Audio - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi, I am considering buy opt3 and I watched many reviews, but what I am noticed that audio recording have some issue. Voice is mufled and voice cancelling for overjob. Or is this problem past with new update? Thanks

Maybe I got a lucky phone....There is absolutely nothing wrong with my phone except for what's normal (OnePlus manipulate music!!) I hate that. I can listen to YouTube music normal. And games videos ECT...But when I play Google play music the sounds are everywhere!!

What do you mean when you say that Oneplus manipulates music? Is it the audio from the headphone jack and doesnt switching off the audio tuner fixes that?

So what is your result? Can you make it video with voice and post it somewhere?

I don't have any issues
But I have bought many devices past years. And what I learnt is that no mobile device is perfect according... You have to compromise somewhere...
Sometimes it's the
audio chipset( bad music quality)
Camera
Development
Ram
CPU
Looks
Screen
Or etc
You have to decide what you can compromise

So when you call someone, there is no complaint with your voice, or when you record video, a voice is clear, no muffled?

[VIDEO] Google Nexus 7 - Camera Test & Review

Thanks for the review, it looks like a decent camera under the more extreme tests you performed. I say this as most would use the cam for hangouts or Skype only.

Having used it for some video chat, this camera is barely even suitable for that. Unusable indoors under low light conditions.

I can understand the image quality suffering in doors with low lighting, but why would the frame rate drop so much? That seems like a glitch/software issue.

I agree. It was not what I had anticipated. I'm pretty fluent in cameras and photography, and there isn't really any reason for the camera hardware to do this, it's obviously software related. I plan on trying other apps to get a better handle on things.

I'd agree that the camera is good for what it is. It's definitely only viable for things along the lines of skype and google hangouts. It seems to have an issue with autofocusing as well but that could be software.

Could it be using some sort of frame-averaging algorithm in an attempt to reduce noise? Like take (30/7=4.29) four frames and average the noise out giving one good frame per four samples?
Thanks reverendkjr
Quality looks quite good.
I have Tango video call app installed on the Nexus 7 and on my Galaxy Note - comparing them side by side, looking at my face, there is more sharpness and detail from the Nexus 7 video (whether I'm using WiFi or 3G on Note), and I had always thought the Galaxy Note did quite well with its front-facing camera (certainly is better than the iPad 3!).
So I think Google has done a good job with this front camera - 1.3 MP vs. the Galaxy Note 1.9 MP.

I plan on taking a look at Tango, Skype, etc on this device in a later video. I had no idea that the Galaxy Note camera was 1.9MP. What an odd size.

Thanks, found the modaco camera launcher !
BTW on Skype the video quality is quite bad with a quality setting of high. On the same wifi connection, my galaxy nexus n laptop work fine.
Thanks great video!

exactly my point - not sure if this is a skype issue or a nexus 7 issue! i thought i could use this to skype when i am at airports, etc as i travel a lot. Unfortunately no, i am back to using my huge laptop or the tiny screen of galaxy nexus!

I'm getting similar results when using skype on different wifi networks. I think it may be a camera driver issue. Not sure. I haven't tried it with Tango or any other app just yet.
^^ has anyone tried with google hangouts or gtalk video or something? I am sure google tested this on atleast their own video services before launching the product. Skype does not officially support nexus 7 yet so it could be just a skype issue

sound & camera performance.

What do you think of this phone's sound sounds like, especially with headphones or external speaker playing music or videos?
Im still on lg optimus 2x. Is there any1 in here coming from the same phone could do the comparison for me?
Camera and video recorder too, please.
Thanks.
Stock camera app is terrible, as I noticed after I installed "HDR camera+". The difference in quality is hugely significant.
The sound is very fine on the headphones, especially with poweramp installed (320KBPs 44.1KHz). I think the phone speaker sounds very 'tinny', as in low quality. It does go very loud though.

App for good live music recordings?

The htc voice recorder app distorts with live band sound levels. The video camera records beautiful clear undistorted audio of the same band. It seems htc didn't put the same brains into the voice recorder app... It'd be nice not to have to waste storage on video just to get good live music audio recordings. Anybody know how to fix this? There don't seem to be any gain settings in the app...
You could always record the video, go home and extract the audio with a PC application then delete the video.

thanks for the suggestion, i did end up using the video app to record, then found an app called "Android Audio Editor" that could actually transcode mp3 audio from the mp4 video right on the phone. It's a 3 day trial of the app, but it did a nice job. Here's a sloppy rehearsal of a live recording in a small room with live drums. Pretty impressive for a phone!

There's an update being released for audio and camera.
For sounding like garbage, that mp3 you posted sounds pretty damn good. If that makes since.
I tried to record Joe Walsh on my 3d evo at the Rose Garden ( Portland Oregon). It sounds really bad...Distortin' Mortin.

thanks! i'm very happy with the camera video and audio quality now, i'm blown away by how good it sounds and looks! it's great that HTC wen't above and beyond to create such an amazing multimedia experience with this device...
didn't mean to confuse my question... the mp3 i posted was the audio extracted from a video camera recording, not the bad one from the voice recorder app... for comparison, here's the bad distorted audio from the voice recorder app https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8nksirjxneivkg/Voice0002.aac )
I've gotten some decent "live" recordings using the earbud mic filter. Just plug in the beats earbuds and record with the system app.

Interesting, I haven't tried that, I assumed that was a mono Mic. (Maybe better for covert bootlegs?)
I'm really excited about the great stereo dual membrane mics on the One, they sound impressive for music taken from video, we just need to find an audio only app that can take advantage of the great mics correctly.
Irig seems to be decent. If you register you can optimize the audio some.

Super Loud Music - HD Recording Nexus 5

Hey I was driving home from work where I safely put my phone "hands free" and had it record over some loud music. I embarrassingly sang a little bit too, to show the recording capabilities.

Well, that definitely sounds better than when I've tried to use the N4 to record anything loud, but it's hard to tell how that volume compares to what I've tried to do. I'd love it if someone could record the same loud source on both an N4 and N5 to see if the microphone is any better or not.

Weird loud feedback noise when recording video

Has anybody experienced this?
Whether 4k or regular video, there's a pretty loud feedback noise. It doesn't seem to be the mic. Calls are OK and if I record sound only that's fine.
Sony support suggested a software repair but that didn't help.
