1)Nemesis Nougat Stable V3.1, Dr.ketan's Rom N5(Only s7e port supports AOD with custom AOD supporting kernel like Khongloi Nougat Kernel N920CIG v1 or v3), Khongloi Nougat Port N5/S7e port V3(Both port supports AOD but Only S7e port supports custom AOD brightness)
2)If your using Note 5 then you will have no problem regarding AOD only a bit of more battery drain than usual like 1-2% per hour but Not sure about s6edge+ as i didn't try yet
3)Choose any of above mentioned rom, follow installation instructions carefully and you will have working AOD
4)Every rom is stable at it's own as you can't underestimate any of dev's hardwork, some bugs will be there which can be figure out with particular solutions in rom thread

Humm well i have s6e+ so atleast need a kernel for that,
As i readed a few rom devs some have problems with deep sleep ,
Some have features i want and some don't
As s6e+ treat die out pretty fast for some reason and note 5 stay more alive , but i guess i need a s7 port with s6 kernel ?
Atm i run pixel like rom, pretty happy with it but yet it still miss stuff i wanted , but its quite stable and power friendly
I am still looking for a nice rom filling my feature list and yet debloated,
i don't like bloat,
specialy samsung roms witch are filled with bloat
I checked out nemesis again but i don't see op mention anything abou aod, it was actualy my 1st rom on 7.0.1 with a s6e+ kernel
Is aod a sep install or something?
And dr ketan , i tried that one to but some i need to pay to get a good working rom?
I dont want to be rude, but i rather dont want to donate for temp stuff only for lifetime and who say my next phone will be another samsung, mines is nearly 2 years old so yeah.. you never know when it give up

Hi, guys...
I have tried and flashed JB Rocket ROM and it was quite good, esp. v2 where pretty much everything worked, but yesterday and today suddenly I can't use my mobile data. Wifi Internet great, but no mobile Internet, no matter how many times I reboot and press "mobile data" button.
SO, my question is: what is the next best TW based JB ROM, since v3 of RR won't be coming because eybee got stressed out over the stupidity and idiotic behaviour of some forum members and he was so close to finishing v3, apparently. Bloody jerks! Respect to him and all the devs.
Hey, can somebody tell the big boys to try and make something like a weekly poll/statistics of which ROMs are most downloaded, which are best rated and stable. It would help a lot and save time spend on questions and aswers regarding this. You know, like when you buy stuff on Amazon, you pick 4/5 star products and then choose from the best of the crops.

Hi there!
I'm also interested and wanted to ask the same question...so Rocket Rom is the best one but unfortunately the dev isn't on it anymore.
Btw, if I understand correctly TW roms are Stock based but tweaked? So it means that it's possible to use Snote etc?
I'm asking this question because i'm for the moment on Thor Rom with Thor Kernel but I really miss Snote...
Thank you

Alliance is a great rom but have you tried the Ultimate v4 LS7 rom?
If you don't care about battery life, which is the fastest?
I have tried Ultimate JB ROM v4 (LS7 based) and so far it is great, fast, battery great too... Alliance ROM sounded interesting, and people in that forum/thread say it is great, but I was put off by "beta 1" thing. Ultimate is ultimate, right?
I think that till the middle of December we should see great, stable and full functional ROMs based on LS9. Can't blame me for hoping, right?
I have used alliance rom before, and right now i'm using Ultimate rom , it is very good and smooth enough, it has very useful OTA updater and i think it's best JB rom todays.

no... And memory leak is now in the past.. All new jb roms, have fixed it with new drivers.
Ultimate jb..
Mine is SVA xxls7 v2.3. Stable and smooth.. like it very much
Well I personally prefer Ics 4 nw coz the latest TW JB Roms cant be overclocked !!!
Mostly i play games on my note when m free ......... So i prefer overall performance in Gamin + Battery bck up and by the time in TW have only tried alliance Rom and was'nt so happy wiz it ..... So switched to my old alliance final v3 and nw m quite satisfied !!
U should definitely give a try to RR ( Rocket Rom ) from eybee 1970 OR
Alliance rom from Robbie hood !! They r awesome developers .... Love using their roms !!
Also m juz waitin for Official Jb release by Sammy and new kernels !!
Do you know what I would like to see? I would like to see reviews, benchmarks and such. This android community is so awesome, but there is so much unused potential. So much that doesn't reach out the way it could have.
I would like to see proper, clean wikis with information and manuals. I would like to see reviews, pros and cons with the ROMs, benchmark to justify the verdicts and so on.
Instead, one is left with personal opinions - which isnt wrong or bad in any way, but not always enough. A "professional" review is made for the sake of the review and therefore able to tell us more.
With that said, I would like to ask if there is a 4.2.2 that is TW based. Couldn't find any - I found this thread though

