Buying T813 - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been waiting for the s3 to come out but the price is in my view too steep (£599) so my plan was to get the T813 but it seems impossible to buy it in the UK except via Amazon. However i am reluctant to buy something this expensive from a 3rd party reseller there. Has anyone seen it sold by some more reputable seller?

I got mine Open Box on eBay for $50 less than the going rate at the time, however I saw no signs of it ever having been touched. Original factory seals were in place and it came with a 1 year parts and labor warranty, and a 60 day full refund policy both from the seller. It is now available from them for $319.99. I have had it for about four months and have never been happier with a tablet.
They shipped it immediately (free shipping) and I had it four days from the purchase date. If you are interested shoot me a PM and I will send you the info.

Thanks for the info. Can't find the store on eBay in the UK.
My main concerns about buying something like this from someone on ebay/amazing marketplace is that I'll be hung and dry if it is a problem with it.

I get that. I feel the same way, so I researched for a couple of weeks, reading feedbacks, comparing with other sales. The warranty and return policy they offer was a big selling point for me and they have a 99.7% positive feedback rating in 263396 feedbacks.

Purchased from argos
Just bought the s2 t813 from argos. Advertised as t810 but when checked in store it was the newer version. £339 if that helps.

Anyone bought G-note from ebay?

I have yet to see someone claim to have bought e-note from ebay? I see prices as low as $670 dollars (US) including shipping yet no one has reported to have bought one from them. what is the risk involved that people are still paying $740 from other places and no one seems to be taking advantage of new g-notes from ebay at cheaper prices?
I think its fear + ignorance which stops more people getting them from ebay. These things are made pretty close to Hong Kong, so its not suprising how cheap they are buying them from there through ebay. ebay used to be fairly shady too, and I think a lot of people still hold the fear of splashing $700 into a site which they may feel unsure about. However, as many of us know these days, ebay + paypal combined is an insanely safe shopping source. Not only is your sale fully ensured, but the amount of turnover most of these stores do, and the ability to access other shopper's comments does make it a really valuable source.
I'll be getting my note from ebay sometime next week (when the pay comes through), but have previously bought my SGS 1, and asus transformer from there, with NO problems, extremely quick shipping, and hundreds of dollars saved. I always recomend it
thanks for the vote of confidence. I am also thinking about getting my g-note next week through ebay.
Just read through the sellers past feedback. You should quickly see if the seller is reliable. Also read carefully through the description to see if it is new/used/damaged or if the title is wrong and they they are selling a 600$ notebook with a photo of a galaxy on it rather than a phone.
I got mine from eBay.
I bought mine from Ebay I paid 720 for it including shipping that was free. That's 2 Weeks ago prices were much higher.
It was a reputable seller and didn't have any issue the phone is running great
I went through 3 SGN's so far.. One from Amazon.de, One from Ebay.de and one from my Country which was the most expensive one but was worth the local warranty reassurance since I'm keeping this one. Received it today.
The second one from Ebay was a German model, no problems, sold it like I did with the first one from Amazon after I played around abit with it.
Anyway ALWAYS read the FEEDBACK! Even if it's a TOP Rated it means NOTHING! It might be a hacked account or a bad TopRated. Better safe than sorry.
Example: Someone is selling some SGN's in a very attractive price. Check the feedback if another person bought and received a Note from the Seller already. If the listing just came up then check it's feedback for some expensive stuff and not 2-3euros worth of items.
If the Seller has low feedback(<30-50) but it's 100% positive and every buyer is happy with him, then sent him a message first and see. He might be just a regular guy selling a Note.
Yes Ebay and Paypal did help me a couple times and they were very helpful, but Scammers will always be around.
Got mine on ebay for $760 about 3 weeks ago when they first came out. It arrived in a few days without any problem. It turn out to be a Polish model with a with a Polish provider branding.
Just rooted & loaded a custom ROM & now all OK.
I love this phone. Absolutely awesome screen.
Got mine from a Hong Kong ebayer with no problem.

Where to buy?!?!

Okay...I've been drooling over this phone for the past few weeks. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger...but I'm looking for the least expensive but most reputable online dealer to make my purchase. I'm in the USA so it would have to be imported.
Suggestions? Experiences? Warranty issues? I'm all ears. Let me know what your experience has been with the different online retailers.
Cheers!
Trey

