This kernel is made based on @bauner's CM 12.1 NightOwl ROM, LineageOS 13 with a few changes,. Originally based on my preference in what features I want added, I thought the rest of the Note 1 users might benefit from a bit more variety on his projects.
Just flash the kernel and you're done, make sure you're on the latest ROMs by bauner. As always, I'm not responsible if you brick your device due to some freak accident.
What's new:
V3
Merged kernel patches from bauner's commits
Redo some optimisation flags
V2
Did some optimisations
Tweak Interactive codes
Fix possible memory leaks
Please refer to my commits for more detailed info
V1.5
Set Westwood as TCP default
V1
Set Interactive as the default governor
Undervolt by 50mV
13-step CPU frequency
Download links:
CM 12.1
LineageOS 13
I did not test LineageOS 13, so please have a copy of the original NightOwl kernel on standby before flashing.

The target loads do not need to make a new line, one spacing for each of them is the way it is written.
For example, write it as: 95 200000:60 300000:33 and so on.
For better multitasking:
I'm getting lags on MM, too. Might just "upgrade" back to LP and give your kennel a try...

Hi AutumQueen92,
I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind...
- Have you tried a Forest-LP kernel ?
- If „Yes“, what is the difference between those two... ?
- Is your kernel overclocked ?
- What is your experience between those three kernels when you compare them (Bauner's, Forest-LP and your own) ?
- Don't be too polite and then not to write about your kernel too... [emoji2]
Thanks in advance.
Cheers ! [emoji481] [emoji481]

1. Yeah I've tried it.
2. If you mean this kernel and his, we both used different toolchains (compilers). I'm not sure what UberTC does but the one I used is made to optimise the Note's CPU itself so it works better. But then Forest's kernel has some kind of overclocked display panel, I'm not sure what that is. It's been a long time since I used his kernel so mine is more updated since it's based on Bauner's.
3. Nope, I don't want overclock. Apps these days are made for quad-core CPUs, so overclock will do nothing except hurt your hardware.
4. I haven't been using Forest's kernel very long, I preferred War kernel or Bauner's stock kernel better. By combining those two to make mine, I feel that it's faster now although I want to do a longer usage without rebooting. Lately I've been rebooting a lot to stabilise the kernel and make some fixes, but the first usage is already showing good results. I'm trying to implement my custom tweaks, if I can't embed it into the kernel I'll post a small section for it in next month's update. Right now battery usage is about the same but better performance.
5. ??? You mean I should post a more detailed explanation about the kernel?

Everything is clear now !
I already have downloaded your kernel last week and I'm gonna flash it now, cause I'm already few months using Forest-LP OC kernel and it is very stable kernel ... With no „reboots“ at all...
I'll report my experience after few weeks with your kernel...
Thanks again for explaining your work. [emoji106]

After less than a day of using your kernel I'm amazed with working of it, but I use „performance“ governor and it works great. How difficult for you is to OC this one to 1,6 GHz ?

That's very hard to believe because performance governor just clocks your CPU at max frequency the entire time. Also very impossible, I don't want OC on the Note 1. If you want it so badly you can try building your own kernel and adding it.

The performance governor is not a good idea.
As @AutumQueen92 said it will run the cpu at the highest clock all the time.
After a very short time it will reach the thermal throttling temperature and then it will constantly switch between 800 and 1400Mhz
You can see it with this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yanyan.cputemp
Using V1 right now and it is very stable, should I flash the V2? Also one more thing is it possible to tweak the minimum brightness value to 1 without changing the source value and rebuild the whole kernel afterward? Thanks!

I know that thermal throttling is something what can be a problem but I have monitoring app which show me all the time what is a current temperature of processor and untill now I have no problem at all except that battery life is half of what it should be normaly...
Actually, when I wrote last post I was on „Ineractive“ governor and now I use „Performance“ governor and „cfq“ scheduler with 256 kb „read ahead“ value on the internal memory and also on the SD card. So I'll update you how far I will be satisfied with this combo. In the next few weeks I also will flash new from the scratch again your LP rom and again test it with your kernel and then again with Forest LP kernel and then at least with this one kernel...

