This has been frustrating me for months!! It should be simple but it seems I run into the same problem every time I try a new ROM. There is a digital clock on the screen but without weather. So I, remove that widget and select one that does have weather. It installs and takes me to the "settings" for the widget. I choose the setting for the "clock" and then open the settings for weather. It says there is no weather service provider so I click the add one and choose the first one in the list which is Yahoo. It install fine and now says the weather provider is Yahoo. So I click "done" and for a brief second the correct widget appears on the desktop but immediately disappears to be replace by the original widget without the weather. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????

Hello,
I am enjoying the Hero builds but I have a "request" at anybody who can help me/us:
I would like to use the HTC weather widget but it does not seem to update for about 4 hours or more.
It would be great when it would update hourly so I would not have to start the weather app which always delays the loading of the home screen so I have a lag about 10 or more second ...
Is it possible to change the update frequency somewhere in the app?
Do you know why there is always the com.htc.dcs.impl & com.htc.dcs.stock running when using the weather widget?
Would be really great if you could help me with this update thing, thank you.
Why dont you just update it manually? I think on the bottom of the weather widget if you click on the little bar it should update. I cant be 100% sure on this cause I'm on cyan 3.6.5. Please someone with hero correct me if im wrong.
neone notice tht the flip clock widget is only slow when weather is enabled..so when u install hero n u got no wifi its without weather so its fast....neone know how to make it flip clock w/o weather ?

Yes, you are right when you use the biggest widget which needs a full homescreen.
But when you use the two smaller widgets (I have it on to left at my main homescreen) there is no button for update - so the only possibility is to change the config somewhere I think?
Has really no one any idea?

I believe the only to have the flip clock with out weather is to not have the weather set up for your location. Correct me if I am wrong. I have seen the clock without weather after using the hero roms and was puzzled because I had no weather. I set it up and it appeared. The opposite thing should work for you.

i think the only way to get the flip clock without weather is to not have your clock set up
let me elaborate
when u select the clock app you have cities set up right?
like i have atlanta on there
and then u also have the timzone clock and the extra clock i always have that shows up which is gay but w/e back on topic
when u select the flip clock from htc widget screen it asks u to select a city
if u select current city (not an actual city name) the weather wont show up on the clock
thats the only way i can get the clock without weather
hope it helps :-D
JUST install the weather widget from the market it contains the clock from hero and the weather...works on the Cynaogen build...1.49 from market but works good...

yes, but I know how the weather is at my current location - also it does not update automatically ...
if you want a flip clock without weather, try retro date (and clock) from market

Maybe it works like the flip clock/ weather widget. When I wanted to change the frequency (update interval) the only way I could find was to drag the widget to the trash bin and then re-launch it from the home screen (like most widgets) then it asks for location and update frequency like a fresh install.

hmm - the HTC Weather or flip clock widget does not ask for the frequency ... I think it must be in the file / apk - but where & how?
I'm looking for a flipclock without weather on it as well....
Solved the update frequency issue if you're still wondering about it.

Htc Flip clock
I'm Running the largest flip clock with weather on latest cm build with no issues make sure you have it exluded form any task managers
On the main Clock with the Weather under it, is there a way to stop it from trying to sync/update the weather everytime you unlock the phone?
I can't find a setting for this anywhere, I like having the weather and clock there, but it needs to stop killing performance when it doesn't need to check weather but every hour or so.
Click on the weather/clock and hit menu and go to settings. You can turn off automatic update.
That only seems to turn it off on the weather application- not the clock.
Well, as the title says, after downloading the app I get an error that it can't launch, it also doesn't appear in the app tray. Maybe it's not meant to launch because it's an addon, but I don't see any extra options in the weather widget app. Any help?
u dont launch it. it replaces the standard forecast when you click on the weather widget. so to "launch" u have to have the weather widget first on your homescreen. you are suppose to download and install the addon through the weather widget settings page. also u have to be running the donate full version.
I have started using the LG Stock Weather & Clock widget on my Optimus 2x.
I am finding that when I go to a different geographical location and refresh/update the weather it does not change to the location I am at, instead it just stays as the location I entered when I added the widget to the home screen.
Does anyone have the same issue?
It's not an issue, but a feature! This widget does not auto-update the location as you may be used to from Beautiful Widgets. It also has no auto-refresh schedule. I have seen it auto-update the weather conditions at regular intervals, though. But not sure what it's schedule is.
That's a shame it doesn't update the location. Hopefully they add the option in 2.3, might have to move to Go Weather instead.
When I picked up my S6E, I really liked the stock Weather widget that's part of TouchWiz. I always find myself back using Apex Launcher and my S6E is no exception. I've installed it and set it up just the way I like it and the one disappointment I have is the stock weather widget isn't available
When accessing widgets from the app drawer it doesn't even show. Long pressing on the home screen, and selecting widgets that way shows the "weather" widget as a 4 x 2 widget but regardless of where I try to put it - even on a clean screen gives me a "not enough space to place . . . " error. It's really a 4 x 1 widget.
I know there are options like Zooper widgets that have addons with a similar look but none has access to the built in Accuweather app.
Anybody figure out how to use the stock weather widget with Apex or any other non-TouchWiz launcher?
This would be awesome! !

I've tried to get it to work on both the GS3, GS4, GS4, Note 3, etc ... and nothing works...so definitely not a new problem! I was able to tear it apart enough on the GS3 to get it to show on Apex launcher ... but it wouldn't update, show location, or work when you clicked on it.
As to this point, I haven't found a widget I like more than the stock TW one. Beautiful Widgets used to have some nice looking ones, but honestly it's been about 3 years since I've even looked at the app so I wouldn't know what they've got these days.

Here's my solution, adapted from the discussion HERE. I use Zooper Widget Pro and the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme. It's by far the most spot-on widget compared to the actual stock version. In fact, from the stock clock and weather on the lock screen, you really can't tell the difference between it and the Zooper widget version.
1. Install Zooper Widget Pro
2. Install the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme
3. Install Desktop VisualizeR
4. Create a 4 x 1, 4 x 2, etc. Zooper Widget and select the S6 Widgets Theme. The widget option that looks exactly like the stock version is the one with a "45" in the title (the angle of the shadow)
Land it on the desktop one row below where you actually want to place it.
5, Long-press the home screen and select Applications - Clock ---> do this twice
6. Open Desktop VisualizeR and create a shortcut the following way: select a transparent image (attached below) as the shortcut Image. Click Select Action - Others - Activities - Weather - Weather. Title the shortcut "Weather". Select Apex Launcher as the target launcher ---> do this twice.
7. Now, long press on the 4 shortcut icons, one at a time and choose edit. Change the clock icons to the same transparent alpha you used for the Desktop VisualizeR shortcuts and delete the shortcut names. For the weather shortcuts, just edit and delete the names.
8. You're now left with for transparent shortcuts.
9. Long press the clock widget and select Resize. Using the nodes on the widget, move the top up and then the bottom.
You're left with the Zooper Widget with transparent shortcuts overlaid that open the clock and the stock weather app. There's a few shortcuts you can do like set the default click-on action in the widget settings to open the clock which will eliminate the need to add those two shortcuts but this way gives you a little more flexibility like assigning different actions to the hour and minute location.
Only very slight annoyance is that the widget uses open weather as the provider which sometimes slightly mismatches with accuweather re: location name and temperature.
Worked very well Jeff. Love it thanks.