Good Point! eBay is probably the one place I haven't looked! Thanks man!
Amazon has a few sellers offering them for around 650. they're also fulfillment so you get free 2 day shipping.
I'm also getting ready to pull the trigger.
If you're just looking for a cheap price, eBay has Australian Notes on sale, which I think is the cheapest of them all due to currency fluctuations.
Anybody know of a seller that does international shipping that has a REALLY lenient return policy? I tend to have horrible luck with displays and don't want to get stuck with one with defects (I once had to return five LCD monitors in a row because each one had more than two dead/stuck pixels! Also, my current Cellphone, a Streak, has an always-on stuck red pixel).
Given the fact that AMOLED screens slowly develop defects, I would really like to find a seller that offers 14+ day return policy with little or no expense on my part, in case I end up making multiple returns.
I found this in another thread but Integrontech has them for $650 also. Here's the link: http://www.integrontech.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-N7000-16GB-Unlocked-Black-p/sam-n7000.htm
I've never used them...so I'm not sure how reputable they are.
I did buy my i9100 from expansys USA and it was perfect! Fast shipping. Never had any trouble with the hardware...so I never dealt with the warranty part. But my experience with them was very good.
Might pay to be a little more patient, I'm thinkin' there will be at least another 50 drop post Christmas.
Just a thought and I could be wrong so...
Be nice to use that extra savings towards accessories though IMHO
When I first started lookin' I couldn't find one below 730.00 so if I can get one for six I can that custom leather case I want and break even there.

Hello! Link please
I've got friends who would buy this for me in either India or Australia.
Where would I have either one of them shop in their respective countries to get me one? Is it worth it, plus shipping, or should I just drop $650 on Ebay? I mean, from what I saw the exchange rate, 35,000 Indian Rupees (MSRP) is $660.

I see amazon is listed as an official vendor which makes me curious.
+ there is no warranty on international phones imported to U.S. because the official U.S. versions are the ones sold by the damn carriers via at&t , verizon etc.

Yeah, I saw that, but the arrival date was in 2012.
Newegg had free 2-day shipping (shoprunner free year trial) and I had a $20 coupon from google.
So, $679 and I'll have it Monday. Plus there is a free charger thingy thrown in, so that's a plus.
I just really hope my unlimited data isn't f-d around with after putting my sim in...

Doesn't the GT prefix indicate the IMEI will be considered a tablet? Some listings omit the GT prefix...I think these are the Polish/Netherland version that doesn't flag ATT as a tablet...
Hmmm...it appears the white one is going for $800 still, while the black(ish) one is $650ish. I'm debating on importing 5 or 6 of these to see if I can pay for mine.

I bought mine off of Amazon using Amazon Prime and it came the next day for only an additional $4. Definitely worth it.
Since you just missed out on the 1saleaday.com price of $585 yesterday, I say your next best option is what the poster above me stated: Amazon

Again, Amazon.. it does not get more "reputable" than that. ordered mine today for ~$620
Got mine off ebay from a top seller so I knew it would be legit.
Got mine too from Amazon...
Guess its almost unanimous...
Thanks for your your input everyone..can you guys comment on 3rd party warranties I can purchase for the Note?
Those who bought from Amazon, can you tell me the name of the reseller and which country the phone came from?
Majority of the Note sold in Amazon is not from Amazon, but from 3rd party seller.

Yes, just like the above, it's sold by 3rd party company called MasterDeals. So if I have issue with the phone after 30 days, I'd have to deal with MasterDeals and NOT Amazon.
For example, some seller will tell you EXACTLY which country it came from and how to submit warranty work. Some seller, when I contacted them, like PVCS Popular (a reseller in Amazon), REFUSED to tell me where the phone comes from, so I AVOID buying from them.
That's why I am wondering which 3rd party reselller in Amazon you bought the Note from and if you have any issues.
If you are massively concerned over warranty you should buy the ATT Note instead as the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is not sold or supported by Samsung in the USA.. it effectively is what the camera firms would call "grey market"..
You may be able to purchase a warranty for some outrageous price, or you can work on the "if it works for a week its likely fine" principle which is accurate for consumer electronics 99.999% of the time... I choose the latter.
The best i can suggest is to purchase one where the supply is 'fulfilled by Amazon".. then it is Amazon on the hook.. but even if there is some warranty trail none of this helps if it takes three months to send off and return your device, along with a $100 shipment charge..
I got mine from an ebay seller in Singapore (roseXXXXX). I bought it for 603 but right now it's 605. I also had an ebay code for 10% off which took off 60 dollars AND I bought it the day ebay had DOUBLE THE EBAY BUCKS night, so I earned 28 dollars in ebay bucks! That's a 88 dollars I saved off of 603 price!
EDIT: i want to add than with the 88 dollars I saved, i bought an 80 dollar Sandisk 64GB class 6 micro SD card (from adorama when it was on sale). And with the remaning 8 bucks, i bought a screen protector and a clear case from ebay. What a great deal for me.

No, Samsung WILL accept warranty work if you ship it to them. I have bought many phone from out of country (Nokia, Samsung, Sony-Ericsson) and when it need warranty work, I ship it to country where I bought it from and include the pre-paid UPS package. I rather pay about $100 in shipping that COMPLETELY lost $600 because the phone no longer works.
As a matter of fact, one of the reseller in Amazon (Global Mobile), told me their phone is from Germany and comes with 2 years Samsung warranty and even offered to ship the Note to them for warranty work and they'll take care of the shipping and communication between Samsung Germany and them. Unfortunately, they're out of stock of the Note, otherwise I'll buy it from them.
In the case of the reseller I mentioned in my previous post, PVCS, they didn't want to tell me where the Note come from. So if I need warranty work, which country I need to send it to? German, Mexico, UK?

