HydrogenOS or OxygenOS - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm ordering a A3010 which will probably have H2OS. How do I change it to OOS? Unlock bootloader, root and flash the ROM? Or is there an easier way (the does not void warranty)?

This has been answered numerous times in the stickied Q&A thread. And unlocking does not void your warranty.

you do not need to unlock your device, you can sideload Hydrogen or Oxygen

You get the pro version only in black. Which is the ceramic version. And it isn't available yet. They will be soon. (Those who have it have a code, that they used to get it early)
Also I found this thread.

Right now only the 32GB / 64 GB in white / silver is sold.
I got the 32GB... and that was hard to get.
If you want any color but silver / white, then prepare yourself to wait at least a month.

Yes it's easy and takes less than 5 minutes, if your MI Account is allowed to unlock.
One MI Account can unlock, one phone within 30 days.

I had my rmn3 unlocked within this month so it was easy to unlock mi 5. It hasn't been 30 days since that, I didn't have to re-apply for another unlock permission.

Yes the 32GB Version has only 1.8Ghz at max for the SD 820!
The 64GB and 128GB models have the full SD 820 with 2.16 Ghz max.

How did you found your encryption password to allow twrp reading all partitions? I'm rooted because the dev ROM give root by default (just enable it in the security center)
But when I flash the twrp 3.0.0.2 I can't find my encryption password... Tried my lockscreen password but didn't work. Any ideas?
Thanks bro

No you don't need. Just update your phone through the miui update app to this version, it will erase all your data.. Then in the security center, you can enable root
But the only twrp recovery working to flash something is "maybe" because I'm trying right now... Working with the Stable Global ROM 7.2.7.2

I tried to update to the developer rom but got the warning saying you are upgrading to an old version. Please suggest me is the developer version new or old.
Also, do you have any link for global version for MI 5. I think none has been released yet.

Help, newbie questions before installing new ROMs/Recovery System (Xiaomi Redmi 4X)

As stated on the topic I'm a newbie in the world of installing new roms, etc on android phones and I haven't done it before cause I'm a bit scared by the whole thing (I don't want to end up with a brick), I managed to install a custom recovery system on an old samsung and a new ROM, yet with Xiaomi even if it might be the same looks a bit different, so before proceeding to do anything with my current phone I have a couple of newbie questions:
-Can FastBoot be broken somehow?
-Can I use ROMs of other devices (Besides of the Redmi 4x)?
-Can I somehow break the phone irremediably?
-If so, what should I avoid to prevent it?
-Is a custom recovery necessary, or can I use default Xiaomi's one?
-What's the best recovery?
-If I install recovery via fast boot, do I need to root my device?
-What tools should I look forward to use on linux (Ubuntu)?
Those are my questions for now, if you wanna say anything else that should be taken into consideration, feel free, also if you wanna share some useful guide.
First off a little bit of advice don't ask so many questions no one is likely to answer you because unless the person is really bored and has an hour to spare he will not answer you format your question and ask just a couple of questions that are most vital to what you are doing. Also do some research on your own. Your more out to get some help if someone can see you have put forth a little effort. Cheer's

Ok Here you go..
-Can FastBoot be broken somehow?
don't use fastboot.. instead use custom recovery for anything.. wether you're reverting back to MIUI from custom ROM or anything else. Use Fastboot option to Flash recovery only. then your FastBoot will be safe

Yes, you may if you dont follow the set of instruction for performing in Fastboot/Recovery. But dont worry a few research can UNBRICK your phone.

-If so, what should I avoid to prevent it?
Read Instruction carefully, if going to custom ROM wipe all partition like data, cache, system or you will face bootloop(Phone stuck at bootlogo) also Unlock your bootloader in order to perform all the dirty tasks

100% necessary for many customizations.. even for rooting now-a-days

TWRP Recovery & use only which the Redmi 4X Forum provides and follow instructions carefully as stated earlier

N9500 HK root available?

I have a Note 8 SM-N9500 from Hong Kong.
I searched xda website and there is a way to unlock bootloader.
But I wonder if there is a guide to root SM-N9500?
Thank you very much!
if you read the guide for the bootloader im pretty sure it tells you what twrp to install... then from there just install magisk. Then you are rooted

Guys, have you tried something like using Google to search for "how to unlock n9500 bootloader"? I just did and the first result was a thread here at xda with all the info you need for that, magisk, etc. No need to ask in separate threads. It's a basic question, so just search for it and you'll have your answers.

Unlock / Root / ROMs?

This seems to be a good phone. I don't have experience with realme phones so excuse the questions:
how is unlock policy for realme?
how are chances for costume rom development, since the color os seems to be EN/CN language only?
Thanks for answers

I will believe a developer community emerge when they release the kernel source for the Realme X2 Pro*since it is the flagship. I have little faith though
Actually, realme has sent some devices to developer in the past. So I guess they are pretty open with custom development and that's a good sign already. I hope there would be a lot of custom ROM for the device since it is a great device but color OS might be not everyone's cup of tea

That's the exact reason I wrote it in parenthesis, I wasn't sure about it.. but I do think that opening the bootloader is a must, correct me if I'm wrong. Have you ever managed to flash (unofficial) ROM via ADB while the bootloader is locked? Is GSI different from any other costume ROM?
Let's say we flashed a gsi, then how can we get back to stock rom?

I want to make a European version out of my Chinese version as well, but the link you are mentioning will simply re-flash the Chinese ROM onto the Chinese phone. It's useful when the phone doesn't boot anymore or if you have other issues with the phone.
AFAIK, Realme has not made the European ROM available for download yet. Once/if they do, then you can use the above tutorial and simply use the European ROM source.

Because you can't flash zip roms (ozip in our example) with Mi Flash.
And Oppo does not have any EDL rom in regular format anymore, .ops or .ofp format.
So you can't do anything unless you have fastboot rom and and a working fastboot with unlocked bootloader.
So don't

Relock Widevine L3 to L1

Good day to all. Can anyone confirm if widevine L1 is recovered on the ff scenarios:
1. If the unlocking process is the ASUS unlocking tool then relocked using fastboot?
2. If EDL method is used for unlocking then relocked?
I'm looking for the same answer. But from the historical threads that you can find in this forum, it doesn't look like...
So I guess widevine is lost completely even when you unlocked it with the official app?

To many users, the uncertainty of being able to restore L1 after relock, was preventing them from jumping into the Custom ROM scene.
