Import and run Slide inside Application - Android Studio

Good morning / afternoon / evening !!!
I need to open a slide either in PPTX or PPSX or in Google DOC format (it has to be Slide)
But within the Application, I do not want to download an application when I open or open another application
In summary I wanted a slideshow player, or classes that would allow me to execute this
The idea of the project is an application, with some slides and one can access the slides (again, no doubt download the apk for this, I want to run inside the application)
Could someone also help me with this?

WP7 - Storeing documents and PDFs to HD7

Hi
Does anyone know how to store documents and PDFs to the HD7? I can create documents on the phone but not transfer anything from my old HD2.
People on other threads mentioned skydrive, but I can only find an option to load photos there.
We need Dropbox !
I think for now the only way to work with the storage of docs is via SharePoint
Ian
I was wondering how to go about doing this myself!
I little testing later and here are some options that worked:
Ahem!emailthemtoyourselfAhem! This does work and you can save the files to your phone after downloading the attachments (by default the attachments weren't download when the email was synced).
How WP7 does this is quite different to Windows desktop or Windows Mobile 6.5. Clicking on the attachment in the email will only open it; a long press does nothing. If it's a word file, there is then there is the option to 'save as' which allows you to modify the file name should you wish but only allows you to save to 'Office Hub'. Once you do this, the file is added to the second pivot list or column in the Office Hub (‘Documents’).
Note: Adding further office files such that the list will no longer fit on the screen will make the list vertically scrollable.
Skydrive and Office Live seem to be fully functional using the included WP7 IE browser. I was able to browse through my Skydrive files and folders and was even able to create and edit a new word document - all from within the browser.
Downloading an individual file takes a bit of careful finger work – just clicking on it automatically opens the file or folder but if you long press (which brings up the ‘open in new tab/share’ dialogue) and then click again in an empty part of the screen to hide the popup again, it will only highlight the file (as mousing over would do on the PC). This then allows you to select the more > download options.
The best and least pain free option for transferring files from Skydrive is to simply put everything you want on your phone in one Skydrive folder and use the ‘download folder as zip’ option. This method allows you to then open and save each individual file in the zip to the Office Hub. The limitation of this method is that the zip file doesn’t appear to be saved locally – it appears to open in the browser and only lets you open each file individually.
Note: It looks like currently there is no way to ‘save’ a pdf file on the device apart from as a downloaded email attachment. Hmm, not ideal if you like looking at large pdfs!
Each WP7 app has it's own isolated storage area. Unfortauntely, apps cannot acccess storage space belonging to other apps. The only exception here so far seems to be the Pictures storage; many apps can read and write to this.
I would expect in future OS updates we will have better access to shared storage areas (well hopefully).
The solution I've been using for now is Dropbox. I upload my PDF files there, then navigate to http://m.dropbox.com in IE. Use your WiFi of course. When you tap on a file in your dropbox it will open in Adobe Reader.
Later on, if you open Adobe Reader from the app list then you will have access to previously downloaded PDFs. Simples!
In the next software update they are going to bring skydrive into the office app.
Has there been any advancements yet?
It does seem silly that I don't have a documents folder or indeed that WP7 doesn't mirror my computer architecture.
Am uploading my PDF's to drop box, once i've accessed and opened them from my phone, am I then able to save them on to the storage card?
How the hell do I get a PDF on to my HD7?
I've tried emailing it to myself. I see it in hotmail, but every single time I attempt to download it, it fails.
I tried Dropbox. I see it in the browser, but no option to save.
I uploaded it to Skydrive, again, I see it but no option to save, only 'open in new tab' and 'share'.
This is utterly ridiculous, only MS could take a task as simple as saving a PDF to a device and turn it into a nightmare.
I'm usually quite apt with computers, this has me completely stumped though.
Are you sure the PDF file is not corrupt? Do you even have Adobe Reader installed?
Picking a random smallish PDF file:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf
Entering that into IE on the phone downloads it, and offers the option to view it.
Having viewed it, it now appears in the Adobe Reader app. Long press on the filename gives me the option to delete it.
The same goes for skydrive (accessed through IE), and if I email the PDF file to myself.
Although the methods previously suggested might work, and they do with several limitation, I wouldn't advise them as they will either leave your files lost in the middle of hundreds of e-mails or pile your office hub in a completely unorganized fashion.
My solution is much better; simply create OneNote notebooks, organized anyway you see fit, insert your files and sync them to SkyDrive.
When you sync them with your WP phone you will have your pdf files organized and always available.
Cheers

