Android Ice Cold ProjectAICP is known by everyone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!
In the beginning we would like to thank:

Features
I know this is kind of a random question but does this have less customization options then RR? I find RR just has way to many for me to ever care about so I'm trying to find a nice mix between LOS and RR. More options then Lineage but less then RR.

I've been doing this for well over five years since the days of the original Galaxy S, and you didn't answer my question at all.
What I asked was does this have lesser features then RR but more then LOS and stated I find RR has features I don't use while LOS doesn't have enough. So are you gonna answer my simple question?

Your question is way too vague. Just flash it and see if you like it, then you can report to us how the features compare.
Is this ROM going to become official?

In short yes. It is exactly that....More that LOS but not as many as RR

First of all, it's amazing how far Mi5 has come in terms of development and developer attention. There was a time when all this subforum had was 2-3 unofficial TWRPs, and that's it.
Now there are an amazing number of ROMs available. But the increase in variety has brought with it increasing confusion. A lot of the features overlap. Which ROM to flash? Do we just keep on cycling between them till we find the best match for us?
So I would appreciate if we could document the differences between the various ROMs in terms of features, stability, lack of bloat, etc., to help users choose the one suited to them.
@33bca, your input would particularly help, since you've provided almost half the ROMs in this subforum.
Marshmallow:
Official CM 13 (stable snapshots)
-really light
-boots really fast
-no network traffic indicator
AOSP (JDC)
-has substratum theme engine
Dirty Unicorns
PAC-ROM
AOSP-CAF
Paranoid Android
AICP
Mokee
Old ROMs (not recommended):
Hexagon
AOKP
crDroid
BeanStalk
SlimROM
Tipsy-OS
H2OS
BlissROM
ZephyrOS
Resurrection Remix
-quite a heavy ROM (system takes up 10GB )
-boots slower than CM 13
-fast charging LED blinking issue still exists
Nougat: (CM theme engine and firewall missing for relevant ROMs)
Lineage OS 14.1 (Official)
AOSP JDC (OMS) (Official)
CypherOS 3.5.1
AICP (Official)
AOKP
BeanStalk
Resurrection Remix 5.8 (OMS)
Slim 7 (OMS)
SlimDragon 1.1 (OMS) (Official)
Nitrogen OS
crDroid 1.9
Mokee
Zephyr OS 6.1 (OMS) (Official)
XOSP 7.2
XenonHD
DU 11 (OMS)
Xiaomi.eu
UnitedMIUI
In my personal opinion, at this stage, the only Marshmallow ROM you should consider flashing anew is CM 13 because it's the only one with weeklies, and hence actively maintained. The other ROMs will not be maintained as the developers have moved to the Nougat ROM base.
All Marshmallow ROMs except CM13 contain the laggy performance bug below 5% battery.
The nougat ROMs so far are quite stable and usable.
There's just the issue of a missing CM theme engine on CM based ROMs, which is easily resolved by using Substratum Legacy. The OMS compatible ROMs of course can use the latest Substratum framework.
There are little features missing here and there, which probably won't affect usage for a majority of people:
In the WiFi menu, we can't select WiFi frequency between 2.4 GHz, 5 GHZ, and automatic.
Your input is right, having more roms dont mean basicly its better. You have more roms to chose, thats right, but you also have more roms which are basicly the same with the same features.
My experience is, that all the roms with a lot of modifications (like DU, AICP, RR, Beanstalk and so on) are basicly the same, they have an external app for all modifications and near the same options.
Other roms like Paranoid Android, AOSCP, JDC and Cyanogenmod, try to keep the system clean while they still offer some modifications built into the system app to keep the AOSP feeling.
AOSP is AOSP, there i dont have to say much about
Thanks, man. So is it fair to say that DU, AICP, RR and such can be clubbed into the same category, as in "Install any, they're all the same", while it would be more useful to differentiate between AOSP, JDC AOSP, CM, AOSCP and so on?
I'm unwilling to flash ROM after ROM to find out the differences between them. If anyone has the experience of flashing two or more ROMs, please contribute to this thread so that it can become a useful guide to people. I'll keep adding the info to the OP.
Is there a bugs free custom ROM based on cm13 or cm14 so far? What about Mokee?
@selmandeli The best you're going to get is of course the relatively stable weeklies of official CM13. Since it is being maintained by an official CM developer and has had several months to mature, a lot of bugs have been fixed.
Apart from that, most of the 6.0.1 ROMs should be fine, even though they're unofficially built, as the code base is stable and only some kernel changes were needed, which, thanks to the awesome dedication of bgcngm and h2o64, we have.
No 7.1 based ROM is stable yet, since the CM code base is being actively updated. Even here, your best bet is the unofficial CM 14.1, since the developer maintains and fixes bugs himself.
The other 7.1 ROMs depend on CM development, and additionally on whoever their active developers are. The guys we have do a great job of keeping the respective code bases up to date though.

Nope. When it seemed like most of the bugs were gone, and devs could then focus on it, Nougat code was dropped. Now there's again a mad rush to get the major bugs out on Nougat ROMs.

@andy356 Thanks for your precious feedback, it helps to understand the difference between the different ROMs. May I ask you to do an update version of your feedback since a lot a things have changed recently.
Thanks man!
@nicoula91 Right now I have a stable Marshmallow ROM that I want to stick to until Nougat ROMs become stable enough. When I'm ready to flash a new one I'll take that opportunity to flash all the Nougat ROMs and look at what's different. That sounds really troublesome, though.
These are experimental builds and things may be broken. It will have patches directly from gerrit and may be from other roms too. Stay with official build if you want Stable Rom.

