I have disa as my primary messenger for my Huawei P8 light 2017. Even though it is set as primary and all notifications are disabled for the stock SMS messenger, I still get notifications on my lock screen for the stock app. I have gone through system to apps and disabled all notifications but they still show up. This forces me to go into the stock app and read the message even though I have read and replied through Disa. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm running cyan's 4.2.3 with Enoch 1.4.2 theme using handcent sms. I have already disabled auto-retrieve and notifications on the default messaging application but i still receive notifications from both when i receive text messages. Reinstalling handcent had no effect and neither did wiping the data from the messaging app. I'd like to find a solution without having to reflash/reinstall all my apps if possible
You will ALWAYS get messages in the default, because if you didn't you wouldn't get them in handcent. Go into the default messenger and turn off the notifications. Simple fix. And you need to turn on auto download because thats for MMS not SMS.
sigh.. if you had read you would have seen

I quickly read, but you don't have notifications turned off, because if you did it wouldn't notify unless they gave you a change sms program. I just turned mine on/off and it works just fine. Check permissions.
... i have checked those settings multiple times. I wouldn't be posting in a forum if it was that simple of a solution. It used to work before and now it doesn't, obviously the default messaging program is having some kind of fault where changing the setting via the GUI is not affecting it.
Is there a way to have a different Messages notification tone than the default notification tone?
Many thanks!
Same question! I can't even change sound notifications from gmail and google allo?
Same for Twitter lol
Having the same .. would like to have different sound notifications in gmail and messages. I seem to be able to do it in WhatsApp, but everywhere else it use system default sound
It is extremely extremely annoying. To solve this, I am using Textra instead of stock messages. You might like it and it has , of course, the option of changing the sound. I wouldnt even consider that a 2018 flagship doesnt have that option...

You can change the notification sounds in Gmail. I have three email accounts setup in the Gmail app.
Goto:-
- Gmail settings
- General settings
- Manage notifications
- Click the text area that says 'Normal: Allow these notifications to make sounds' (not the button)
- Sound
Thanks, havent found that before
Ever since I changed to this phone I am missing notifications from "less important apps", such as my banking apps, even Google Hangouts and sometimes Telegram, I get NO notifications whatsoever.
Yes, notifications are enabled for those apps
Yes, I have changed Special Access => Battery optimization => Not allowed for those apps
Yes, I have changed the Battery => App launch to Manage manually for all those apps
I am on EMUI 9.0 now. I just want to receive notifications, can anyone tell me HOW?
I've been experimenting for weeks now... And the best I could achieve was receiving a second notification from my banking app, after the first expected one was completely ignored.
Hi,
is there any way to receive emergency alert messages in other apps and not in the default Messages?
I asked Textra about it and the answer was:
If the amber alert / emergency alert comes in as a SMS it will show up in Textra, if it comes in as a push notification it will only show up on your pre-installed messaging app out of the box, poor practice we know, but this is their way of trying to lock you in.
This is the same for all other messaging apps.
I hope this clarifies.

The problem is that when an alert comes (and since I have Textra as default sms app) instead of viewing the alert I get a popup to choose another messaging app!
Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas?
On my Huawei P30 Pro I use multiple email accounts with the default mail app. When I get a new email, I get a notification as configured on the lock screen and in the status bar.
If I read the email on my computer, the notification on the phone never disappears, even if I wait for days. New notifications come if I receive more emails but the notifications for already read emails do not disappear until I manually remove them.
I cannot find any configuration for this. Is this the standard behavior and can it be changed?
