Hey All,
I hope you guys can help me, I'm completely lost in all these threads and posts. I've spent hours on this, literally hours...
I have a HTC One M7 (bought in Belgium) which I wanted to return to stock because of a faulty speaker (I just rooted the standard image). So I relocked the bootloader to flash an RUU. I tried flashing several European RUUs from the xda collection, but nothing worked. I also tried a zipped firmware, and it also fails. I always get this error:
FAILED remote: 12 signature verify fail
I'm stuck in fastboot, it doesn't boot into the OS anymore, only fastboot.
Getvar output:

I try to flash the RUU Zip M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.16_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_318486_signed_2_4_decrypted.zip
Strange thing is, when I check the zip's android-info:
modelid: PN0710000
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
...
So I don't get anymore why it would fail a signature check...
I also tried flashing a newer version, this didn't work either. What makes matters worse, the battery keeps uncharging as I continue to struggle...
Tell it to me straight, doctor... Is my HTC doomed to be a paperweight?
What do you mean "flash a RUU" ? Is it you try to fastboot flash the RUU ? It won't work that way.
Checking this : http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=M7
I see there is only one RUU that may work for you : RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe
What you need to do:
1- in fastboot mode - relock the bootloader : run command fastboot oem lock (you did this already)
2- in fastboot mode - flash/run/double click the RUU; follow the updater instruction - next, update, bla, bla, bla until it finish

First of all, thanks a bunch for taking the time to respond.
I'm currently downloading the proposed RUU and will try flashing it.
I don't understand, however, why my downloaded RUUs wouldn't work since the CID and model corresponded?
I tried both methods: using the RUU to flash and using the fastboot oem rebootRUU > flash zip.

When your device is S-ON, you need a correct version RUU i.e 1.29.401.16 (which is not available, I believe), so you should go for a higher version not lower version.
I'm new to HTC One too so not so sure about fastboot oem rebootRUU, but I believe it needs a S-OFF device to work but yours is S-ON.

Search for ERROR 158 may help you.
What I understand ERROR 158 maybe because the bootloader is not relocked, not using USB2.0, maybe also a modified hboot (usually the one that remove the red text warning) is installed prior to running the RUU, not running the RUU in Admin Privilege mode.
Maybe someone else have better idea, have to wait for that.

- No, I locked using fastboot oem lock with USB cable.
maybe also a modified hboot (usually the one that remove the red text warning) is installed prior to running the RUU
- Afaik, I never installed a custom hboot myself. I get the red text warning at the white HTC screen.
not running the RUU in Admin Privilege mode.
- Nope, the RUU runs with admin privileges in Win 7
Maybe someone else have better idea, have to wait for that.
- Let's hope so

Please guys, help a fella out... I will be forever grateful
Update: I unlocked my phone again with the unlock bin from HTCDev and now it boots again...
I suppose I need to do S-OFF with revone since I'm at 1.44, but unsure. Damn this stuff is confusing.
You will need to flash new firmware I saw a hierarchy of htc one's Ruu firmware list on android revolution site.
Just check in the name of the correct ruu you downloaded and try to match the numbers of your Ruu with the list given there. I hope it may help you or if you get confused Pm me.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
OK, I solved it.
So I did an S-OFF with revone, then locked and removed tampered (also revone).
Then I flashed a good RUU. It took ages to find a good one, followed another thread (2325010) on the forum which I can't link because of the restrictions .
Then I used thread 1672425 to put S-ON again and now my One it back to full stock!
Hi Guys,
I bought HTC one from Ebay, which was suppose to be Europe version but turns out to be HK version with OS - 2.24.708.4. OTA was not able to install with red triangle error in recovery, after some search i found out that the CID number must be tempered, and i saw that it is 11111 with S-off though it showing to be LOCKED. Which means i can install any custom ROM. I want to have 4.4 with sense 6, So i unlocked flashed twrp 2.6.3 and rooted. I downloaded Android revolution custom ROM (for international version) and flashed it. But afterwards the phone is in bootloop. I can load bootloader and use fastboot along with twrp. But i can't see anything in /sdcard, so data mount is not working it seems. There is no nandroid backup (my mistake ). I repeated the unlock/rooting process when the phone went in bootloop, that might have messed up with sdacrd access, as I flashed revolution rom from there only.
I am aware that by flashing RUU i can get back to stock, but I cant find any RUU for this particular baseband and HBOOT, if yes please let know what should be the closest RUU for this version ? If RUU is not the option, what should i do now ?
Current situation: NO ROM installed, only access to bootloader (fastboot) and recovery with no sdcard mounted.
Also, even though i rooted properly, i cant see "TEMPERED" in the bootloader.

