This will trip Knox correct?
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
I am also curious will this trip Knox?.. I'm assuming anything involving odin is an automatic yes?.
Yes All Rooting trips knox
Do you need to turn on OEM unlocking?
It failed for me did all the steps.

Been searching all day and found this and am curious if it works on the EPF1 build of the s6. I keep hearing that my bootloader is locked and it will brick my device so just wanted some confirmation that someone has done this with the same phone and build that i have and that it works without messing anything up. thanks in advance

It works, because I was on stock before I rooted. You have to unlock your OEM bootloader using steps 5 and 6 that I mentioned, or you will soft-brick your phone.

Sorry not trying to be annoying i just really dont wanna mess my phone up. Just to be certain my s6 is stock ota 6.0.1 from tmobile with the EPF1 build.

I know for sure it works because I did it the wrong way, and found out the right way. When you Unlock OEM, it unlocks your FRP (Factory Reset Protection). Without that being unlocked, you will be in a bootloop with the Samsung splash screen with the words FRP Locked (or something similar) at the top left hand corner until you flash the stock ROM from Sammobile via Odin.
Without following the steps I prescribed, you will soft-brick your phone, and ultimately, you will lose all data and information saved on your phone anyway. Unlocking it will remove the FRP lock so that when you reboot after rooting with CF-Auto-Root, you can log into your phone as usual (fingerprint, password, PIN, etc.) rather than being met with that Samsung splash screen.

Yes
No, it just installs root.
This does not automatically flash TWRP for you, it's something you have to do yourself.

I know it doesnt automatically flash TWRP i was asking how i would flash twrp afterwards. I guess it would have to be odin since you cant flash it from the phone without a custom recovery. Also, again just trying to clarify, your build number had EPF1 when you did this also?

Go to the TWRP website and find the latest build number, or download the TWRP Manager app on the Play Store and you can download and flash it from there.
Yes, my ROM was STOCK OTA.

I took the 6.0.1 OTA Update. So is this what I need to do?
First, download 6.0.1 from like the site Sammobile and Flash via ODIN and should I check or uncheck Auto reboot?
Than once I flashed than follow all 13 steps given in post #7 of this thread
Once I followed the 13 steps than flash TWRP? Should I flash via ODIN or recovery? If in ODIN should check or unchecked Auto reboot?
Once I got TWRP than install Super SUPER SU from Play Store

Hey, this works! Thank you for writing it up!
Success on a Samsung A6 SM-T280 (version 5.1.1 if memory serves).
Instructions weren't clear enough, got **** stuck in toaster...
Nah jk, it worked man!
EDIT: This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.... I lost root and did a reset and did it all again. This time after I got it rooted, I got rid of the SuperSU and downloaded the one from market. It updated binary easily.

Hi guys, has anyone tried APP2SD after rooting.?
After Step 3 it takes me to a warning screen with two options 1. Vol up to continue 2. Vol down to restart device.
So I go with option 1 but instead of taking me to TWRP it takes me back to download mode and at the top left corner this is what is shown.
ODIN MODE (In Red)
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE (In Blue)
MDM DOWNLOADBLOCK: O (In Red)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-T280
CURRENT BIN: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
FRP LOCK: OFF
USB Init Start!
USB core reset done
I made sure to uncheck auto reboot but couldn't find anything about TWRP not being overridden so maybe that's the problem, what am I doing wrong?
Can someone do a video tutorial about this root?

i advise you to search youtube on how to use adb. This is how i learned. Its too complicated to write it. But when you see video its easy. In simplest way adb is cmd opened in adb file. Than in cmd you write commands like adb flash, or adb format and stuff

