Lineage OS Schedule Power On/Off - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

I am currently running Lineage OS version 14.1-20170328-NIGHTLY-gemini. I was wondering if there is any way to schedule a power on and power off time. I know that Lineage is not MIUI, yet I really liked that feature.
Any suggestion on how to accomplish this (or explanation of its impossibility) is more than welcome.

I don't believe there are any such features in LOS.

I hope someone can resolve this question.
I think it's possible because the processor is prepared for that. But someone have to make it work on Lineage OS!!!

Good to see DU again. Thanks for that.

You can try Guyver, NGB or CrazyAqua kernel.
You can customize them.

You have to manually set what each button does for long press, for single press, for double press, it is pretty self-evident.
Just change them.

ohhh I was just a little confused as they were labelled "back" "recent" buttons and not "left"/"right". yup got it all sorted thanks a lot!
DU is great! I hope you get better soon! You needn't have to be hasty as to updating rom. In my opinion, you should compile rom only if there are great changes. Some unofficial developers do this method.

I think we should wait for Oreo release.
One thing I will try to customize audio configs and quality because I am not very satisfied.
Some changes which were already included in the first build were stolen from Gemini in audio_effects.xml.
It was this commit :
https://github.com/33bca/android_de...mmit/eb508990035f0f8ff0c2878f43b30f63c80e475b
I think this is a bit better but I haven't tried headphones extensively.
I will play around with it because I think it is a bit muddy to check AOSP settings and CAF- settings Xiaomi stuff which sounds better.

Thanks for your efforts
alright after a while of usage I have found a few problems,
1. When going into recent apps sometimes it bugs out and doesnt show you the latest app you were on (happens about 30% of the time).
2. Bluetooth IS good but has trouble initially connecting sometimes.
3. Sometimes when Im listening to music and try to unlock the device it lags and becomes unresponsive.
4. Sometimes the notifications doesn't show the preview well, it might show 1 message in telegram but when i go on the app theres like 20 messages and only one of them were shown in the preview.
5. some apps like shazam doesnt work properly i think theres some trouble with permissions.
6. auto rotation sometimes gets stuck and bluetooth sometimes fails to connect, I need to reboot to fix this and happens about once/twice a day.
But yh as warface said you should only update the rom once in a while when there are relevant changes, small bugfixes like this aren't important and we don't want to overwork yourself. Any updates will be greatly appreciated
(slimrom) There isn't hardware botton setting (backlight, swap and etc)

[ROM][T810/T815][8.x] LineageOS 15.1 20180722 [ABANDONED]

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
Process at your own risk!
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community
Requirements:
- twrp 3.2.0+
- backup everything before install
- wipe data before upgrading from LineageOS 14.1 or stock rom
Install:
- Flash zip in TWRP
- Don't forget about gapps (arm 8.1)
Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing ROM.
If you reboot into ROM before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes.
Known issues:
unstable fingerprint
stuff, I haven't checked

Screen is upside-down (orientation sensors are OK). And screen touch sensitivity is normal. So I see a button in left up corner and have to touch in right down corner where it actually has to be.

Ok one more thing can I use your work to build a different os please man?
( seem to be blind (or stupid) - Can someone please point me to a working TWRP 3.2 for the T810 so I am ready when the new build drops? Thanks a bunch!)
Edit: Sorry, found it. Stupid indeed.
I fixed drm stuff, so netflix is working now. I want to fix some small things before uploading new build, but I'm not sure I finish and make new builds today. @Androbots feel free to use all code from github
I suspect that the display is rotated 180 degrees because there are one too many hwrotation=270 entries between the gts2-common and gts210 device trees. I'm running my own build right now with all those extra ones removed, including having taken out the system_prop.mk file from the gts210wifi repo, since it's identical to the system.prop file already there. Out of respect for bonuzzz, I won't post my own build in this thread.
For those wondering, the official 3.2.1 TWRP works perfectly fine.
bonuzzz, I haven't tested your build yet, but if you managed to fix wifi and bluetooth, I take my hat off to you sir

Only t810 and t815 require rotation, so this parameter is in device specific config only. And if you have several strings it doesn't mean the image on display will rotate each time. It is just duplicate string.
Why not you finally create your own thread for your builds? I think it will be good idea:good: You have link to your builds in your signature, but you don't have any place where your users can ask you for help...
Nice to see U back @bonuzzz, especially with such amazing things ?

Because right now my builds are in worse shape than yours, assuming you fixed wifi, bluetooth, the 180 degree display rotation, and everything else in your OP.
Edit: If the gts210vewifi is anything to go by, Oreo requires an hwrotation of 90, not 270 as in Nougat, for the proper orientation, courtesy of luk1337.

