Trouble pulling Nandroid Backup into OSX - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I'm having trouble removing the nandroid backups that twrp does from the phone into my macbook.
I've tried adb pull with the phone in the OS and in recovery and both start, but fail shortly after.
I've also tried placing them manually on the macbook using Android File Transfer with the same results.
How can I get these backups off my phone?

[Q] Restoring nandroid from pc - not recognised?

I did a nandroid backup.
Copied it to pc.
Did a full wipe of phone.
Messed about with new rom but didn't like it.
Hooked phone to pc and copied the nandroid to sdcard/clockworkmod/backup (manually creating the backup folder)
Booted into recovery - no restore available.
I did a backup from recovery as a test.
Booted up, hooked phone to pc and cannot see the newest backup location from internal storage.
Back into recovery and I can see the test backup but not my actual backup.
I've done nandroid backup and restores dozens of times and have never come across this.
What am I doing wrong?
did you put the backup in the same file that the test backup is in. i dont think you can manually make a backup folder as the recovery makes it when you make a backup. i could be wrong because i always leave my backups on my phone
Did you just copy the files, or did you put the files into it's own folder within the backup folder?

I wondered if manually creating the backup folder was the issue so I deleted it and then created a backup in recovery. The issue is that the backups creating inr ecovery are not visible on the pc when I look.

I copied the file so it was placed like so:
sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2013-05-29.15.31.41
I can see the backup files using Root Explorer from the ROM I was testing.
They're in /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup which should be the same as sdcard/clockworkmod/backup on the pc, right?
I'll try copying the backup to sdcard/Download on pc then move it to the mnt/shell etc folder in root explorer.
ok, copying to download folder from pc to phone then copying from download folder to the backup location on phone worked.
no idea why sdcard/clockworkmod/backup is not recognised in CWM recovery anymore.
I did update to the 6.0.3.1 version recently so maybe that's why.

[Q] Urgent help I am stupid!! - Wiped all!

Hi!
I accidently selected Format Data in twrp instead of Factory Reset (bad morning anyway). So everything is gone... or is it?
In sdcard folder I had twrp backup and also titanium backup made. Is there a way to restore either or bot of these or if possible whole sdcard folder any way.
TWRP is working and I get adb connection to phone. However I needed way to mount phone /data/media or /data folder in windows when in bootloader/recovery etc mode... is there a way?
Actually situation is not so bad at all!! I reboot my phone and ARHD 71.1 is up & running - however all my data is lot includin backups. So now situation is anyway easier because I can mount my phone in win 7. What should be best program for restoring /data/sdcard?
I would be very very pleased if someone could help me in this situation!!

Disappearing files and space on Lollipop - found them.

I just got done performing my first TWRP backup after upgrading my Nexus 5 to Lollipop LRX21O via OTA. While the phone was still in recovery, its internal storage appeared on my computer, so I copied the backup to my computer and copied back several directories that I cleared from the phone to make room for the backup. After rebooting the phone, I found no sign of the directories I copied back, or of the backup, but the phone's internal storage was nearly full. No sign of the 5GB of free space that was there before I tried to copy things back to the phone.
I booted back into recovery. The recopied directories were there. I deleted them all and rebooted into recovery, and my free space was back. Rebooted Android and the free space was there too. I was able to copy my 5GB of files back to the phone, where everything is now fine.
Apparently some incompatibility between Lollipop and TWRP makes files written by TWRP inaccessible to Android. My phone is not encrypted, so that's not the problem. This was also never a problem with KitKat - I did a nand backup just before the L upgrade and everything was visible everywhere. If you've done TWRP backups on a Lollipop N5 and found them missing after rebooting, or copied files to your phone in recovery mode and found them missing, you're not crazy. Boot back to your recovery partition and look for your files again.
Since 4.2, that's normal for backups taken in recovery, ClockworkMod Recovery is the same.
You can get to the backups in Android via ADB, they're in mnt/shell/emulated
Odd, I saw no change between 4.1 and 4.2, and I've had no trouble copying files to and from the phone using either Android or recovery (TWRP or CWM) till now. I'll compare the storage between the two and see if I've missed something.

HALP! Transfer files while in TWRP? d415

As of now, I am stuck in TWRP. I accidentally formatted EVERYTHING on the phone. so the ROM I wanted to flash is gone. On other phones I had it would be as simple as plugging it back into the computer and using ADB side load. but for some reason, once i formatted everything adb wont recognize the phone. And TWRP wont mount SB storage. I dont have an exSD (which i know would fix my issues right now) so I need to figure out how to transfer files while in TWRP or even get my computer to ADB sideload the ROM for me!

Unable to restore nandroid backup

I wandered around the forum looking for a thread on nandroid backups but there is none regarding problems restoring them.
Here is my story:
I've made a lot of nandroid backups and I always copy them to my pc just in case. But if a wipe everything and then copy back from my sd card into the backups folder of TWRP i'm unable to restore them. TWRP does not even recognize them as backups it does not matter if they are in my sd card or internal storage, I tried to put them back in the same folder and nothing happens . I checked at least twice that the file is there but TWRP simply won't recognize them. Even If I flash a rom from scratch, then copy the file into the folder again and check in recovery for the backup it is still unable to recognize the file.
If I wipe everything but internal storage I can restore them with no problems. But if I copy them i can't. Any solution?. :cyclops:
Did you change the name of the backup?
If I change just one letter of the nandroid it doesn't work anymore.

I didn't changed it. I wil try to copy 2 folders back and check if it works. Thanks.
Did you use another version of TWRP to backup than the one you try to restore with? Sometimes this causes trouble too.So if you made the backup with TWRP 2.8.6.0 you should restore it with the same version. If you´ve changed in between flash the one you made the backup with.

I've been using 2.8.6.0 for a long time, I though that maybe I just needed to upgrade but that's the last version available. I tried numerous times but In just can't. I want to restore the original rom but It seems impossible now. :c
Anyways, thanks for the reply.
