mi5 pro charges ONLY after full battery drain - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
My Mi5 pro will not charge only after fully drained battery. It will also not identify any USB connected to a PC. What can i do?
I am running CyanogenMod 13 for 6 months now and this is the 1st time it happens.

[Q] CM 11 (JCSullins): Battery not charging?

I installed JCSullins 4.4.4 CM 11 from 9/13/14. Thanks to the Toolbox, the process went extremely smoothly. I ran into a small issue though. The battery would charge properly overnight for the first week or so. Then I noticed that the battery wasn't getting charged (no charging indicator) but a reboot would fix the issue and the battery would start charging again. This morning, the battery won't charge at all, even with a reboot. It shows 51% and discharging. I tried different chargers but none seem to have an effect. I haven't had a chance to plug it into a laptop yet to see if the USB port is broken. Has anyone else had battery issues after upgrading? If the USB port is indeed broken, would a charging dock (Touchstone?) charge the TP?
Might be Cable problem
Hi,
I've been using this rom for about 3 days and didn't noticed any problems in charging. What I had in the earlier days is battery drain in lowest clock frequency. Then i rebooted it 5 to 6 times and then problem got solved also deep sleep started working.
You can check the cable and the charging adapter. It might be the blacksheep.

Thanks for your reply. I tried using other chargers and cables and nothing seems to make a difference. Oddly enough, the charge has dropped to 15% and if I leave it plugged in all day/night, it doesn't drop beyond whatever % it was last at. As an example, if I leave it unplugged and the charge drops to 10%, it will stay at 10% when the TP is plugged in. The battery icon also shows charging for a minute or so, then stops again.
Just as a follow, at least one other user has this problem. See the 4.4.4 thread in the developer section. Unfortunately, I cannot post in a developer until I have at least 10 posts. Sigh.

Problem with Cyanogen 12.1, No offline charge

So i've recently flashed the last stable cyanogen rom 12.1 (first i've tried with TWRP but i got error so i did it with Odin) . I was using a modified stock rom before this.
After flashing with Odin i noticed that i couldn't charge my phone anymore with a generic wall charger (original charger works intermittenly, almost broken). This generic charger worked fine with the stock rom. Using the old original charger works but charges at very low speed. And then i realized that i cannot charge the phone offline, i've recently bought a new battery because i thought the older one was mal functioning but now with this problem i think i've already killed the new one.
So what should i do to fix the charge issue? Roll back to stock? Try KitKat maybe? Usb charging works but really slow charge too.
Thanks in advance for any help, tip you can give me about this issue. Happy new year to all.
Edit: another thing i've found is that the battery may be overheating, is this common with this rom? or is it part of the charge problem? the phone feels hotter in my hands while i'm using it.
I dont have any problems with overheating.
How long do you mean by 'long charging'? For me it's ~2,5h. The longer battery charges, the longer is its life.
I have also problems with offline charging, but it's not game breaking, you can charge battery in TWRP.

I mean is really slow, and my battery doesn't charge 100%, it gets to 92% no matter how much time i charge it. But that may be a problem with my new battery (i didn't charge it right the first time, because i couldn't charge it offline)
So is this offline charging problem common using this rom?

MI MAX 2 Charging problem.

Mi Max 2 charging very slow... how to solve it ?
Just change USB cable and use Xiaomi original charger
any more info on this? what do you consider "slow"? full charging time in my case with original xiaomi charger and cable averages 3.5 hours in my case (until charging amperage drops to zero, so this goes beyond the mere "100%" on display)
i also experience this bug. really slow charging. it takes me 9 hours to charge from 0% to 86%. im using the original charger and cable from the box. anyone know how to solve this?
we need more info in order to help you.
- which rom do you have installed?
- which kernel?
- whats the state of your phone during charging? do you leave the screen off or check every 5 minutes or use it permanently? got all sensors (BT, GPS, Wifi, Data, etc.) switched off and using flight mode?
- how new is the installed rom? did u just install it and first charge?
Agree! Without basic information about your phone, don't expect help at all.
same problem.. too slow to charge.. up for this
does anyone have an answer for this?
see above... provide more info on your specific use case.
im using miui10 beta and stock kernel.. the battery is great but so slow on charging.. it takes 6 to 7 hours.. but when im using powerbank and put into 2.1 a may charging time become 3hrs something.. what is the problem of this..
I have a same problem, I thought it is because of my Original Charger of Xioami, maybe the problem is the software.
This is my phone's MUI Version: MIUI Global 9.6 | Stable 9.6.3.0
Interestingly, I recently upgraded firmware to 9.6.3 and faced the same issue.
Fortunately I had a full backup from a few days earlier so was able to restore the firmware partition as a troubleshooting exercise.
Charging speed with 9.6.3 and screen off was logged at an average of 1723 mA.
After restoring the firmware partition from backup, charging was logged at 2935 mA.
Same charger and cable for both tests so unless there's something else at play that I don't understand, pretty sure it's a firmware issue.
Since I replaced the screen I am issuing the same problem. Charging super slowly about 15% in 2-3 hours and overheating.
I will replace the battery first

Mi Room v9.2.29 Charging Issue

Hello Team,
I just installed Mi Room v9.2.29 for my Xiaomi Mi5 device. The performance and features of the MIUI 10 are really excellent. But I have a problem; the device stops charging approximately 15 minutes after plug device into the charge. I thought the problem was in the wall plug, but I tried to charge the device in different plugs and the same issue still continues. I tried to charge with my second charging cable but same issue. Is this a general issue for Xiaomi Mi5 devices?
Thanks for an advice!
Best Regards
i did noticed it sometimes. but maybe mine could be port loose connection. but it isnt occuring too often. it's sometimes..
but i m note sure if its miroom issue.
clean the usb port with something because sound like you have debris inside the port
I have not charging issue when using this time but Im facing fast battery drain when play games. It's drain very fast... I did try miui 11 eu 9.10.10 and Mi room but the results are same.

MI mix battery issue?

Hello guys, really bummed out here.
I recently rediscovered my original mi mix which I had 4 years ago.
Everything was working except the battery couldn't hold a charge. It will charge to 100% and while using the phone it will just shut down randomly. So I changed to a new battery and hoped for the best.
Now with the new battery it's the same. Battery charges up to 100%.i tried the pixel rom, xiomi global rom and now I'm on dotOS, same ****.
The weird thing is I put it in safe mode and the phone has not shut down for 4 hours now but it is stuck at 70%.
If I plug in the cable the phone works fine. The moment I take it out and start using it. It randomly goes into a bootloop and dies. When I charge it back, battery always starts of at 50%
Is there any hope or is it just a beautiful paperweight?

Hi Bro. I sent it to a phone repair shop and they said the issue was with the battery. Replaced a new one and its working like normal again. I probably bought a defective battery
Sounds like a mobo issue.
Try a hard reset ie disconnect the battery.
