Chromecast and Hue lights - Google Chromecast

Is there anyway to automate hue lights to dim when phone is connected to chromecast and get bright again when disconnected. I've searched everywhere any can not find any way to do this. Thanks in advance!

LED under the earpiece?

I have had the phone for about a week now and I love it, however one of my big complaints is that the active notifications do not show any battery info, charging or percentage blah blah blah. My phone died the other night and when it was plugged in it had a bright green LED under the earpiece. Any other time I've plugged it in it has never come on. Does anyone know why it would come on one time and never again? Has anyone else seen this elusive LED?

I saw this on a display model at ATT with a dead battery. The earpiece was lit by a green LED.
maybe try lightflow?

I thought the same thing, and I played around with it a little and couldn't get the light to come on. I'm just curious because motorola made the point that LED's don't give any information like active notifications give, yet they still put one on the phone. It just appears it barely ever comes on.
We definitely need to figure this out!

Never seen an LED on mine, but very interested in this. Would be awesome to enable it!

Anyone figure this out? I saw the same light under same circumstances but can't control it.

LED Light Answer
Found the answer in the owner's manual, of all places, on the page "At a Glance" with the illustration of the phone's features. The arrow in the diagram points more or less to the sensor right next to the earpiece. That small oblong is not just the light sensor to turn off the screen when you have the phone up to your ear. It also houses the Low Battery LED. Sometimes it really does pay to read the instructions, however boring they may be.
Low Battery LED:
This LED lights up when you plug in your
charger and the smartphone’s battery level is too low to
power on the display. It means that your smartphone is
charging and will be ready to use shortly.

Knowing that Motorola's way of Notification LED was their Active Display, it would be redundant to have the Notification LED too.
Even with root there's no physical way to enable this light in other circumstances?
I emailed LightFlow and got this reply:
Hi
Sadly it doesn't really have much led hardware in it. There's one
green led which I think can only be controlled with root access from
the experiments I've tried with a user.
Cheers

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that the LED in the earpiece was connected directly to the charging hardware found on the MotoX. What does this mean? It means we will probably never be able to take advantage of it. It's nothing the software can take control of.

Oh well, worth a try!

[Q] Disable notification LED lights when docking..?

I keep my phone docked near my bed when I go to sleep, and I like keeping my room on super darkness..
Unfortunately the phone ruins that for me..
The orange LED for charging is perhaps accepted but if I receive a message / whatsapp / email .. the blinking LED would make my room to an awesome party club..
Is there a way to SHUSSH it out?
to put it on a silence mode or something that when I'm docking you and its nighty time, you don't show me the damn lights..
I'm sleeping you stupid! your suppose to be smart-phone. aren't ya..?
I tried to use Tasker app for this,
Condition: Docked + proper times..
But couldn't find task that remove LED lights or something..
How about you experts?
Could you think of any solution for this please?
Help will be extra appreciated!

settings/display/pulse notification light. check it off. that should stop the blinking, but doesn't turn off the red/orange/green charging light.
I know it isn't ideal but I keep a little bit of masking tape next to my dock, just stick it gently over the LED and boom...sorted.

You should see the extension lead next to my bed, it has some silly little LEDs in it to tell you which socket is powering something...I gave up and covered the thing in tape, all except the actual holes.

This really seems to be a problem with several Sony devices. I don't understand what Sony is doing there ...
I'm currently searching all threads here but didn't find any working solution for a similar problem with a Sony Z3
I already invested a lot of time in finding a proper solution for the Z3, but maybe here someone found a solution in the meantime which would also help for the Z3?
Any tips highly welcome.
Just fyi.
I found Light Manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager) to solve the problem at least partially (see also http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/light-flow-t2889567/page3#post57060492)
What are we, savages? Duct tape over the phone? Unacceptable. You might as well smash it with a hammer. )))
Leaving joke aside I found your fix. I've tested it on my XZ stock rom. You need to be rooted and with xposed framework installed.
Module is called XLED. It allows you to control charging light, and per app setting. Tested with whatsapp, hangouts and pushbullet.
Install it, activate the module and reboot.
You can disable the led control anytime and reenable on the go without reboot. (it has the switch inside the app).
You're welcome.

