Since our bootloader UI was not updated to the newer "material" version, I extracted the images from the Moto X Pure's logo.bin put them in ours. I used a unlocked warning removed file as base and used this program to modify the logo.bin and used photoshop to fix some of the rough edges of the boxes.
The attached files are NOT TWRP flashable, so uncompress and flash it through fastboot.
EDIT: Now TWRP flashable, made with bhb27's logo flasher
2/24 v2:
Higher res bootlogo
New low charge screen
3/29 v3:
TWRP Flashable!
New teal version
4/15
Google Unlocked bootlogo
Google v2 - better icon
Thanks! My only comment is that the barcodes look a little small. If they were the same size as the stock ones, that would be awesome.

Well I reject that design decision. Attached is a logo.bin in flashable zip format with larger banners. Feel free to add to the OP if you like.

It does indeed work. In fact, I just flashed it again to make sure. Make sure you're using the latest version of TWRP: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39562
As of today, the latest version is 3.0.3 mod 3.
New Google version!
I made it so that it would transition with the stock marshmallow bootanimation nicely.
After flashing the materialized teal logo through TWRP it shows a empty battery symbol with a white question mark when I charge my phone turned off. It still charges and it stills turns on just fine, but is there any way to fix this?

It's your lucky day. I've attached the original files that you asked for, but I've also got the same boot animation, minus the garish white AT&T screen. If you're like me and hate that bright as heck AT&T boot screen, I'd recommend the latter. Your call of course. Don't forget to set permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644) for each file

thank you so much... yes that att white screen that displays at full brightness is so annoying. i can't thank you enough
as the title suggests, can we remove that google logo permanently ?
i have rooted it day one, and have flashed a custom ROM on it now, and when i reboot the phone it always pops up before the actual bootanimation, i am new to this phone and any help regarding this would be appreciated, thank you
Well it can be in two places, first is the bootloader, and nobody messes with the bootloader. Another place could be the HW itself, e.g. the GPU, which displays it while the CPU boots. Then you'd need a soldering iron.
So my guess is not.
It's like the Samsung Note text that's on while booting the phone.
It usually is part of the bootloader indeed. On the Nexus 5, they managed to find a way to inject custom images into the bootloader.img to change the logo and even the look of the menus, but I haven't seen anything like that on teh Nexus 6 yet.
Though, it's the best way of producing paperweights, when people play with flashing modified bootloaders. Usually there's no second chance to fix a flub.

Well, there is a tool for the Nexius 5 (https://github.com/NVISO-BE/nexus_5_bootloader_unpacker/), and it's very possible that it can be updated to work with the Nexus 6, but it would surely take a couple of Nexus 6 shaped bricks.

It"s like the windows and linux drive encrpyting, use must use a password to unlock it. In case of the Nexus 6, force encrypt is storing the password on a hidden partition, and uses it to crypt/decript every access. And since it's done in software, all user-data access is 4-5 times slower than if unencrypted. That's why a lot of people disable the encryption, since if your phone is not full of nekkid picturest, who cares if somebody hacks it, and steals it.

try this, at your own risk of course: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/tool-change-splash-screen-various-t3000218
Technically the fastboot command fastboot flash logo <name of file> will change the boot logo. The file you need to flash needs to be the correct resolution and a .bin file, afaik. Of course there is more than just google logo going on there, there are charging animations among other things that will likely get overwritten if you just flash a simple logo, that's why you need to tool I linked to modify the existing logo file.

These were synthetic benchmarks that measured it. You could only notice writes to user-data taking longer if you are saving gigabytes. Normal size pictures and videos are not big enough to sense the difference. Maybe in some 3D games there's a speed-up, but if you only read/write megabytes, you won't notice it.

It's legit. Just use the tool I linked in post #9. I used microsoft paint to edit the images. In this case I modified the white Google logo itself but you could simply replace it with an image of your choosing. It just needs to be in .png format.

Hello,
I have found a thread about the Nexus 6p boot animation for Nexus 6.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/mod-nexus-6p-logo-bin-bootanimation-t3262923
In this boot animation the google part morphs into the colourfull thing and after this it morphs into the Android logo.
I tried to get this on my 6p but it doesnt work...
Im on cm13 snapshot
When i google it i find the same one for shamu, moto and Nexus 6 but no 6p.
Anyone had this for the Nexus 6p?
I dont know how to place a gif file here so i placed the link to the gif.

The stock animation on the 6P does show the Google logo morph into the animation. I can't really speak for CM ROMs / CMTE, but generally if you want to replace your boot animation all you have to do is;
Rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip
Grant the file explorer of your choice root privileges and navigate to;
/system/media
Rename the bootanimation.zip that's there to bootanimation.zip.bak and copy the other file to the same location and leave it there.
If they aren't already the same, make sure to update the new zips permissions to match the old ones. It should be 644 -rw-r--r--
Reboot.
Not sure about CM ROMs however, I only run AOSP.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I think I know what you're talking about. So when you boot the device it should show Google, and Google would morph in the swirling balls of colour and animation? I could swear that's on stock Android, but I just booted mine and it doesn't do it that way. On my device, it just jumps from Google right into the 4 swirling colours. On my wife's unrooted, not unlocked Nexus 5X, it does the fluid motion from Google to colours.