[Q] "Complete" Word Processor for G-Tab

I have both DocumentsToGo, and QuickOffice on my G-Tab. DocsToGo will let you open a Word Doc, but when you go to edit, it opens a new edit dialog with the previous sentence (at most) visible. It does not seem to allow you to edit many formatting options, and I can't see any way to use it to insert an image file into a document. QuickOffice lets you edit inline, but otherwise seems to have the same limitations.
Is there a "complete" word processing program for the G-Tab that will let me do some formatting and insert pictures, as well as produce a .DOC or .DOCX compatible file?
Is there some way to setup Google Docs like this, and have it be available if I don't have a connection (maybe through dropbox)?
TIA!
I'm using the QuickOffice HD from the Notion Ink Adam and it works great!
It's available via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928832
Right now, the current version lets you connect to Google Docs and both edit AND create new documents (Word, Excel, PPT) as well as read PDFs
You could easily open a document up and re-save it internal to your gTablet for offline use -- or as you suggest use Dropbox to keep a local folder synced up for offline use...
Google only recently added support for the XML office files to GDocs -- so creation of new documents in those formats isn't natively supported in this version (but may be available in a newer version of QuickOffice HD I suppose)
Long Pressing in a Word document brings up a dialog with the following options:
- Add Image from Gallery
- Add Image from Camera
- Select Text
- Input Method
You can also change Fonts (inc. set Bold, Underline, Italic, etc), Alignment, Colour...
I think that just about meets your requirements (?) -- give it a try...
+1 for quickoffice tablet addition from notion ink. Works great for me!
OK, have given it a try. To begin with, I feel a little odd using it since I can't find the HD version in the market, so have to wonder if it won't up and die on me at some point.
In any event, I was able to insert and resize a picture, but couldn't find any way to select just the picture so I could try to center it. Selection handles seem a bit difficult to operate. Also could not find any way to edit my headers or footers, or to apply my document styles for chapter hearings.
Tool may support all this, but the online help isn't the greatest either. Half tempted to register and see if there have been any updates.
FWIW
The HD version is great. Use it for my college classes and I love it. Have the USB case and this and ur good to go. Being integrated with google docs and dropbox is a nice feature too

I just side loaded the Notion Ink Quick Office app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a document. Am I supposed to create a Google Docs account or something? Or should I just be able to create a document on my G tab?

I think you click the app (e.g., word), then select SDCARD, then press the small + at the bottom, which will popup file or folder choice.
Jim
Got it, thanks. Very cool!
Wow i must say the Quickoffice HD is way better than my DocstoGo full at this moment. Wasted my money on Docstogo...
I like the ported canvas app as well.
This seems to be much better than doctogo.
It asked about registering it do I need to?
Nope it's optional.

[Q] Excel & Word App?

Does anyone know a good app I can download view and edit Excel or Word files on? I have tried:
OfficeSuite
E-cell xls
Word To Go
I have attached a copy of the Excel file I am trying to manipulate on the G-Tab. I am able to open, view, and edit the file (well sort of edit). If you view the file file via Excel on you computer you will see it has "check boxes" but I am not able to see them on any of the above mentioned apps. Does anyone know of an app that I can do this with?
The form is being created for use in a physicians' clinic, to help avoid the the clutter of paper and eligible writing.
I was not able to upload (size limit) the Word file I want to be able to edit. But this file is filled with "drop down" menus which do not show up when opened on the G Tab.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dave
That Excel sheet is full of Windows Forms controls. Since those are ActiveX controls I doubt *very* seriously you are going to find any programs on the G Tablet that will allow this file to work correctly. ActiveX, if you aren't familiar with it, is extremely Windows-centric. And at this point, fairly out dated.

[APP] Notepad v4.0

Name: Notepad
About the app:
The Office app is powerful, but its syncing features slow it down. Notepad by AppsForMe is a great app to choose if you just want to take plaintext notes without the wait. It’s also the only text editor that supports folder structures, and the look of the app makes it feel like a part of the operating system (animations included). You can also pin documents or directories to the Start screen and send documents as emails or text messages.
The app has 4.6/5 stars over 48 reviews.
“Amazing app and it does what it says without any problems. Easily the best Notepad app on the marketplace and the fastest” 5/5
“Superb. You can store email and SMS templates. It makes life a lot easier. Don't miss it.” 5/5
“Very, very, very well done. Thank you.” 5/5
Developer's notes:
I'm always looking for more feedback on Notepad. Unfortunately, I don't get a huge number of support emails, so I'm left up to my own devices to figure out what could be added or needs to be changed.
Please give the application a shot. If you like it, great! If you don't, let me know what's up (in the comments). Chances are I can do something about it. Thanks for reading!
Possible future features (not guaranteed in any way, and not listed in any particular order.)
+ change keyboard theme
+ password-protect
+ lists
+ quick folders (swipe in directory view)
+ "emtpy trash" button
+ scroll sideways on long filenames
+ "import all" to parse "backup all"/"export all"
+ "export all" -> skydrive
+ import from url (skydrive/dropbox)
+ "are you sure?" -> "ready to send?"
+ title of note title -> "document title"
+ custom-name "root"

