Hi
I have Note 2 running stock rom updated to Android 4.3.
Planning to get the Gear 2 / Neo . My decision to buy the same is basically because of the health options i.e. pedometer, heart rate monitor etc. which sync to S Health.
However, as note 2 does not have S-Health, will we get an upgrade from Samsung to use the watch to its fullest.
Thanks
I have the exact same question. I'm running Omni ROM 4.4.2 and hope I can make the Gear 2 Neo work with it.

I take no credit for this, but did some digging and found the APK for you:

Install that guy and you're good to go. I would assume Samsung will eventually release the app officially for all supported devices, or maybe the Gear will have a download for it.. either way, you should be good.
On my US Verizon Note 2, I just received an over the air update providing an integration app. called: "Fitness with Gear", so looks like someone is listening...

My experience with neo on stock rom is better than the 4.2.2. ROMS which are all based on google bluetooth drivers, which are not very good.
On stock you have way better bluetooth connection, no lag while playing music from neo etc.
As for the health options, they're not very good at the moment and I would not recommend you to buy neo if you want accurate health tracking.

Can somebody confirm if this works? I think you need one of the latest updates from Shealth to make it work with gear2.
updated version of s-health

Far from perfect but at least I can use my Neo now.

Fyi: I upgraded my Note 8 to 4.2.2 (KK) and while more things work now (svoice and weather for instance) I still cannot acess the samsung app store for gear 2 apps.....
Samsung, please let the Note 8 access the app store via gear manager...I am pretty sure it is just setting a flag...and I do not want to root it (company policy)!

KK on Note 8
fyi: I fully hard reset my device. Not much changed and I still do not have access to Gear apps in the Samsung app store, despite Samsung claiming I should. See link: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/wearable-tech/SM-R3810ZAAXAR
Here is the text from that Samsung website:
"Samsung Gear™ 2 and Gear 2 Neo are currently compatible with devices that meet the following criteria:
Android™ version 4.3, Jelly Bean or higher
WVGA or higher screen resolution
1.5GB or higher memory"
Note 8 with android 4.4.2 meets all criteria, but still.....
My only 2 options are now:
1) Wait until hopefully samsung will have mercy and enable Note 8
2) root and change the build ID
I read from another Note 4 xda forum that scroll capture feature from Note 5 has been ported to Note 4. Kyubi Note 5 Port V5 ROM the one that has it working according to the following thread. Does anyone know if any dev is working on similar port for N910T/N910T3? This is last missing killer feature from Note 5 that is not yet ported to TMO Note 4. So I hope it's on the way.

I flashed the Dark Lord Note 5 port for my Note 3 (T-Mobile N900T) and since its a Note 5 port and its being considered as a Note 5 (considered as in Settings it says Note 5 and the model number of a Note 5 (SM-920C) does this mean I have to/can use Note 5 kernels even though it is a port? I am new to ported ROMs.

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist. To get you the specific help you need, I'm moving this thread to your device's Q&A forum. You'll receive expert advice there. Good luck!
I light of recent developments, is root access still only available to Note 10+ Exynos chips. I have recently found some information. Indicating:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is a large 6.80-inch screen smartphone boosted with 12 GB of RAM and powered by Samsung Exynos 9825 SoC and the other one with Snapdragon 855 chipset for US/China region users. If you are planning to unlock more features of your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, then you are at the right place. In this article, we will guide you on how to root Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and unlock its bootloader using Magisk Patched boot.
Is it possible to root my note 10+ with Qualcomm Snapdragon chip 855. I have the most recent update of stock firmware and model Sm-975U. Build no. RPIA>200720.012.975USQU5ETLL. I hope I have posted in the right place, if need place avdise.
P.S I am not new to rooting, I have rooted both my Note 3 and my Note 8 using the instructions on XDA whitout any problems. I like the Note model, but not the restrictions and bloatware. If I purchase the devise I should be able I to do as wish. All Sansung needs to do is put in a disclaimer, like XDA, "proceed at your own risk".
