(noob) How to flash the downloaded update file? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I have downloaded the open beta update file (1.45 gb). But I don't know how to update my phone to that. Can anyone please guide me through the procedure?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Just follow the instructions from the thread to install from stock recovery.
Imo, the beta path is more for experienced members that are going to find bugs and able to take logs of the issues and send them to OnePlus for diagnosis. Best bet for new users to use stable path.

I updated from 4.0.3 to beta 4 via local, but now I want to go back because of the battery drain problem. I tried several times via adb sideload to flash the zip but I keep getting the same error <cannot read 4.0.4.zip> over and over again. Even after installing the drivers, I got a little yellow exclamation triangle near the driver in device manager. Honestly I'm starting to give up, I think I wiped my phone more than 5 times in order to flash via sideload, only to get the same error continuously. as far as I know, I cannot go back to 4.0.3 via local from beta 4 right?
Please help...

Did you already redownload the zip?

Paying $10 for flashing a ROM

I've been trying to get my phone on any ROOTED, latest software version, but every time I have tried it seems to fail.
If someone can just do this for me via teamviewer, I will be on Skype as well on my iPad to show what the phone is doing over the webcam, and succeed I will pay you 10 bux for your trouble via paypal
I'm fed up of wasting so much time trying to get this working, and I need my customz.
PM me or reply to this thread if you're interested.
EDIT: Got all the relevant files downloaded already..

Dont worry about money we are here to help each other...
First make sure your drivers are working properly
If you're on Windows 8+ version then you need to disable driver check enforcement by following these steps
1 Press windows key+i
2 change pc settings
3 general
4 under advanced startup press reboot now
5 once pc reboots go to troubleshoot
6 advance options
7 startup settings
8 restart
9 press '7'
Now once pc is booted up install drivers from flashtool folder selecting z1 in the list and press install this driver software anyway everytime.
Flash. 108 firmware for your z1's version because 108 is most easy to root
After phone boots up enable debugging
Now root it and install nuts dual recovery
Then simply flash any pre-rooted lollipop rom for your z1's version in twrp.
Again after booting in prerooted rom install recovery same as .108 firmware and flash any custom lollipop rom.
If you want to flash cm based rom then you need to unlock bootloader which is very easy too just ask again and will help you for same...
Done!!!
After you root the phone if you have c6903 and want lollipop you cand download and flash the zip file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/general/sony-xperia-z1-official-5-0-2-build-283-t3137121 you will not loose the recovery with this file .

K3 Note: Marshmallow update cannot be installed on TWRP 2.7.8.0

Hi there,
we have this phone and manually rooted and flashed it. Now it runs on TWRP 2.7.8.0.
Since a few days Marshmallow OTA is shown but cannot be installed after download: Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K3Note".
Nothing worked so far trying to update it. I tried using this method but also does not work out since I cannot get into original Recovery (pushing all 3 buttons as mentioned in this thread to choose language does not work).
Can anybody tell me how I may install this upgrade? I already downloaded the OTA file and stored it as update.zip on the phone. With TWRP updating will not work out. I only managed to get into normal recovery once but could not use it due to being in chinese only.
Any help on how to install this update is highly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
Bye

I also had the same problem but mine said, Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K50-T5".......
Sorry guys - need to bring this up again. Any hints? OTA update is still offered but cannot be installed due to said error.
Do I have to downgrade or install an older stock ROM in order to get updated? If so any hint or link (also to appropriate threads) is highly welcome!

Problems with Android N Preview and Unenrollement

Good Morning Everyone! I decided to open this discussion hoping someone could help me solve or at least understand the problem I have been having on my Nexus 6 with Android N Preview. So, I have the Nexus 6 since April and I got it from a friend who sold it to me. At that moment the phone was already enrolled in the Beta Program, and was running one of the first previews. But here came the problem. In fact I wanted to unenroll the phone but when I enter the Beta Program page, my Nexus does not appear as eligible device nor I can unenroll it from there. I looked at Device Manager and it shows my Nexus 6, but I actually could not do anything to unenroll it. I tried flashing a Marshmallow build with NRT but as soon as I turn on my phone, an annoying notification shows up, saying I can update to the N preview. So, how can I try to uneroll my Nexus 6? My friend says he is not able to do it for me, cause he doesn't see the device on his account anymore. What do you suggest me to do?
Thanks in advance, guys!
Here is an idea.
When NRT is used Twrp-recovery is installed.
Copy a lite stock rom in 'zip-format' to internal memory. Or download it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59561445/
Reboot in recovery and wipe the system partition and caches.
Still in Twrp-recovery - Flash the 'zip' with lite stock rom.
Reboot.

Thanks for your tips, man! I have some questions about: with this procedure I'm going to install a custom ROM, but if I wanted to go back to latest official MM build and flash it with NRT, will be the problem solved in the same way in your opinion or will I get the notification about the preview again? What if I try to access with another different account after that in your opinion?