Thank you!!!
Glad you like it!
Please let me know anything about it that seems weird or cool. I do things a lot differently than all of the other text editor applications, and I want to know what's good and what's not.
Wow really good Idea ! I have searched this for Quick Notes ( i use on the PC often the Editor ) and I would use a similiar App on the Phone ...
Thank you!!! i need this for school
simple and does what it says, good app
Notepad Suggestion
First, great Notepad app. I would just like to add a password to a note file.
Thanks!
It's good to see interest in the application! Notepad just hit 15,000 downloads today, and I'm always looking to make that number higher, so the more suggestions you guys have the better.
So far I'm seeing requests for:
(1) a new live tile, particularly for pinned documents/directories
(2) change the name of the "root" directory (to what, though, I wonder?)
(3) password-protect documents
(4) implement lists as well as documents
Anyone have any other suggestions, or want to plus-one a feature?
--AppsForMe
Guess you had missed our review. Skydrive Integration and ability to send notes as attachment.
Yes, I definitely saw your review! I actually did implement two of your suggestions (preview of content when pinned, ability to move folders).
Here's how I feel about your other requests:
First, the Windows Phone operating system prevents third-party developers (read: me) from sending email attachments. Same goes for speech-to-text.
Second, as soon as you want SkyDrive, you should just be using Office. The Office app supports either (a) local files without folders, or (b) SkyDrive files with SkyDrive folders. Goodness knows that I can never match the Office app for stability, integration, features, or UI. Plus, Notepad's other sell is that it's fast--loading notes, saving notes, navigating folders--implementing web functions would slow everything wayyyy down. I see the lack of SkyDrive as a selling point.
(Side note: Office supports sending documents as attachments. Two birds with one stone!)
Notepad for WP the best
I think the requests thus far are pretty much what is missing although it seems it's going to be an uphill battle due to OS restrictions. Installed the app last week on my Lumia and it's amazing, clean and easy to use. Keep up the good work.
I used to use this app, but it had this bug where i could not scroll to the bottom of the longer note. Has that been resloved in the meantime?
Also, I think skydrive sync is important (or even dropbox). When someone changes phones, how is he going to transfer notes?
thank you i need this apps
All the problems with long notes have been fixed.
I'm going to leave the auto-syncing between SkyDrive and the phone up to the native Office application--it does it better, faster, and more reliably than I ever could.
If you need to back up your documents, use the "backup all" feature to email yourself the text of the documents.
Hi Isaac,
Great app. I registered here just to say that, and thank you. I'm a note taking person but one that wants to keep them organize and your app is the only one that does it with ease. (I must of downloaded a dozen to try and removed..only one other did folders, the rest was just one giant list of notes).
If you're serious about taking users feedback, here are some of mine...all are minor little things that are mostly ui based and these are just my opinions. I think your application here is quite impressive so take these only to help out for those you agree with..
- replace 'root' with 'home' or 'my folders' perhaps?
- replace 'Remarks' when creating a new directory with 'Note: ' or remove the word entirely and place the remark note under the text field.
- titles of Directories and Notes become all lower-cased when viewing
- clicking the back button when in Search mode hides the keyboard only, so it requires clicking the back button again to exit the search function..this may be an OS thing I've seen and not something that can be changed unless you can find a way around this.
- add a Folders button at the bottom when in a non root directory to take you back, just like how it appears when in a note to take you back to its directory.
- when in a directory, can the word Notepad and the Directory name on top take you back to the folder list view or one folder out if in a subfolder?
- possible to allow user to choose which directory(ies) to list mango-syle to the right where they can swipe to the right and to go into that directory (sorry if this is unclear, I'm not too familiar with WP terminology yet)
- Button to empty trash when viewing trash directory. btw, how does the trash work..deletes automatically after so long?
- when viewing a file that has a long filename (and the feature is turned on), can it scroll?
- reduce space between documents filenames ..currently lists 5 before needing to scroll?
- backup all..cool feature. I would change 'Are you sure?' which sounds a little scary to something like 'Ready to Send?' btw, can you import back into Notepad? If note, perhaps call the feature 'email all' instead for now..
- when creating a new note it shows 'new document', the next screen where it ask for the file name it displays 'new note' ..just a consistence thing
- are all notes saved as txt files on the device? what if you remove the .txt? does it need to be displayed if it's automatically saving them as txt files.
- Can titles of notes and directories names be the system's accent color and turn black when choosing them? ..the reverse essentially.
- when adjusting toggle sliders in Settings, the phone wants to swipe to it's neighboring page a little too freely (btw, love all the settings you have here!)
- remove the larger 'root' when in the root directory list to gain some real estate back to see more directories and so it's not repeating perhaps?
And if you need any simple graphics help, I can help out.
I'd love to see Dropbox support with everything being saved to dropbox and loaded from dropbox. I'd even pay for a dropbox enabled version.
Can it handle long text file ?
Can it import text file from skydrive?
Can we Password lock the app or folder?
thanx
First: Thanks, Lumiame, for the excellent feedback. You've greatly extended the set of features I'm considering adding, and you've noted UI inconsistencies and confusions that I'll make sure to address in the next update.
To everyone who's commented so far: thanks for the good feedback. This quarter at my university is slower than my last quarter, so I should be able to get to work on the app.
Look for a good number of changes in the next updates.
thanks for sharing

