[Q] (Q)How to install the official 4.2.2 update with root

Ive downloaded the 4.2.2 official update on my HTC one,When I click install now it goes into TWRP and doesnt allow me to update.
Do I need to flash the custom recovery to update?
and if so will I need to flash TWRP later after upgrading or is there another way?
Can I locate the update file on TWRP and install it ?

i've got the same question but i have cwm, didn't want to start a new thread.

You SHOULD have STOCK recovery in order to flash/install the OTA

Search for the stock recovery, download it, flash it with the phone in fsstboot mode.
fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename
This should be documented in the returning to stock sticky thread. Or one of the other many similar questions here.

you need to find the Stock recovery..... and flash it in fastboot mode....

after you are done with the OTA, .... Unlock the bootloader again, and then whichever recovery you like you can go for it..

Can you link a thread where theres a download link for the stock recovery,I cant find it
I downloaded the file on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38504123
but it has two android recoveries apart from the custom ones

adb sideload(or adb push) a rom back to your device(while youre in recovery) and flash it or flash the factory img.

if you have a custom recovery, you can move files into it from a computer, using the commands of adb push or adb sideload. if you are stock(i dont see how you couldve removed your rom then) you can just flash the factory img. for your own info, google adb sideload or adb push, and youll find instructions.

When I Flash Stock Rom via adb , it shows remote:file size too large, i tried Button Method but its also not working , Any solutions Guys? Please Help me. Now i'm in Lineage OS

may be redownloading the firmware might help

Just download rom directly to phone. Open flash app (TWRP) backup; clean install if different rom

What twrp version do you have?
What adb version do you have.
Older adb version won't support flashing full zips through adb.

U can flash all those through fastboot.
Use this command
fastboot flash partition filename.img
(Remember , filename will always be the nameOFpartition.img)

First make full backup of your device.
Then go to twrp
Wipe>advanced wipe select all partitions and select wipe.

Wiping all partitions can do more harm than good.

For this device unless you make a full wipe you are not able to successfully boot after flashing new images

I think the right command is this:
fastboot flash boot [file name].img

No,
If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest firmware for your device and reflash the boot image.

I could be wrong but it seems like you are trying to flash TWRP to the recovery partition and there's no such thing on this phone. You have to temporarily boot TWRP and the keep following the instructions.

Is anybody able to backup / restore the phone with android one on encrypted file system??, im using the official twrp, but restoring backups just cause bootloops

is it necessary to unlock the bootloader before?

If you're asking if the bootloader needs to be unlocked to install magisk, absolutely!

Sorry for the dumb question but how do you unlock the bootloader on the Fi Android one Version?

If you are still haven't fixed this yet the issue is you need to fastboot boot the boot twrp image and then flash the flash image inside twrp. The guide on TWRP official will give you a guide on how to do this, the files required are also there.

Android Q DP3 NO need to wipe data

I upgraded by TWRP and did not have to wipe data. All information and data was intact. Finding a few bugs though!

You will lose root and TWRP and will not be able to restore them.

I think twrp needs to be flashed right after flashing Rom, than reboot recovery, than flash magisk, wipe dalvik cache, reboot system. In my opinion that should work, also I'm gonna flash Blu_spark twrp, will update once I have tried this, cheers
