I have done some searching and found a thread or two about the droid 4 taking a 64gb card. Seems that it will if formatted to FAT32.
What I realized though is these threads are older and maybe the Jellybean update allows the phone to accept the formatting for the SDXC cards. Reason I'm curious is the new 128GB card that just came out.
I think there's a patch under CM that will allow our phones to read SDXC cards, but I'm not sure - I want to say it's somewhere in the Stargo CM11 thread but I can't remember

SanDisk announced a 128GB MicroSDXC card ($200) that is currently on sale at Amazon for $119. We know it will eventually work with the Galaxy S5, but an Official List of Supported devices does not exist. So we're creating an unofficial list to help AF users eager to jump on the deal.
SanDisk has a compatibility tool that we combed through, and below is a list of every single device that SanDisk currently claims is compatible with their 128GB MicroSDXC Card based on their tool.
We'll keep this list of compatible phones, tablets, and other devices up to date as AF users report back with their experience/knowledge. BUY/USE at your own risk!

Droid 3 and 4 are not listed, but likely just an oversight, as many old devices are listed.

As the title states, now I know that our devices say that they support up to 64GB but I have seen other phones (a long time ago, Desire HD and the like) using memory cards they were never designed to be used with, just wanted to know if anyone had tried it and if so how did it go? Did it work did it make the phone any slower?
Sandisk has said that it's compatible but i'd just like to hear what people have experienced.
Cheers.

Would anybody seriously spend £100 on an sd card, you'd be better putting that £100 into the 32GB or 64GB versions

I highly doubt that it'll stay that price for long once it becomes mainstream, with 4K video set to become the standard over the next few years i'd expect people to be picking this sized memory card up soon so yea if you want to get in there early then 100 quid isn't that bad.
Bare in mind that the jump between iphone memory sets is £100 when a new one is released check the prices, 16GB 32GB and 64GB all £100 difference between them.
So not only would people pay this but they do already.
Not to mention that if you roll back time a little the 64GB card wasn't exactly cheap when it came on the scene.
Also this thread is a question, not a general discussion.
There's a huge difference between buying a 16GB-64GB phone, than buying a 16GB phone then buying a 128GB sd card, especially with kitkats limitations with sd cards

I don't know m8, i've been using foldermount for the really big apps and it's been superb up until now.
There isn't an app out there that I can't mount onto the SD with foldermount, not to mention the sheer amount of media that could be put on a 128GB sd card.
Plus if you've not used one then youre not answering my question either

I tested FolderMount and I agree with you, very good app! ..but I still prefer "Native" expandable storage.

I am so attempted to buy that card, and soon or later I will.
I have the card and is working fine. All I can say is that isn't fast. Max speed you will have is about 15/20 Mb/s writing(Rarely) as the Mobile Ultra. Honestly I prefer my 16 Gb Extreme Pro(I have had 104 Mb/s writing files).

Thats what I was after, thanks m8.
Do you happen to use the app folder mount? Have you noticed anything problematic whilst in use?
Cheers.

Haven't used that app. I don't know if you are rooted but I use sdfix and I haven't had any problems.
PD: I could try the app for you and tell what happens tomorrow. It's 3 am here...

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm merely saying that for the average user, anything more than a 32GB or 64GB is too expensive, and yes the price will come down, but then they'll develop 256GB, how long before we have terabyte cards? They already do terabyte pen drives but they're not affordable to the average user

Samsung Micro SDXC 64Go Classe 10 UHS-1 Grade 1 70MB/s 35€ here, no that's not expensive.
If you re-read what I wrote I said anything MORE than 32GB or 64GB, A decent 64GB can be picked up for under £40,

Lol get some sleep mate, try it when you've got a few zzZZZzz's
I'll look into SDFix, it appears to be a very clean looking app, but as for the modification that it does, does it extend the usage of your internal memory or simply put the rules of the SD card back to the way that it was on 4.3 and previous versions? That's kind of what it says on their play store page.
If thats the case then it is different to folder mount which literally enables you to grab a folder from within your internal stoage and move it to the ext card then the previous folder can be deleted, 100% space back.

