I accidentaly flashed oos 4.0.2 for oneplus 3 on a friends 3t. Zips are now missing but storage still shows 49.6 gb out of 53.6 gb. Should i just flash oos 4.0.2 for oneplus 3t and things will be fine? Please answer
Edit: its on tesla rom. I tried booting to twrp to flash the oos for op3t but twrp wont boot. And files in the internal storage keeps on getting deleted. Any recommendations on recovering the device?
Follow this guide to unbrick the phone. Do know that this will wipe internal storage.

Can you get into fastboot? If so, wipe all the partitions from there and flash.
If not, then you're probably going to have to use the unbrick guide.
Thanks for the answers, its fixed now

Hi folks,
I'm considering taking my OP3T from 4.1.6 to the just released 4.1.7, more to get rid of the nag notification than anything else. But I want to double check the process since this will be my first update since I got the phone.
I have TWRP and Magisk root.
Would the process be to download the entire full package, not just the OTA, flash it from TWRP, then reflash TWRP and Magisk before booting? Or would I need to flash via fastboot based on what is available?
I will make a TWRP backup of the whole thing and copy it to PC before starting anything, but would rather not klutz around.
Is there an update guide that spells it out for the case of being rooted and TWRP enabled?
Thanks

OTA will be enough, just copy the ota zip to the phone and then flash it via TWRP, reflash Magisk and boot the system. No need for full package or TWRP reflash.

Ok thanks! I hear wiping cache is also good plan while I'm in TWRP. Thank you!

Yes, forgot to mention about it
I think you should download the complete OS zip. Have a look at the thread below in OnePlus forum.

Nope,
You are wrong.
For rooted systems, you need to flash the whole 1.4gb Rom.
Also, for the OP, no need to reflash TWRP. It won't be affected by the flashing of the rom.

So, flash the whole ROM (which apparently doesn't include recovery since that's a separate download) in TWRP, then Magisk, then clear cache/dalvik?

Hello All, This is my first post.. Hope I get the help I need .
So the problem I facing was my wifi ic of Oneplus 3t was getting extreme hot (bluetooth never worked , kept searching but in vain ) and due to this it was draining my battery quite soon. I finally decided to get my wifi ic replaced which is pasted on motherboard. After getting it replaced my wifi was gone and bluetooth returned to life but the biggest issue was solved which was the heat issue.
I had installed custom rom before replacing ic to check whether they can help me cool down my phone.
So later when ic was replaced, I flashed the stock rom with MSMDownloadTool and got success, but after that whenever I tried to update to latest 5.0.4 uptill today, it installed fine but when restarted, it came to ONEPLUS round dots splash screen and after few seconds the dots would stop rotating and my phone would restart. After a few restarts it would come to the same stage and then comes to a screen
"encryption unsuccessful "... Now after a zillion tries I tried updating one by one which is in order
3.2.6
3.5.3
3.5.4
till here right now m on success ... All I want to know is what this issue is .. how can i resolve it ???
Here it goes the update.... as soon I updated 4.0.2 , the rom with NOUGAT. it stucks on bootloop

Ok I am about to start with your mentioned method in this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/official-oxygenos-5-0-1-android-8-0-t3728119
Will update soon... Fingers crossed
Still on same stage the circle stops spinning and phone restarts
I dont get it , its booting 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 correctly just all of the later updates give this error... is it because my wifi is not in working condition???
Because for some extra information I can flash any 8.1 based rom without any problems... checked Bootleggers, RR and Havoc...
Please guide me

It sounds to me that this may be related to encryption of the data partition.
Are you flashing the full OOS ROM from https://downloads.oneplus.com ?
Are you using the latest TWRP from https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus3/ ?
If you aren't, then try using them.
If you still have problems then I would format the data partition in TWRP to avoid any encryption issues, then flash OOS and immediately flash the patched boot image from https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...y-force-encryption-op3t-t3688748/post74155053 to prevent TWRP being replaced by the stock recovery.
Note that formatting the data partition will wipe your internal storage and you'll lose all files on your phone.

Yes I flashed full rom... But the problem is just two roms go successful on my device. Rest of the roms no matter if I update them or flash fully they will get stuck on oneplus logo and then restart...

Hello friends..(I am a noob )
Actually I was running on Oreo 8.1 lineage os 15.1 but then I wanted to flash oxygen os 5.0.5 stable ROM I searched for the thread on XDA and then followed it..
Here is what happened:-
1---First I clean flashed the ROM (oxygen os) using TWRP 3.2.3-0 successfully..
But then when I tried flashing magisk 17.1 my phone RESTARTED in between of magisk installation process...??
2--Then I tried it using Blu spark recovery
The same issue occured..
3-- then I tried flashing firmware 1st then OOS
Same issue occurred now my phone vibrated vigorously..
4--when I tried to just flash OOS
It again restarted...
5--Now I want to know how can I flash oxygen os with magisk using TWRP recovery ????
I had tried this process using magisk 14.3, 16,17,17.1
But none worked
Plz help me..
I always use bluespark recovery, I have flashed all Oxygen updates and magisk and never had such problems.
The restart is happening suddenly,in the middle of the flash or after it has finished?

Can u pls elaborate..
How did u flash OOS using Blu spark ??
2 days ago I just did the same (flash firmware, OOS 5.0.5 stable then magisk using TWRP 3.2.3)
At first I flashed magisk v16, then updated to v17, and here's where I encountered a problem, it keeps boot looping at the boot animation
But I solved it by just wiping data and repeat flashing the ROM & everything else
Just make sure none of the files are corrupt I guess, and wipe clean everything including internal storage (after backing up)

There is no reason to wipe internal files during flashing of new roms and Magisk latest version is 17.1, not 17 which was causing bootloops.
So your post is totally wrong and better next time be careful of what you are writing.