[Q] WP8, Phone>Documents & Text files

Hi all, just a quick question regarding the functionality of Wp8 that I am fighting with, that I need to resolve or another WP phone is going back to the supplier [I did the same with WP7].
First off, apologies if there's an answer that I haven't managed to find.
I currently have an HTC HD2 running very nicely on WM6.5, however, it's been creaking a bit recently & I'd decided with a favourable review of WP8 that I read the other day suggesting that finally the device can be plugged into a PC & seen as a USB drive, that the time was right to move forwards.
Now that I have the Nokia Lumia 820 & WP8 however, I still don't think I can get it to do what I need it to do.
ALL I would like to do, is be able to copy text files from PC to WP8, & then display them on the phone with text wrap switched off.
Easy hey? Well if so, I haven't worked out how to do it yet!
I plug the phone into my PC, & an Explorer window fires up on the PC [XP] showing 'SD card' & 'Phone'. Drilling down one level on the latter gives Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos etc.
The only way I can get to see the Documents folder on my Phone appears to be via Office Mobile, under 'places' > phone. It appears to be very fussy about what it allows to be displayed there - I can see .PDF, .DOC, .XLS & .TXT files [but not .LOG. .ONE, .ZIP etc (which remain 'hidden')].
When I tap a .TXT file, I have no choice of how to open it, Office Mobile pounces & that's that. Having got this far, all I would now like to do is switch off text wrap [so that it'll view in a usable manner] because there doesn't appear to be such an option.
I have scoured the Store, & the best I've found is 'Text Reader', though this requires that I load it via email [upload a file to Hotmail or wherever with a .LOG (or similar) suffix & away you go, which it then downloads & stores in its own sandbox]. Ok, but faffy.
I believe that other progs might enable transfer via the cloud [Skydrive or whatever], but because of the nature of the data [& the fact that I don't want my data in anyone else's hands], this is out too.
I've spotted a couple of other quirks.
Office Mobile also does not allow you to display the folder hierarchy that may exist in Phone>Documents, just giving a flat filesystem, which makes finding a file in thousands, say, horrible. All I'd like to do is exactly duplicate the hierarchy that exists on the PC [& then I am always looking for things in the same place on either device].
I have also noticed that Office Mobile Word sometime hangs part way through a file. e.g. on loading a 1mb file, & searching for a text sequence I know to be on the last line, it hangs on a line part way through the file [say a 1/3 of the way in]. Not great, & I have the odd file that's c.10mb so I dread to think with that.
Words fail me, & once again I am hugely disappointed with MS. Please, please get the odd decision right & maybe WP will be at the top of the pile again as it was with [the sometimes awful, but very functional] WM.
I am hoping that someone will explain an easy way to do this, & that I can finally move forwards from WM6.5. Android concerns me re privacy & I don't like iPhones, so not much choice really! Stuck waiting for MS to provide basic functionality or [worse] a potential need for a future jailbreak to make the thing work properly!
Here's hoping. Many thanks for reading.
First of all, nobody who knew what the hell they were talking about said that WP8 displays as a USB drive (properly called USB Mass Storage). It's an MTP device, like most media players (or indeed WP7, though that had an extra layer of encryption around it). MTP doesn't display the actual filesystem; although the hierarchical display that it presents *may* mirror a real filesystem, it's under no obligation to do so.
The dearth of supported file types in WP7 was a real pain, but it could be fixed by tweaking the registry. In WP8 it's still a pain, but now third-party apps can (officially) register to handle file types. However, as you point out, there's no real way to browse the phone, and the Office hub only shows the filetypes it recognizes. We *might* be able to fix that, if we could get registry write permission, but that's not possible right now. With that said, I don't know if it would be possible for another app to register the (for example) .txt extension; the phone does offer the ability to choose what app opens a given file type.
For what it's worth, Bluetooth file transfer to the phone works fine, and the files will open in whatever app is registered to the file's extension. You can then save them into the app's storage (Documents, for Office apps). This may be a better way to transfer your data.
