OP3t - Can't enter TWRP, OOS is working! - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi, i unlocked bootloader, rooted, changed fonts, but stayed on OOS 4.0.3, no issues.
Somehow i used freedom App, it had write permission issue, i installed root explorer and change apps permissions. Then i tried to data format phone to bring it back to normal
Now issue is, OOS 4.0.3 is working i can boot into it and use phone.
But when i enter TWRP by any means it stays stuck at logo. I long press power button to boot back into OOS.
Now i can't do anything, i mean no future updates? or i can't even factory data reset?
I tried to reflash same TWRP 3.0.4.1 again and again in fastboot? still stuck at logo.
Thanks for help in advance.

Have you even searched this issue.
It's been asked and answered hundreds of times.
Even if you have googled it you would have got your answer
Next time before posting plz search your issue.
To answer the question OOS uses f2fs system and twrp takes a while to boot on f2fs system so when you see twrp logo just wait for 3 to 5 minutes (sometimes can take 10 minutes)

Thanks dude, but i searched half an hour and i could not find specific thread telling this issue. Even though its not same for everyone.
first time i had to wait for 5 minutes. even my phone is empty, i flashed stock recovery, locked bootlader, side loaded 4.0.3. again unlocked, flashed TWRP 3.0.4.1. But now when i try to enter it after wait of 20 minutes as well, it dont let me in. So i cant root again and i root for just to change fonts.
When i try to format user data when i was able to enter previously it says mount error and error 255 cannot format.
in fastboot format user data, it says it is not allowed.
how can i fix this ?

[Q] Nexus 6 not booting up after random shut down

Good evening, everyone.
Few hours ago, my N6 randomly shut down and not booting up to the system. I tried to re-install the factory image for 5.0.1 but I got stuck at bootloader screen. I tried every options available from bootloader screen(Start, Recovery mode, Restart bootloader etc.) but it performed nothing but coming back to the bootloader screen. When I tried to use 'Nexus Root Toolkit' to install new system and whenever the process was trying to initiate the process, it is giving me same error message 'FAILED <remote failure>'
What can I do from here?
I appreciate your attention.

If your bootloader is unlocked, you should be able to either flash the stock factory image, or re-flash each partition separately through the tool-kit. Since you're getting remote errors with the toolkit, double check that you have the right drivers installed, the tookit and a search on the forum should help with that.
did you already try :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Don't want to raise any alarms already but I shut mine down on Sunday night (Unlocked/ Rooted/ custom kernel & rom) in order to boot in Recovery and flash a new kernel version and:
1) The sdcard looked empty, it read ~ 26 GB free (I had no more than 20 gb free before reboot) and no folders whatsoever.
2) The phone was stuck at the Google logo heating up but going nowhere.
As I said don't want to start assuming things but the phone randomly going "nuts" and losing all data is scary... I had to spent my entire day yesterday flashing stock 5.0.1 back and re-setting up everything. I followed the guide posted above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008 oh, go with Method 2 and it will work fine).
Out of curiosity how does your SD look like from recovery? Oh, but then you say you can't even boot to Recovery. Which recovery do you have? (I had/have TWRP 2.8.3.1 ). Anyway to repair it you only need to be able to boot into Bootloader properly I guess.

[Q] Sprint HTC One M8

Hey guys, Im fairly new to this stuff, but I got a question or two, it may take me a day to reply so i'll try to put as much info as posible.
Now recently I received the OTA 4.20 (Lolipop) on my phone, so I flashed my stock recovery to download the OTA, making me reroot my phone.
So my phone is re-rooted (after 2 tries) but now it seems like I cant write to my SD card, so I got fed up and went into TWRP recovery and selected wipe data and restore. (Restore point was before I got lolipop) I try to reboot but it takes me as far as HTC One screen. Next I go to recovery and try a factory reset, says its successful, but it lied to me! Still stuck at HTC One screen. So I flash back to stock recovery to try the factory reset with that, it went for a moment, then tried to boot, getting stuck at HTC one screen again, so once more, I flash TWRP to my phone in attempt to get the recovery back, but now I can't load recovery, or boot. So Im stuck there. Is there any advice to what to do from here? I tried command 'fastboot erase cache' thinking that would do something and reflashing the recovery.img but it's still not working. I hope someone can help me.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
Stand by
Good luck
The reason you can't write to your SD card isn't because of lollipop, that was actually added but on kit Kat, but the devs went and added a line of code to a file to allow it again. I am currently running my stock rooted, built from decrypted ruu, originally I wasn't able to but I added that one line of code. I believe all you have to do is flash a stock rooted and SD card write should be enabled. As for not being able to get into recovery or boot at all, boot to bootloader and ruu then flash twrp.
Ok so correct me if im doing something wrong, but I flashed the stock recovery in attempt to factory reset it, it wont work, so I flash TWRP with command line (Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img) And it's 'successful' but it wont load, it will attempt to load but one second in and it goes back to fastboot, how to I move forward from here?
Edit: so idiot me did it again, I was trying to install M7 version into a m8. Resolved, Now I can enter recovery again.
Alright, so now my only problem is now that it wont boot normally, it freezes at HTC one screen. I have access to TWRP recovery, just not sure what to do next from here.

