid free 5.0.1 official firmware and flash it using the TWRP Recovery or Odin. If that does not work I would have t give it to a service. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Also a link to where I can download the 5.0.1 official firmware for free in normal speed will be of greatly appreciated as well!
Merry Christmas!
That's odd, I recommend odin flashing the stock ROM and everything. (Modem + bootloader) the latest one is DOK2 for T-Mobile

To revive the thread I tried flashing the N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_N910TUVU2DOK2_HOME.tar via Odin. It all went fine and after starting the phone it went on to the step where its optimizing apps. It got stuck there and it went back to the boot loop. I had reflash the CM 12 and TWRP Recovery and now I am back at 0. So my question is how should I flash the stock rom. Go to TWRP do a factory reset than turn the phone off and flash the stock rom via Odin? Should I also flash TWRP ans SuperSu after flashing the stock rom?
Thank you for your help!
I've been having the same problem for about a week and a half; it's super annoying. I was running Dynamic Pop on COG2 then yesterday I updated to DOK2 and flashed Maximum Overdrive... no improvement. It rarely even fully boots before freezing or rebooting.
My best guess as to what the problem is that it may be overheating because it tends to actually boot if I put it in the freezer while booting, but then it freezes soon after taking it out. I suppose it could also be internal memory corruption.
Either way, I'm getting ready to do a warranty exchange.

First focus on getting a clean stock firmware booted. Do what you mentioned above but don't flash TWRP or superSu until the stock ROM is stable. We need to narrow down the issues so do as few modifications as possible.

I actually downloaded 2 stock roms for my Note 4. One was the COG2 and the other one was the completely stock firmware. I tried flashing them but Odin failed (Auth) whatever that means. The only stock rom I was able to flash was 5.1.1 but it wouldn't boot up so I had to install CM 12 again! I have no idea how to fix the phone. All I want is to return to 5.0.1 and delete any changes. The phone has no apps on it so i have nothing to loose but I do not know how to do it..

You cannot use 5.0.1 ROMs on DOK2 they will never boot and no down grading. You have to use 5.1.1 ROMs for now on.

This is exactly what is happening to my T-Mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T) and the thing that you did to your Canadian Note 4 is exactly what I want to do. But can I use the firmware you provided at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/ref-stock-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2920452
or must I use the T-Mobile ones and if I have to use the N910T firmware where can I get it so I can do what you did? A link or a thread would be amazing cause I really miss using my phone as normal!