You need to delete the current account and do a factory reset.
For going back to stock there is a tutorial,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57063390/
So I managed to go back to android MM after enteting a new account and unenrolling my Nexus 6 from Beta Program. Now everything seemed fine but then after I updated back with the OTA I received, I noticed my device has still July Security patch. I thought Google would have sent me September ones, so I tried to check manually and waited a whole day, but nothing happened. Coukd it be a problem related to bad installation in your opinion? Do you suggest me to restore September build through NRT?
Thanks for all your help man, I owe you and thanks you for your time!

Update OP3 from 3.1.2 to OOS 5.0.1 (process and files required)

Hi guys, I have a OP3 which is running on 3.1.2 Marshmallow.
I always get a notification for system update to 4.5.1. I've tried downloading and installing the update but after the first boot my OP crashes/gets bricked. There is only a Linux penguin logo that appears no matter what button you press.
From there I always have to follow the mega unbrick guide and get my phone back to working with stock recovery and 3.1.2.
I've tried side loading the downloaded file as well.
Then I've tried installing .zip file of 5.0.1 via TWRP, still no luck. it still bricks my phone.
Am comfortable rooting my phone, my bootloader is unlocked. I don't care too much about keeping root after updating my phone to the latest version, I would be grateful to anyone who can point me towards the proper full ROM files of 5.0.1 along with any firmware files that may be required.
And the exact process of when to flash the firmware and with/without which version of TWRP. I am ready to completely wipe and clear data.
in simple words I just want to update from 3.1.2 to 5.0.1. The simple downloading and updateing from the OTA update doesn't work.

I read something about wrong batteries causing this problem. Do you use the original battery?

I though of running a diagnosis check by dialing *#808# and looked up Charger option, it shows the battery as "itech_3000mah"
is that original?
I had given the phone to repair for water damage to a professional service chain (Not OnePlus, some company here called Yaantra). I've heard from talking to an official repair person of OnePlus that fake batteries are not possible for OnePlus.
The battery works absolutely alright, charges up nicely and I get decent SOT. Can't complain at all.

Question OTA Update Fails With "Installation Problem"

NE2215, Rooted running .c22.
I have followed all the rules, unrooting with Magisk restoring images, then either using the system updater to download the OTA, or the local update apk to install an OTA. In every instance, whether it is c26 or c30, it fails with the unhelpful message "Installation Problem"
I suspect that this was caused by my having at one point installed the unofficial TWRP recovery, which I later uninstalled and replaced with the stock recovery. I had thought returning to the stock recovery would solve the problem, but it continues to exist.
Can someone suggest the steps I should take to get the phone to take the update? This was not a problem when OnePlus was providing full installs, but I'm having no luck at all with the recent updates.
Many thanks for your help.
Maybe Oxygen Updater has full download link?

I would try to flash stock boot.img without any root etc., reflash stock recovery if possible and then download FULL ota link using oxygen updater and then via localupdate.apk try to install it.
Also you can try to use this software:
OPPO System Upgrade Tool | OPPO Global
Only 5 steps to upgrade to new system. Always optimize your OPPO device when there's the latest software update available to enhance the system stability.
www.oppo.com
It should be possible to upgrade your OP10P with it even with OxygenOS without issues.
Hopefully some of those will help you to upgrade.

Many thanks, will give both suggestions a shot. But isn't the OTA update by definition only a partial update? My problem really arose when OnePlus stopped releasing full updates. Or am I confusing something?

Not necessarily. It can be partial and full, too.
Full updates are released in case of any issues, also rooted devices need full update files.
Give it a shot and hopefully you will be successful.

When I unroot (restoring images) and then try to boot the stock boot image, (just to check before actually flashing it,) it goes into Crashdump mode. Any ideas how to fix? (Since I just booted rather than flashed, I'm out of Crashdump mode but back to square one.)

You can try complete uninstall of the magisk by clicking on that button in the app, but better have a backup of your data if anything goes wrong.
Or you can just download the full Ota zip using oxygen updater and use that local update apk if it goes through. Also use that local update apk for android 13 as there is for A12 and for A13. It might solve the issue too.

yes. you flashed the slot you were on and was able to update since you have the stock images, but now you're on the other slot that probably still has twrp.

Okay, I flashed stock recovery to both slots, but still update fails. The system says that I am running c.22, and tries to update me to c.30. On the other hand, the Oxygen Updater says "You need to install c22 first, and then update to subsequent updates via incremental." It then proceeds to download c.22. (I should note that at one time c.26 was installed; Not sure how we dropped back to c.22.)
Regardless, the update fails, even using the local update for Android 13.
Any ideas? I don't like the idea of being stuck forever on c.22.

idk. safest way is probably change regions or wait for a full rom. I have c.30 ota download links in my update post, but idk if you want to chance it.