I actually just unlocked my bootloader yesterday, installed TWRP today, and had what I thought was the same. The thing is, let it sit. Mine sat at the HTC ONE screen for what seemed to be between 5 and 10 minutes. I read that it happens in one of these threads.
But I let it sit and it eventually went to "Android is Upgrading" and was loading the apps.

Ok thanks, I'll post back in 20 minutes with an update.
So i've waited about 20 minutes on the HTC one screen, (Still on it as I post this) It is still stuck on it. I dont know if this helps but im able to view my internal and external card via computer cable, but I only see folders, no files of any kind in any of them..
Edit* I WAS able to read it, now I can't.
I GOT IT! I was able to revert to a backup I made. Even though I gotta flash stock again for OTA but F it! I got it working again. Thanks for all your help!

[Solved] What can I do after i stopped a Rooting Guide halfway?

Hello,
I hope I'm in the right section here, and if not, please move this thread, thank you very much.
After unlocking the bootloader on my new OnePlus 3t with Android 7.0, I tried to flash twrp-3.0.3-1-beta1-oneplus3t.img using a guide which I apparantly can't post here. I hope I can put the link in a comment if you ask for it.
However, after I typed in the second of the two commands: fastboot boot recovery.img, the TWRP logo appeared on my phone for several minutes. Maybe I was too unpatient but because I was worried, I pressed and held the power button and the volume up button, so my phone would boot up normally.
So to sum it up, the steps I did were:
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. After changing all the settings (OEM, USB-debugging and so on), I booted my phone into fastboot mode
3. Then in adb I typed in: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img while recovery.img is the same file I've mentioned earlier.
4. After that, I typed in the second command: fastboot boot recovery.img
5. Finally, my problem happened. Or was I waiting not long enough? I haven't measured the time obviously, but I've waited a few minutes. So the only thing my screen was showing was the TWRP logo.
Then I've pressed the button combination and my phone booted up normally.
Now, I don't know how to proceed, as I still want to root my device. I'm not sure if the steps I've done until now worked so that I can just move on by flashing SuperSU, or if I have to reverse the steps and just wait a little bit longer. I don't want to do this until you guys tell me to do, because I'm not sure if flashing something twice might break my device.
If my post was unclear or information were missing, please just ask and I'll answer. Thanks a lot for any help!
Hi !
Booting into TWRP after flashing it takes a long time , something like 2 minutes maximum due to encryption , known bug long story , Oneplus must release sources ect ...
Put the supersu 2.79 stable version into your phone and flash it via recovery or , from recovery / sideload type " adb sideload supersu.zip(exact name of the zip) and reboot , you should have root access
This long boot time only happens if you have your data partition formatted as F2FS instead of EXT4, and takes longer depending on how much data you have filled up your data/internal storage partitions with. If you backup everything on PC and then reformat using EXT4 TWRP boots up without delays.
Thank you both guys,
I've made it. It was just my fault because I wasn't waiting long enough. When I redid the step, it was working and booting up even faster. If a mod can close this thread, feel free to do so.
Good! No need to close the thread but I would ask you to edit the title and add [solved] at the beginning of it for others to find it easier, thanks!

Soft Brick / Hard Brick ? Help...