Hey Sebi673,
Thanks a lot for the feedback. Your suggestion is great and it would help a lot if it would be my device which needs to be "fixed".
Though the problem is, that it is the device of my girlfriend and I would really like to avoid rooting her phone.
This is really something I should have remarked upfront. Sorry and thanks again for your feedback.
Best,
Tom
How do you install that XLED module?
My Xperia Z2 tablet is simply awful when you cannot turn off that damned led. 99% of the time it sits in the docking station acting as a digital photo frame and the led is blinding at night and distracting during the day.
Try this plastered app - works quick and we'll on my z5 compact:

[Q] Screen won't switch on and neither will the charging led

Hi guys,
My mobile phone seems to have a not working screen. The weird thing is that the backlights work and I can connect via adb, but the screen and the charging led will not.
Do you think it could be because of a faulty or not connected wire? I want to make sure that changing the screen would solve the problem before buying one.
Thanks!
Update: I just noticed that the screen is on but extremely dim. It´s not possible to see anything at all.
Could be LED backlight

Yes, the mobile works normally. It's just that the charging led (the one on top of the screen) won't work and the screen is extremely dark. It's almost impossible to see anything unless you are in a room with just a little light.
The brightness is set to 100%. It's probable a faulty screen or a loose connection but I would like to find a way to know if that's the case

so it's not a screen setting or bad app, and not likely a software issue.
It could be a bad screen LCD connection, but guessing the LCD screen needs to be replaced.
can buy a new LCD for about $30 on ebay, but maybe more trouble that it's worth

could have someone else fix it

or it's time for a new phone
I will try to fix it myself. The price of getting a new one will be similar to the price of sending it to repair so that would make no sense.
Thank you very much, sd_shadow

Light flow... Does it work?

Anybody tried light flow yet?
Works like a sharm! No root necessary. The new notification light is much better then the speaker built in thing from the z1c.
Tested "Light Manager" and that works, too.
Can't seem to change the charging led though
Yup, I have the paid for version of Light Flow setup and working perfectly!

I've been able to sort of fix this using Light Manager. I select a really dark color (almost black) for both charging and fully charged set it to be always on (no blinking).
It's kinda finicky, though, and sometimes it takes a few moments until it LM takes over from the built in notification light. For me, Light Manager works better than Light Flow. YMMV, it's possible to do this with both of them.

Just wanted to say that I have done this with Light Flow and it works great. It still shows the default charging colours when the screen is on, but when it's off it uses the ones in light flow. The trick is to use anything but totally black. I set it with the HEX code to FF000001 and it works.
That is on a full-size Z3 but I can't imagine the hardware is different regarding LEDs.
I use light manager and it does work with a dark colour to set the charging/charged led colour. (dark blue)
BUT
When I use sleep mode (so I get to notification lights) the charging/charged trick doesn't work ....
So I have to dissable sleep mode
anyone has a solution for this?
Lightflow doesn't seem to work for me neither.
Is there any other option without rooting the device (no option, as it's for the device of my girlfriend)
Works perfectly for me. Keep trying. Make sure it's enabled in settings security notification access.

Blue light filter

Just noticed, the blue light filter takes a few seconds or more to engage after screen is brought back from standby mode. Pretty irritating.
Example viewing a page within Samsung browser, screen times out ( has to time out )then I press the home button to turn screen back on, blue light filter is off now for a good few seconds or unless I go into the settings screen.

I thought it was just me. I looked around to see if anyone else was having it in other threads but I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. Mine is really delayed that I need to turn it off and turn it back on. Sometimes I wait over a minute til it activates so I just end up having to toggle it off and on since it's faster... Unfortunately