First a question: is it for stock or CM?
Then, do I get you right that this is kernel is more-less cherry-picked?
But anyways, thanks for your work

Theorically raising the throttle temps this Tegra 3 platform can reach the One X (customized) level but this phone overheats too soon so i tried to setup the best i can without raising too much the temperatures limit.
The GPU clock doesn't give increase in perfomance, i tested it before editing the sources, even if you raise all GPU frequency at 600 i guess for the same thermal reason.
So for now i think i found the best overlock/battery drain compromise without compromise stability.
We all know this nvidia platform could indeed give much more performance with a better thermal cooling.

Moretz Kernel 0.2.2 - Galaxy Note 8.0 EditionGT-N5110 & GT-N5100
Features:
Linux 3.0.101
Frandom
Network speed enhancements
Dynamic read ahead
CPU OC to 1.8GHz
GPU OC to 533MHz
CPU Voltage Control (OV/UV)
Tuned ZZMoove CPU governor (removed all other governors)
Intelligent CPU core hot plugging
Touchboost control, set to 800MHz
ARM CPU topology
LCD frequency switching (40Hz on screen dim, 60Hz on active)
Intelligent GPU scaling (Mali GPU control)
Lots of other fixes/tweaks
Intelligent zipalign at boot (init.d)
Intelligent sql db optimization at boot (init.d)
So, what's so special here?
A few things actually. I grabbed various code bits from many well known developers and worked some of my own magic on this build. First, I bumped the kernel up to 3.0.101 (FINAL) form kernel.org as a base on top of the stock CM 11.0 kernel. Once I pushed all of the enhancements listed above, I focused on tuning ZZMoove to balance performance and battery. I believe I've succeeded in that realm, so all other governors have been removed. This is a flash and forget kernel package. That's what makes it special ... the users do not have to do any tuning, it works, and it works well.

I like to make things simple. Let your device boot up and that's it. No configuration necessary. But, if you want to screw with the CPU governor and ZZMoove settings, I made that easy for you. Just edit the zzmoove file in your init.d directory with the settings you want and reboot.

How to properly report bugs:
When reporting a bug, you must provide me with some very specific information so that I am able to either reproduce the problem or diagnose it based on logs. If you cannot provide information that I need, I cannot attempt fix the issue.
If the device is crashing:
Please make a copy of your last_kmsg immediately after rebooting the device.
Please make a copy of your logcat for the subsequent reboot.
Attach both files to your bug report and specifically state exactly what happens (are there steps to reproduce it?).
In all cases, please provide a logcat of when the issue occurs or specifically describe what is happening and how you can reproduce the error.
If you have any current issues prior to flashing my kernel, don't expect me to fix them.
The more detail you provide, the more helpful your bug report will be for me.
Feature Requests:
I'll make this one easy, I don't do feature requests. I used to do that, it became a real pain in the ass to keep everyone happy and the project I was working on bug free. Put simply, I put this together to work specifically for me and then decided to share it here. If at some point I decide to add new features, then I'll release new versions to you.

Would you be willing to test? Only reason I didn't publish for n5100 is because I don't have one to verify that I didn't break anything.
I just have to update a few configs and run a new build, let me know.
as an owner of the n5100 I´ll be very interested in your work. so my first question - will this kernel work with probam 1.3.2? maybe I could test it

I suppose it should, I did a quick check and looks like that ROM uses the same base 3.0.y kernel that CM 11.0 does. The partition scheme on the devices is the same too (both devices us /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 for the boot partition) ...
There's only one real way to find out though, someone has to flash it - worst case is that it doesn't boot up.
Go ahead and give this a rip and let me know how it goes. It's the same build as the OP with the 5100 defconfig updated to include the features that I added for the 5110.

REMOVED ... SEE OP FOR DOWNLOADS
MD5:

If it doesn't boot, just reflash your previous ROM - that'll replace this kernel with whatever one is included there.
Yeah, kernel runs nice So I`ll kept my device on standby, make a wow raid and check the battery stats
Thx for your hard work
Assuming all goes well, I'll update the op to state that both devices are supported and working.