Hi, well it looks like i have probably hard bricked my phone. After updating to nougat i decided to do afresh clean install. I wanted my phone to as if i had just bought it and came with nougat/emui 5 installed. So i did a factory reset from within the settings menu. But then i thought i would completely erase everything and start from the latest build before nougat, so emui 4.1.2/ marshmallow. So after wiping all the partitions in twrp and then doing a volume up + power to do complete factory wipe followed by using the three button method to install the B130 UPDATE.APP in dload folder on my sdcard, all worked as expected. The update completed at 100% and then rebooted. So there i am waiting for my phone to boot to start the setup process as i have done dozens of times before...BUT...my phone will not boot to the initial setup wizard. It just stays stuck on the Honor logo pulsing animation for ever and ever and ever!!!!!!
So i do the volume up + power button to get to stock recovery and do factory wipe and cache wipe as well. It works as expected so i reboot and once again use the 3 button method to install the update.app on my sdcard. That works as expected and at 100% says its succeeded and reboots. Once again i wait for it to boot to the initial setup wizard but....ALAS...it stays on that DAMN pulsing Honor logo. Ive tried rebooting it several times, redoing the factory wipe and install several times, but nothing. Ive gone into fastboot mode (volume down + power) to try and flash the boot.img and system.img ive extracted from update.app but get the error message -- remote: command failed -- and the same if i try to unlock bootloader. Obviously its not going to work because my bootloader isnt unlocked and nor can i got in to developer settings to enable oem unlock and turn USB debugging on because my phone wont boot past that bloody honor logo.
The only thing i havent done yet is to use eRecovery but i dont have broadband and i doesnt seem to work over public wifi! So i will go to my friends tomorrow and use their broadband and hopefullly eRecovery will download/restore the latest firmware. The only other thing i can think of is to download the original nem-l51c432B102 that came with my phone when bought, extract the update.app file and replace the B130 i have on my sdcard dload folder at present.
Sorry for such a long post but i wanted to expalin evrything in detail to hopefully resolve my problem without going backwards and forwards with questions and answers and taking for ever.
So ANYONE and EVERYONE who managed to read the whole post, if you have even the slightest idea of how to get my phone working, please oh please share it with me. Also my phone is still under warranty so if i needed to send it to a huawei centre to get it fixed would they do it and do it for free??? because eseentialy all i did was a factory wipe/reset and install a frmware and it goes KAPUT!! thats not my fault right????!!???
Thank you to one and all for any wisdom you can share. :crying::crying:

Can you please edit your post ? Add some space, here and there if you want some help... It is nothing but pain for both eyes and mind to read you.
Onto related topic, did you manage to get your phone back to a functionnal state ? Note that the boot sequence can take time after a wipe so maybe it's not broken at all.
As for eRecovery, it never helped me to restore my device, tried on two different Wi-Fi networks after two completely unrelated issues.
Concerning warranty, I guess it depends on your country and where you bought your phone. I went to the carrier which provided me mine this morning since I ended up with a strong brick last night and I'll get a new phone in a couple of weeks.

finally a reply! okay so ill edit my post once ive finished replying to you. First off thanks for taking your time to read my post, i am most greatfull. In response to your questions, suggestions i can tell you:
i went to my friends, connected to their broadband and attempted to use eRecovey to update/restore my device. ALAS it did not work! I tried several times and it gets to downloading package from server only to end in a FAIL.. I got home tried connecting to public wifi and doing eRecovery but it just fails. So like you I have never managed to get eRecovery to work.
As for the booting sequence, as i explained before, whether i access stock recovery and wipe cache and wipe phone it does this no problem, reboots, only to get stuck on the honor logo boot animation. The same goes for installing updatte.app with three button method. it says its installed succesfully but does not get past the honor logo boot animation. Unfortunately your suggestion that it might just take a long time to boot is not the case I have left it for hours you see and it never gets to the setup wizard :crying:
As for warranty, i am in uk, bought the phone via amazon, and it was unlocked, so not from a carrier like you. So i guess ill just have to find my nearest huawei service centre and have them look at it.
Does anyone know the procedure as far as doing this. Do i phone them or email my problem and then send my phone to them or what?? Any help is very welcome.
Thanks for your time and patience.
Please, please help...i'm desperate
So sorry for my original long post people, i simply wanted to give as much detail and info as possible because being vague doesnt help anyone. It seems that might have worked against me.
Please, please any suggestions would be appreciated to the N'th degree! I have tried everything i can think of and i am truly desperate now. I dont understand why i cant get it to work...
I can go into stock recovery and wipe the cach and do factory reset and that works fine, no errors.
I can hold the 3 buttons down to install the firmware package(ive got update.app from B130 build) and that works fine, gets to 100% and says 'success' and then reboots, with no errors.
But either way the phone refuses to boot past the honor logo boot animation and ive left it for hours hoping, praying, it will work after the 32nd time...
I can access fastboot but that is useless because my bootloader is not unlocked and i cant get to developer options to enable 'usb debugging' and 'oem unlock'. So i just get error message 'remote: Command Failed' with any command i type.
But thats madness, i cant comprehend why it wont boot because everything seems to work!?!
There has to be a way to get my device functioning again.
I am pulling my hair out, i am at a complete loss, it doesn't make sense. PLEASE ANYONE ..... please help....
Thanks HONOR-able enthusiasts for any help, no matter how small! :good: :fingers-crossed:

