Bootloader Unlock Question

Hello,
I am just wondering, where is the latest news on the progress of our bootloader being unlocked? Or atleast where can I get any kind of info on how to do it? Cause I'll be dead honest, I turned on my galaxy S3 and missed the CM experience. I just want to get this thing unlocked so I can enjoy our phone, instead of being OK with what ATT gives us, cause its kinda dumb.
thanks for any information at all, cause I'd honestly dedicate my phone to the effort.

If u got s3 them u in wrong forum. Needed to go to att s3 forum.
Samsung unlock bootloader on SM-G870A ...
No no, I have both. I am using my S5, but I miss my S3 because of CM. I just want to help with this somehow.

there will never be unlocked by at&t, this company is closed by capitalist political protection of the operator's own functions.
well I sold the phone, it is unfortunate, it is a good phone, it's amazing the difference g900a g900f with the operating system.
The g900f has everything unlocked functions representing the galaxy s5.
I recommend that you do not fall into the scam at&t.
I hate to be pessimistic, but with the arrival of "android 5" I doubt that at&t update these terminals, is a company that has a reputation of leaving obsolete phones.
I would easily pay 25-50 dollars for an unlock tool (like Sunshine for HTC/Motorola devices) for the G900A. While I do appreciate Safestrap and all its glory, I really, really, want stock android L on our device. Because somewhere...... a Samsung engineer is looking at L thinking "how can we screw this one up..."
All I'm saying is this, I'm not too savy with hacking or low level coding; but I hope that if Samsung does push out Android L and that there is some sort of exploit or bug that will allow us to root/unlock the boot loader since it would be a fairly new os compared to that of ICS/KK.

Im just hoping devs get the bootloader unlocked before the end of 2014, but sadly i dont know if it will ever be unlocked
Why can't we pull a boot loader encryption key from an update?

Be careful what you wish for...
"L" has a whole new set of challenges....
Init commands are no more...
So our traditional root and superuser mechanisms are gone...
Google did this on purpose in the name of security..
So not only are the carriers locking us out..but Google is turning into the new apple....
So much for open source and freedom to create....g
Man screw this s5 I'm going to fire back up my s3 . I'm missing cm big time

What you're describing is basically breaking an encryption, which is out of the realm of possibility. It would be far easier (and has still not happened yet) to literally steal the keys from Samsung. I believe previous bootloaders have been unlocked this way. If a lock is unpickable, then I'll just steal the key from the guy who has it right?

If the T-Mobile version is unlocked why can't we just make it think it's the same phone, or just switch out the boot loader somehow. Maybe someone understands what I'm saying ?

That's not going to ever happen. The bootloader is locked down to prevent that. You need to unlock our bootloader before you could ever switch them.

Technically you are correct however, Odin can flash BootLoaders but alas we are back to if we had the "keys" we wouldnt need to try to flash a TMO BL.
viscous circle we are in

I love my S5 rooted running a killer Rom beautifully themed with great battery life and debloated. I've had a Galaxy S series since the S2. My S3 was a decent phone but this S5 is a beast.

S5 Active Roms

Does anyone know of any other Roms that may possibly work on s5 active? Don't mean to gripe or complain but active only has like 4 Roms and of those Roms only one has an updated version. I like this phone but was thinking of getting rid of it to get a Note 4. There are so many Roms for other Samsung phones and S5 active is getting left out. Does anyone know of other Roms that may work? Just tired of seeing the same ones.

S5 active is pretty specific and with locked BL only TouchWiz roms work and only unity and DK offer cross compatible roms at this point

[Q] Can I flash a SM-G925F firmware onto my AT&T edge?

Hey guys,
Is it possible to flash a international firmware onto an AT&T phone? If so, what's the best firmware to use? The BTU one?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The bootloader hasn't been unlocked yet and there's no root...my guess...no...unless you want to brick it.
You can't flash anything until the bootloader is unlocked. If it even gets unlocked

Thanks! Just trying to understand how this all works. I was able to do that on my HTC M8 so I thought I'd be able to do it on the Galaxy S6 Edge as well.
Thanks again.

If you like custom ROM's I'd go back to M8 or get an M9 dev edition. Going off the past Galaxy models on AT&T you are likely to never get the bootloader unlocked. Unless Samsung does something similar to what HTC did but I doubt it.
I really liked the M8 but the camera was one of the worst cameras I've had on a phone. The camera on the S6 edge is awesome and I'm happy with the phone. I may end up returning the AT&T version and getting a T-mobile or international version instead.

A word of caution, the International versions won't support carrier aggregation or VoLTE or HD Voice...Unless you have a specific need for root, you can disable 98% of the AT&T bloat. I ended up returning my International model because of these reasons and due to the fact that the signal was noticeably worse with the international version.

Thanks for your input! I'm really not sure what to do. I love this phone and I want to keep it. I have disabled almost all the AT&T bloat now and it's working OK. There's some interesting stuff happening here at XDA and maybe we'll be able to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T devices like the Chinese version, so I'm at a dilemma right now. I have until May 12 to return my device so I will decide by then. Although, after what you said, I may not want to get an international version after all, especially if the signal is not as good as the AT&T version...
So...
Did you flash the international firmware to your AT&T edge? If so how'd it turn out? Do you miss those features mentioned?
Thanks in advance.
No. I don't believe it's possible to do so until the bootloader is unlocked. I'm still using the AT&T version and haven't decided to trade it for the international version yet.

I was about to purchase the International version but there are tons of posts
on not all of the ATT LTE bands being supported. The ATT version even has the
2 brand new bands that will be rolled out so add those 2 bands to the unsupported list.
98% of the bloat can be disabled and you will get the Voice over LTE. I cancelled my
International version and ordered the ATT version. I am not looking back.
Also if you paid full price for the the phone you will get unlock code after 60 days.

has anything changed with this issue?

Is it worth dropping my ATT note 4 for the Tmobile version? HELP

I am seriously thinking about selling my att note 4, for the Tmobile version. Is it worth it? Help me with my decision is it worth for root and roms?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using xda premium
I had the same issue when my ATT contract was up and having the bootloader unlocked made it a simple decision. My number one reason for rooting and unlocking the bootloader is so I may get rid of that god awful Touchwiz rom.
Sold my Verizon note 4 and added a hundred bucks to have a new Tmobile Note 4. Worth every nickel.
What model are you getting? 910T or T3 or doesn't matter?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using xda premium
If you buy new direct from T-Mobile I think they are only shipping the T3s now.
I don't know what all the fuss is about with people hating on the T3... Mine is working flawlessly. May be stuck with Lollipop ROMs but why would you want to stick with kitkat?

So the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy a 71 is readable?

I was thinking about buying one if I was there with your rooted and Flash bombs and mods and different stuff like that on it. Will someone please let me know if the T-Mobile version of this device is rootable. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!!