UPDATE 05/01/2016
Ok another update, havent managed to fix usb forced charge or otg yet but am looking at those, this build has got some interesting features though
Code:
Sound Control Mod to improve sound quality
Init.d Support
ZRAM Enabled, use one of te many apps in play store to activate it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINOR UPDATE 04/01/2016
Only a small bugfix release, trying to fix usb force charge and fix a broken wifi. new build is up now at links below
TW Kernel
CM Kernel
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 03/01/2016
Yet another Update folks, this one is small and only adds a couple of things
Code:
Add USB Forced Fast Charging support (google for info)
Add a Build that works on Cyanogenmod also
for each version released (from 1.3) their will be 2 seperate zip files, one will have TW in the name and one will have CM
the TW Version WILL ONLY work on touchwiz roms
and the CM version will work on Cyanogenmod based roms
have tested on CM 12.1 and it works and seems to fix a few bugs aswell apprently
nice short one for today
any questions or requests are welcome and feel free to let others know about these kernels
zips are in the download section or available here :

UPDATE 02/01/2016
New update Released today folks.
new features added
Code:
600mhz GPU Overclock
New I/O Schedulers added
New CPU Governors added
Added a few Different Hotplug drivers to hopefully aid Battery life
Entire kernel is built using the Hyper-Linaro 5.1.1 Toolchain with -O3 and graphite enabled for extra performance and general smoothness
Bit More coding has been worked on for OTG support but this is not working yet if anyone has any ideas or can help with OTG support please contact me as i am a bit stumped on this at moment
download zip file in the downloads tab or from :
currently 1.8ghz seems to be the highest Overclock possible on the cpu as anything more than that fails to boot. still looking into it
any questions or suggestions are welcome
donations are much appreciated also
--------------------------------------------------------
Hello All, and welcome to 2016
got a nice new update for the snapdragon variants of the S5 Mini (g800h/ds/hq etc) and this kernel is as far as im aware quite unique across any device using the msm822x cpu. so you are all going to be part of a very special group for trying this one, that group is going to be the serious overclock group, this kernel overclocks not to 1.6ghz, not to 1.7 ghz but all the way to 1.8 ghz currently, and unless someone can let me know otherwise this is the fastest speed i have seen from a msm8226/8 based device. even the 2nd generation moto g only has a 1.6ghz clock.
changelog overall for this kernel from stock is :
Code:
Boosted Notification LED Brightness as default is quite dim apprently
Added UKSM(Ultra-Kernel Samepage merging) for performance and memory management
added interactive cpu governor
Enabled Fading LED Notification Light
Removed pretty much all debugging junk from kernel as its not needed
switched to linaro 4.9.4 compile with cortex a7 optimization
[strong]1.8Ghz CPU Overclock[strong]
550mhz GPU Overclock
100mhz Base GPU Clock (battery saving FTW)
zzmoove CPU governor
Few different I/O governors including FIOPS and BFQ
SU supported and have disabled samsungs stupid rooting protection
thanks again to sasukesama for testing this one, and again risking his device for it.
check the downloads tab for the files, i have created an update zip aswell as the standard img file and replacement wlan.ko for those who want to do them manually, i HAVE NOT created an odin file for this.
please remember to backup before flashing and i can not promise it will work on your device due to the silicon lottery when it comes to cpus etc.
any questions please feel free to ask
THIS WILL WORK ON TOUCHWIZ 5.1.1 ONLY AT THE MOMENT

By flashing this kernel, you accept your fate.
This is my personal project, because of the lack of any custom kernels that had the features I want. So let me introduce myself. First of all, I'm noob in kernel developing. I've been using many great kernels on my Desire HD and Nexus 4. I've been hoping for such a kernel for our devices for the last 3 months but as it seems, more time is spent on cooking roms instead of kernel development. So well, here we are. I've been working on that for the last two weeks so, this is probably stable, but the alpha tag will stay at least till more people confirm that it works on different roms.
Initial kernel features:
Compiled with stock toolchain (for now)
Disabled software CRC + option to turn it on
Disabled fsync + option to turn it on
Fixes for high cpu load times, which can cause some governors to not work as they should
Disabled zram - with 2/3 GB of ram in our devices, we don't really need that.
Added Kernel Samepage Merging - off by default
Added FIOPS and SIO i/o schedulers
Added ZZmove and ElementalX cpu governors
Added toggle for Touch boost - you can now turn that off.
Added full KCAL display settings support.
Other optimizations
Safe roms confirmed to be working with the kernel
Official AICP - tested by me
Official RR - tested by @nexuspur (Huge thanks to you mate!)
AOSP+RRO - tested by @sheshuvadrevu
Official AOKP - tested by @DarkHero140
CM by banmeifyouwant - tested by @CodeBreaker13
DU - tested by @Windslash31 and @DarkHero140
Not safe roms
Mokee - giving bootloops
Santosh's CM13 - giving bootloops.
Flashing Instructions
Flash only if you're using CM based roms that follows the official CM device/kernel/proprietary repos! That kernel IS NOT FOR MIUI or AOSP Rom
Make backup of boot in twrp
Flash the kernel zip and reboot
About feature requests
I'm sure that many of you will ask for feature A B C. Please don't mention wake gestures as dt2w and swipe2wake, because I will NOT add them. To rework all the gestures for that is a massive job. Even if it was an easy commit to cherry-pick, I still wont add it, because this is battery drainer. We have FP sensor so use it, or wake the device with the power/volume buttons.
Everything else as request is welcomed, but not guaranteed that it will get in the kernel. Remember this is my project and I'll be adding only features that I find useful.