Additonal info
Attached image above it before Unlocking, after unlcoking and flashing recovery it just says unlcoked, rest everything remains same. I also tried sideloading with adb, the device is recognized in adb but i can't send big files, my system is frozen after running the command. But when i send a test file, it is sideloaded quickly.
Can anyone suggest, which ROM to sideload which will be compatible with my device ??

you need twrp 2.6.3.3 to flash arhd rom, will not work with 2.6.3.0.
if you want the phone to be European version use a WWE ruu (.401 version)
change cid and mid to match the .401 ruu
then flash the ruu.
stay s-off and unlocked.
Thanks for your reply

if you want to use ruu, you must make sure both cid and mid match the ruu you want to use. If you want to use custom rom, no need to tamper with these. You might want to take a look at arhd 71.1 or viperone, these are very good roms, always up to date (even much faster update then the official roms)

I can't change mid now, as data mount is failing, saying 0 internal storage, what to do now ?
Other issue is the MID as per Getvar all is "PN071****" , how come it is like this ? can't find this issue anywhere
Please help I have the RUU but its failing may be becuase of MID, if i remain supercid, i guess i can still flash but may be MID is creating issues here. How to change the mID ?
Also, since data mount is failing adb is not worling properly, it was working till yesterday.
I guess flashing stock recovery might solve data access issue, but i can't find stock recovery for my version-main 2.24.708.4, please help with stock recovery

Hi Yatin,
I got original recovery but not original stock ROM, so I am still in a fix. Now i can see internal storage if I flash twrp 2.6.3.3., but it seems all the files has been wiped or formatted, ARHD rom file is not available. Also, adb sideload is not working. MID change is the most important now. I dont know how MID is with asteriks. I guess becuase of MID no RUU can be installed. I tried fastboot oem rebootRUU for sending OTA ROM, but it is now in bootloop again.
If you can PM me your phone number, i would call for some understanding. Thanks for your time.
Please PM me your phone number, if that is possible.

MID with the 4 astrix is super MID, I had the option to have my phone changed to that when I had my phone s-off'd
Have you tried to use adb push instead of sideload ?
as there is no 708 ruu available for your phone you will have to use a custom rom.
put the rom in your adb/fastboot folder on your computer and rename it to rom.zip
plug your phone into the computer and boot it into recovery (main screen only)
open a command prompt on your computer inside the adb/fastbootfolder, (control + shift + right mouse click, open command window here)
then type adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
it will take a while so be patient, the command window will let you know when it is done.

Since you are S-Off, use a custom recovery masked in a firwmare package: you can use of these "firmware" packages (m7_u/ul only):
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=13085
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fw_m7ul_TWRP_2.6.3.3_1.26.401.33.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY (should be TWRP or CWM now)
and use scotty1223's commands in custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914 to unlock bootloader
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B][COLOR="Blue"]adb devices[/COLOR][/B]

HT34xxxxxxxx recovery [I]<- you need to be in custom recovery to
ensure [B]root[/B] privileges
i.e. an adb shell with [B]#[/B] as opposed to [B]$[/B][/I]

exit
C:\ADB3>[B][COLOR="Blue"]adb reboot bootloader[/COLOR][/B]
^^ if this doesn't work in your particular version,
just select reboot to bootloader in TWRP.
ps: your version-main will now say 1.26.401.33 (reflecting the recovery version 2.6.3.3); it didn't actually change, but version-main always shows the last thing flashed in ruu mode.
.
Also, there's no need to relock bootloader for RUU flashing when you are S-Off.
Do not ever go S-ON!!
Thanks nkk7, for your timely advise, device is now back to unlocked.
Yatin,
Using adb push, I am able to get the ARHD ROM in the sdcard, but after installation it is stuck on HTC logo. When i do factory reset, it is going back to recovery. What to do now? After flashing, i wipe cache and dalvik.

that error is OK, since you don't have an OTG cable attached.

Phone is softbricked and I cant boot into any OS. I dont have any nandroid backups before flashing ARHD for the first time, from there on its a long journey. First i tried to restore it to stock, so went with RUU route. But even that is failing even though I had right CID and MID, may version-main was the issue.
Now i want ARHD or stock either to work. Current situation -Soft bricked, Unlocked, S-off, TWRP 2.6.3.3 OS original version 2.24.708.4. I reflashed ARHD, at the end of install (with full success, the device shut down automatically) When i start it shows HTC icon (with red text below) and nothng happen afterwards. I waited for 10 mins approximatley. Ultimately I want latest 4.4 with HTC sense. It seems stock option is very cumbersome so I am ok with Custom ROM. Should I try some other ROM ?

