It depends on what recovery you're using. Some of them are able to install zips from SD card. Go to the recovery and try to find smth like "Instal from external SD card".

Can you install the 217 update to non-rooted phones without a real SD card

I have rooted a few android phones but decided to keep this one stock. Can I install the 217 update to my phone without rooting it?
I would normally copy the file to update.zip, put in root of sd card and run recovery. However when I do this I get back that it can't mount the SD card which I guess is not surprising since I am only using the internal storage. I had seen notes about putting it in a cache folder to simulate the OTA download. but since I am not rooted I dont think I have access to these folders.
Is there a way to do this without rooting before I get pushed the update?

No. Without a SD card you would need to place the update.zip as well as the .crc file in your internal storage, then move it to your /cache

Doubt about Zeus 7.01 rom flashing

I've installed Zeus v7 with Install zip from SD Card.
but i have a question about the 7.01 update.
Do i choose again Install zip from SD card ? or Apply update from SD card ? or Apply /sdcard/update.zip ?

i think this is the same. better to use install zip and don't forget to wipe cache before flash the update

You should use Install zip from SD Card not Apply Update...

for those wondering, if you go to update...it will try to find update.zip thats why we use install from zip

For even update also....choose option INSTALL ZIP FROM SD