??? hi, I.m sorry, i think you must of misread some of my post. I dont blame you, it was bloody long and confusing!
I only mentioned twrp in the very beggining to run you through the steps to my never ending being stuck on honor logo boot animation. I used TWRP to wipe all partitions and format. From there i used 3 button method to install the update.app(B130) on my sd-card. this was succesfull, no errors and rebooted. I didn't expect any problems. But as i explained it never gets past boot logo.
Obviously now, twrp has gone, i am back to stock recovery and my bootloader is locked.
*I can access stock recovery to wipe cache and wipe the phone no problem and all works with no error messages.
*I can access fastboot(bootloader) but the fastboot commands are useless because my bootloader is locked once again and i cant turn on usb debugging or oem unlock in developper options....because my phone wont boot past honor logo...
*Three button method works everytime, 100% success, no errors, reboots but guess what?? IT WONT GET PAST THAT DAMN HONOR BOOT LOGO!!!!!!!!!
Ive tried everything, but NO LUCK. I came up with this idea today though--- download theB130 rollback from nougat to MarshMallow update.zip. Extract the update.app and put that in my sd-card/dload folder and do 3 button install method.
I might even do the same with the nougat B350 just to cover all bases. So i am downloading now, gonna cross my fingers and any other body parts, pray to all the gods...and hopefully i wont be a crying, sniveling, howling piece of mess by tomorrow.
UNLESS OF COURSE SOMEONE HAS THE KNOWLEDGE I SEEK AND IS WILLING TO SHARE IT :fingers-crossed:

OK, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, try that and if this is still not working, I guess all you can do is try the same with other packages.

Moto E5 Play, unable to root

Unable to root Moto E5 play,
Steps:
1. In TWRP recovery, getting Unmodified system partition. So keeping read only have to Wipe -> format data. (As without this get mount /data error). This helps to now mound /data and sdcard is no longer 0MB.
2. After formatting data, if I reboot device I get message Decryption Unsuccessful.
If I do not reboot and continue in TWRP to install Magisk:
2. After the step 1, go back to Install and install zip no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip.Now reboot to recovery the Unmodified partition message no longer appears.
3. From sdcard or Micro SD flash Magisk. I had to flash Magisk-v19.3.zip as all other gave me updater error 1.
4. Once magisk is installed, reboot system.
5. Stuck on Moto boot screen forever.
About phone says, Model E5 play, Android 8.1.0 but can't use official James Twrp, had to use version TWRP 3.2.0 to make TWRP work.
Any help would be appreciated.

aYo bossman....you figure it out? after idk how many hours/days working on this and a few firmware resets I FINALLY got a successful root!! I'm on the e5 play James XT1921-3 for MetroPCS. After trying prolly every guide in the forums this is the one I had success with.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e5/how-to/guide-root-twrp-moto-e5-play-explained-t3856182/amp/
Also, after awhile I had different versions of every every img or zip file which didn't help none. In the end I used magisk-v19.4.zip which I got from the actual site, and the same for the twrp_james.img. make sure to extract the fstab.qcom file as well. That was my problem for a cool minute. And the last thing, which I don't think I read here but on the actual site was I installed Magisk Manager on my phone before even booting into fastboot. Keep in mind I did this all on my girlfriends MacBook air and I'm nowhere near a pro. I was just tweaking (literally-smoking m***) on the thing until I got it rite. If you get stuck in loops check out this program rsdlite which works! And if your phone ever freezes and doesn't loop but stays stuck on the Moto screen, hold the vol up button for a few seconds, followed by the vol down and power button, pressing all 3 at the same time, hold it and eventually it'll pop back into fastboot. Good luck and let me know!!

aYo bossman....you figure it out? after idk how many hours/days working on this and a few firmware resets I FINALLY got a successful root!! I'm on the e5 play James XT1921-3 for MetroPCS. After trying prolly every guide in the forums this is the one I had success with.

How are you able to get lineage on there? I've tried everything and all I end up with when I try to start my phone is a flashing screen. I'd love to know if you'd be willing to help a newbie out?
