Xiaomi Mi5 CM Button reassignment.

Hi all.
Currently running CM13 Unofficial on my Mi5.
It appears as though my hardware home button on my Mi5 has failed... Hard press does nothing....
This started on my previous ROM 16/09/2016, and continues on my new ROM 22/09/2016.
I strongly suspect this is a hardware issue rather than a software issue...
My question for you guys is how do I reassign buttons? Is it possible to make the right capacitive (currently app switcher) the home button?
Also, my preferred button to use as a home button would be the soft capacitive touch on the fingerprint scanner on the home button so i can retain my app switcher button....
Any help guys is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
When Xiaomi releases Kernel Source there will be an option for non physical home button. On rr you can reassign more options to your buttons. Cm does not work on my device.

If your home button is broken, then maybe you should enable 'on screen' (software) buttons from Buttons submenu in Settings?
Capacitive touch is not going to work on prebuilt kernel (every ROM so far, wait for CM's big update).

Have done so. Cheers for the suggestion.. I didn't know this option existed!
As for the capacitive buttons not working, I've seen this mentioned a number of times... My capacitive buttons have always worked since flashing CM?

Yeah, fingerprint to unlock and such.. What about touching (not pressing) home button to return to the launcher? That's what everybody wants to have (and waits for proper kernel)

OK... Thats what I don't have...
Thanks for clarification.
Any idea when there's likely to be a build with this baked in?

Trigger task by pressing home button when on home screen

I am trying to create a profile where I can add an extra function to my home button when on the home screen. But I can't get Tasker to react to home button press. I have tried both AutoInput and TouchTask, but none of them give any reaction. As I am using a Huawei Mate 9 Pro, which has a fingerprint scanner as a home button (no physical press, just touch/finger print), I have also tried both Fingerprint Scanner Tools and Fingerprint Quick Actions. They both work, momentarily, but after a short while the stock functionality takes over.
Does anybody know of a way to get tasker to react to home button/fingerpress press, only when on home screen, given the above limitations?
EDIT:
Fingerprint Scanner Tools works as a plugin to tasker (some times), but NOT when on home screen.
So, what's up with the app you mentioned in your other thread? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3603433
Didn't work as intended?

Nope. I got the intent stuff to work fine, but the custom home function work like crap...
You can't use Nova? I have it open my app drawer if I press home on my home screen

That's a very good suggestion, I did not think about that! :good:
Nova can directly run Tasker tasks as a shortcut. I used to set it up to run a task when I swipe up on an icon.
And I just tried it, you can connect this behaviour to the home button, too.

How virtual home button works, is it possible to override it?

There is this settings to make virtual home button react on pressure.
So when pressing lower part of screen device can be awake, even there is no physical home button.
Is it possible to override it with xposed or something?
How it works, is note 8 screen 3d touch enabled?
If you do not want the function, you can disable in settings, or, what exactly do you want?

I'm guessing he wants to remap the button so it does something else like turning off the screen and locking the phone for example. I don't think it's possible (yet at least) but it would be nice to have that option.
Then the closest thing available would be to remap the home button in nav bar , it can be done with greenify

Good morning Is there a way with tasker to assign the screenshot function to the long press of the home or overview button since the lineageos ROM does not allow it?
I have lineage 19.1 wirh root

Should be possible. I'm not sure if Takser itself is able to intercept Home button presses, but if not, you could probably use Button Mapper app:
Button Mapper: Remap your keys – Aplikacje w Google Play
Przemapować przyciski sprzętowe, aby uruchomić dowolną aplikację, skrót lub działania
play.google.com
Create task in Tasker: Take screenshot. Then configure Button Mapper to intercept this task on Home long press.
In theory should work

Question Flashlight on long press power button (or lock screen shortcuts) - Oxygen 13

Hi guys,
First of all, I do not use Gestures and its not activated. So please don't tell me you can do a V on lockscreen, I know already.
I used to have crDroid on my previous OP3T device. You could activate the flashlight on long press of the power button when the screen was off.
Is there any way of adding such a feature to OxygenOS? The device is rooted if it can help. Maybe an available package on F-Droid would allow such customization?
Alternatively, maybe a lockscreen shortcut button on bottom left along with the camera button?
Any way to quickly activate the flashlight with minimal handling of the phone/screen.
Thx
i am looking for built in feature too, but you can use this for now :
Key Mapper - Apps on Google Play
Unleash your keys! Open source!
play.google.com
tested it: seems accessibility is off for this app for security reasons.