Well my advice is get use to logcats(google troubleshooting them, maybe even research a few ported manifactured roms to different devices and kernel porting will also be a big part of a build like this) , if you can get it to a working state these areas will be where most of the problems will be show whats conflicting, But without a kernel built/ported for the rom and hardware confliction issues your gonna have issues logcat may not be able to solve. Its not impossible but its far from easy porting from a different manifactured device but it does happen, htc roms have been brought to samsung for a few devices tho very few if any ever 100% function and it can be very time consuming for even a pro builder. would be nice for a custom factory rom from another branded device on our device!. I i wish you luck and will keep my fingers crossed and will check it out once its posted :good:

You are talking about 2 completely different things here. Our custom Roms are stock based with some modifications. These are no ports.
Sent from my SM-T210 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mm... I see what you mean.
Still, we could get a Nexus 7-like Lollipop ROM when Cyanogen releases CyanogenMod12. Or 13. Cannot remember.. :silly:
btw using a Touchwiz based rom to port a AOSP rom is completely useless that will never ever boot.
if you port something do it from a similair device with the same hardware and uif you port aosp you need a aosp base! if you port a touchwiz based rom use a touchwiz based rom Easy!
Mate not to crush your dream or effort but what the other devs are tell you if true including my self. Educated your self more, all the tutorials and guides regarding porting, building custom rom and more can be find on xda.
As for Lollipop we would have to wait till a compatible / similar device has it before it can be ported.
On that note hope that clear up some stuff for you and understand things better.
So the galaxy tab 2 has official support from cyanogenmod which I think it will be getting cm 12 which the device hardware and specs are not much different someone can port that over to our tab 3.
Or if the tab 4 gets official Samsung android l update you devs can port it to our tab 3??

Lol @wase4711
I know the only multirom type of thing for the Note 3 was safestrap....
From what I heard (rumors) that may not be made for the Note 4...which will suck!
I'm sure if you work with the actual Multi-Rom developer, maybe you guys can work on something to port it over.
That will simply be awesome.
For now, I suggest you sit tight and see what happens few months from now. Afterall, in the grand scheme of things...this is still a fairly new device.

well, it is for me, but as always, just make a nand of your current rom, and try it and see how it is on your phone.
this AOSP roms are coming fast and furious now, so you really have to check it out yourself and see how it is on your phone.
what is awesum about it, is it has a custom kernel, the first one that I have found for any AOSP roms, so it will be interesting to see how that kernel works with other roms!

Greetings Forums Members,
I thought I'd make a post here and get your opinions about what ROM to use. - I'm currently running Resurrection Remix from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...esurrection-remix-04-09-2017-t3587049/page420
So far everything seems to be running really well on this ROM, but before this Rom I was running Stock Rom with Marshmallow, then updated to nougat MIUI 9 or something like that and I really hated it... So I wiped, re-flashed the original Marshmallow Rom using Mi Tool. I then decided to install TWRP and Root my device and keep it on stock MM. It was really good and treated me well for the longest time. Eventually, I got bored of it and decided to try out some custom Roms.
I wanted to ask you all which Rom is currently the best Rom to use for the Mi Mix, would really appreciate some advice here. I'm mainly looking for something with good Battery Life and Fast/Smooth Rom.
- Thanks

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed response.
I'm currently using Resurrection Remix (ROM) - What are your thoughts on that? I personally find it to be really good because of the many feature it has included in the (ROM) - For example; you can really customize the (ROM) however you see fit. I find that to be the most appealing thing about the (ROM).
I'll be sure to give some of the other (ROMS) a try before settling on this one. I have yet to transfer all my dad over anyways since I've only been testing it so far. I'd like to make sure that there aren't many flaws before I settle.

I'll be sure to give it a try and see how it is. I decided to settle with RR now but I should definitely try out other (ROMS) before completely settling with RR since its the first custom (ROM) I've tried. I must say though that RR is very stable and has no flaws. Battery life is also very good.

RR hasn't been updated in months and likely won't be. AICP is the closest in terms of functionality (lots of config options etc) and is still updated weekly. Also, Oreo ROMs are starting to land (finally) so you might want to try those. I just built AICP for Oreo yesterday and I'm running it now. No major issues so far.

Awesome. Thanks for your input.
I've tried several ROMs that you've all recommended except for Viper. So far in my opinion I'd have to say RR has been the best in terms of speed, reliability and battery life. However, I'd like to give Viper a try as well just to see how it is in comparison to RR.
What version is it currently and what are your thoughts on Viper ROM ?