BTW, Amazon is NOT on the hook. Amazon is responsible for fulfillment (shipping, credit card charges, etc.) but not warranty work.
If you buy, say a MacBook from Amazon (not 3rd party reseller in Amazon), they'll take care of it for the first 30 days (DOA, missing shipment, etc.), but beyond that, you'll have to go to Apple.
I ordered mine from Expansys. Apparently they've got a European office that'll handle any warranty troubles with Samsung.

Any info on when Best Buy will have this in store?

I am wondering if anyone knows when local Best Buy stores will sell this? I have seen a lot of problems on here so I am waiting for it to be available in store I think...
I am not sure when or if they will, but it cost them a sale. I would have paid a little extra to buy it locally. However, I ended up paying about $450.00 for it online and that included a two year warranty that covered drops, spills, etc! From what I have read so far, most of the issues seem to be with the dock. I did not get that anyway. I was already paying the limit of what I would pay for a tablet, and I think $150.00 is too much for a plastic dock, especially if it has quality issues.
Yeah I want to get it locally too but will probably buy off Amazon when its no longer under review and back for sale from Amazon again.

Yeah. Its not coming from amazon which is why its more money.
I was also waiting for this to be at Best Buy to get in stores, but they might not have it physically available... But you can order it in stores and it'll come in a few days for the price its listed for on their site or order it online and have it delivered to your local best buy. This could be easier in case of returns... I did this a last month with a 3rd party DLSR lens that was listed on their site on sale and was not available in stores and it came in 5days after I placed the order and paid for it in the store.
Also, just checked and Amazon has both the tablet and dock shipping directly from them.
Has best buy ever had the 16 gb version online? I've only ever seen the 32. Hoping to buy it there because I have some credit.
Edit: never mind, there is no 16 gb. Thinking of something else.

I was in my local Best Buy store recently, and asked an employee if they knew if when they were getting the TF701 in stores. The employee told me that more than likely, it would always be an item that is only available online. Of course this employee may very well be wrong, but they did seem to be very familiar with the TF701, whereas many other Best Buy employees seem to have never even heard of it before. Either way, it has definitely been available long enough to be in stores by now! This leads me to believe that the employee I questioned was correct. If it never makes it to store shelves for hands-on experiences, that's bad news for the TF701...

Better to buy "new" international version or refurbished from Best Buy?

So I got one on amazon that was supposed to be new and a us warrantied model.
Turns out it's not a us model. Also the box wasn't sealed and Sony says that the warranty info says it would expire over a month prior to a year past my purchase date... indicating to them that it has been previously activated.
I noticed best buy occasionally has them refurbished with a 90 day geek squad warranty.
Any thoughts on which is the better option?
Thanks in adavance
I wouldn't buy a refurbished phone, but that's just me. Too bad you can't get the US version sold by Amazon anymore, and too bad that seller shafted you - looks like they are the only NEW seller on Amazon currently.
Do you have any international sellers in mind? Perhaps depending on the vendor, you could at least have some kind of return option for the worst case scenario of a DOA phone.
I hope you can get this all resolved. And partly because I'm hoping you'll share the exact steps you take to get root/fingerprint/t-mo all working on the phone so I can replicate it. Good luck.

I'm sort of leaning towards the international one, but i have my doubts that this one they sent me is new. I should have no problem flashing the modified firmware to keep the fingerprint sensor and enable wifi calling/vo-lte. I just worry about the battery lifespan mostly.
Regardless by the time I'm finished unlocking and rooting I won't be sending it in to sony for any repairs.

I would feel exactly the same. The battery unknown is a big reason why I would avoid refurbed phones. Even though you bought from a 3rd party on Amazon, you should have some protections from amazon, especially in the case where the item is not as described. Sounds like you have proof of that, so I would pursue trying to return that.
As far as where to get a replacement though, I'm not sure, unless you want to buy from a European supplier such as Clove.

Never heard of Clove. Pretty reputable? As long as exchange is good it should still come in under $400 us.
I've actually asked the amazon company if they would exchange for a sealed in box model or give me a discount since it wasn't as described. They have pretty good feedback, I just worry about the battery.
I recently got a brand new international model from Ebay.

I haven't personally used Clove, but they've been mentioned by XDA users over the years as a good source of unlocked phones. Or, like Dean says, there is always Ebay if you end up having to return your Amazon phone.

At least here in Germany the phones did not come sealed (we bought 3 phones so far) and the Warranty started at a date that was much earlier than our purchase date. Dropping an email to Sony fixed the problem
I'd get a new one, and it's not like region matters if you're planning to flash an international firmware to get the fingerprint sensor working anyway

This is a good find, but why you guys do not recommend buying used phones from Amazon? For example this one: Amazon.de blue xz1c.
I mean, the only concern would be the battery, right? Because there is no info about how much and for how long it has been used.
I am also looking for auctions on eBay.

Assuming I got a fair exchange rate it would still be right around $400 us for a new one. Even if shipping it here wasn't crazy expensive I'd still have to wait for it.
