This seems to happen nearly every time I flash a new rom or reset a phone. I restore everything using titanium backup. Then I open android auto and the only music/media app it recognises is google play music. Doesn't recognise Pandora, Spotify or pocketcasts. I've tried reinstalling all of these and still nothing.
Normally a data wipe of those apps make them recognise it but not this time. Pixel XL on pure nexus rom. Pioneer avic f70dab
I'd hazard a guess that because you are restoring them from titanium backup, android auto is recognising them as not being from the playstore and so it won't recognise them due to safety reasons.
But since you have had no problems in the past I'm not sure why this would be happening. I just enabled my non playstore version of spotify to work with android auto. Such a relief.

Good day all!
I've searched the original thread by Vibranturk, but unfortunately could not find anyone/any post similar to mine.
I use my phone to play music in my car via Bluetooth, but it seems to not transmit. However, with the equalizer going (on the Captivate), it shows activity, but nothing is coming through the speakers. I tried placing an outbound call via the same Bluetooth, and I was able to place a normal call through Bluetooth, which leads me to believe that it's specific, maybe even as specific as the music player(s) included with the ROM. I do notice that it shows the Bluetooth activity sign, but the music just isn't transmitting. Could it be either music player causing a conflict? I tried using Titanium to uninstall one of them, but it still happens.
I've done the reset to factory defaults, wipe caches (both partition and Devlik[SP]), and I keep getting the same issue.
Other than this problem, the ROM is great, and thank you, Vibranturk!
Any and all help is much appreciated!

I've also tried removing each music program one-by-one and see if it would play through the Bluetooth. I have even uninstalled both and installed an open-source Android player from the market -- still no dice...

Is there a way to run my Spotify or Waze on it? I have the hacked spotify installed on my rooted Galaxy S7 Edge..
Thanks
Spotify is already compatible with Android Auto. If it's on your phone, it will show up as an audio option in Android Auto.
Waze is coming (soon I hope).
I assume you are referring to Android Auto, and not your radio itself.

I was referring to the radio. Pandora and Google maps show up on the radio. And , in theory, my phone is locked when I plug the usb in and I cannot use any function on it that is not on the radio....
LOL - okay - I'm going to regurgitate a lot. If you're a super user, excuse me telling you stuff you already know...
-The IO6 radio is standard on the Malibu premier, which includes navigation. This is not Google Maps, it has fully self-contained maps (and are they on the SD card for 2016, I think?).
-Your radio also has the Pandora app built in, so if you have Pandora installed on your phone, and the phone connected via bluetooth, the app will leverage your phone and play Pandora.
Are you currently using Android Auto? I would highly recommend playing around with it if you haven't, I find it immensely useful.
-Depending on when your vehicle was built, you may or may not have Android Auto compatibility. If you don't, your dealer will do a free reflash of your radio to get it. Follow the next two steps to see if you do.
-Your phone has to at least have Android 6.0 and have the Android Auto app installed. Just go to the Google Play store, search for Android Auto. If you can see/download it, then your phone is recent enough.
-When you now plug your phone in (must use the USB cable for AA), the "Projection" icon will change to Android Auto on your Malibu's screen, and you can launch AA.
Note: I had issues when connecting some phones for the first time for AA - had to actually change the connection from USB Charging to MTP - by pulling down the notifications and manually changing this - I think (hope) this isn't required in most cases, now.
What's great about Android Auto?
-Google Maps: the real-time traffic for this is awesome. It will be much much more useful than your XM Traffic on your factory navigation.
-Lots of music choices, including Spotify. Also Audible, Podcasts, etc.
-Messaging - you can have your incoming texts/etc, read aloud, and respond back with your voice.
Of course all of this does use your phone's data (or you can leverage your free 3GB of 4GLTE if you haven't used it yet, by connecting your phone to your car's network).
Disclaimer - I work for GM.
Hope this helps...
I have a 2016 Malibu Hybrid. I start waze before I plug in the phone then proceed to use AA.
I have a ZTE Max Pro with T-Mobile and a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT. I have been using Android auto flawlessly for about 1 month and then suddenly it just stopped pairing. There was a brief period where it was mal-functioning. A few days ago using google maps and I received absolutely no audio from google maps and google play music kept pausing for no apparent reason. I was able to hear the music on google play music but no audio from google maps and I made sure it wasn't muted. After that, when I plug my phone into my car, I get NOTHING. It charges and thats it. The car doesnt even TRY to load Android Auto and the phone doesn't do anything. Its like they don't see eachother. I made sure its on MTP mode and USB Debugging is enabled as well.
I remember it working right before Waze became an option, after that it went Ka-Put. I completely factory reset my phone and it STILL did not help. I tried another phone and it loads up fine on my car.
Any ideas?
This was an old post, however I'm having the same issue in the same car. Swapped cables, phones, reverified settings on both the phones and mylink head unit. Frustrating as this was working fine for months, then stopped. Short of a trip to the dealer I'm not sure what else to try.
I'm using a Moto 6+ (Android 8.1) against a Kenwood DDX9704S head unit. This has been working well for a couple of years. This weekend it quit starting. I cleared the settings in the Kenwood, I have cleared cache and data as well as completely deleting and reinstalling Android Auto. I have also tried 3 or 4 different USB cables. Version shows as 4.5.592853-release.
On the head unit, when I plug into USB, I get a message that I need to accept the terms on the Android app. On the phone, Google Assistant starts amd when I choose "continue" Android Auto does automatically start. Bluetooth phone calls are working but Spotify over Bluetooth does not. Pressing the app button on the Kenwood does nothing.
I'm stumped - any suggestions?
Hi
I have a problem with my new Pixel 7 and my car. When conected won't play music automatically. I have to start manually. Previous mobile did it without any problems. What can I do?
You'll need an external app, Pixels doesn't have autoplay feature.
for example Bluetooth Autoplay Music, Poweramp EQ...
Perhaps it depends on the music app? Spotify will start playing for me automatically when I turn my car on and the phone connects to it's bluetooth.
On a Pixel 7 currently (stock ROM, not rooted).
I finaly installed Bluetooth Connect and Play app. Works fine and is free.
My Pixel is also on stock rom and not rooted.
I believe there is a checkbox in Android auto settings to allow auto start of music.
Of course, it is, bu not working in my case.