I have the same behaviour in tab s3, but I thought it is because of libs from another device. But it's very funny, in oreo rotation is in another side)
PS: I mean not only oreo builds...
Yup, setting hwrotation to 90 instead of 270 fixes the display being flipped. As for wifi and bluetooth, I will patiently wait for your expertise, bonuzzz

bt issue is just permission issue net_bt_stack --> bluetooth in init scripts
for wifi fix you will wait very very long time...
To be honest, I don't want to collect again the guys, who just "patiently waiting" for new commits from my side and fully depended from my work. Users will have cloned roms with same issues.

So why make the effort to build again? This is the same old story with you. One day, you are helpful and generous with your builds; the next day, you complain about not wanting to make any more effort than you had already made.
Please make a decision and stick with it: either do your best to fix the most basic functions and let someone like me help you the best way I can by building from your code often, and giving you full credit, so that we can all give you frequent feedback, or don't create any more threads and abandon the 2015 Tab S2.
widevine L1 support added. we dont need patched netflix apks anymore
@ripee I make roms for myself and share them with others. What's wrong with that? And yes, I'm helpful and generous when you write me pm. Just curious, nobody asked for help in public. And yes, everything is depends on my spare time.
Nougat builds are really abandoned. You don't believe me or what? Or I should to write anything else there when people ask for update builds?
I see you worry about my git. Calm down, please. Why do you think I upload sources for you? I uploaded sources for you and you published your builds just right after that without understanding what exactly changed and instead of help to fix remain bugs. I told you few months ago to choose one author and try to fix something. You didn't hear me. I don't need any credits. But I don't like liars, if we talk about one person here. And I don't want more "we don't care" teams here. I don't need any daily public builds. It will be disorganized development. At least no one else haven't tried to fix anything in my (nougat) sources...
So, in short, I will do what I want. I will upload builds when I want. I will add/fix/change in builds what I want and in my own priority. I spend my own time for that. Don't like? Don't use. Make something yourself. Stop depend from me and let me do my work. Thanks in advance.
I just saw Shiny thread here ^-^ . I look twice to make sure it is 815 not anything else.
Thank you very much. We all appreciated your work and effort.
If you want any help test, logcat or even setup machine for build I'm ready for that ^-*

Resurrection Remix 7.0.0 [Android 9] - Any experience?

Hi,
I just double checked the RR homepage if there is any Update regarding a new Mi5 Rom. And yes: Since a couple of days there seems to be a new ROM "RR-P-v7.0.0-20190220-gemini-Official" available. I can't found it within the Rom section on XDA.
Do you have any experience with the ROM? Battery, bugs?!
I know: It's very easy to flash and discover on my on. But maybe you can give some feedback or create a Thread within the XDA Rom section (not sure if only the dev's are allowed to).
https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gemini
Regards
I'm currently using it.
Only issue so far is ambient display that doesn't work.
Other than that it's really really fast
Its blazingly fast and give 7 hours of screen on time
Does ambient display work for you?
Or at least does the screen light up when you receive notifications?

I finally managed to flash the latest Version (20190307) with Firmware version 8.11.22. Ambient light is not working - Screen stays dark. Only LED showing up.
About battery usage I can tell u more soon - Right now it says up to 2 more days.
Performance is really incredible. How fast the apps are coming up after touching them - Nice.
Another thing: I somehow can't manged to set vibration only for the HW keys - Not the onscreen Keyboard. Anybody any idea?

Well, technically everyone is allowed to create threads, but what is expected always is that you use common sense and respect the work of others.
With that in mind, creating a thread for a ROM should only be done by its developer or maintainer or at least always only when politely asking the creators for allowance beforehand.
Review based on 16.03 build
Hi,
the 16.03 introduced new issues like random reboots 1-2 times per day.
The Spotify App isnot working properly as if you press buttons to open a sub-menu it lead into a App crash (Like "More from this artist"/ "More from this Album"/"Add to playlist"). I tried Beta/Alpha/stable App version but always the same.
I had lot of issues with push notifications. They came up like 20-30min after received something.
The battery drain and performance is still incredible. Better than on HAVOC OS on which I'm right now.
Ambient display still not working - Screen show nothing after receiving a notification.
Automatic brightness is not working properly from my perspective - It is much to "aggressiv" switching the screen brightness to high and toggling a lot.
Used firmware: fw_gemini_miui_MI5Global_8.11.22_c5d7ee6745_8.0
Right now I'm struggling with super low mobile data rate around 0,03MB/s. But I have the same issue with HAVOC Rom - So nothing to do with that rom.
(ROM was dirty flashed over 09.03 RR build. I switched now to HAVOC Rom which is much more stable)

Some prefer certain channels.
Some only release on telegram, some only on xda, some on both or more.
If you ask the creator, there might be one, if you want one to be there and feel up for maintaining it.
On Mi5Arsenal telegram a new version of this romm appeared. 20190414.
Has anyone tried it?
Can you check if ambient display works on this new version?
More importantly are random reboots gone in new bulid?