First off, stay S-Off!! Do not even think about S-On.
Second, if you want to go for 100% stock, check my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
using ruu.zip method with the 1.28.401.7 ruu.zip
Third, if you want ARHD or any other custom ROM, just follow the steps mentioned in the Frequently Asked Question sticky I linked earlier. assuming you checked MD5, used twrp 2.6.3.3, etc, then you didn't wait long enough for the ROM to boot up; as mentioned the first bootup (after a clean install) will take close to 20 mins.
Let me know if you have any questions

Does the phone boot into OS? If so, then it was overwritten during either the flash of an earlier version of TWRP or Cyanogenmod. If you were to flash a new firmware then it would be restored.

Thanks for your reply, It does boot up normally and the phone is perfectly fine so your saying it has been overwritten by either the recovery or custom rom and thats why it isnt showing?
based on this i could flash the latest firmware 6.09.401.5?
Again Thanks.

As long as it is higher or equal to your version, and if you are s-on you will have to lock your bootloader.

you can more or less infer your firmware version, from hboot version:
hboot 1.44 = 1.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.54 = 2.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.55 = 3.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.56 = 4.xx.xxx.x (in some rare cases 5.xx)
hboot 1.57 = 5.xx.xxx.x and 6.xx.xxx.x
however, i would recommend you flash them incrementally, since firmwares are usually extracted from OTAs they expect the previous changes to already have been applied, so depending on the firmware package you intend on using (some of them have been repackaged to include previous changes), you could end up in trouble.
(for example, flashing a 5.xx ota firmware while on 3.xx or lower firmware will result in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode, and you'd have to try [UNBRICK][BETA] HTC Unbricking Project)
so i recommend you flash them incrementally.

OK Thanks for the advice still i dont know what firmware it is even if it is 2.XXXXX because im on Hboot 1.54 but i geuss i could start with just one increment up from the lowest 2.XXXXX version only thing is im paranoid about attempting to flash an older firmware and it mess up the phone.
Again a big thanks to everyone who has replied.

are you s-off? then you can flash unsigned firmware, and you can go straight to 3.62.401.1
i personally use these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
(in that thread, even the 6.09.401.5 firmware has all the previous files included so it should be safe to go directly to 6.09, but i personally prefer incremental, just in case)
can you post a "fastboot getvar al"l (excluding IMEI and s/n)
PS: the real problem was for people with 3.xx firmware or lower going to 5.xx firmware (from OTA) which was missing SBL3 from 4.xx (another Secondary Bootloader), which would cause the device to go into QHSUSB_DLOAD

fyi, looks like you have a rumrunner/firewater ENG hboot in there, that will be gone once you update, you'll be back on normal hboot.
I would personally flash the following versions incrementally from vomers thread
- 3.62.401.1
- 4.19.401.8
- 4.19.401.11
- 5.11.401.10
- 6.09.401.5
(there is some redundancy doing this since the versions from 4.19.401.11 upwards, vomer has included all previous updates too, but better safe than sorry)

I bought HTC one M7 unlocked from HTC.com when it came out. Last year I modified it to get rid of sense and made it "google play edition". I discovered I can't get OTA updates though due to the presence of stock recovery though.
Question: How can I get rid of TWRP and get back to stock recovery? fastboot getvar version-main returns empty

If its 4.4.4 (Build KTU84P) you need the 4.09.1700.1 stock recovery to install the 5.0.1 update (LRX22C). You'll then receive another notification to install the 5.1 update (LMY47O)

So it was originally a developer edition phone right?
First download this ruu and save it in the same folder you have fastboot and adb on your computer. Rename the file "ruu" so it will be easier in the command prompt.
Download this tool and save it on the root of your phone storage
Boot in twrp recovery, select "install" and choose "Guru_Bootloader_Reset_1.0.zip" and then "swipe to install"
Follow instruction of the installer to remove tampered from the bootloader. Don't set the bootloader to locked or re-locked. Keep it unlocked as Developer edition phones are factory bootloader unlocked.
Then boot the phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode
Confirm that tampered is gone and bootloader is still unlocked.
With the phone still in bootloader, open a command window from your adb/fastboot folder
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
phone will reboot in ruu mode, a black screen with silver htc logo
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
first flash will report "failed, flush image again immediately, so do the same command again:
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
this one will report "flashed successfully"
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
If you want to turn the bootloader back to S-ON for warranty do this command as the final step:
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and confirm phone is S-ON, Unlocked, no tampered flag.
And a big warning here, do not perform this if you are using a windows 8/8.1 computer as the ruu will downgrade hboot to 1.44. hboot 1.44 is not compatible with windows 8.1 and you'll loose fastboot connectivity after the first "fastboot flash zip ruu.zip" and you'll be stuck in ruu mode. Use windows 7. XP, Linux (Ubuntu for example) or use MacOS

Wow this was simple! I'm now running stock Jelly Bean, just like a new phone two years ago
I have still left S-OFF and Unlocked - will compare these settings to how my wife's phone is, and then either leave it unlocked or locked to match hers. And then will do S-ON.
Thank you kind sir!

