Hello! I just got my Oneplus 3T this week and I want to root my phone but I still want to continue using OOS.
Does this mean I should clean flash the new Open Beta 4 and install SuperSU and Magisk? Or do I need use the stable 7.1.1? Also, does this mean I also need to clean flash if I want to use future stable releases of OOS or will a dirty flash do just fine?
Also, which guide to rooting the 3T would you recommend? So far I've seen the ones from Web4Tech and Flaming Chicken and I'm still unsure which one to use.
Cheers!

Hi, I'm currently still running Oxygen 3.2.8 (Android 6.0.1) on my 64gb OP3 and refuse to update to the latest Nougat software because Xposed framework still does not have support for Android N and I still use some Xposed modules including Gravity Box and YouTube Backgammon Playback which I use extensively.
I recently bought a 128gb OP3T and plan to move my apps and data to that phone, but it is already updated to the latest version of Oxygen OS which is Nougat.
How can I roll back to an older ver of Oxygen OS so I can root it and install Xposed? Thanks.

Unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and clean flash OOS 3.X.X.
It's that simple. The first two steps you would have done anyways if you intend to root.

Thanks, does the OP3T use the same ver of TWRP and stock recovery as the regular OP3? I assume the ROMs are slightly different.

Stock roms are different yes... But aosp and other roms are unified now..
For op3t stick to official version from twrp site..
Hi there, when I got my Mi5, six months ago, I've used Miui for a week, but soon as I can I switched to Lineage OS, because I was used to Google Stock I had on my previous smartphones (Nexus, OPO).
Now I would like to try the new miui (probably xiaomi.eu or miuipro), and my question is: I need to take some precaution or I just go in TWRP, wipe all I need to wipe, flash the miui 9 rom, magisk (I need root) and reboot the phone? Is that all?
Same if I would came back to LOS? Wipe data/system/dalvik/cache flash LOS, Gapps, eventually magisk and I'm done?
Or something more is needed when moving from MIUI to LOS and viceversa?
Thanks, I've tried miui 9 on a Mi 5x and now I'm really interested in try that again on my Mi5
@maicasajusta flashing LOS or unofficial Miui versions is pretty straightforward!
In case you need to go back to LOS, sometimes it's required you flash a dev firmware...
so in case you get the Error 7 message, here's the link

that's exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks! yeah, I'm aware of error 7, I got it in one of the update of LOS and solved just as you said
Keep back this thread just so ask: what if I want to move back to MIUI GLOBAL (Stable/Beta), from LOS, and viceversa? I've read that there's some risk to relock the bootloader, is that true? I would love to try the new notification shade.
Thanks.
u neeed to wipe internal for installing los 15 from miui official
for miui9 can be flashed via miflash tool
also i'd suggest try masik miui/ miui x over the above two. Updated a little less regularly but far more stable and polished compared to the others

Official ROM? Yes. EU? No. So just flash EU if you want to try MIUI and still be able to switch ROMs easily.
Hello, I am currently running the global stable miui 8.1.4.0 on my mi5 and have gotten tired with Xiaomi not being able to make a good, stable rom for the mi5 so I have decided that I will flash a custom rom. Last time I rooted my phone was back when everybody used clockworkmod recovery so some things have changed.
1. My first question is which is the most stable rom for mi5. I don't care about android version or features I just want everything to work as well as possible.
2. Secondly, if I flash a custom rom will I pass safteynet if I have magisk installed?
3. What twrp should I use? I have heard about one called coffee which seems to be popular. or should I use some other?
4. How is the camera quality in custom ROMs compared to the stock rom(I will install the google camera when flashing the rom)
Thanks in advance!
sorry for the noob post, this is my 1st xiaomi phone
ey guys, just bought this phone a few days back and im waiting for my ubl counter for 3 more days. im not new to phones in general. i used to have a sam gal s2 and s5, and the devs there always recommended the latest released official stock base before using roms.
my question is
currently, i bought this phone as global stable 11.0.5.0 indonesian pcn_ID_xm and updated to 11.0.7.0. i want to change base stock to pcn_CN_xm (fewer bloat and stuff). or is there a better option/opinion?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-8/how-to/rom-miui-11-xiaomi-eu-t4006247
i just want to have a safe backup in case i need the base firmware before trying to install mods, like odin.
I can't understand you bro. Are you saying that: "How can I change the version of my phone?"
https://mifirm.net/model/olive.ttt
is the site legit? official stock firmwares being able to install by settings - about phone - system update - selecting the zip from the menu without unlocking the bootloader?
i guess "region" would be the better word. currently its a global stable "indonesian region", but im tempted to switch to a global stable "eu region". is there anything important to know when switching official regions?
firest your phone will be out of warranty
see this guide

yep already got all those, but what im asking for is on older phones with full system root (not magisk systemless root), later firmwares from late countries usually have better performance.
is that still true with current a/b partitions?
Hey, so first of all sorry for making a long post and I might repeat things for which there may be threads so sorry in advance regarding that, so moving on ,I just bought k20 Pro, while miui is awesome , I'm thinking of switching rom, but can't do it rn as I'll be traveling soon and don't want to risk bricking my phone, I'll do it asap after I return (in 1 week) so my questions are:
1) How to unlock bootloader?
2) How to flash recovery ? And which one , I've always used TWRP on earlier device, but some ppl I see here say Orangefox.
3)I know how to flash a ROM, but what is the vendor everyone keeps telling to flash and should that be flashed everytime installing new rom?
4) Do you lose support for hd in prime and Netflix after flashing rom? If yes how to bring it back (if possible ).
5) ROM recommendation! I've used Lineage os on my previous device, so close it would be good, recommend something which is stable and fast , I don't use much customisation, and should be close to stock Android, as less bugs as possible.
6) Anything I need to know about the device? Something which will help me in future.
Note:i I've upgraded to Miui 12 so please try base answers on that version. I have Indian version of phone.
Thank you to the folks reading this and answering!!

Here's a guide to unlocking the bootloader. This is from the official MIUI global forums.
https://c.mi.com/thread-2262302-1-0.html
Stick with TWRP. Get it from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...icial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363/post79823568 get the latest version. Orange Fox is a good choice of you stick with MIUI or a MIUI based custom ROM. Otherwise TWRP is the better option. Flashing instructions are there. You shouldn't need to flash the vbmeta patcher.
Check out my guide here, read the thread as some of your questions are answered there including a basic overview of vendor and firmware.

If you are used to LOS, then you may as well stick with that. It's as stable as any ROM for this phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/rom-lineageos-17-0-t3976469/post80406191
If you stick with Indian firmware and vendor, you should keep widevine L1.
If you get in a mess, follow this guide from the official MIUI forums to restore the phone with a fastboot ROM.

You will need to view this page in desktop mode, if viewing on a mobile.
You can get the latest MIUI fastboot ROM from here.
