I DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS THREAD INSTEAD: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-how-to-root-mate-9-decrypt-data-t3569986
It's easier as you don't need to get a decrypted boot image.
Thank you ajsmsg78 for your work on this.
If you rooted using this method you don't need to re-root. Only difference is that SuperRoot patches boot image to "decrypt" automatically.
Perfect. Will try this later and report back. Thank you!
Just a tip, wipe dalvik & cache after flashing, fixed some small bugs for me (Not being able to get into developer options)
Also, RSA breaks if you flash the wrong boot image (165 on 138) so no adb
Yes!!!!

Check Settings - About - Build number

About safeness, worst case you can use FunkyHuawei to restore (Unless you're using the US C567, and it's not a free service). But restoring stock boot using fastboot should be enough, and you would do a data wipe in vain.

So... To be clear for the folks that need clarity (me) to prevent messing up a device without a downloadable full ROM (though I'll do a full TWRP Backup to the best of my ability post step one), the current US only build appropriate boot image is B138?
Thank you for the screenshot. Ready to pop open the new device box and unlock the bootloader and fastboot. This helps so I'm flashing the correct modified boot.img in recovery.

Yeah when I get home I'll take care of it. Make sure your data is decrypted before you flash the boot.img. I had no issues with any boot images on my C567 US version.

Edit, your bootloader must be unlocked to use this. If your bootloader is not already unlocked, unlocking it will wipe your data and this method is not recommended.
This is a modified factory image that will not erase your user data or custom recovery. This can be used even if you’re rooted and with modified system files, xposed framework, or custom recovery. Once installed you will lose root, just flash supersu in your custom recovery. Xposed should still be on your device so just go into the app and re-install it. For any modified system files, you will have to re-modify those.
This is intended for those on the stock rom, rooted, and with a custom recovery. It’ll work if you have a custom rom but will put the stock system on.
I am not responsible for anything you do to your device so flash at your own risk. Always backup before doing any significant changes to your device. I would recommend off your device in case something happens
.
To use, download the modified factory image here http://d-h.st/OEl Use 7-zip or winrar to extract the files.
Mirror https://mega.co.nz/#!EVQyiaSR!sUIKUSR40EQSbL2p6OaOZq2NBxrWs0opbc6IbgbGVvI
Supersu by chainfire can be found here, CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
Boot into the bootloader. From a cmd window opened where the flash-all file is just type flash-all. You can use shift, right click on the hammerhead-ktu85m-Modified folder to open a command window in the correct folder.
You can also just double click on the flash-all.bat
This is tested on a windows machine; however it should work on a Mac too, flash the flash-all.sh.
Gonna give this a shot
So far, so good. I just flashed jd1639's modified factory image using the provided instructions. Please note, there is a bit of a pause during the process, in all, it took around 78 seconds to complete. My N5 now says Android is upgrading. I'm in ART mode, so this will take a while. I will edit this post once it is completely up and running.
Thanks jd1639!
UPDATE: Everything seems to work fine, however my signal levels are not reporting as high as they were with the .17 baseband on Sprint. So I guess I won't have LTE in my office at all!
Any chance of a zip file to flash from custom recovery

Here are stock Mate 9 boot images that are modified to not force encryption. You can flash these in fastboot or TWRP, just select Image in TWRP then flash. An insecure boot image lets you use adb remount, and adb push or adb pull etc. to /system and its contents. Basically it's using ADB as root. I'll modify more upon request provided you link me to the boot you want modified.
ALL VERSIONS:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=152685
*To remove encryption after flashing to stock , boot into TWRP, format data, reboot recovery then flash a decrypted boot.img. If you're running a stock modified kernel, formatting data alone will not remove encryption. The idea is to always be decrypted. Never boot the system with a stock unmodified boot.img or it will encrypt your internal storage. So if you're fastboot flashing back to stock from another rom, flash a modified boot.img instead of the stock one*
In the full root thread it was advised to format data first and then flash modified boot image. In this OP it says to flash modified boot image and then format data. Does the order matter or can you do it both ways? Thanks

Just to clarify. After you Format Data your data partition gets decrypted until first boot.
That's why you have to flash the decrypted boot.img before booting.

I've tried to root my PRA-LA1 (Huawei GR3 2017 PRA-LA1C185B120) without making a TWRP backup of my partitions :crying: I wiped the data and cache but after that when accessing to system I am not anymore able to:

-doing a factory reset from security options

2- I Downloaded the B182 TWRP Backup from This Post Made By ChinHona used the rooted version from this link
3- I used TWRP to make a Backup of my own partitions just in case , and I made a full Restore Without oeminfo and Version

Next to putting stock boot you need to flash system partition again. Backup your data first just to be sure you have it before you might need to flash the complete August image

This won't help him as he also modified the system partition

This won't be enough if he mounted or modified system partition as he said. Ota will still fail even with stock boot.

Depends on what you do. I used AdBlock and restoring stock boot was not enough for me that time
If you modified anything directly in system then your only option is to download the full rom and flash it with fastboot
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.6.13.0....0.ODIMIFE_20180913.0000.00_8.1_fbd1120565.tgz
Backup your data first and be careful, it will will wipe your data by default
I updated the toolkit to force update using fastboot. just run the unbrick option. Make sure to make a backup first, just in case

Edit: Also, if you have any bugs please let me know, I can fix it today.

I guess you can, choose clean all, and flash_all_except_data.bat in the corner in miflash, careful not to choose lock
but you should take a backup anyway, you never know

You do not need to flash all. Yesterday I have updated my unlocked and rooted phone with changed system partition without any trouble, and all my apps and data are still with me. Just flash stock system and boot images via fastboot, then make OTA update. Then copy new stock boot.img to your phone, open Magisk Manager, click Install, patch boot.img, copy patched_boot.img back to PC and flash it via fastboot. That is all. For me the most difficult part was to wait for downloading 3 Gb of data from terribly slow miui.com.

Did you do some research by yourself or are you expecting others to do the work for you? It's really not that hard..

I understand your fear but try looking for commands and procedures yourself in the first place and then ask if this is right. Will help you more than just copy pasting stuff, you don't understand. This way you will become knowledgeable yourself but it takes time of course. Don't fear!