Installation just finished I will report back what I find and let you know if it's even worth it.
Let us know how it goes...
Had an issue with start up and fingerprint at first, rebooted and was able to get through fingerprint. I go through all the startup steps finally boot and oneplus launcher force closes non stop. Reboot does not fix this issue either, I was lucky to have Nova launcher restored from back up but now navigation gestures do not work. I will try another fresh install and see what happens but so far stay away.
I was able to get through the initial setup but I had to skip network setup because the keyboard wasn't working. The rom seems very buggy.
Things like the QS pulldown animation are very laggy, gestures work but are laggy too and OnePlus launcher can randomly crash when opening app drawer and causes screen to flicker. Location permission seems to freeze the whole app and sometimes the whole phone just goes crazy and the screen flickers and the touchscreen gets unresponsive... and I've only had it installed for like 10 mins. I'd stay away ?

I had to reinstall the preview version, then after everything I had to uninstall update to launcher, no more force closes and navigation gestures are working. And just as I'm typing this i rebooted device and now stuck in a bootloop. Going back to Pie for now.
Tmobile device converted to International.
SIM locked BL Locked
Installed from 9.5.7 - same errors with the launcher as everyone else. Updated and it smoothed out.
Calls only worked on bluetooth and speaker. (maybe a product of my locked bootloader?) I'm not complaining thought. It's beta software for devs and I understand that.
Why are people downloading this expecting a polished final product? IT'S A DEVELOPER PREVIEW. It's not meant for general users, it's to help developers to prepare their apps before the final version comes out. You're under no obligation to even install it.

Based on the posts above, I don't think anyone, including myself, is expecting a final product. No one appears to be complaining. It's feedback on their experience with the installation and performance of the Beta 2 release. I think we all know it's a work in progress. This is kinda of a heads up for others who may be considering installing it for the purpose of using it (with the occasional hiccup).

Why does every thread has to have some overseer come and tell us what we already know?
First of all everyone here was having a great conversation with good feedback regarding the update. No one said this is for developer's only? OnePlus also mentions "Early Adopters" please don't start with negativity just let the thread be!
On another note thank you guys for installing and reporting back your findings, It helps alot now I don't have to wipe my phone and install Q beta.

Launcher kept crashing. Tried a reboot but stuck in a boot loop. Will get it sorted. Beta is beta. If you don't want issues, stay on stable.
Just a heads up, whoever still wants to give it a try do not reboot. After you play with Q for a few and want to go back to Pie. Go and download the downgrade and install. It's a little tricky because with me I lost recovery as well for some odd reason after a reboot.

If MIUI 11 turns out to be as bad as 10, which custom rom is the most stable?

Don't want to switch to a rom where stuff randomly stops working, so basically it has to be almost perfect. I guess Pixel Experience is the best currently? Does Google Camera work on every rom exactly like it does on MIUI?

AOD not displaying any relevant notifications, awful notifications in general, Android System using the most battery(though this might be just me), bloatware(removed it via ADB but still), automatic brightness randomly blinding me at night in bed.
I put Nova Launcher just to bypass some of the horrendous stuff MIUI has.

Just removing the bloatwares will do for a while. But if you're gonna ask for a custom rom. It's good to install LineageOS. I've been using that ROM since I was in Zenfone2.
PixelROM has still too much bugs. And I think all the custom roms will be stable after a year.
I haven't found any custom rom to be stable unfortunately.
Miui 11 is a tad better than Miui 10. But not by much. It's still got the terrible notification system, poor recents layout and overly complicated settings (thank god for search).

You have a very narrow definition of stable.

Don't want to switch to a rom where stuff randomly stops working, so basically it has to be almost perfect. I guess Pixel Experience is the best currently? Does Google Camera work on every rom exactly like it does on MIUI?
Give me your suggestions!

Most of the ROMs are stable, however none are without some minor issues, but nothing that stops them being used as a daily. Couldn't comment on all of them, but it looks like the Oxygen OS ROM is the only unusable ROM.
There are a few that are all at a similar level, with PE being just one of them.
My suggestion is look at the ROM threads that are the most active, as they're going to be the ones with the most users, which implies they're the ones with the least bugs. After that it's personal preference as to which you choose.
Unfortunately there isn't a perfect camera solution for custom ROMs yet.
To get the best out of it, you will probably need both GCam and ANX camera installed, as both aren't perfect, but their issues don't overlap much, so between them you get almost everything covered. There are many threads that discuss which versions of each work best.

They have fixed the notifications on AOD and I agree with the bloatware problem and automatic brightness problem. Battery life is better in miui11, at least for me.
I think the most stable 3rd party rom for this device is either LOS16 or Pixel Experience based on 9. I think they will soon all move to android 10 (Official builds) before 2020. But I haven't tried any of them.