Dev edition are unlocked from factory
Security is set to S-ON from factory
anyway its to late to set the bootloader to locked because the tool to set this requires a custom recovery.

Well I checked wife's phone, and it is "LOCKED" to my surprise. So I have to do the same to match those settings. I bought this phone within few days when it became available, and it may not have been the developer edition I initially thought. It must have been the "international" version rather than the "unlocked developer" version.

The international version is MID PN0710000, version base is .401 e.g. 7.19.401.2 and BS_US001 is not a CID for international version...
There a method to know what your phone was originally. Your original CID/MID and firmware/software version are stored in the MFG partition of your phone. If you can dump this partition to your computer and send it to me, we can determine for sure what it was originally. Unfortnately this partition also include your IMEI and Serial number which should be kept private, if you are ok with sharing this with me here how to proceed:
Boot twrp recovery without flashing it to your phone:
reboot your phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode
Code:
fastboot boot [URL="https://dl.twrp.me/m7/twrp-2.8.6.0-m7.img.html"]twrp-2.8.6.0-m7.img[/URL]
once booted in twrp main menu, type these commands in the command window:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6_bakup.img
exit
exit
Then reboot the phone normally, go to "My Computer --> HTC One --> Internal Storage. You'll find the mmcblk0p6_backup.img file. send it to me via PM only

just FYI, I have an M7_UL modelid: PN0710000, but on the back it says PN07140 (<- yep only 7 characters, not 9)
and I know it wasnt changed, as i bought it the UK in April 2013 (ie no S-OFF back then for the M7)
only way to tell for sure, is by getvar as @alray mentioned

PN07140 is m7_ul for south east asia I think any stock shortage led them supply this no print and PN07100 internally flashed system
but most of case both are identical until modified mid or changed housing
best way to find out hardware type is fastboot showing m7_ul or m7_wls else can be modified

Its PN0712000 not PN072000 (sprint)
PN0712000 was originally a Developer edition, Google Play Edition, At&t branded, or could be any Canadian carriers (Bell, Telus, Rogers)
The phone is s-off, supercid and PN0712000 which is good things. You can flash what you want, the simplest would be to flash the latest developer edition lollipop ruu. Ruu posted in my thread (link in my signature). But to flash a lollipop ruu, your phone must be at least on kitkat firmware or above (6.xx.xxx.x or above) so you'll first need to flash the 6.02.1540.2 full (not firmware extracted from ota) firmware and then the 7.17.1540.7 ruu.
If you want to go that route and need more help to flash these files, just ask here, unless you want to keep that x.xx.708.x version which is an Asian software version and update it to lollipop.
And btw, edit out your IMEI and SERIALNO from your getvar above, don't post these numbers.

staying on x.xx.708.x firmware and updating it to lollipop will require to change your MID. x.xx.708.x version use PN0714000 MID.
Its up to you, you can either change your mid, flash the 7.xx.708.x firmware and then the 7.xx.708.x RUU
or you can flash the 6.07.1540.2 firmware and then the 7.17.1540.7 ruu
If your phone is already sim-unlocked, it will stay unlocked, no worry.

download and save the 6.07.1540.2 stock firmware (full) zip file in the same folder you have fastboot and adb on your computer,
open a command window from this folder (or change directory to that folder in the command window).
Reboot your phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
phone will reboot in ruu mode, a black screen with silver HTC logo then:
Code:
fastboot flash zip Firmware_6.07.1540.2.zip
Wait for the process to complete, it should report something like "failed, flush image again immediately" so proceed with the same command again:
Code:
fastboot flash zip Firmware_6.07.1540.2.zip
Now it should report something like "flashed successfully". If yes you can proceed with the next command (the green progress bar on your phone might not reach 100% but its safe to proceed with the next command if fastboot reported "flashed successfully")
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
phone will now reboot in bootloader. You can now execute the 7.17.1540.7 ruu.exe, follow instructions from the application.
Remember that this will wipe everything on your phone, like if it was brand new so don't forget to backup your important files before if any.
If something goes wrong, post here, don't reboot the phone or quit the ruu mode if the second "fastboot flash zip" failed.
take your time and everything should be fine

No, phone will stay s-off unless you manually turn it back s-on by using the appropriate fastboot command. Stay s-on. Same thing for CID, it will stay supercid unless you change it using the appropriate fastboot command.