In WP8 you can build Apps that associate themselves with certain filetypes (identified by the ending). If your App is associated with a certain file type the App can also open files of that type from anywhere on the SD Card.
So for example if you put a *.log file onto the SD Card any App that is associated with the ".log" ending can read it (the Explorer functionality for the SD Card would have to be implemented by the App itself but it is supported). This does not work with the integrated storage though. With integrated storage you would still have to receive it via E-Mail, SkyDrive, etc.
Now for the caveats:
- Apps can't be dynamically associated with File Types. If you want to open "*.log" files the App developer has to associate his App with the filetype in it's manifest. If several Apps exist for a given filetype the user will be asked which one to use.
- There is a quite extensive list of file types that are reserved for the OS or built in Apps. Any file type that is reserved in that way can't be associated with third Party Apps. This contains Office documents (except PDF, TXT files and lots of media file types). The complete list can be seen here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/jj207065(v=vs.105).aspx
- Apps can only read from the SD Card but they can't Change data there.
Now as for your Problem: someone could build an App that supports e.g. Log-Files and you could use your Lumia 820 with an SD Card to pretty much work the way you intend to with those files. It's not really trivial though, given that 10 MB big plain Text-Files regularly lead to Trouble even on PC text Editors (the developer has to be smart on how to handle These "huge" files, so just some midnight hack job won't do).
What are your further requirements? Search pretty obviously. But what are all the filetypes you would need? Would you need editing capability?
Just trying to understand the compelete picture of your requirements. Perhaps you can tell us what kinds of files you use and for what purposes.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
@GoodDayToDie
Re 'seen as a USB drive' - That's me being careless with words, what I meant to say was the ability to local sync over a USB cable, & then access the copied files on the device. I didn't think that you could do this with WP7 [without frigs], & had high[er] hopes for WP8.
I might have a look at Bluetooth FT as a method for getting the [bulk] data over locally, as I won't be doing it via the cloud [email or Skydrive]. Thanks for the advice.
@StevieBallz
Thanks for the MSDN reference - Very interesting.
Ok, so the apps can potentially access the data on the SD card but not write to it - As an aside, I thought I read something the other day that said data on the SD card was limited to Pictures, Videos, Music etc, as a security measure. That's interesting too then, though anything I want to be 'secure' I'd keep in the internal storage anyway.
Re the comment re 'Trouble even on PC text Editors'. Yes, I tried way back on WM2003 to get a file displayer going, but immediately hit problems with [I think] a 32KB limit on the textbox display. I've just made do with WM6.5's Word displayer since, which offers basic functionality.I keep meaning to go back to the coding, but haven't managed it yet [I think Visual Basic was missing for a while with WP, if indeed it's there yet (I thought I'd read it was with VS2012?)].
Re my 'requirements'. Just to be able to search [large-ish] text files & have the o/p displayed in a manner that's readable [no word-wrapping]. I realise editing is a whole new ball game, so read-only would be good enough. Longer term, I'd like the ability to have many text files open at once - On the desktop I use "Programmer's File Editor", & something like that [if only as a viewer] I'd find invaluable on the smartphone/PDA. I also have many thousands of files on my desktop [PDF, DOC, RTF, HTM, TXT etc] & ideally I'd like access to those on the go as & when needed, via a hierarchical file system on the mobile device, with the structure exactly mirroring the PC's file system, so that I'd search for & find data in the same places regardless of which device I was using [Why thousands? Might be 100s+ actually, & these could be electricity bills, sales receipts, insurance documents - anything - the stuff of life really].
I'll continue with my testing of Office Mobile Word's displaying & searching of text files. I've found it patchy & not consistent so far, but am going to have to move from WM6.5 eventually [more's the pity], & don't really want the hassle of sending the device back again.
Many thanks for your advice so far.
Device returned, many thanks for your help. Maybe WP9 then?
