I also have a (1) dead pixel
yeah I have a "dead" pixel since I upgraded to duttys 1.6 rom. Is it on the top of the screen in the middle?
*update
Ok just tried to use the pixel fix from the psp and the "dead" pixel is still there
ok this is weird, I watched a video or when rebooting with usually videos the pixel that is gone funny is fine. Its only on the main screen it shows up. I used the diamond demo video which has a black background and the pixel is working fine?!?!?! Why is it only a problem with the main screen top bar????
tried different black theme and still there

I too used Dutty's 1.6 and have a missing Pixel right in the middle at the top of the screen but I wouldn't call it a dead pixal as it's only while the task bar is there. If you watch a vid, view a pic, full screen browsing etc the pixel functions fine.

hi viinholland,
where your dead pixel located?
is it dead? or it lights up but won't change color that makes it visible?
hi kidd78,
like Trem said, it's pretty much safe
i too experienced the same thing, i forget what application i was running, but when it shuts, it's gone, hence i don't use the application anymore but i truly forget what it was
darn, my stuck pixel is still there......
i wonder if anyone else got the same dead or stuck pixels on their diamonds....
By the way Gsen puts a blank pixel on your top bar.
You can deselect this on the Gsen config!
If thats your "dead pixel" then ill LoL at you guys!
Maybe you all have the new GSENS 1.7 installed? It places one white pixel at y=0 and x=240 so right in the top middle to indicate that it is running?!

Opps didnt know that thanks for the correction. Sorted it now.
I went through update instead of finding it on the forums. feel shamed such a newbie should of searched first.
yah i am aware of that, gsen gives a look of Hot Pixel rite in the middle on top, but what i got is a hot pixel, or rather stuck, which i don't know, far left of the screen
i wonder how many diamond got the same fate as mine
I got one but it isnt related to Gsen at all because I don't use it. Plus, when I boot up the phone I can see the dead/stuck pixel. Does anyone have a stuck pixel remover program they could share?
here try the psp pixel fix video. All you have to do is play it on full screen think best to leave it for 20-30 secs.
It may fix your problem it may not

here's a little application, to test your LCD
carry this along with anything which is transferrable to other device, to test before you buy, i should have used it, but sometimes i was too lazy, but i make sure i won't next time
Here is a pic of my screen. Definitely not a dead pixel, maybe a stuck one? burn in? Any ideas? The yellow spots on the bottom center and left. They are not visible on dark backgrounds.

Any degauss-like programs to refresh the screen?
they are not visible on dark? what do you mean? what makes them most visible?
usually a hot pixel is easily seen on dark background, whereas a dead pixel is on the white or bright background, which are yours?

Look at the pic, his almost looks like it has a burn effect... Not an individual pixel, almost like a section of them are tainted.
Don't push too hard on the touch screen? :-\ Idk, best of luck in fixing it.

They are more like smudges with no clear beginning or end. On white backgrounds they are yellowish (like in the above pic - full screen only- very bottom)
On grey backgrounds (for ex. start up screen) they are white. On a black screen they are not even noticeable. On colors, barely
And as for pushing hard, I didn't even get the chance as it was like that out of the box

It's not dead pixel but a screen failure.
You sure you have no bubbles of air under your screenprotector or have original screenprotector still on it?
from the problem reported, seems as if i am the unlucky one with defective pixel on my screen......
darn, should have brought the pocketlcd tester with me and test it on the spot, but weird is the shop claims each of every diamond got the same pixel problem, is it really that bad?
So after this much anticipated Oreo release, my display has been left faded looking. It's as though you have the brightness turned all the way up which washes out the color, but even when it's turned down. It's rather frustrating & sRGB is not ticked. Please tell me this isn't the new display & what I could possibly do to change it.
Edit: Also just realized when I change my screen mode in display settings, nothing happens. I can even turn the red, green and blue all the way down with no effect. Anyone else experiencing this issue with Oreo?
Have to say no, that has not happened for me. Display looks the same and changing display settings changes the screen for me. Perhaps a reboot might help...
Do a Full reset, sounds like the ota bugged your settings out.
I've been on Oreo since the release and haven't had any issues with screen color or resolution.
Did you proceed to do the above posted steps? I myself would also say to factory reset the system.
If so, would you mind letting us know how it went and if it fixed the issue at hand.
The only place I've noticed something like this, is when using Google Maps through Android Auto, with my Vehicles display. I get the faded or Ghosting on the display. If I change from maps, to phone and back to maps it's fine again. But it's only temporary. This all started after I got the Oreo update. I'm still actively troubleshooting to find out if the cable is the problem or if it's related to the phone.
after 2 resets im good. started device as new and bo restoration of apps/go from there
Hello buds,
I'm experiencing weird glitch on my K20 Pro (Chinese version). I have my phone for a while now, and I never noticed this thing. I'm not sure if it came with latest EU update (9.8.22), or not. I would like to know, if someone is experiencing similar thing.
But to the point...
When u re waking up the device, for a second ur lock screen is changing from blur to focused. The issue I'm about to talk happens, when I'm using my fingerprint, before wallpaper becomes focused.
The strange glitch will be visible in the video. At the beginning I was afraid that it's some kind or screen artefact, but with every application left opened (before locking screen) it is different. It looks like parts of apps re strangely stretched. When I tried to turn off all animations (also on video) the problem stopped, but then it came back in completely diffirent place. Literally for a millisecond, when I'm about to pull down a status bar.
It is not something really important, because I can bypass it by waiting till lock screen is focused, or by unlocking via fingerprint on off screen. Still, I'm a bit worried, so any answers will be appreciated

