Gallery App - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I love my oneplus BUT using the Gallery App is driving me crazy.
Am I doing something wrong?
A simple operation like selecting pics and moving to folders is impossible.
I get a message 'move to collection'
I just want to move images from Bluetooth folder to Wallpaper folder.
It's soooooo annoying!
However - it IS clean and quick. I just wish it was more intuitive act moving pics from folder to folder.

Just install QuickPic_4.5.2 from apk mirror for your all gallery uses.exact same version not newer because newer versions are ad backed inside.
And disable the oneplus gallery app.

HOW TO - Hide Certain Media Files from Music Player and Gallery (5/30/2009)

Have you ever been listening to your Britney Spears, Daft Punk or Tupac and suddenly you start hearing files that aren't music (i.e ringtones, notification sounds, etc.)? I find it pretty annoying that there is no current method to hide these files from the music player, until now.
I would like to give credit to Scheff's Blend for this idea, and after tinkering with the the doom game folder on my memory card, I found a file called ".nomedia". Within that same folder was over 100 sound files for the game doom, BUT my music player was not reading that specific folder.
I figured it had to do something with that ".nomedia" file, and coincidentally it DID.
Instructions:
1) Download and unzip nomedia.zip somewhere onto your computer
2) Inside is a file called .nomedia, copy it into the directory of media files you want to hide
3) Reboot your phone
P.S. This also works for pictures and video files, BUT for newly taken pictures and videos, or music files added, a REBOOT is REQUIRED to hide them again.
WARNING: this completely hides the files from the phone, so they become unusable to any application until the .nomedia file is removed, and the phone is restarted. I know Scheff's Blend found a way to use those files while hiding them, yet I haven't. If anyone wants to help me out, feel free to.
I know a lot of people wanted to know how to do this, so sorry to any mod who notices I double posted, but I just realized I should have put it in this forum section to begin with. Feel free to delete the other thread in the "Dream" section.
Right on.
Another option that works is placing files you want hidden inside of a folder that starts with a period, such as ".hiddenfolder" or ".stuffimhiding"
Files and folders that begin with a period are considered hidden files by the Android OS and do not show up in Gallery or the music app
Thanks man..
was looking for a way to do this..

Thanks, thats good to know. But can they be used by lets say the dialer.apk as a ringtone?
I do the same thing with Astro. Like Dave said, keeping a folder with a dot at the front and anything within won't be read unless opened by Astro or renamed. This may not work for the ringtones, but its quicker than having to reboot if you just want to hide photos, documents, videos, etc.
I have problem where videos in folder w/ .nomedia get deleted at each reboot... Now using Cyan 4.1.11.1... Really weird. Each reboot deletes videos in those folders

Gallery application

Hi I use cyanogenmod by mdj but I don't like the 3d gallery which comes with it. I have used in the past some sense roms which had the much better htc gallery. What s your opinion on that and what app do you have to suggest me?

Quickpic is fast and nice...
yes...Quickpic... is very nice app thx
JustPictures is very fine...
If you want a simple gallery viewer with nice thumbnails, ability to exclude whatever folder you like (ie. system folders with icons etc) then Quickpic is one of the better ones out there. Tried just pictures and the like, Quikcpic leaves it for dead in terms of usability.
Dual file mgr wasnt bad either (acts like a file explorer just like a PC so you navigate to the folder opposed to every folder being viewed. Like on a windows phone).
+1 on quickpic. I also didn't like the 3d gallery and looked at a couple replacements and quickpic was the best becuase it's nice and simple and has thumbnail preview of pics

Gallery folder un-findable

So I loaded Serendipity today. Master cleared and everything. So I was really surprised to find old pictures on my phone when I opened the gallery app. And strangely it wouldn't let me delete them. Hmm. So I looked in the sd folders, dcim etc. Cannot find these pics anywhere! The gallery app did tell me the file names So I loaded up root explorer and ran a search... NOTHING!
These pics show in my gallery but I can't find the files anywhere. Where are they hiding?

Went into the stetting, manage applications, to the gallery app and hit clear data, and these strange photos vanished! Still don't know where they were. but they are gone now. Would loveto hear where they were stored if anyone knows...
Spoke too soon! So after a reboot, the folder of pics comes back! If I clear the gallery app's data, it vanishes again, but returns after every reboot. Can anyone help with this?
Is it a stack of thumbnails (separate folder path) or viewable image files? If you have external SD maybe browse it on a PC.
It still there with no external SD, and I can't find it from the PC or root explorer.
You, know, I have a blog, and these all seem to be photos on my blog. And blogger seems to be hooked to Picasa Web albums. So I'm thinking Gallery pulls pulls the contents of my Picasa Web album down to the phone... could this be? Can it be stopped?

If you have them linked then yes that is where they are comming from and why they keep comming back. The only way to stop it would be to but a no media file in the target folder, back draw is that the file will hide it from all Android apps that look for media

Have you got go launcher or any other third party launcher? Go sms? Any other custom sms clients? I installed go sms once and now I have those strange ghost smileys on my phone. And can't you simply delete them in the gallery (or any other image viewer)?
Sent from my Galaxy Note running ICS
This is what happens when third party apps store data on your sdcard, and don't include a nomedia file in the folder they are storing them in, youwill have to either delete the files or if they keep coming back find the folder they are in and create a file with the name .nomedia with no file extension
Just be aware that if you have other media in the folder (eg. mp 3, videos etc.), they will no longer show up in other media playing apps if you add the .nomedia file.
I have a lot of music folders that have album art in them. All of the album art shows up in Gallery, which is annoying. I can't add a .nomedia file, or my mp3's won't show in music players.
I use Just Pictures most of the time as it allows you to hide folders. I only use Gallery when I am selecting a picture from an app that doesn't play nice with Just Pictures.

thanks, at the moment they didn't come back.
Let's hope it will stay this way.

Delete Thumbnails from Albums JB

Hi all, I can't seem to find the thumbnails file to delete in the DCIM folder. I have looked in the folder and its not there. I have removed some pictures but they are still showing. Where does Android store these pictures thumbnails? It's very annoying. I tried refreshing and still no luck. I'm currently using ROM called CyanASOP 1.8 this is driving me crazy.
Clear the data for the gallery app.
I have
I have but it still doesn't clear the thumbnails. I have even deleted the a folder and nothing. The folder shows up in the thumbnails but then there are no pictures.
Thumbnails are stored in a hidden folder inside DCIM. The folder name is ".thumbnail" and the dot in front of the name makes it hidden. You need a file explorer that can show hidden files. Note that you do not need root. Look inside the settings of your file explorer and see if there is a setting to display hidden files.
