Hello, I was wondering if there was a root for OF3 on the S5 Active. So far, I have found nothing, but If there was a root for OF3 5.0 on the S5 Active, could someone send me a link for it?
How bout u just do some reading first ... Ur questions only been asked 9000000000 times people really get tired of answering the same questions over and over and over .... It would have taken you a few minutes to read thru some of these threads and found your answer ....
How about instead of whining and complaning I haven't been reading, can you answer my question? I have been reading all over this forum, and some people are saying they have it and some don't. I have been reading, and all I want is an answer to my question. So, Is there or is there not?
yeah that was a very rude response to a valid question. i've been searching for hours because i just got in my G870A from EBAY that was supposed to be at 4.4.2 but its at 5.0 there were some newer posts from december that indicated the same fix for the G900A worked for out G870A but when i got into it it was saying to download a rom for G900A.... looks like that was some sort of mistake that i dont think will work. so unless someone can please answer your question i'm guessing the answer is NO

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 4G Telstra and was going to root it.
Can someone please explain the process to unroot it once an update is released?
I know 4.1.2 jellybean is going to be released soon and i saw this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066767&page=3 but am unsure if it is branded or stock?
Also what is the best application to make a full backup of all apps and data?
Cheers
Stop wasting space&time and start using search button& brain instead.... Dozen of same useless threads asking same things over and over again......
Seriously??? It's not so complicated...
My advise: create One thread and name it "I'm a total Noob and have million questions" and post all your issues there....
Point taken but could have been said a bit nicer.
Hey all,
I am in the N900A NC2 4.4.2 boat and I want out!
Do we really need root to install a different ROM?
Can't we push somehow e.g. CM on the phone using Odin, or something?
I just want to make my Note 3 livable till Nexus 6 comes out
~S
I sometimes wonder why the search function even exists...
Yes you need root access to install custom roms via safestrap.
You need an unlocked bootloader to install a custom recovery and flash roms.
The latest 4.4.2 release ending with NC2 has a locked bootloader and does not have root access. Currently there is no way to obtain it.
Please follow forum rules and search before posting a question that has probably been answered. Try reading the general section and the sticked posts. One's like "[INDEX] AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 All-In-One Resource Thread!" might be able to help with unanswered questions. If you still can't find your answers and it's support related, please post a question in the stupid question threads. They are in most sections. This is a development site, not a support site.
Root Might Be accessible today at 12pm CT

Root might be available.

Im by no means new to the rooting community, but I'm drawing a blank on finding the information I need. Maybe just having a blind day lol.
But is there anyway to root the AT&T Galaxy S5 on Lollipop?

This has been asked and answered SEVERAL TIMES in SEVERAL THREADS. If you are on G900A and took the OTA to 5.0 you are screwed, no root and no downgrade. If you are on G870A (S5 Active) then you can downgrade, root, and reupgrade with keep root through muniz_ri method or flash a custom ROM like TMS5 or Alliance. I'm feeling the need to make a Lollipop 5.0 Q&A thread so new threads asking week old questions can stop cluttering up the forums.
Well since this post has obviously butthurt someone will a mod please delete. Thanks.

Not trying to be an azzhole but there is a search function for a reason...if you had done a search for your question you would've answered it by reading within a couple mins.

Lol, no thanks, i love this phone, just asking xD
Hey all,
Came from the HTC family, loving my new Note 5 however I want to know what's the best way rooting my Note 5 without tripping (knox?) from what I read. Also, do I need a custom rom install after rooting it? My main priority is to root the phone so I could install (adblocker and retrieve files that non-root files able to recover)
Model number SM-N920l and on Telstra (Aus)
Any instructions/tips would be great.
My best advice? Read around a bit before you do anything and all your questions will be answered. I'm not being rude but the main question you asked is one of the most regularly answered.
The answer is you cannot root without tripping Knox. And once it has been tripped, it can't be undone.
So, as I said, read around a bit and you'll find all the answers you need and won't something you'll later regret

Thank you for your unhelpful advice. I already read around, I created a thread solely so I could get some clarifications before I proceed or if anyone could guide me which is the best thread to start with.
Great way to start. The problem is that if you had read you would have seen at least 3 threads in Q and A which tell you rooting always trips Knox.
Most of us here are eager to help but would rather help those who help themselves first, otherwise the forum becomes clogged with the same questions.
So simple answers: you can't root without tripping Knox.
If you want to root, there are clear threads in General and Android Development which show you what to do, with instructions. Look for anything by dr.ketan and you won't go far wrong.
Oh, and if you do decide to root and then go back to stock unrooted, your phone will not deep sleep unless you install one of the fixes. Again, there are threads in General.

Hello everyone!
I have been meaning to root my G900A for a while and I am having a hell of a time finding accurate information. I'm sure there has been a hundred threads before me. Places say its impossible and others say to rollback. I have looked through many threads and just need a definitive answer. I am on Android 5.0 OF3. Please, any information is greatly appreciated!

No, not on OF3 from AT&T.
If you have received the official AT&T update for OC4, OF2, or OF3 or later, then there is no way to root, and if you try to downgrade you will end up bricking your device.
See the Note section at http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3149146
Thank you for the reply. Well that is a shame.. Have the only phone that is super locked down. Looks like this will go on Craigslist and I might just go pick up a Nexus 5x.
Sorry I double posted so I removed my comment from here.
Short answer no...please see your other post on this same topic for the full answer. Please only post once for the same question!
I thought I post it once and it didn't take so I tried again and saw my post

Well this sucks, out of all the Galaxy's I've bought, why did this one have to end up root-less? :/
Are there even attempts (I am guessing not at this point in time) of rooting this device? It will for ever be root-less :'(
There is root, this is an old thread.