No problem. It is fluent for me. I'm not sure why the other guy is having issues with it. Just rebooted twice to confirm. In any case I've uploaded the stock animation to this post. (Pulled from stock, rooted 7.0) Replace the file like I mentioned above and let me know how it works.
In the unlikely event you run in to boot loops after installing, reboot to TWRP and use the built in file explorer and go back to /system/media (you may have to mount /system before seeing the files). Delete the bootanimation.zip and then rename bootanimation.zip.bak back to bootanimation.zip. Make sure the permissions are 644 otherwise you'll just see a black screen or the stock "Android" text. Should still boot though.
Let me know if you have any issues.
Edit: Shot a short video with my Nexus 5 2013 of my 6P booting so you could see the transition in action. Here

Tried a substratum boot animation from the domination app. But nothing happened as far as I saw. Same lg image followed by Verizon animation. Hadn't used a oms substratum boot image so I could have done something wrong. But I was pretty sure it was select and ..reboot lol.

Also its possibile to delete bootloading on/off animation ZIP file from media folder to get a stock android animation ( i do it on any roms also on stock LG rom)
Well for Bootanimations all you have to do is scour XDA for Bootanimations with the same display size in mind and manually replace them with a Root/File Manager.

@runningnak3d has answered this before, and I always mess up repeating what he said -- but it's basically you can brick your phone if you don't know exactly what/where you are replacing. On North America V30, people have gotten rid of the annoying unlocked bootloader animation (which is really just a "picture" -- so it's a boot logo) by REPLACING the entire partition with Verizon VS996 "Resources" and Resources_bak" -- which gives you a few seconds of black. But to actually flash a NEW boot logo (something of your own choice) is entirely different and harder.
And @runningnak3d can clarify/correct anything I just said.
Ah, found it:

If you want to figure out the format of the raw_resources partition, that is where all the images are stored. It is possible to change them, but if you mess up, then your phone is a brick since abl will not load -- which is why the risk just wasn't worth it for me.
They are RLE so they have no header. There is an index that gives the name and offset for the location of the image, but not the size (either they are all the same size, or the size is stored somewhere else).

On the VS996 flash zip I no longer have the bootloader warning splash but I do still have the v30 boot logo instead of the v30+. Kinda like to have the v30+ one from the US998U/LS998.
As far as the animations go the Verizon has a boot animation (2part) bootanimation_decrypting (2part) and shutdown animation all in the system/bin/media folder.
Just recently updated the G7 on the Verizon OTA 10f and now it uses the same decrypting animation at boot.
I'll check out that link, I don't have a burning desire for the boot logo but I backed up my boot animation and may do it the old fashioned adb way in recovery. If it goes well I may change the shutdown animation as well.

Wait so does this risk just pertain to the unlocked bootloader warning or for the power on and off animations as well? Cause before on my V20 all I had to do was basically replace the boot animation and shut down animation zips or rename them to .bak so they don't load at all. So as long as I don't mess with the one labeled decrypting then there shouldn't be a risk right?

I presume it pertains to attempting to edit the boot logo (boot splash image) as it is not just a static image file in the system subdirectories.

I downloaded it and looked at the zip it created. It sets the right permissions and placed the animation in the right location. Easy enough to take that zip and swap in a shutdown animation file and rename the permission setting line in the updater script to make one for shutdown animation. I was sitting here over breakfast thinking about swapping the two out on my device. Just for all that work I may as well just use the terminal in twrp and make the chmod changes myself.
And that bhootie site......sheeeeesh that's a lot of porn, and it's shutting down soon as well. I have no idea why ?

FYI, you don't need to set permissions if using

Just copy over the files and it will auto set permissions for you. No need to reboot in less you want to see how it looks of course.

One of the interesting things I found is that this phone boots so quickly. I ramped up the frame rate on my phone to decrease the start time. The Verizon boot animation is looong.
I was going to change the shutdown animation too to a different LG but I realized I was just trying to be different (modding addiction) and when I'm shutting the phone (which is never) I don't pay it any attention.

I'm just wondering if I can change the splash screen to something custom. Any links, helps would be really appreciated.

Of course there are tons of boot animations available.
Here Im putting the mtz file containing Custom MIUI boot screen.
I am NOT talking about boot animation. I am talking about the MI logo at the beginning, with the "powered by" screen
there is a partition called imagefv which can be extracted from the phone or either from a ROM, in it there's all the images from the bootloader(charging animation, locked bl start, unlocked bl start), however the partition appears to be signed with a certificate, so someone who doesn't use their phone as main would need to try it
Well, definitely not me but thanks for that discovery.