OP said something about a clean flash, so he probably already cleared his data. So it shouldn't be a big deal if he does it again.
When changing from LOS to OOS you should always clear data anyway.
I think you might not be wiping everything before flashing. If you have a computer, I would follow this steps (assuming that you already backed up all your photos, documents, etc):
1- Download the factory image to your PC
2- Wipe EVERYTHING in twrp (through the advanced option)
3- Reboot to recovery
4- Connect your phone to the PC and send the factory image zip to the phone just like with any other usb drive.
5- Flash the file through twrp and inmeadiately flash latest magisk
6- Reboot to recovery and do a factory reset through twrp.
7- Reboot and be happy.
One or more of those steps might be unnecesary, but I always do it like that and it always works...
Have fun!
Hi,
maybe someone here can help me or point me in the right direction for a guide. That would be much appreciated!
I have a Oneplus 3T (A3003) that I flashed to LineageOS 14.1 with Magisk-Root a while ago.
I have been stuck on 14.1-20171005-NIGHTLY-oneplus3 for a while now, because since then, whenever I tried to do a nandroid backup from within TWRP, the backup failed because of some kind of error on the data partition (I believe). I haven't flashed a new version since then and haven't come around to it until now, because everything ran very smoothly. :silly:
Since I would like to switch to a more modern ROM (I was thinking of going back to Oxygen OS (5.08)) I started playing around with it yesterday and noticed that TWRP (I think 3.2.0) would not start anymore. It will always get stuck on the logo screen.
I then tried to flash a new version (3.2.3.1) through the Official TWRP app. It still got stuck on the logo screen and I tried flashing 3.2.3.0 after reading about problems with 3.2.3.1 but the results were the same.
Can you please tell me how to get TWRP working again and how to flash OxygenOS 5.08 on my 3T or point me to the neccessary guides?
Thank you.
Data about the phone:

As OOS implies enforced encryption of data partition, going to an from it can be a bit tricky. Simplest way is by wiping using Qualcomm factory restore tool and then just OTA upgrade or flash latest OOS zip.

@r_wraith, I'm thinking that your data may be formatted f2fs and be encrypted but no on-boot password, and have a lot of data in your user data. This could cause a long start time in TWRP.
So try waiingt for about 5 minutes when you boot into TWRP. It may end up getting past the logo screen.

That worked, thank you. Yes, my data partition is/was encrypted.
Since TWRP seems to be working again, do I need to flash some kindof firmware upgrade before I flash Oxygen OS or is this included in the OxygenOS-Image and only needed for flashing ANdroid 8 Custom ROMS?

The OOS zip includes the firmware. Custom ROMs don't because they use the OOS firmware. The firmware is stored in separate partitions so it isn't affected by wiping the system and data positions.
Since you're coming from Los 14.1 you'll need to do the following in TWRP:
- take a backup of your current system
- do a factory reset to clear the data partition without losing the files stored on internal storage
- flash the OOS zip file
- flash Magisk 18.0 which will root the phone as well as prevent TWRP from being replaced by the stock OOS recovery

Is it just me with this issue? Any known fixes or something? I'm using lineage os version 15.1 with latest update that released today.
i got it too. i always encrypt on lineage OS and omni, today i don't remember what last build i was on but i cleaned my phone and installed latest LOS, after that i can't encrypt my device anymore. even i tried older builds of LOS, NLOS and also OMNI. i can't encrypt my device anymore.
I formatted Data many times and formatted everything but still can't encrypt. anyone can solve this issue?
---------- Post added at 03:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 AM ----------
just figured out the problem, problem was in TWRP 3.2.3-1. please install 3.2.3-0, and problem solved
I also have this issue on 15.1-20190127-NIGHTLY-oneplus3, has anybody got a fix yet?
Here's what I would do in your situation:
0. Take a backup of your current rom and internal storage and save it on your PC.
1. Try a different rom to see if it can encrypt your phone, eg Los 16 beta from https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=285406&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
See: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ageos-16-0-oneplus-3-3t-t3866517/post78144505
If that works, you're done and can restore your backup. If not ...
2. Do a clean install of OOS 5.0.8 full zip from https://www.oneplus.com/support/softwareupgrade
Don't flash Magisk or custom kernel. Let the phone reboot normally. Check that the phone is encrypted.
OOS forces the storage to be encrypted. It will also replace TWRP, but you can flash it (use the version mentioned in the next step) after the phone has booted.
If this doesn't give you an encrypted phone then:
3. !!!This step will complete wipe your data partition (including user storage)!!!
Use this version of TWRP https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603866112 and tap the Format Data button under the Wipe menu. Do not use the Advanced Wipe option.
This should give you a properly formatted data partition with the correct encryption space.
I would flash stock OOS 5.0.8 at this point and boot it to get a properly encrypted phone (I did this when I was testing this version of TWRP and it works).
You can then restore your data backed up in step 0. Also restore TWRP (the version mentioned above) and restore your backed up rom.
For discussion and info on this version of TWRP see https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3742894/post78661632
You could just do steps 0 and 3, but that's a fair bit of time and effort, which is why I suggested steps 1 and 2.

At this stage I trust OOS more than the custom ROMs to correctly encrypt my phone. Once it's encrypted I'm happy to use custom ROMs.
Also, this is my personal view, so others may have different views.
You could, if you wanted, just install a custom rom after formatting the data partition and see if that works.