That is the old method and no longer relevant.
Just follow the steps in the OP below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3475381
Hi friends today I am going to tell you how to root k4 note which have Android 6.0 (M.M).
Many members have already given this process but in some place the needed files are missing and some other place the process is not explained clearly. So to slove this I have made all in one file and given the process as simple as possible by me.
This process have worked very fine for me. Rooted 8 k4 notes without any problem.
Read all and follow. And do it on your own risk. I am not responsible if anything go wrong.
First of all I would like to introduce myself ( I know it's not necessary but to some of them to believe my work )
Myself is Kaushik. I have been using XDA since 2 years but never opened an account and replied in posts. Now after learning a lot I thought I should also start replying. May be I am a junior member here but not truly a junior member.
I have flashed more then 250 mobile of all brands. And thanks to XDA my success rate is 99.7 %
Thanks to XDA to making me local gadget guru. Now here every one believe that if even service center also fail to slove some software problems but at last kaushik will surly pass.
OK now let's see how to root.
(This will void your warranty)
(Phone will factory reset, which means all of the apps and data will be gone, not the internal sd)
(To root Lenovo K4 note you need to first unlock the bootloader. See below to know how to do it )
1. First download the two files from the links I have given.
All files needed to install twrp and root are in one zip file. Link is below.
https://mega.nz/#!D8MAwSzK!BYSzl4FGE_dbLy5wwzS0lbwSSNbelB7eMmfwdQjDoos
Usb ADB drivers for k4 note. Link below.
https://mega.nz/#!281yHDoI!iuIynHRqf8ui7IffStBhwrJvHJ4NBn1eExy_MYpr13o
Now to unlock bootloader.
2. Now in your mobile go to 'Settings' / 'About Device' / press 7 times on built number to unlock Developer options.
3. Now go to Developer options and click on 'OEM Unlocking' and press enable.
4. Next enable the USB debugging.
Your bootloader is now unlocked.
Now in PC extract the downloaded files
5. Install lenovo adb drivers ( it is in the link I have provided ) on your pc
6. Go to adb folder and press and hold shiftkey and right click with mouse. Select open command from here.
7. type adb reboot bootloader You need to authorize the pc if not done already. (The phone will boot onto fastboot, you can see small fastboot written on the left corner of the screen once the phone boots)
8. Now open adb folder and open 'unlock_bootloder'. A message will be displayed in mobile to press volume up key to continue. Press volume up key. A message in pc cmd will display as press any key to continue. Now press any key.
9. Now in cmd type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
A message will be displayed as done.
Next part is very important
10. After its done press volume up and down button together with power button. Once you see the lenovo white screen, release the power button, release the volume keys once the screen goes black, wait for few minutes till you boot into the new custom recovery.
To avoid black screen set brightness below 30 in twrp settings. ( Not so important if don't understand how to do it )
11. Now the recovery allow modifications by just swiping and the goto mount and tick system and go back
12. Now go to advance, then file manager, then system, and delete the file named, recovery from boot.p ( if you are facing problem plz see point 14. )
13. After done do back and flash supersu.zip. (it is in the link which I have provided)
Now you phone is rooted and the supersu app will appear in the app drawer.
14. If you are facing problem with file manager flash aroma file manager ( it is in the link ). It will open in twrp. Now go to system and delete recovery from boot.p.
If you do not delete the said file again stock recovery will be replaced. If it happens so again you must repeat the steps from step 1.
Next to install xposed after boot up install xposed.apk (app is in the link)
Next flash xposed zip file. (Zip in the link )
Please don't forget to hit thanks if it helped you.
It will make me post more and help others.
Thanks
Regards
Kaushik.

HELP ! Fastboot doesn't recognize my device
s230 update brought a lot of issues thus I downgraded to s218 & now on s219. I am able to get adb to recognize my device but not fastboot. Therefore I am unable to unlock bootloader!
When I type in " adb reboot bootloader" or click on the "unlock_recovery.bat" file provided, I get booted into a dark screen where "fastboot" is written at the bottom left & the command prompt window says < waiting for device> & I am stuck there until I reboot my phone.

