P9PLUS VIE-C900B174 help to get updates - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi everybody, few months ago I bought this phone second hand, and since than, I didn't receive any software update. Now I was waiting Nougat, but I realized reading around, that, with the version I have now I won't get any OTA (probably the previous guy did something) Now my question is, how I can fix it? I have no idea if my phone is brand or not. Can I put a different version on it? i'm new to modding world, so I would really appreciate if somebody could help me with this, step by step. Thanks in advance!

Hello! The first thing you need to do is enter in "manufacturer mode" so you can see wich OEMINFO (zone of the phone. Could be Europe, China, LA....) you have.
You must dial in your phone * # * # 2 8 4 6 5 7 9 # * # *
· Option 3. Network Information Query and then
· Option 4. Vendor Country Info
There you will see, if your version is C900 as you explain:
Vendor: Your network provider (in my case Vodafone).
Country: All
And if you wanna have a European version (C432) you must see:
Vendor: hw
Country: eu
Once you have that info you could start with the flashing part. I'll try to help you find the wright post so you can perform it yourself without the problems that I found...

Ok. Now you must search for a Stock ROM thread that's called Stock Roms (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68105813&postcount=159) There you can see that the original stock rom that have your mobile is VIE-L09C113.
The next step it is to decide if you wanna stay with a branded ROM version or if you want to debrand it and change to one that have Nougat like C432 (Europe).
To do the debranding process you need your bootloader code (which Huawei can give you if you google it) or use SRK Tool. With SRK Tool you can debrand it with or without code. Without code I think that changes your IMEI (but im not completely sure about this).
Just search the P9 Plus forum and you will find lot of threads about debranding and updating from C900

Change country code with ios Apple
Hi There,
I read several posts. I just bought a chinese version Huawei P9
Manufacture info: EVA-TL00VN2
Bootloader Version:: EVA-C00B198_Fastboot
CP Version: 21.210.03.01.031 (balong)
), but live in The Netherlands and require English. At present the "Google" app is not working properly. It sincs Calandar and Mail, but it refuses to sync contacts.
I am totally new on software changes etc. I try to understand, but need step-for-step instructions.
I also believe that the Chinese google apk restricts the phone doing certain things due to Chinese laws. (is this a realistic assumption).
I tried downloading SRK-file from other thread, but this is software for Windows and I have a Mac.
Is there a SRK-program (or similar) to operate from IOS.
Please help.
P.s.: Is country code is not an issue to my problem according to you, please advise.
I have restored factory settings several times and started over with installation.
I have checked all possible boxes in Phone and on Google account to allow sites / software to be installed from non-verified partners.
I have been able to download European Google Playstore and all related apps....however...contacts do not sync.
Even though I have changed languages in several locations on phone to English, Chinese signs keep popping up (i.e. homescreen). Rest is English.
Does anyone no the "Verification Key" for the special code under "Veneer Code" (youtube.com/watch?v=oipKvS_n--A&index=47&list=PLeiJwJY5dlmjhw2MEVYMsDvuiuIlphUv1[/url])
Thanks for your cooperation.

How to find original build number?

Hello.
I am new to everything related to Huawei and I have a small doubt please.
I have a Huawei P9 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1 (exactly the same phone and specs as P8 Lite 2017; just a different name used by Huawei for marketing and regional purposes).
I have recently updated the build number through the inbuilt Huawei system update to version B162.
Please note that this was only a 400MB update with very minor changes and it was not a full ROM installation. Please see attached screenshot.
I am going to unlock the bootloader, TWRP and root very soon. I read that on the forum that sometimes people have to flash the original version of the build number when their phone gets soft or hard bricked in order to recover their phone.
I wanted to download the original build number as safety in case something goes wrong.
I can't remember the build number I had previously to B162.
1. How would I find the original build number I was on when I bought the phone? Only through a factory reset?
2. Is it really necessary the original build number to recover my phone (if needed one day) or another build would work?
Sorry but I find this Huawei updating method rather complicated or confusing.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Factory reset don't work because it will same build that you on now. Perhaps if you install firmware finder you can see previous builds

Thank you for the answer.
I do have Firmware Finder installed but as I mentioned I did not memorise the previous build number so I would not know which one to look for.
I suppose that if I search for build number B162 (my current updated version) it would work in case I need to flash the original version if any problems arise.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Also in relation to my question #2 any idea please?
Thank you so much.

I have honor 4x(different phone, but this part of the phones might be same).
I think FULL firmwares from firmware finder can be flashed in TWRP and in that case you'll only need to worry about getting the firmware which has the same specs as your phone.
TWRP dosen't do any version checking so you don't need to find exactly correct version.
I don't know will this work, but if you get stuck it's good to know.

Yes it is good to know I will be able to flash any version as long as it is for PRA-LX1.
With some other phone brands I had in the past downgrading was out of the question (LG G3 and G4 for example).
Not sure about Huawei in relation to downgrading.
My opinion is that this should be all standardised all across Android anyway and not all different between phone manufacturers.
Thanks for your reply.
basically the only thing you need to look at is C432 in the firmware number

You MAY find your original build number according to your region:
https://mobiletech360.co/huawei-p8-lite-2017-stock-firmwarerom-android-7-nougat-pra-lx1/
But even if you do i doubt that you can revert it back, I had a PRA-LX1C464 which is the region code for Turkey, I wanted to update it through Firmware Finder and successfully did. But it changed my phone' build number to PRA-LX1C432, and I can't revert it back to C464. My phone is single SIM, but the firmware I'm using is dual SIM (wtf huawei? ) . So far so good though, phone works fine.