Yea you're right i'm not disputing that mate, i've already got a 64GB myself. Picked it up for £38 when they were just becoming mainstream.
All I wanted to know was what people experience was with them, I honestly don't care about the price or whether or not it's too big for some people, everyone's different.
Also I don't need to re-read your post, I read your statement, which was no answer to what I had asked, it was simply your opinion and of no help to me, sorry.
128GB SD-Card speed issue on 4.4.4
I bought my 128gb-card yesterday and I noticed a HUGE speed difference between android 4.3 and 4.4.4. On 4.4.4 it's EXTREMELY slow, but the speed is good on 4.3. Anyone else facing this issue? My Roms are: 4.4.4 - slimkat AMD (evo 9) and 4.3 - romaur 1.2.
Try installing pimp my z1 and change some SD card read ahead and some different I/o schedulers

I am buying a Galaxy Note 4 on Friday. This will be my first ever Samsung phone.
I've previously avoided them due to the extra software, but this time around the combination of hardware was just too much. I really like phones that feature capacitive buttons because I think it's much more efficient, and that really reduces the number of high end flagship phones a lot.
I wish the phone were slightly smaller, but I'll manage.
What about the rest of you? Is this is your first Samsung phone? (poll in thread, please vote)
Not my first, just upgraded from S4 GT-i9506. Picked up my new Note 4 today and I'm already loving it
I've stuck with samsung as I think keeping SDCard support, unlocked bootloader (although now with the new KNOX it voids warranty) and replaceable battery are worth the extra (albeit small due to my carrier) bloatware added to their devices and all the bloat can be removed (depending on your carrier).
Previously I had the Galaxy 5 (not the S5) and the Galaxy S3
No, moved on from GS3. Won't be rooting it for at least a year I guess so don't care about knox counter, most unwanted bloatware can be disabled unlike the GS3 at the beginning, so yeah, having fun with N4 so far.
I've seen the light. Ditching my iphone. I just want the freedom of android and the superior hardware of the Note.
From Samsung Galaxy S2 which was my first smartphone to Samsung Galaxy note 4.
There is something about Samsung electronics as a whole that appeal to me.
My TV is a sammy and my next one will be as well...
SIII was my first Samsung phone
I got an S2 around the time the S4 came out. Untill now i really liked my s2's screen as the colours and blacks were a lot better compared to other phones like iphone and most lcd screens
now i finally got my note 4 and every morning when i wake up i'm like wow its amazing
Its the first one i actually paid myself so its a yes and a no to me
Had a tmobile camera samsung phone back in 2001 or 2002. Then had numerous other phones. And the Galaxy S1, Note 2, Note 4.
Nope had Samsung Epic 4G before.
I600 Blackjack
I900 Omnia
I9000 Galaxy S
P6800 Galaxy Tab 7.7 (yes I used a tablet as my phone for 2 years)
Note 4

No, I had a S2, S3 and have a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) besides my new Note 4.
I'm not a Samsung fanboy though, I really hate their update politics and I'm not a fan of their bloatware. Touchwiz is okay though.
On the other hand I like their hardware and of course the stylus that comes along with the Note series.
The Samsung service in Germany is also pretty good.
First Samsung phone, yes, but I have Note 10.1 tablet and it's quite great even for his age. I wrote hundreds of pages on it.
It's not my first Samsung, but it is my first note. my first Samsung was the Reality u820
Nope, I had a Galaxy s2 first then a Galaxy s4 after that, both phones lasted perfectly until upgrade time, including great battery life and Android updates.
First smartphone was a nokia n8.?
later i had a HTC Desire and HTC one x
I wanted a fast phone with sd and removable battery and choose for note 4
I like it very much and it's my best and fastest phone ever