Current Stable Version: 1.0
Stable Release Date: 2016-07-11
Created 2016-07-10
Last Updated 2016-07-11
Changelogs:
KTO Stable 1.0
Added adreno idler driver for lowering the GPU power usage
Added the following tcp congestion algorithms: veno, reno, bic, westwood, highspeed, hybla, htcp, vegas, scalable, lp, yeah, illinois (Cubic as default)
Some optimizations here and there
KTO Stable 1.1
Added Alucard and Darkness governors. They both perform well. I'm using Alucard which is tuned a bit.
Some vibration tunes
Changed the toolchain from google's default to @DespairFactor UberToolchain 4.9. Sadly I get bootloops after Miui logo with 5.X so can't even get a logcat. Will debug that in the future.
KTO Stable 1.2
Unlocked 1440MHz for a53 and 1804MHz for a72 cores freqs, just like on Xiaomi's original kernel. (Thanks for the tip @Umang96)
QC 2.0 is added - Haven't seen any change with the stock charger. Temperature is normal. Charging around 1600 mah.
Alucard - tuned one more time for the new freqs.
KTO Stable 1.3
Synched with latest CM sources, so we have new led driver and many bugfixes.
Added hardware CRC32 accelerator
Fixed -2/50% bug for people that had if before
Fixed the sudden 2% battery drop bug
Added power suspend driver
Remove the so called "qc 2.0" fast charging. To be fair, I haven't seen any improvement in charging time, but the batter was going hot. Charge your device overnight.
Some entropy tuning
Other patches for better memory speeds

Hey there, will this work on my P3100 running SlimRom Nougat? Thanks!
Thanks!
Will test ASAP and report here!
Idea: is it possible to get some build with 1.4 or 1.5 GHZ like MM or LP kernels we had previously for this tab ? maybe it could boot at 1.2GHZ but with the proper tools (like setcpu) this higher levels would be possible as the user would test this possibility in each device! This boost is the only way to get updated apps and games to run properly in these tabs today and even battery savings can be reached with the right tweaking!

Yes!
It worked!
Do you have any recommendations to configure the kernel to get the tablet run faster and smoother? I dont care much about battery.

Thanks for the info,
You can enable touch boost with the settings i provided in the the second post, just change the boot duration to 1000 or 500 ms!
Switch to SIO i/o in IO scheduler settings.
Switch to LULZACTIVE GoV
Also do you use telegram?
Getting a boot loop on the kernel from 22/01/2019, but boots fine with the kernel from 20/01/2019.
Using P5110 with OmniROM with Android 7.1.
Am I missing much on the older version?

Dont worry I will be dropping a new build soon.
Seems to me like the bootloop on p5XX devices is caused by Overclocking to 1200Mhz :/
Hi.
I have both: P3110 and P5110 and both run 1.52GHZ fine with CandySiX-espressowifi-1.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-0320.zip + DhollmenM-Espresso_Kernel_20160629-P5110.zip OR DhollmenM-Espresso_Kernel_20160629-P3110.zip !
It is this limit I would like to test with updated ROMs and your kernel!
Thanks again.
PS: I can test your kernel builds with this updated frequencies if you need!