You need to rebrand your phone aka flash another oeminfo that is related to your device. This will lock your bootloader, so make sure you are on stock EMUI first, flash the new oeminfo (make sure it belongs to your device), go to erecovery and restore your device, this will wipe all your data and download the firmware of the oeminfo you flashed. You can unlock your bootloader afterwards.

Q:p9 plus debranding.

now i know why everytime i manual update my p9 plus c636b103 to higher firmware is making it c900. its because my p9 plus is locked to its network carrier and the network smart is not releasing the ota for p9 plus. i have a vendor of smart country ph.,
pls bare to read as your knowledge/experience will help alot not only to me but to the future whom might get the same questions as mine. pls answer every questions./problems i have encountered thank you.
Q:#1 as i understand i think i need to do the debranding?? to unlock my p9 plus from my network, at first it made me so confused because my sim is unlocked i can use any sim. but then i realized its still locked in system updates from smart ph.
Q:#2 do i need to unlock bootloader install twrp and root the p9 plus first before contiunuing to the vdo of debranding?
Problem: #1, i dont fully understand the vdo of droidth in debranding the unit. i got lost of understanding in the changing of ro. build. id something like that. i tried to do the extracting the verlist but when i open the extracted verlist. img in notepad i only get random letters and symbols(ex. b&+g~), but in the video i should see vie/nxtc636b***. so i really got lost.
Problem: #2. i know i need the unlock code from huawei website.before i can unlock bootloader and i already get a code but the problem is i forgot to right it down as i only txted it to my number which i also use in my p9plus and i factory reset my p9 plus when i install back to c636b103 because if i dont factory reset after install b103 i got null imei, camera crashes, internal storage none. but after factory reset its ok.
so how am i gonna get a code again? is it still possible to get the code again? can someone pls put the link? thx.
thank you.
your reply will be much appreciated.
Yes, you need to debrand your phone and install the generic firmware for your region (for example, c432 firmwares for europe). In order to do this, you need unlocked bootloader and twrp. Root is optional, it depends on how you want to change the OEMinfo. For the unlock code I think you can ask it again to huawei in the same way you asked for it the First time. For problem#1, sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about because I didn't use that guide. Maybe try to root the phone and then edit the file directly on it with somethin like root explorer.

can i use any firmware in debranding? and should i first go back to b103? i have frimwares here b180 b190 b170 b130 b362.. all ar3 c636, what should i use? and can i do now the debranding process even if im still on c900b180?
Since you are on C900, I believe your cust is broken. Read here: https://www.google.it/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-change-cust-c900-c432-t3392824/amp/ note: it's about p9, don't download or flash anything from there.
Now if you want you can try these steps:
1- unlock bootloader (if it's still locked)
2- install twrp
3- flash via twrp the attached file (ONLY if your phone is supposed to be L29-C636, which I believe it is)
4- install a C636 firmware with DLOAD metod
Now you should be on C636 firmware with a debranded phone.

Debranding EVA - L09C900B191 - Help

Hi there,
i'm trying to debrand a P9 EVA L-09 using the methods shown by Zblade in (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-debranding-to-c432-updating-to-t3551523) without any luck.
Using the stock recovery, i'm trying to "force" flash the C432 without sucess. It always gives "failed" , even using the dload folder and update.app rename.
My network is unlocked, but accessing the vendor menu ( * # * # 2 8 4 6 5 7 9 # * # * and going to point 3. Network Information Query and Push point 4. Vendor Country Info) it has the provider that sold me the device.
Can anyone help me in this subject? Is there a way to debranding it to a european firmware (mine's from Portugal) compatible with my EVA-L09 ?
Thank you in advance!

That guide is somewhat old, instead of rolling back to c900b136 you can rollback to c900b300 and from there to go to c432 b182
But be aware of unlocking Bootloader (as in the guide, and how to do it) - it has nothing with locked or unlocked network

You can't rebrand (but you could brick) just by flashing c432 build.
Maybe you can do it by HWOTA7 (advantage, no need to go back to MM), similarly as explained in posts #1 and #2 (you can directly ask in the thread would it work, maybe you can escape c432 ang go directly to AL10b399 etc)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rebrand-update-tool-hwota7-p9-eva-t3820849
But for sure you can rebrand to c432 by rolling back to MM (and then you will receive OTA updates for c432 for Nougat)

Hi
Sorry for my late answer. HWOTA7 is primarily for rebranding on Android 7 without having to downgrade to Android 6.
A) Just read first Post 1: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rebrand-update-tool-hwota7-p9-eva-t3820849/
B) Follow the Guide from Post 2 - STEPS 0-10 (11 and 12 are only required, if something went wrong in step 10) - but in Step 8 you must choose the oeminfo for your needs (in your case L09c432) and of course, you must have the Firmware for the new oeminfo in the update folder!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77161313&postcount=2
I would recommend to use b504 for EVA-L09c432 for now, because it is currently approved

No, it doesn't contain any personal information on Android 7 and Android 6 - only on new devices with Android 8 oeminfo include IMEI.
That's why it's not possible on Android 8 to change location by changing oeminfo...
@miksly Would you please zip your oeminfo Backup and upload it for me (I would integrate into HWOTA7) , thanks