ViperOS is dead. Hasn't been updated in months and likely never will be. Rumours of an Oreo update hang on an article/video in Brazilian (where the team lead is/was based) showing it running on some device.
If you want to stick with Nougat for now, go AICP (more configuration options) or Lineage (closer to stock AOSP). Nougat ROMs are the only ones with custom kernels as yet too.
None of the Oreo ROMs are without issue for now, although they are minor for the most part. Another 1-2 should be along soon to add to Pixel Experience/Cardinal/RR/AICP.
I'm using @gavin19 's unofficial RR Oreo ROM. Love it. There are some minor issues but they shouldn't deprive you from trying it out. I strongly recommend it

Ya I need to try Crdroid, as I am on AICP and i havent really had any issues with that rom it works great and I can customize it like I want.
I am very excited i saw that ViperOs has figured out the Oreo 8.1 and has released a few roms, im hopeful someone will find a way to get that working for the Mi Mix!!!!
I think the best rom ever made for xiaomi mi mix is the Xiaomi.eu MIUI8 Stable v8.5.4.0
Reasons:
~ Unlike all custom roms, the miui uses the whole screen and has real rounded corners and not software made ones which makes the screen look better!
~ The MIUI 8 for MI MIX includes a gesture to hide the navigation bar and have a full screen in any app that you want, you can easly control it when ever you want, best rom for full screen exprience when ever you want! also when you do swipe to hide the nav bar the apps use the whole screen and there are no black bars! none of the custom roms have that!
~ version 8.5.4.0 has no bugs in it and has the best battery life you will ever see on the MIX
~ all Xiaomi.eu Pros and features!
~ Proximity sensor works perfectly and loud in this miui version, you cant find any custom rom that has that working perfectly these days
~ Camera is very good on the official MIUI version!
~ all the MIUI pros and features
~ NO HEAT of the phone, something that happens in a lot of custom roms I used
~ Please note that you can use MIUI9 from Xiaomi.eu if you want, but you will lose the stablity and swipe to hide the nav bar amd the phone heats a lot (but you get android 7, and all the new features) not recomended on the MIX
I have used tons of custom roms on my phone: LineageOS, RR, AICP, AOSP. AIOSP, DIRTY UNICORNS, PIXEL EXPERIENCE. none of the are as stable as that rom and I always go back to that rom.
Have a great day!

Yeah, Viper is most definitely a good Rom to use. I've used it on many other devices before and it has always performed rather well. It's a grea Rom overall and the customization is what really caught my attention. So I vote Yes, viper is indeed a good Rom to use on the Mi Mix and just about every other phone that supports it. AiCP is also a very good Rom on the Mi Mix.

I don't know man... I've never found the battery life to be good on stock ROM. I completely understand what you're saying though. However, if I'm being perfectly honest here, I wouldn't go back to using stock. Don't get me wrong it's very well-built and smooth but the battery life has always been horrible for me not sure why...

Hi Bro want to find out more from you based on your experience
I have updated to latest weely rom 9.6 - 8.5.3 but my Line ap still cannot open.
I want to go bac to stable rom as you said. What do you suggest and how to do it? I am afraid I will lose the history in whatsapp and other chat apps if clean install.

Backup & restore? Whatsapp chats and media files can be backed up to your Google drive and there are other options available for backup as well.
Same thing can be done for messages if you use the Google messenger app for texting and if not, you can still backup your messages and contacts very easily by using this 3rd party app to do so... Which uses Google drive. Also this app backs up call logs, contacts and SMS messages. App name: SMS BACKUP & RESTORE.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
As far as apps and settings go you can always just use your Google account to backup all apps/files/data if you have the option turned on in settings of course.
General SD files like media files (pics, vids, etc.) can be backed up manually using your computer and internal storage or by uploading them to the cloud... which is for free.
How to revert back to stock? There are many guides available right here on the forums, if you just take a closer look you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
Hey All, I'm new to Samsung Note 9 960f. I've been on Oneplus devices for thr last couple years with ease of root and ample kernel options. I've rooted my Note 9 with the stock OS. Now I'm looking for a decent kernel to go with the stock OS that can help with general tweaks. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Bump... Or in the Note 9 world people aren't really active on custom kernels?
Everyone has different preferences so there is no best...Take a look at the dev thread and try some custom stuff for yourself to see what works best for you.

I totally hear you, I was just asking for recommendations. I understand, in the kernel world there's no best. Just that I believe there's only one kernel listed & available in the exynos development thread Thanks!
BeastMode Kernel is a Beast!

How it fairs compared to stock?
Also on the topic, it's a bit sad how dead the development section of note 9 is. Lack of ROMs and total lack of kernels and a lot of time passed from release.

Definitely nice so far. I've felt a slight snappiness over stock (could be placebo). Also I was experiencing random reboots once / twice a day until this morning (on stock). This kernel has been stable so far, hoping to not experience those anymore. Btw, I haven't tweaked anything on the kernel yet except for anabling double tap to wake.
And I hear you, the development on this device is fairly dull. I guess users are happy with the phone as is, but rooting for me is a mandatory exercise. I've moved from a Oneplus 6 which was one of the most vibrant development communities.
Experience has been good decent far, but ofcourse with the usual set of gripes of adjusting on 8.1 from 9, etc.
Thanks!
Quick question. How do you know which kernel will work?
Running Team Exy Kings, current baseband N960FXXU2ZRL6.
Tried Beast and it boot-looped. Although, I did flash the zip in recovery. Do I need to use Odin?
Been a long time since I last played around with Samsung's.