Okay, now that I got your attention, this is a SERIOUS issue. You may not even realise it, but if you’re not using MIUI, you pretty much have a Screen Burn In / Image Retention problem on your RN 8’s display. It’s temporary though, and goes away after a while. You can see for yourself, but I’ll come to that, and also to why it doesn’t really happen in MIUI. Also, the RN 8 isn’t the only device affected!
The issue:
This never happened over the 5 months I’ve used MIUI. It’s been a month since I flashed Pixel Experience Q, and I’ve noticed when opening Reddit, in its dark grey splash screen, I could see my notification bar and some app’s hamburger menu faintly. It started bothering me, and I started researching. How can I get burn in on a new device!? And heck, it’s an LCD. Turns out I’m not the only one. A quick Google search on “Redmi Note 8 Screen Burn In” gives you tons on people complaining, even here on XDA. Many think it’s a hardware issue, and replaced their display and still faced it!
See for yourself:
Open this dark grey picture linked below in full screen in your gallery. You may notice the notification bar burnt in. For a better example, exit your gallery with that picture open, set brightness to 100% and screen timeout to 2 mins, light mode, and just open settings and leave it alone. After almost 2 mins, quickly go back to your gallery with the picture open. You’ll see settings lightly imprinted into your screen!
Here’s the dark grey picture:

Here’s how it looks (sorry for the crappy quality!):

Solution:
Turns out that the Tianma LCD display panel found in most Xiaomi devices, like the RN 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, Mi 5 etc have to have a specific colour calibration. You need to set the Red, Green & Blue values to 90% in your ROM’s colour calibration. Take a look at these:

Here’s how colour calibration should look, I stole this image from somewhere

MIUI already has the right calibration by default.
But here comes the biggest problem for some of us. Pixel Experience Q, the most popular Custom ROM for RN 8, doesn’t have this option. I tried Franko Kernel Manager with the stock Kernel and Genom kernel, and the display RGB values make no effect. So as of now, I’m stuck with this. Any tips? ROM’s like Havoc should have it though. So dev’s, please set this as the default colour calibration value!
I hope this helped, I put 2 hours of effort into it haha.
On another note, I hope y’all are staying safe from this epidemic!
bro i have it in miui .. its hardware not soft .. i noticed it in different xiaomi devices like note 8 - note 7 - and sure poco f1 .. then noticed it in realme 5 pro .. not found in my very old samsung grand prime / though companies nowadays go to those low end panels .. all of them
I have the same issue on MIUI (stock rom) too.
I did the exact same steps you described and I got the burn in. Well it is not much, I could see it only on full brightness though. Not much of an issue for me on such a budget phone tbh.
Changing the color calibration for all colors to 90% might help to reduce this burn-in, speaking of custom roms to include this as a default setting.
But it won't help with this cheap panel, which is ineed a hardware issue anyway.
Setting all 3 colours to 90 % just reduces overall brightness nothing else.
Thank you! Display colors can be changed on crDroid 6.4
https://t.me/InceptionNote8/66967
this works well for me, use franco kernel manager
It is not the rom issue
I'm seeing this issue in stock rom and i never changed roms till now. It is bcoz of poor quality display panel. Get it replaced ASAP before warranty runs out
I dont know if this is universal but setting the colour tone to cool fixes the issue completely in my redmi note 8
just change the color calibration to this and voila, u never experience burn in screen anymore. i changed it couple weeks ago and no burn in AT ALLL untill this day!

I own a MI A1 it's 2 years, 9 months, 2 weeks, 3 days Old and has screen burns in.
not unlocked bootloader.
no twrp,custom roms,rooting.
but being a budget device (having eMMc type of storage) i have no regrets it performs very well against phones of Exynos 9609(UFS2.0), SDM665 (UFS2.1).
Comming to the topic "screen burns" will go away on its own not a matter of Great concern, leave it like that only it will automaticly go away its not Permanent .......... :fingers-crossed:
Hello, I've had my Redmi K20 pro phone for almost a year and I'm running on Resurrection Remix for like something like 9 months.
Recently I've had screen flickering greenish or pinkish colors when things like a messenger bubble pops up, when I use the fingerprint to unlock, sometime just like that when I'm using it. I haven't installed anything recently other then games from the play store.
To me it would seem like the screen is starting to die, but I've only had it for a year so it seems a bit early for that. Anyone else has this problem or knows a solution? Will I need to replace the screen?
Thanks!