Started with the Captive -> S2 -> Note 1, S3, Note3, S4, and now Note 4
Nope, upgraded from my GS4 32GB I9500 3weeks ago to my metal beauty Note 4
Also had S2 16GB and S3 32GB, so its in no way my 1st Samsung, and if the Note 5 is even better than this awesome thing then I wont be leaving Samsung anytime soon.
HTC WFS - Nexus 4 - Nexus 5 - Note 4
Ive had the S2, S3, S4, Note 3 and Note 4. S3 being the weakest link, Note 4 being the strongest.
Just never liked the design on the S3 in comparison to the others. Too organic for my taste. Like the Nexus 6.
How it possible that Android M it's only coming to this devices
-Samsung Galaxy Note 5
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
- Samsung Galaxy ALPHA
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A
And our tablet that was announced on June 2014 isn't gonna get the M
Like WTF Samsung 1 year tablet and no more updates
Seems unlikely to be correct

That list is wrong or incomplete the Tab S2 is not even on it.
John.
Don't know where you got that list from, but it's far from correct.
Note 5 Duos, S6 Active, S5, Tab S and S2 and more should be listed.
And I'm wishing for Note 3, but unfortunately it's very unlikely.
I found the same list here.

John.
This is not an official list from Samsung, at this point Samsung doesn't even know when Android M final sources will be ready, not to mention it will take ages to integrate touchwiz and all its features.
One example is Samsung former flagship Note 4, which is still on a very buggy 5.0.1. (10 months after Google release date).
Looking at Samsung firmware release history, you may end up getting Android M by July 2016 (if you're lucky!).
I never trust anything out of Yourmobile. Where do they get their info? Sammobile is a better news source.
I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung doesn't update the Tab S to Marshmallow. The Galaxy Tab Pro (predecessor to the Tab S) came out in 2014 with KitKat 4.4 and later updated to 4.4.2. Lollipop was never released for it. I had a Tab Pro 8.4, which I install CM12 to get Lollipop.
I think: 40% will update, 100% not. But we have cm, fortunately...
Yep we will hopefully get a cm port

they did it last time to the predecessor Galaxy Tab 7.7. It was one hell of a device but being abandon big time by Samsung. They likely doing the same **** again. Its Samsung.
Where is the stupid Tab S2
The german AndroidPit.de wrote, Samsung has confirmed this list. [emoji17]
For Samsung smartphone is their first priority, as for tablet, it a one off, may be 1-2 update a year, then it's a new tablet on the market, and the others get obsolete and thrown to one side.
Those list are for initial devices. The galaxy s4 received lollipop before the note 4 and it wasn't on the so called list. So please stop arguing about something only Samsung will know. Also even if we don't get android 6.0, there will be other methods available as with all android devices.
How about 5.1 at least? Seems this device is neglected by Samsung. I'm having a slight buyers remorse for my Tab S 10.5. Slight...
Perhaps they'll be adding more devices as they start to roll out M updates. But if it happen that this tablet didn't make the cut, then I'm done with Samsung.
Slow down... I would be amazed if Samsung didn't update this tablet.
They still out there updating old ass phones S4, N2... Now they might not get M, but they need to upgrade anyways.
Samsung definably has their own timing when it comes to updating their gauntlet of tablets. In fact, when you look at their lineup of U.S. models, you can see their update history for their entire line of U.S. tablets are the same. With the exception of newly released tablets in the last three months, all of their other tablets still being sold are just on 5.0.2.

Does anybody have news about Note 5 update?
Even my potato is now running android M, and my Note 5 is just on the waiting queue .
Dumb Samsung.
They better do it well this time, or I have to leave Samsung galaxy series till the end of my life. :crying:
samsung is fast in making identical looking models, they are best in hardware but epic fail in software.

Very true ^^ we won't see marshmallow until after the s7 been out for a few months .