Hello guys,
Today I spent some hours trying to root & recovery a J3 2016 (J320M) and the process is pretty much the same as on almost all Samsung's smartphone, but the files from others threads did not worked.
Disclaimer: you flash these at your own risk. Knox counter will be tripped. Having the stock firmware to hand is also advised.
I advice that if you try to push the recovery.img from others releases (J320FN and else), may result a boot loop. (Like my first try).
HOW TO SOLVE THE LOOP:
- Run or Install SamFirm software;
- Write the model number and set the region. (You will need to google a little to find out what's the name of yours, mine is ZTO -> Brazil).
- You can fill all the boxes or can check "Auto" to skip it. ("auto" always worked to me).
- And than, click on "Check Update".
***Your mobile don't need to be plugged to do the research.
- If the software find a firmware, UNcheck the option "Check CRC32".
- Download and Decrypt throught the software.
- Using any version of Odin v3.09 or higher, connect the device on Download mode and select the firmware on "AP" slot and hit the start.
BEFORE MAKING MODIFICATIONS, IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK AND USB DEBUGGING FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.
To install TWRP:
Boot to DOWNLOAD mode.
Flash with ODIN in the AP slot.
Uncheck Auto reboot.
Load the respective file below into the AP slot and hit start.
After flashing when ODIN says PASS immediately reboot to recovery by holding POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN or remove the USB cable and the battery for few seconds before the key combination.
As soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons.
You should now see TWRP recovery not in english.
* To change the language, select the right button and swipe left after the selection. :good:
***IF YOU ALLOW THE TWRP TO AUTO INSTALL THE SU, YOU MAY GET THE BOOT LOOP TOO.
Install the SU application:
Copy to the root of any microsd the file BETA-SuperSU..... below;
Inside the TWRP you have to select the option "Install" and choose the right file.
It's done!
I'M NOT THE OWNER OR CREATOR OF ANY FILE SHARED HERE, I'M ONLY SHARING WITH THE COMMUNITY.
Thanks too much! working Fine!
its nice to see download links without Adds. Really appreciate it!
works amazing! thank you so much!

Hey Guys In this guide I'll tell you how to root our device, you don't have to have high knowledge in modding or anything its very simple but first we're gonna need to download a few things. We won't be flashing TWRP as the source code isn't yet released for our Device. But this is possible because of Magisk Canary
(Disclaimer : I am not RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS, but I'm here to help)
Take a backup as all of your data might be deleted even from the internal storage
Ok so you'll need a PC and now we have to unlock our Bootloader
1. Goto Settings and unlock Developer Options and Enable USB debugging and OEM unlock, Then turn off your Phone
2.Press the Power Key + Volume UP key till you see the bootlogo
3.Let go of the Power Key but keep holding the Volume up Key till you boot into recovery
4. Using Volume Buttons navigate to Reboot to Bootloader mode and Press the Power Key to select
5.After Rebooting to Download Mode, press the Power Key and keep Holding it
6.When it asks for confirmation on whether you want to unlock your bootloader press Volume up key to Confirm
And we're done unlocking the bootloader Now we have to again boot into Download mode so follow the above steps and put your phone into Bootloader mode
There are two methods if [Method 1] doesn't work you can try [Method 2]
[Method 1]
{Requirements}
Odin3 (I'm using v3.13) https://odindownload.com/
Boot.img (tar file) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MdN4fP0ULaWSWjaKN_qaWfV-56ktKrZn
Samsung USB drivers https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
{HOW-TO}
Now that you have unlocked you're Bootloader
1.Install Samsung USB drivers then launch Odin3
2.Click on AP and select the Downloaded boot.tar file and connect your phone to PC and click on start.
3.It should reboot after the flashing process is complete
4.After your Phone boots up just install MagiskAPK and it will ask you to install additional add-ons and take a while but after the process it completed it will reboot.
5. That's it enjoy our Phone's Successfully Rooted:laugh:
But if you run into some problems Go-TO the [Method 2]
[Method 2 coming soon]
If you guys have any questions feel free to PM me or reply to this post
Hello,
I'm a newbie and I'd thank you for your efforts to explain us more about howto root our M10s, just i want to know what's your experience with Magisk? is it free and give us all features to our phone?
I have been using TWRP for my last mobile S3, so what's the difference?
Thank you

Click to collapse
You can definitely make your phone run smoother and increase performance and battery life and all that and most importantly substratum theme engine now see that is why I mainly rooted. And like Closed Framework, Magisk has its own modules that you can install systemlessly
method 2 please
Patched magisk
Please do reupload the patched file..
Cuz it says "The file has been thrased into bin by owner"