Hi,
i'm new on Kenzo, i give a try.
its not the 1rst time that a rom change my MAC ADRESS. but its not a problem here.
then, i keep this rom some hours, or days maybe, as it support OMS and that the only one thing i need working actualy, i change many rom by week , its my way of using device today.
so , i clean flash (factory reset, wipe system/data/cache) rom + nano gapps + tbo and superuser.zip.
no trouble for my use but if OP need me to test something specialy while i'm on this rom, let me know.
thanks.

fingerprint is the biggest issue in almost kenzo's custom N roms..
no single rom can make both fpc and goodix works without add-on..
so if you build goodix version of AOSiP, it would a big difference from official..
anyway, great job and this is a great rom..
How does the signal strength in this rom compare to official?
I m on official Aosip because of this reason.

ALL ROMS:
Volume rocker wake - Highly requested due to the Nexus 5's failing power button. Most roms don't have this feature. Only Liquid Remix seems to have it.

I must admit: the acip 13.1 is outstanding!!!! It has a LOT of customization possibilities. Thank you Soo much !!

Bliss 10.0 Beta is highly buggy. Use AICP for now if you want a hands on 8.1.
I have terrible battery life with AICP 8.1. 1:30 screen time and the battery is at 15%. Anyone else with that problem?

Ambient display not working on AICP 13.1's latest build.
Having used AICP 13.1 I can say the battery life was terrible and there were some times when the UI felt like lagging. I suggest Liquid Remix 8.5 28/12/2017 out of them all. Good battery life for an Android 8 ROM plus it has lots of tweakings to do in the kernel and it doesn't feel as laggy.
aicp
security lock cannot work
is it normal that none of the oreo roms provide hardware acceleration on videos? they're always very pixelated. ive tried liquid rom aicp etc.
I'm facing an issue with Bliss 10.0 where either Setup Wizard and SystemUI keep crashing after booting into the OS. This occurs on a clean flash (with all partitions wiped). I'll try the latest AICP 13.1 build and report back.
Edit: This seems to be an issue with Gapps. I installed AICP without flashing Gapps.
Edit 2: Reinstalling Google Play Services from APKMirror fixed all issues with Gapps. Everything works perfectly.
Edit 3: Sound seems to be mysteriously broken! There is no audio from the speaker. I'm investigating the issue, and will report back.
Edit 4: Formatting /system and reflashing the ROM brought the audio back. I'm investigating what caused this to occur.

It's a similar thread but different. And to be the most useful and visible, I decided it should have its own thread. I mean no disrespect.
Recent activity lock is not working for me on LR 8.5.
Also is there any way to change font? Anyone tried it on LR 8.5?
@Xaif started this thread, then get too busy and abandoned it (it seems he does update it occasionally), then @abemore continued the thread, but also abandoned it after his N5 died. Now I decided to maintain this list. I'll try to keep this maintained for all of us with a N5 that's still kicking .
Sorry for the long time between updates, my N5 is having wifi issues so I'm trying not to wipe my device very often, making me forget about this list. Another factor is that there aren't any new roms coming out, just updates to existing roms, so it isn't that big of a deal if it isn't updated that often.
Issues on All ROMs:
Bluetooth Calling audio bug (I haven't tested this as I rarely ever make or recieve phone calls)
Face Unlock crashes when you try to add a face (Fix can be found here)
Video Recording issues (A fix can be found here, but i cannot confirm if it works or not as my camera is messed up physically)

Is first ever android project ROM working fine???
Are there any issues?
What about the avg. battery life?
I know this question has been asked many times in the previous two threads, but since this is a new one, and for people just hooking on it...
To the date of January 10, is any 8.1 rom stable enough to use as a daily driver or are we better of with a 8.0 rom?
And which would better suit the needs of a only device daily driver?
I'm currently on DarkRom Nougat and looking for a similar experience on Oreo.

I actually just switched over to FirstEver and I've encountered no problems as of yet. I'm not too sure about battery life as this is my second day with the rom, but it at least isn't outstandingly bad.

FirstEver is currently the most stable I've tried and seems to be stable enough for a daily driver. I've not run into any problems with it, other then it's slow for about 30 seconds after you turn it on, but is plenty fast after that.

All you have to do is copy the ROM folder to: Phone Memory \ TWRP \ BACKUPS \ {Phone ID} \
In TWRP open Restore and select First Ever ROM, one more swip and done - it cannot be simpler

You should try liquid remix 8.5. I haven't encountered any bugs other than recents activity lock isn't working for me. Batttery life is great for me. I get 3 hr SOT. And man the kernel! There are so many governers. I have been using it as my daily driver for about a month now and no problems at all.

You need Nova Launcher Prime for this functionality which is paid version. Just saying.

Right I think most Oreo ROMs for Hammerhead has double tap on navigation or status bar to sleep option.

Because 8.0 is not under development anymore my guess is doesn't have it. But you can create TWRP backup and tried it if you want to know ?

We don't have the governors but we have some MPdecision-replacement and some schedulers are still there! We can now also control the volume gain but I'm not sure if the settings stick after reboot and/or do anything at all(EX kernel for example has the settings but are useless)
